View 1 RepliesMy wireless internet has been acting a bit weird lately. I use a linksys Dual band wireless-N USB adaptor (WUSB600N) to connect to my router, a 2wire 1000sw. I am on windows 7. Recently, the internet has been dropping and reconnecting the connection weirdly; it is apparent in Portal 2 Co-op mode; it says the connection has been lost to the server, and then within 4 seconds, re-joins the server. During that time, the little network icon (the 4 bars in the task bar) says "Identifying."

I have the new XBOX 360 black N wireless adapter and the Linksys E3000 dual band router as I want to upgrade the network range and speed to N. I set up a unique SSID and passphrase (WPA2) for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. My XBOX could connect to the 2.4GHz band network and could connect to XBOX Live. But when I configured all the settings and tried to connect to the 5GHz band network, but no luck. My XBOX just said it failed to connect. I was sure that I did type in the SSID and passphrase correctly. I still cannot figure out what went wrong. I even suspected either the wireless adapter or the router malfunctioned.

Start->Control Panel->Network Connections(classic view)->Right click on Local Area connection(wired)/Wireless network connection(wireless)->Properties->Select Internet Protocol(TCP/IP)->Properties->Under General tab, choose "Use the following IP address" and type the IP address, Subnet mask and Default Gateway, DNS and press OK.

I'm using a WDR3600 router, and I'm having difficulty with getting internet access on the 5 GHz band. Right now the router is broadcasting in both 2.4 and 5 GHz as two separate APs. The 2.4 GHz band works perfectly fine, but when I connect to the 5 GHz band my device is not assigned an IP address and cannot connect to the internet (or even the router configuration page). Unfortunately, I don't have another device capable of accessing the 5 GHz band, so I can't check to see if the computer is at fault, but both the computer and the router have worked together with no problems before, and this computer has done fine in accessing other 5 GHz bands.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI changed the 5 GHZ SSID name using Cisco connect on my E3200 router as was expecting to see 2 available wireless networks on my laptop, but it seems that only the 2.4 GHZ is still broadcasting as it was before. When I connect to it with my laptop it shows it connecting with 802.11n, so I would think that my laptop would see the 5 GHz SSID if it was broadcasting. I am trying to take advantage of the dual band feature and connect the 5 GHZ to my blue ray player for real time video streaming.

My wireless settings on my Superhub modem look like this.As you can see it has settings for 2.4 OR 5GHz and wireless modes of 54, 144 or 300Mbps.
What setting should I be using for my EA4500 to operate in dual band mode? I'm guessing I should put by Virgin Superhub modem in modem mode at 5GHz/300Mbps.I will besetting up seperate SSIDs for 2.4 and 5GHz bands.

I am able to see and connect to my G-Band (2.4) with no problem, but the adapter can't connect to the N-Band. It see's it, but can't connect to it. I have noticed that all the antennas are dual band and support MIMO. In the past we would just buy a splitter box and connect it to one of the antenna ports on the AP, and then run cables to antennas and connect those to the splitter box. The antennas were just standard 2.4Ghz 3-5 dBi. We would set that one radio on the AP to transmit and receive. Now I am wondering if this whole setup will change on a 2602E because of the MIMO?I have seen there are MIMO antennas and I am trying to figure out what is compatible and what is not. Is my old way of doing this still going to work but we'll only see G speed? And to get N speed do we need the MIMO antennas in place?

I have just bought a D-Link DWA-160 A2 network adapter and it is really slow.I have been using a D-Link DWA-125 N 150 A2 for a while now and it is faster, getting a higher signal.My new network adapter is suppose to be faster.The only thing I can think of is that the software coming with the adapter never installed. I get an error: Wireless adapter not found! insert the adapter now.Thing is, the driver is installed and I can surf the internet.I did some speedtest net tests and I see that my DWA-125 A2 is faster.

