Wrt52g2 Router - Wifi Disconnects When Play Online Games
Feb 3, 2012
I have just bought one of these linksys routers to try and solve a problem I am having with disconnects when playing online games with a ps3 and also some moderate firewall states with some games. My isp is bt and I have a black home hub v2, the problem with this router is that it does not like doing dmz or port forwarding for that matter very successfuly, apparently the new router I have bought is much better at these things. So I'm trying to figure out if its best for me to buy a modem to go with this router or to configure the hh to work as a modem only. Also if I get a new modem will this cause any problems with using the bt vision services.
I'm experiencing dropping connection and can't play online games because of extreme lag. when pinging certain sites here is the results at the bottom. so very extremely high ping. then after a while like 5 mins, when i hover my mouse cursor at the network icon it says limited access and i don't have any internet connection, even powercycling doesn't work. it stays like that. when using direct connection to the modem only it works fine. but when using the wrt120n router i experience that problem either wired or wireless it stays the same. My firmware is latest, router settings default.
When i go to steam and Select Killing Floor, it gets stuck at the Querrying master server list ...Same with Crime Craft, Stuck at loading Screen..Same with San Andreas Multiplayer, Internet and Hosted tabs not showing any servers..So i guess my modem has some strange setting enabled that doesnt allow to connect to any master servers or something
Everything was fine up to today i cant play any online games such as league of legends or bloodline champions and even spiral knights wont work. Aswell my teamspeak wont connect but my webpages all seem to load and ventrillo works.Ive made sure my ports are fowarded and my firewall was disabled to try ive tried to reboot my pc but still nothing i run a dlink wbr-1310 and a M15 Alienware laptop. But my router has possed problems before because people cant connect to my minecraft server and rift patcher wont work.
Every time I play League of Legends, Rumble fighter, or Maplestory, about 20-30 minutes into the game, my laptop disconnects from my router. Then, when I try to reconnect, the router connection thing magically disappears from the settings. This forces me to restart my laptop. When I DO restart my laptop, the connection is there again. Everything is fine when I surf the web.
I've recently been being disconnected or dropped in multiple online games, but this is mostly aimed at World of Warcraft, It can be fine for hours or even days but it often comes to a point where I can't stay online for more then 10 seconds. The thing is, it works fine if I connect directly to the modem with out the router, but I have the same problem with 3 different routers including a rather expensive new one I just got.
- The Problem persists on multiple differnt computers with differnt OS and anti viruses
I am playing Hidden Stroke online and i can join games but i cant host, when i create a game my IPV4 address shows up instead of my IP address which means no one can see the game. I am a guest PC on my home Wifi.PS i have already opened all the ports that the game requires to play.
i have angels online installed in my laptop and now i'm in the hospital and i'm trying to use angels online, i was able to update the new patch for the games which shows that the internet works but when i try to connect to any of the servers it says that the connection to the server failed. how do i get my online game to work with the public internet?
I have a pretty basic NETGEAR router right now. I have a Zyxel modem that Centurylink sent when I signed up for my DSL service. The Zyxel modem connects to my NETGEAR router. When I play online either wireless or wired from the Netgear modem I have major connection issue. However, if I disconnect from the netgear modem and connect from the Zyxel directly to the ps3 I have zero problems.
I have a E1200 Router and my ISP is Comcast. How to have the best settings to play online. I did the Static IP set up. But I am still having laggy off and on connection. I called Comcast to see what can i do. They said its problems with the router. I enter the right numbers for PS3 in the Single Port Forwarding and Port Range Forwarding. I turn on DMZ and entered the same IP Address as it is on my PS3 I dont have a problem with Resetting the whole Router and starting from scratch ?
I have a D-Link DIR-615 router, hardware version E3, firmware 5.10
When I go to get a list of servers when playing games online, my router lights up and then crashes, and I cant get on the internet again until I exit the game. Although, some games do work. There are no problems with my firewall, and if I connect directly to my modem, I can play fine.
