I'v been getting this strange problem.Each 5-10 minutes my internet restarts,it basically shut downs for 20 sec and then reapears,its really annoying because videos take 1 year to load,i cant play any multiplayer games because i get kicked every 5 mins and i cant talk on skype because call crashes each 5 mins.I am using a linksys router.

I cannot play any games or even use the internet to browse 99% of the time.The only time I can get it to work for about 5 minutes is like so; I open internet explorer and after a few minutes of loading it tells me that it cannot connect to the web page (or something like that). It has a troubleshoot option, after clicking it, it scans for possible solutions but it never finds anything. When it tells me it found nothing, there is another button to explore additional options, the instant I click this button, everything starts working again for a few minutes, and it just doesn't make sense to me why this is happening.I have to study and I need the internet, and I would like to play games again.

It was previously showing 0.0.0.0 for all IP address information etc. I read the last post on this forum considering the issue and guessed at what I should input in under manual. I restored the computer to factory defaults to have a fresh start. I downloaded some games and this is when I realized my problem. The first instance of the problem was when I was playing a game called "League of Legends". About ten minutes through the game, the game would freeze. It isn't a computer freeze because I could still move the mouse and see people walking in place. I was then disconnected. The second instance was when I was playing a game called "Dragon Nest". I would run through a dungeon and after a short-while everything would start to move in placeI could still move freely but whenever I tried to hit something the hits wouldn't register. After about 30 seconds everything went back to normal and a lot of monsters died and I was hurt. I tested my computers download and upload speed to see if anything was different from my family desktop. My download speed on the laptop is 5 mbps, and the one on the desktop is 26 mbps. The desktop is directly hooked up to the modem, and the laptop is wireless (I don't know if this would be the reason for the difference in speed, and or disconnection/lag issues.) I have also noticed that videos on YouTube load A LOT slower than on my desktop. I finally gave up and tried to use my desktop but I seem to have disconnected from Dragon Nest on there as well (except this time it automatically disconnected me, it didn't have a pause in the game.

It has been running smoothly for the past 1.5 years, but have recently discovered that the WLC will randomly restarts itself. I know this because I have seen the disruptions in our wireless network, as well as seen the Up time counter reset itself. I have tried looking at the trap logs to see if there is any significant network traffic that may be causing this, but from what I can tell there is nothing out of the ordinary. The restarts happen randomly at random times. I have never seen a Cisco device behave this way, not a switch, a router or security appliance for that fact. What may be causing the WLC to just reboot itself?

Other people cannot join my party, cannot play my game. Error when I try to join a party is "Can't connect to xbox live party, there might be a network problem."

I have just bought one of these linksys routers to try and solve a problem I am having with disconnects when playing online games with a ps3 and also some moderate firewall states with some games. My isp is bt and I have a black home hub v2, the problem with this router is that it does not like doing dmz or port forwarding for that matter very successfuly, apparently the new router I have bought is much better at these things.So I'm trying to figure out if its best for me to buy a modem to go with this router or to configure the hh to work as a modem only. Also if I get a new modem will this cause any problems with using the bt vision services.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm experiencing dropping connection and can't play online games because of extreme lag. when pinging certain sites here is the results at the bottom. so very extremely high ping. then after a while like 5 mins, when i hover my mouse cursor at the network icon it says limited access and i don't have any internet connection, even powercycling doesn't work. it stays like that. when using direct connection to the modem only it works fine. but when using the wrt120n router i experience that problem either wired or wireless it stays the same. My firmware is latest, router settings default.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIve been having some issues with my router. My main comp is directly connected to the router and while I play games my ping slowly rises. I'm pretty sure it's the router because whe n I connect directly to the cable modem my ping stays fine.
I've tried using dd-wrt and tomatos firmware with same results. what I can do to try to fix or should I just go buy a new router? If so whats recommended that's not to expensive.
I have been able to play streaming video via Windows Media Player with no problems for just about forever until last month.No software has changed. i have the latest firmware (2.39.2e) for the router. i am able to play the same videos when i use my AT&T data connection or when i am connected at work, ,so i know it's not the files i'm trying to view. WMP fails to play whether i am hard connected or wirelessly connected.

Then, when I try to reconnect, the router connection thing magically disappears from the settings. This forces me to restart my laptop. When I DO restart my laptop, the connection is there again. Everything is fine when I surf the web.

I'm having a problem with my PlayStation and Xbox online gaming. my NAT types are too strict to play some games at all and when i set up my network connection i have a NAT type 3. I am not very handy with networking to fix my problem.
Roughly once an hour my games will simply just stop responding, most notably on League of Legends everything else continues to happen around me uninterrupted but I cannot move my character nor can I use any abilities for about ~4 seconds and will do the same for literally every online game I have played.It doesn't seem to cut out my internet but when it happens on occasion it will crash a Skype call for about the same duration the unresponsiveness occurs.I have Optimum Online and a Linksys wired router with Windows 7.

I have had no trouble in the 2+ years I have used it until last weekend when my modem locked up.I first used the ISP's self-repair utility but it failed. I then rebooted the modem and router and got internet back but now the devices cannot connect.The DirecTV DVR HR20-100 reported it as connected to the network but not the Internet and the same with the Blu-Ray.

The network center says it has access and is connected to the internet with zero problems. However, whenever I try to browse the internet or play a game online it will not connect.I've tried reinstalling my nic drivers. The Blu-ray player has built in wireless and I have tried connecting it through a wireless and a wired connection but neither one works. I keep getting an error message that says "DHCP cannot be aquired. Please confirm connection or set it with manual operation." A laptop placed next to the BDPS570 has no difficulty in making a connection. In the past I have overcome this problem by using two Netgear AV200 Powerline devices. However, I now require the Powerlines for a TalkTalk Youview connection and am looking for a cheap and elegent method of reconnecting the BDPS570. windows update did its thing but as soon as it finished downloading and started installing my AVG anti-virus pop'd up requesting to move some files to "the vault", when that happened windows finished installing and asked my computer to restart, after it restarted i tried to go on AIM and Ventrilo (aka Vent), here's i knew something was wrong, I couldn't sign in to AIM all it said was "waiting for Network..." and Vent just simply said "unknown last ip address" I went to command prompt > ipconfig where it said connection-specific dns suffix it was blank, for ip address it still showed my ip same for subnet mask there was still some numbers but, for default gateway it was blank, thinking it must had something to do with the drivers window installed I did a system restore to two days ago, after it rebooted I thought I fixed it, I was able to sign on AIM as well as Vent even able to use google chrome and watch a friend stream on live on twitch tv, so calling it a night I shut down my PC and when to sleep, now to the title, woke up turned on PC got on AIM and Vent perfectly tried to play Maplestory (don't judge XD i grew up with that game) but it said I had to download the game, made sense to me I just got the game a last night but just did a system restore to 2 days before so I started downloading the game it would work for a few moments but then my internet would die and the same problem that I described would happen again, and the only way i could get my internet to work on my PC was to restart the computer?
I download drivers from Nvidia website it self so i did and it said my motherboard drivers were out of date, I downloaded the drivers and installed them, the Nvidia guid said it would uninstall the old drivers and restart the computer and install new drivers but, when the computer restarted it said something about there were other wizerd installings ? and press okay to minimize the prosses so I can close those, I tried but it did some kind of loop saying again that it would unistall and install after restarting and again like last time said there were other programs running, this time i clicked exit, I went back to Nvidia site to see if the drivers for the motherboard installed, the versions matched but the site did state "your drivers are up to date" like it normally would just asked if I wanted to down load the driver as if my motherboard was still out of date?
