Belkin Dual Band Router - To Boost Up Wifi

Jan 28, 2012

I recently purchased a Belkin Dual Band Router and connected to the internet at our side-house we have connected to the house. I'm getting a poor to fair signal out here. Just to mention, there is a lot of traffic passing at all times of the day and night. Busy highway. Is there a way I can boost my wifi signal without buying an actual wifi booster?

Linksys Wireless Router :: No Connection To 5GHz Band On E3000 Dual Band?

Apr 14, 2010

I have the new XBOX 360 black N wireless adapter and the Linksys E3000 dual band router as I want to upgrade the network range and speed to N. I set up a unique SSID and passphrase (WPA2) for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. My XBOX could connect to the 2.4GHz band network and could connect to XBOX Live. But when I configured all the settings and tried to connect to the 5GHz band network, but no luck. My XBOX just said it failed to connect. I was sure that I did type in the SSID and passphrase correctly. I still cannot figure out what went wrong. I even suspected either the wireless adapter or the router malfunctioned.

Tp-link Dual-band Wireless :: Wifi Unstable On Tl-wdr4900?

Apr 3, 2013

Region : Netherlands
Model : TL-WDR4900
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version : 121211
ISP :

after changing from a Thomson router with wifi to the TP-link WDR-4900 I find that the wifi is very unstable. The 2.4GHz is operating on the same channel as my previous router (channel 8 - which is the lest busy channel around my house), and none of my neighbours have wifi on the 5GHz band. Almost all devices in my home regularly have to reconnect to the wifi, both on the 2.4GHz as on the 5GHz (tested with more than 8 devices). Almost every 15 minutes I see a "wifi channel disconnected" message, 10 seconds later followed by a "wifi connected" message. the Wifianalyser app on my tablet confirms that the wifi signal drops once in a while to zero. I use the latest stable frmware (I read that there is beta firmware but I don't like to loose warranty). The stability seems to unrelated to the amount of traffic on the wifi network.

Will this be fixed in the next firmware of the TP-WDR-4900 ?

Tp-link Dual-band Wireless :: Tl-wdr4300 / No More Wifi After Openwrt Firmware Upgrade?

Apr 29, 2013

Region : UnitedStates
Model : TL-WDR4300
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version : OpenWRT
ISP : Comcast

I was having major stability issues with my TPLink WDR4300 and after a little bit of research, decided to upgrade the firmware to OpenWRT. I found a post online and followed these instructions:

1- Make sure your router is version 1.x (x can be any number).

2- Download the openwrt firmware from here: [URL]

3- Download putty command tool from here: [URL]

4- Login to your router config page (192.168.0.1) using internet explorer browser and update the firmware to openwrt. Use the firmware file you downloaded in step 2.

5- Now open Putty software you downloaded in step 3. Enter host name: 192.168.1.1, Connection Type choose: Telnet. Now click open. Now you will see the command line with black screen,

6- Now type "passwd" into the command line and press enter on the keyboard. Now choose your new password to access the router make sure password has letter and number. Repeat type password and press enter. Password should be changed now.

7- Type into the command "opkg update" and press enter on keyboard, Wait for it to do some download and updates. Once finished, type this "opkg install luci" and press enter

8- Type this into the command to enable luci "/etc/init.d/uhttpd enable" and press enter on keyboard.

9- Type this into the command "/etc/init.d/uhttpd start" and press enter on the keyboard. Now you can close Putty.

10- Open internet explorer in the address bar punch in: 192.168.1.1 and use the password you created to login to the router config page. Go to the wifi section and turn on the wifi and set up wireless security network.

Everything worked fine until I got to the last step and go to the "wifi section and turn on wifi." After a bit more digging, I noticed that there is not a "Wifi" option under the 19192.168.1.1 portal "Network" tab. After getting frustrated and more hours trying to figure it out, I elected to try and go back to stock firmware. On Luci, I selected restore to factory settings and the router did its thing and restarted. Now I can't login to Luci (obviously) since it was no longer enabled in Putty. I try and run Putty to connect to 192.168.1.1 and it just opens and immediately closes. It will not connect. I also can no longer login to (192.168.0.1). Further, when I try and run the TPLink setup disk,I receive the error "Please check the network connectivity" and "Please check the model of your router." The Wifi light on the router does not turn on (it is switched on). I'm stuck and don't know what to do! I use this router in a home office with multiple wifi users.

Tp-link Dual-band Wireless :: Tl-wdr4300 4300 Refuses To Use Two 2.4ghz For Wifi

Mar 28, 2013

Region : Australia
Model : TL-WDR4300
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version : 3.13.23 Build 121225 Rel.37950n
ISP : Optus

I note that my 4300 never uses two channels in 2.4 GHz wireless n mode as reported by Inssider. I can see a few other routers on Inssider, one of which uses channel 11+7 ALL the time, though it's not a TP-Link router. Mine sometimes will connect to two channels, thus enabling 300 Mbps, but then quickly drops to 1 channel. I believe this is a firmware fault as I only have 3 or 4 routers in the area of my house and I can't believe this would generate sufficient interference to force the router to run at a lower speed. If the router does behave this way by design, then TP-Link should stop advertising it as a 300 Mbps router as it will almost never operate at that speed.