Why I can't play online on xbox live. I'm set on going online but when I go on to play online for MW3(Modern Warfare 3) my NAT Type says strict,I can't join any of my friends games. It says to go on infintyward.com/Nat and when I do it doesn't show my model of linksys (WRT300N) i reset my xbox,my router and still nothing
I just installed two FPS games.. My router reboot every time those game search for servers list. ( So i can't actually play those games) I have a dir-601 n-150 dlink router. I have successfully played online with another connection. I tried opening some ports, but it didn't work. The firmware is up to date.
I restored the computer to factory defaults to have a fresh start. I downloaded some games and this is when I realized my problem. The first instance of the problem was when I was playing a game called "League of Legends". About ten minutes through the game, the game would freeze. It isn't a computer freeze because I could still move the mouse and see people walking in place. I was then disconnected. The second instance was when I was playing a game called "Dragon Nest". I would run through a dungeon and after a short-while everything would start to move in placeI could still move freely but whenever I tried to hit something the hits wouldn't register. After about 30 seconds everything went back to normal and a lot of monsters died and I was hurt. I tested my computers download and upload speed to see if anything was different from my family desktop. My download speed on the laptop is 5 mbps, and the one on the desktop is 26 mbps. The desktop is directly hooked up to the modem, and the laptop is wireless (I don't know if this would be the reason for the difference in speed, and or disconnection/lag issues.) I have also noticed that videos on YouTube load A LOT slower than on my desktop. I finally gave up and tried to use my desktop but I seem to have disconnected from Dragon Nest on there as well (except this time it automatically disconnected me, it didn't have a pause in the game.
I've recently replaced my router with this Belkin (F5D7230uk4) Router, (this one without the wireless reciever Whenever it's used for online gaming, either on my computer, my playstation 3, or my brothers computer the router will lose connection after about 5minutes, then return within about 30 seconds. This happens every single time without exception, and have not been able to play for longer than 10minutes on any occasion since changing the router. I've tried connecting straight to the modem and it all functions correctly with no problems, so I am certain that it is something that needs to be setup with the router. I've searched many forums and posts from people having similar problems, and followed instructions to disable router firewall, disabled UPnP and NAT etc with absolutely no success whatsoever.
I get 5-10 second dropouts in waves pretty randomly. When it happens, I get a couple at a time, and normally have to stop playing out of frustration.I have a powerline adapter hooked up to my pc to the router. That router has an apple router attached by cat5e running a second wireless network somewhere else in the house.I've tried DMZing my pc, disconnecting the apple router, nothing seems to be fixing it.Here are 3 pathpings while my computer is in DMZ, so the router shouldnt be messing with my DHCP (right?). The first one shows it while i was disconnected twice in less than a minutethink this is on my end or my ISP?
When I play games that are downloaded to my PC from Aeria games I run into intermittent latency. It happens every 6 minutes and last for about 4 minutes so for every ten minutes I get to play about 6 minutes. It only happens with Aeria games; all of them.Is this an issue with my connection to the server or is it possible that it is due to security software?
I am having a lot of trouble with my internet, and have been for the past 2 days. I cannot play any games or even use the internet to browse 99% of the time. The only time I can get it to work for about 5 minutes is like so; I open internet explorer and after a few minutes of loading it tells me that it cannot connect to the web page (or something like that). It has a troubleshoot option, after clicking it, it scans for possible solutions but it never finds anything. When it tells me it found nothing, there is another button to explore additional options, the instant I click this button, everything starts working again for a few minutes, and it just doesn't make sense to me why this is happening.I have to study and I need the internet, and I would like to play games again.
Xbox works fine for some things, I can access Netflix, can download from live marketplace, etc, but cannot join a party and cannot play a game. Other people cannot join my party, cannot play my game. Error when I try to join a party is "Can't connect to xbox live party, there might be a network problem."
Xbox join party and games work fine when connected directly to comcast (motorola) modem.Dir-601, firware 1.02NA and 101NA. Hardware version A1.Port forwarding TCP 53,80,3074 and UDP 53,88,3074 - also included TCP 80 and 21 to no avail.
I'v been getting this strange problem. Each 5-10 minutes my internet restarts,it basically shut downs for 20 sec and then reapears, its really annoying because videos take 1 year to load,i cant play any multiplayer games because i get kicked every 5 mins and i cant talk on skype because call crashes each 5 mins.I am using a linksys router.
