I just installed two FPS games.. My router reboot every time those game search for servers list. ( So i can't actually play those games) I have a dir-601 n-150 dlink router. I have successfully played online with another connection. I tried opening some ports, but it didn't work. The firmware is up to date.

I can't connect directly to the modem because it's my roommates internet and it's connected to her computer so my only option is wireless or to connect directly via adapter that goes through the power outlets in the house. It's getting very annoying skipping around and it's almost impossible to play diablo 3 with this lag. I notice I drop a lot of packets when pinging to the diablo 3 server and I don't know why.

When I go to get a list of servers when playing games online, my router lights up and then crashes, and I cant get on the internet again until I exit the game. Although, some games do work. There are no problems with my firewall, and if I connect directly to my modem, I can play fine.
I play the game with WiFi link with, however, less than 5 minutes to play will break why? All games are like that.

I've tried upgrading the firmware, had linksys techs resetting the router, gotten a new modem from my ISP. Hardwired the PC that I normally use.The router that I have is a WRT120N, each and everytime a linksys tech reset it's basically the same thing with the same disconnecting problem afterwards. I'm thinking it's usually when another phone device tries to connect to the wifi that it boots me off. I have 2 pc's, one laptop and my iphone that connects fine w/o any problems but when another android or iphone connects it causes me to disconnect.

Everything works and I don't have trouble accessing the internet, but whenever I play a game online it will disconnect me after a while. Sometimes it disconnects me after 5 minutes and sometimes after 30 minutes. I have this problem with every game I play, except for Runescape. The weird thing is that I talk to friends on steam when we are playing and it doesn't get disconnected I can hear them fine, and my internet access bar at the lower right doesn't say I'm disconnected.Streaming and downloading work as well.I tried to port forward and I assumed it would work but I still had the same disconnection problem. I tried to port forward again but this time I used the tool at portforward.com to check if they were forwarded properly and it said your port is not open or not reachable. I tried this with a lot of random ports and it said the same thing.

I used to be sponsored on Xbox 360 for call of duty black ops and my mom met this guy and i had to move into his house, So now i had to drop my sponsorship and everything because i randomly freeze for about 3 seconds and then unfreeze and i jump forward and catch up to what apparently i was doing but not doing on my screen. It even happens on world of warcraft on my computer and it is very aggravating to have to deal with. And just like Cassius is saying "the ping spikes ruin online gaming entirely and tbh."

I have a button on my keyboard that turns my wireless on and off like many laptops do, and when playing these games after a couple minutes it will be turned off and I need to restart my computer to be able to get my wireless working again. This must be a problem with my computer and not the internet itself because I'm on campus and I see many other people playing games here.

I have Planet modem ade-4400 linked to a Digitus ethernet Dn 5001a that I use to connect my 2nd PC.The problem is that everytime, both PCs are connected I constantly get lag spikes while playing games.Also, seemingly on random occasions, no matter what programs I run in the background my connection gets disabled with a yellow exclamation mark over my network icon. I get a "The default gateway is not available" error once I troubleshoot, and the connection works fine afterwards.
However, recently after I updated the windows I think, I get another error that says "The connection between your access point, router, or cable modem and the Internet is broken" along with the gateway one. Also, recently, I started having lag spikes regardless of the other computer being connected to mine after the error, and once I turn on my pc. Could it be somehow related to Microsoft security essentials? Since I've installed it at about the same time when the lag-after-the-error started happening.
Error seems to happen more often when I watch something on the internet, or when I quickly browse through the web-pages, or when I'm downloading something. I'm using Windows 7, and another thing to note is that the other computer DOES NOT receive these kinds of errors, and I do believe it does not lag while playing games.The lag after the error and after I start up my pc goes away after some time.
Now there is an issue that I don't really know how to deal with it and its the multiplayer games ping that I get lately , its about 3 months that I get very high pings when connecting online to a multiplayer server , no matter which game it is , the same happens.
I was getting around 380-470 ping while playing on an European server , but then we solved my last problem (The someone that was connected to my home network) and it reduced the ping to something around 250-300 (sometimes it drops to 100-120).
It is still very high , 3 months ago I had a real bad internet connection and when I was playing on European server's I was getting a stable ping of 100-120 that was normal !
A friend of mine got the same connection that I have and he gets a ping of 100-120 and we play on the same servers (same ISP too).
How can I know where the problems come from ? I did move to a new house in a new area , maybe the ISP server's over there are weak and over loaded ? Because when its like 02.00 AM I am getting a stable ping of 100-120 . What is going on here ? Is there a possibility to ask the ISP to move my connection to another area servers or something like that ?
Dell Online is saying my desktop is out of warranty and I cannot lodge and email service request.i have noticed with my XPS8300 then when playing games (not online) or when streaming videos, the wireless NIC will either disconnect (and refuse to reconnect even though it can see the network) or remains connected but does not allow any traffic to flow. The wireless NIC returns to normal roughly a minute afer I have exited / closed a game.
If I try to run online games (i.e. COD Black Ops), I constantly get the "Connection Interrupted" error message despite the wireless NIC showing full connection.To test whether if it's the room, I brought in my laptop and it did not have the same issue. Therefore, I am thinking it could be the half-mini wireless NIC.I have tried looking everywhere but nobody seems to have experienced this or have a solution. Dell just told me to reinstall the drivers, which I've done but to no avail.
I have just bought one of these linksys routers to try and solve a problem I am having with disconnects when playing online games with a ps3 and also some moderate firewall states with some games. My isp is bt and I have a black home hub v2, the problem with this router is that it does not like doing dmz or port forwarding for that matter very successfuly, apparently the new router I have bought is much better at these things.So I'm trying to figure out if its best for me to buy a modem to go with this router or to configure the hh to work as a modem only. Also if I get a new modem will this cause any problems with using the bt vision services.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm experiencing dropping connection and can't play online games because of extreme lag. when pinging certain sites here is the results at the bottom. so very extremely high ping. then after a while like 5 mins, when i hover my mouse cursor at the network icon it says limited access and i don't have any internet connection, even powercycling doesn't work. it stays like that. when using direct connection to the modem only it works fine. but when using the wrt120n router i experience that problem either wired or wireless it stays the same. My firmware is latest, router settings default.