Now he has a fairly large 3 story house, and wanted to place an access point on the top floor to be assured he'll have strong and reliable signal. He's going to have multiple TV's wired into the network, as well as computers, laptops, phones, a Xbox 360 and a PS3. Were using Gigabit switches and a D-link Simultaneous Dual-band Gigabit router.The modem, router, and main 16 port switch will be in his basement in a semi-server room. He currently has 12 lines run throughout his house, 3 to the top floor, 5 to the main floor, and the ability to lay some in the basement if he needs. The 16port switch will plug into the router, I'm also putting an 8 port into the router from the main and top floor. The remaining lines will plug into the switch in the basement. On the top floor I was going to install an AP or Router turned into an AP into the 8port switch.Now the only reason I am considering using a router instead of just getting an AP, is that neither of us can find a simultaneous Dual-band AP. It seems the only simultaneous DB out there is in routers. So, my question is, will I be able to easily use a router as an AP AND get simultaneous Dual-band out of it if I do so? View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to save a neighbor some money by fixing their wireless network.WNDR3700 Dual band Netgear router.2.4ghz wireless b/g/n with enabled SSID broadcast, channel= auto, mode set to 130Mbps WPA-TKIP + WPA2-AES. wireless isolation is not enabled.5Ghz wireless a/n enabled SSID broadcast, channel = 44, Mode is up to 300Mbps..No security encription. (i know...bad, but the lady has lots of kids and family members coming and going from the house so she doesn't want one encripted). Video network enabled..Both Radio frequencies are enabled, fragment and CTS/RTS set to max WPS settings = keep existing. IPv6 not enabled, No repeating is enabled, No guest networks are enabled(however ssid broadcast is enabled for guest profile 1)The problem, and reason for fixing the problem is that the 2.4 Ghz band light on the router is ON however the SSID is not being seen by any client in the house. the netgear interface says it is on and working. the neighbor needs the 2.4ghz band to work because the printer is wireless and will only recognize 2.4Ghz SSIDs. Also they have older nintendo DS clients they would like to use on the network.During the day the 5 Ghz band works with very seldom (1-2) disconnects while the 2.4 Ghz band wont be visible to any device. in the evening both bands will come online, and very often will every computer get disconnected from either, the 5Ghz band will stay online longer than the 2.4 band and it seems as though every 10 minutes everyone gets disconnected from 1, and then all the sudden the other band will start working. once every so often both bands will be visable by all computers however only 1 will work.
-Updated the firmware, appeared to fix the problem. Fix only lasted for about 5 hours.
-turned off the router and modem to let them sit. restarted both multiple times.
-Called netgear tech support, asked me about firmware, restarting, then rerouted me someone with more broken English and a horrible phone connection than ive ever seen or heard. then they tried to charge me 30$ for a 1 time. or 100$ for the year. might as well buy a new router at this point in costs.
My personal fix would be to just broadcast on the 5ghz band and wire the printer to the router, buy another router and broadcast the 2.4 ghz one from it, but the lady wants it all to work with the one router. i dont know if the networked has ever worked as intended and ive spent hours reading forums.the main issue is leaving her with internet that she and her family can use so kids can do homework and stuff after i leave the house.

I replaced my bog standard belkin 54g router (which never dropped out, never lagged), you just plugged it in, stuck your isp settings in and away you went. Not the same story with this netgear, it promises to give you a better connection in game, but since installing it, all games lag, my laptop is slow browsing, it is getting to the point where we cannot game at all and I am giving up waiting for websites to load! Currently, there are two WiFi security cameras streaming through it to a surveillance server 24/7, and even though it is in a central location in my condo, I get shit signal ~25 feet away (and that's after cranking up the wifi radio to 60mw).
802.11n is a must, and dual SSID's would be nice too... dual band would be totally awesome but not that necessary (I still have some legacy hardware running on G...).
Cisco RV220W works in 2.4GHz or 5GHz.There is any plan to support these bands simultaneously?

I used the installation CD and followed all the instructions carefully throughout, but once it was "working," I did a speed test and saw that there was absolutely no difference in speed.
I refuse to believe that this new router, which cost me over $100, would provide no noticeable difference over my old router. Speaking of my old router, I have the original router that Telus sent me for free. It's a Siemens Gigaset SE567, and I've dealt with it a few times when I had internet problems,fiddling with the 192.168.0.1 web address site, configuring the passwords and SSID, and the like. I'm not super-educated on the matter,but I know enough about it that with a thorough explanation, I could probably perform whatever is necessary.
Anyways, like I said, I followed all the instructions and after testing out some simple Youtube videos on both my tablet and laptop, through the wireless network that resulted, it couldn't even load a 480p video without lagging. I know that the router isn't the only thing that ensures speed, but even with my (probably barebottom) internet plan (which my father set up, not me, and knowing my father, it's probably the slowest connection available), I just cannot believe that the resulting network was the best speed available to me. So did I do something wrong? Are the routers interfering with each other? Is that actually the best speed I can achieve? Is that Gigaset even a router? Or is it a modem? Or both?
I recently purchased a Belkin Dual Band Router and connected to the internet at our side-house we have connected to the house. I'm getting a poor to fair signal out here. Just to mention, there is a lot of traffic passing at all times of the day and night. Busy highway. Is there a way I can boost my wifi signal without buying an actual wifi booster?

Need:
- Wireless-n dual-band (2.4ghz+5ghz). Doesn't have to be the super fast type.. whatever is entry for this.
- At least 1 usb port for printer sharing
- Prefer gigabit, but I can live without
- Must be able to run Tomato in some form, or if I have to, run dd-wrt as a last resort.