Ive been having some issues with my router. My main comp is directly connected to the router and while I play games my ping slowly rises. I'm pretty sure it's the router because whe n I connect directly to the cable modem my ping stays fine.
I've tried using dd-wrt and tomatos firmware with same results. what I can do to try to fix or should I just go buy a new router? If so whats recommended that's not to expensive.
At my university I have huge lag spikes when playing Hon (heroes of newerth) my friends are playing and have no issues. As of now, I have turned all the graphics down to the lowest settings, disabled every function of the windows firewall I could find, and ensured no other programs are running (even closed explorer) Any idea what could be causing this? (I have no antivirus active)

I'm having a problem with my PlayStation and Xbox online gaming. my NAT types are too strict to play some games at all and when i set up my network connection i have a NAT type 3. I am not very handy with networking to fix my problem.
whenever i try to play a online game (Gw2 Beta, Diablo3, LoL etc) it goes fine for a few minutes but then the game "freezes" for a few seconds. Meaning everything on screen stops. I.E my character keeps running on the same spot and so on.I tried checking if i lose the connection at the tray bar, but it says its connected during the "freeze" ingame.
Problems connecting to different online services and an online game.Examples:
1.) "Connection timed out" in Teamspeak 2. (debug log not really yielding much useful information). 2.) Torchlight 2 reported "Connection failed - Firewall errors detected."
almost all other online applications work just fine (including voice over ip and games)What I've tried (without any success):
1.) I could connect in either case using my old laptop! Thus it works on a different computer, from the same network, at the same/similar time. Thus I concluded it must be somehow related to this laptop (its a new laptop). 2.) The TS2 server & entered information is 100% working, same applies to torchlight2 - also latest updates installed and of course the game is totally legal. 3.) Windows firewall: all the mentioned programs are on the allowed list. Also check whether its correctly set to "home network". Futhermore I also tried disabling the windows firewall entirely. 4.) No other firewall program in use. 5.) Check all programs I know of which might be related to network traffic (e.g. Qualcomm Atheros Killer Network Manager - disabled it). 6.) Tried both, wireless and ethernet cable connection. 7.) Tried all common solutions from similar problems from the forums of the affected programs (e.g. teamspeak2 and torchlight 2 forums). 8.) I even tried running the game, torchlight 2, via Tunngle (explained in a layman's words: a program that simulates Lan over the internet).
Its a new laptop. Network card is labled as "Killer e2200 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller.Runs Windows 7 and did start out empty: i.e. I installed every single program running on the machine and as far as I know none of them should have anything to do with network. Virus scanner is the lastest version of AVG free (no firewall included).
Basically I started disconnecting when I logged onto Blacklight Retribution after a recent game patch, after a few days the problem stopped and I was able to play again (with no changes to my computer) a few days later another patch was added and the problem occurred again, at first I thought it was a Blacklight specific problem (as this was my only installed game) however i installed a few other games (Kabold Online, Perfect World, Forsaken World, TF2, MW2 and C9) and I got the same problem on each of these games. I haven't been able to log onto a single Online game for more than 5 minutes, normally I'm disconnected at login, HOWEVER, my internet works completely fine in for everything else, i can browse the web, download game clients etc with no problem whatsoever.(Forgot to add, When i disconnect my LAN Cable mysteriously Unpluggs itself (according to computer) and a disable/enable in network manager reconnects it)
- Checked to see if drivers were up to date (they were) - Rolled back NIC Driver (and put it back when this didn't work) - Checked device manager for any problems with my NIC, (working as normal apparently) - Tried setting my NIC to 100mbps Full Duplex - Setting my power options to not interfere with NIC - Had a DHCP error in my event logs so i set my gaming machine to a static IP - Turned of UnUP, Turned on DMZ - Turned off "Green Ethernet" - I had other Errors in the form of a service stopping my NIC - Phoned ISP, Everything is OK there end but they sent out a new router, but problem still occurs - Noticed that a service was sending a stop control to my NIC, looked on forums for fixes and applied several of them - Reformatted computer with old XP (switched from windows 7), updated, installed latest drivers etc and still same problem except now I don't get anything in event viewer when the problem occurs.
The only thing i haven't tried is replacing my NIC, but considering the internet works completely fine for everything but Online games I'm unsure how this could be the problem.