Tp-link Dual-band Wireless :: Tl-wdr4900 Unstable Wifi Connection As Well As Bittorrent / P2p Transfers

Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version : 3.14.3 Build 130320 Rel.39025n

I have upgraded to the latest firmware which solved lots of problems regarding unstable wifi connection as well as BitTorrent / P2P transfers. But I also observed that when my BT is on (Transmission for Mac) at around 50KB/s upload and download, my network latency hikes up from some 30ms to 500ms which affects a lot on web browsing or other apps requiring Internet. My BitTorrent app is showing I am merely making some 20 peers connection so I am not convinced that is an ISP problem but it's more about the router.

Tp-link Dual-band Wireless :: Wdr4300 Can't Able To Recognize System /all Wifi Clients Lose Connection

Region : Others
Model : TL-WDR4300
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version : 3.13.23 Build 121225 Rel.37950n
ISP : UPC Hungary Ltd.

I can't able to recognize a system - all wifi clients lose connection. When this happens, the ping answer time rech the ~2000 times, then totally lose the connection, the SSID is dissapear - checking with my phone (android - wifi analyzer) and TL-WN822N USB wifi adapter (with the inSSIDer application). Meanwhile the cable clients and the WAN connections works fine, didn't experience anything. If I restart the wifi service with the hardware on/off button, it runs well for some time. This problem appeared when I used the two older official firmware too.

I tried the auto-chanel function width auto channel width, tried to manually set up one of the less interfered channels with both 20MHz and 40MHz channel width, but none of them bring the solution. The intresting thing is, if I change the router with an old D-Link DI-604, the signal is weak, but the wifi connection is stable, with the same TL-WN822N adapter.I tried to guarantee the router, but after two weeks, my reseller said, it looks ok, they - at the TP-Link service - didn't find anything.

TP-Link Dual-Band Wireless :: DHCP Not Working For 6 GHz Band?

Apr 2, 2013

Region : UnitedStates
Model : TL-WDR3600
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version :
ISP : Centurylink

I'm using a WDR3600 router, and I'm having difficulty with getting internet access on the 5 GHz band. Right now the router is broadcasting in both 2.4 and 5 GHz as two separate APs. The 2.4 GHz band works perfectly fine, but when I connect to the 5 GHz band my device is not assigned an IP address and cannot connect to the internet (or even the router configuration page). Unfortunately, I don't have another device capable of accessing the 5 GHz band, so I can't check to see if the computer is at fault, but both the computer and the router have worked together with no problems before, and this computer has done fine in accessing other 5 GHz bands.

Using A Dual - Band Router As An Access Point?

Mar 29, 2011

I'm networking a clients home and he specifically wants dual-band wifi through-out. Now he has a fairly large 3 story house, and wanted to place an access point on the top floor to be assured he'll have strong and reliable signal. He's going to have multiple TV's wired into the network, as well as computers, laptops, phones, a Xbox 360 and a PS3. Were using Gigabit switches and a D-link Simultaneous Dual-band Gigabit router. The modem, router, and main 16 port switch will be in his basement in a semi-server room. He currently has 12 lines run throughout his house, 3 to the top floor, 5 to the main floor, and the ability to lay some in the basement if he needs. The 16port switch will plug into the router, I'm also putting an 8 port into the router from the main and top floor. The remaining lines will plug into the switch in the basement. On the top floor I was going to install an AP or Router turned into an AP into the 8port switch. Now the only reason I am considering using a router instead of just getting an AP, is that neither of us can find a simultaneous Dual-band AP. It seems the only simultaneous DB out there is in routers. So, my question is, will I be able to easily use a router as an AP AND get simultaneous Dual-band out of it if I do so? Is there a Simultaneous Dual-band AP on the market that would a better investment?

Install New D-Link N750 Dual Band Router?

Jul 6, 2012

I just bought a new D-Link N750 DIR-835 Dual Band Router, and I tried installing it to apparently no avail. I used the installation CD and followed all the instructions carefully throughout, but once it was "working," I did a speed test and saw that there was absolutely no difference in speed.

I refuse to believe that this new router, which cost me over $100, would provide no noticeable difference over my old router. Speaking of my old router, I have the original router that Telus sent me for free. It's a Siemens Gigaset SE567, and I've dealt with it a few times when I had internet problems, fiddling with the 192.168.0.1 web address site, configuring the passwords and SSID, and the like. I'm not super-educated on the matter, but I know enough about it that with a thorough explanation, I could probably perform whatever is necessary.

Anyways, like I said, I followed all the instructions and after testing out some simple Youtube videos on both my tablet and laptop, through the wireless network that resulted, it couldn't even load a 480p video without lagging. I know that the router isn't the only thing that ensures speed, but even with my (probably barebottom) internet plan (which my father set up, not me, and knowing my father, it's probably the slowest connection available), I just cannot believe that the resulting network was the best speed available to me. So did I do something wrong? Are the routers interfering with each other? Is that actually the best speed I can achieve? Is that Gigaset even a router? Or is it a modem? Or both?