Normally it works fine with no problems, but a few days ago I started getting a connectivity issue. When playing games, even games that don't use the internet connection at all, and ONLY playing games (it's fine as I type this, I'm even dling something in the background), the connection will be lost, and the thing will immediately reaquire the signal and reconnect, the whole process takes like 20 seconds. The result is it's impossible to play games, I get 10k ms lag spikes every couple minutes that last for about 30 seconds, and if I'm playing most server based games (Steam Source games) I just get disconnected outright.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've recently replaced my router with this Belkin (F5D7230uk4) Router, (this one without the wireless reciever Whenever it's used for online gaming, either on my computer, my playstation 3, or my brothers computer the router will lose connection after about 5minutes, then return within about 30 seconds. This happens every single time without exception, and have not been able to play for longer than 10minutes on any occasion since changing the router. I've tried connecting straight to the modem and it all functions correctly with no problems, so I am certain that it is something that needs to be setup with the router. I've searched many forums and posts from people having similar problems, and followed instructions to disable router firewall, disabled UPnP and NAT etc with absolutely no success whatsoever.

I get 5-10 second dropouts in waves pretty randomly. When it happens, I get a couple at a time, and normally have to stop playing out of frustration.I have a powerline adapter hooked up to my pc to the router. That router has an apple router attached by cat5e running a second wireless network somewhere else in the house.I've tried DMZing my pc, disconnecting the apple router, nothing seems to be fixing it.Here are 3 pathpings while my computer is in DMZ, so the router shouldnt be messing with my DHCP (right?). The first one shows it while i was disconnected twice in less than a minutethink this is on my end or my ISP?

View 15 Replies View RelatedI have similiar problem, that just started few days ago, when I installed norton 360 and logmein software. After that day, I havent been able to play War of the Roses Beta game nor Age of Conan game, without internet stopping to work. League of Legends does not trigger this problem for some reason.
When problem occurs I get no connection to internet, although network says it has internet connection. I can connect to internet again after few minutes (5-15) and all is fine, until I play online games again. My friend says he hears me a little while (through xfire) after I get disconnected from the game, I dont hear him though.
I was thinking of making new thread, but I feel the problem might be connected or something. Atleast the problem sounds much like mine.
I've experienced this before, but now I don't remember what I did to get rid of it. Appears after I have reinstalled my computer. Same OS,bit etc just to get rid of all my messy stuff. Does anybody know where I can fix this?

2.) Torchlight 2 reported "Connection failed - Firewall errors detected."
almost all other online applications work just fine (including voice over ip and games)What I've tried (without any success):
1.) I could connect in either case using my old laptop! Thus it works on a different computer, from the same network, at the same/similar time. Thus I concluded it must be somehow related to this laptop (its a new laptop).
2.) The TS2 server & entered information is 100% working, same applies to torchlight2 - also latest updates installed and of course the game is totally legal.
3.) Windows firewall: all the mentioned programs are on the allowed list. Also check whether its correctly set to "home network". Futhermore I also tried disabling the windows firewall entirely.
4.) No other firewall program in use.
5.) Check all programs I know of which might be related to network traffic (e.g. Qualcomm Atheros Killer Network Manager - disabled it).
6.) Tried both, wireless and ethernet cable connection.
7.) Tried all common solutions from similar problems from the forums of the affected programs (e.g. teamspeak2 and torchlight 2 forums).
8.) I even tried running the game, torchlight 2, via Tunngle (explained in a layman's words: a program that simulates Lan over the internet).
Its a new laptop. Network card is labled as "Killer e2200 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller.Runs Windows 7 and did start out empty: i.e. I installed every single program running on the machine and as far as I know none of them should have anything to do with network. Virus scanner is the lastest version of AVG free (no firewall included).
I've recently been being disconnected or dropped in multiple online games, but this is mostly aimed at World of Warcraft, It can be fine for hours or even days but it often comes to a point where I can't stay online for more then 10 seconds.The thing is, it works fine if I connect directly to the modem with out the router, but I have the same problem with 3 different routers including a rather expensive new one I just got.
- The Problem persists on multiple differnt computers with differnt OS and anti viruses
- I've forwarded all the necessary ports

- I've power cycled the router many times
I am playing Hidden Stroke online and i can join games but i cant host, when i create a game my IPV4 address shows up instead of my IP address which means no one can see the game. I am a guest PC on my home Wifi.PS i have already opened all the ports that the game requires to play.
