Connecting A Sony BPS570 Blu-ray Player To The Internet?
Nov 15, 2012
MySony BDPS570 will not pick up the wireless signal from my router which is sited about 12 feet away through two breeze block walls. A laptop placed next to the BDPS570 has no difficulty in making a connection. In the past I have overcome this problem by using two Netgear AV200 Powerline devices. However, I now require the Powerlines for a TalkTalk Youview connection and am looking for a cheap and elegent method of reconnecting the BDPS570. I could just buy another ethernet cable and swap it for the Youview one when I want to use the 570 but that seems a bit of a fag

I have a Sony SMP-N100 streaming media player that I'd like to attach my old Buffalo Gigabit Linkstation (HD-HG400LAN) NAS via the USB ports that are available on each device. They each have USB A female ports, so I need a USB cable with A-male connectors on each end, right?Should it work?

I have in my basement a router (DLink DIR-655) which is connecting to our ISP, and I have cables running to wall jacks in the first floor. A wall jack which terminates in the living room I have connected to a switch, a DLink 10/100/1000 (DGS-1005G). To this I have my PS3 connected which can connect to the internet fine (although it seems to not get the same upload / download speeds other devices get) and my Sony Bravia TV (KDL-46Z5100). The PS3 registers as GB, while the TV 100MB (its port lights orange).
The problem is I can't get the TV to connect to the internet. If I try DHCP, it doesn't seem to find the DNS server (on another switch connected to the same router in a different room). If I hard code the IP address, still nothing.
I found that if I connect the TV directly into the wall, it can connect. It's just through the switch I'm having problems. Additionally, even I then plug it back into the switch and connect the switch to the wall jack, the connect continues to work. It just seems that i can't get it initialize when connected to the switch.

I've bought a LG HR536D Blu-ray player w/ HDD, and it has DLNA compability, but is well out of range for a wired connection to my wireless router. So, I thought since that all the things that I'd like to watch are on my laptop (Win 7 64-bit) which is in the same room, within reach for an ethernet connection. I have plugged in the ethernet cable, but predictably, they won't talk to each other. And I have no idea how to make them do so. I messed around with matching the IP Addresses, and Bridging the connection with my Wireless connection, but to no avail.

I recently purchased the Magnavox MBP5130/F7 Blue-Ray player. I have been trying to get the player to connect to my wireless network so that I can stream Netflix. I am using a Linksys router. It seems to be a similar problem to the one that Adie of Texas was experiencing. I looked through that thread and did the same things but still cannot get it to connect to the internet. It will connect to the wireless network but will not connect to the internet. The first night I purchased it I some how got it to connect and it updated. Since then I have been out of luck.

It is a wired, not wireless connection. The light isn't even coming on for the port it's plugged into. I tried a different cord, a different port, upgrading the firmware, and restarting each device. Nothing has worked so far.

I recently bought a Sony Bravia HD TV with wireless internet capabilities. When I try to connect to my wireless internet. The TV finds our wireless router name, but when we try to finally connect wirelessly it gives the following message: TV wi-fi found, local access failed and network access failed. The router we have is a Netgear PK500.
On the TV we have three differant ways for the tv to locate the router they are by scanning, the WPS button and by entering the WPS pin. We've tried all three and got the above message.

I just hooked up my new Sony BDV-E570 Blu-ray home theater in a box. Everything looks great except it is not connecting to my WRT110 wireless router. Router is one level below where the home theater system is located, and signal strength appears good (4 bars) on the Blu-ray player, but it repeatedly says "connection failed" when I try to connect. The Wii is also in the same place and has no problems connecting wirelessly to the WRT110 router.

I have a problem getting connected with my wired powerline network to my DirecTV DVR and Sony Blu-Ray player. I have had no trouble in the 2+ years I have used it until last weekend when my modem locked up.I first used the ISP's self-repair utility but it failed. I then rebooted the modem and router and got internet back but now the devices cannot connect. The DirecTV DVR HR20-100 reported it as connected to the network but not the Internet and the same with the Blu-Ray.

I have a Magnavox Blu-ray player, model number MBP5130/F7, that I cannot get to connect to the internet. The Blu-ray player has built in wireless and I have tried connecting it through a wireless and a wired connection but neither one works. I keep getting an error message that says "DHCP cannot be aquired. Please confirm connection or set it with manual operation." I have 3 laptops and 2 video game systems that connect to my router perfectly fine so I really don't understand what the problem is.

I have WRT54G router. The VIZIO VBR231 unit finds the network OK and indicates it is connected, but nothing will stream, and when I run a Network Test it gives me this 3 line error:
Connection to 0.0.0.0... successfully established
Resolving... could not be established
Please check your connection and try again.
The VIZIO support folks were not beneficial at all, and said something about Port 80 or Port 43 not being open or available. When I talked to linksys support, they said I needed to add the VIZIO player's IP (which appears to be 0.0.0.0 in the system settings). I poked around a bit, including the Port Forwarding tab on the router setup, but could not see a way to assign 0.0.0.0 to one of these ports, and I am hesitant to experiment.
I'll probably just return the unit to Costco, but I'm trying this forum as a last ditch effort. BTW I have a VIZIO internet TV that I love, and that had absolutely no problem at all connecting to the wireless.

I'm having an issue with my Sony Bravia 3D TV. It has wireless built in LAN and I've been using it to connect wirlessly through my router. A few days ago it just stopped connecting. I had the network setting on my TV for the IP adress on auto, but I input manual settings (router ip adress) to see if it would work, no success. Everytime I try and connect it says
wirless device- ok
local access- failed
internet access failed
I can use the internet with my computer/phone/portable gaming device, just not the TV. I tried disabling my firewall on my computer to see if it was causing an issue but that didn't work. My router is a gateway 2wire and my computer is a windows vista laptop.I went ahead and did the ipconfig as I suspect it'll be needed?

I have a new actiontec modem/router, used to have a D-link modem/router and all my devices, computers worked fine. now everything connects except the Sony TV with Sony USB wireless lan adapter. I have read a lot of posts and one here was sort of the same. The problem is I get the 169.254.72.161 which I understand is what it sets to when it won't connect to the router and get a new Ip address. I haven't been able to manually put the ip in. Also even connecting with the cable direct to the modem/router still doesn't connect. The member who also had this problem was with his xp win computer. My problem this is with a tv device so I can't release ip or anything. They said his problem was a" be that Winsock2 is corrupted."

Is there a way to get the Internet onto my TV (Sony Bravia DL-46W2000), or do I have to buy a new Internet-enabled one? If so, what's the best one which is most Interneted - or are they all the same?I've heard about TV dongles that maybe can do WiFi to my router? There's no Ethernet or USB socket on the TV; just S VHS/Hi8/DVC; HDMI; SCART; and DVD player sockets.

Basically when I try and connect to my wifi (netgear router) I get a very strong signal but local only access & an unidentified network. I have my desktop & 2 more laptops running off this router so it can't be that. After failing to connect to wifi I tried to use an ethernet connection to try and update my drivers in hope that would fix the wifi problem. After plugging the ethernet in I was in exactly the same position, I kept getting 'Identifying' appear in network connections which then turned to unidentified and wouldn't allow me to connect to the internet either! The laptop is about 3-4 years old I think so I did update the drivers but that didn't do anything either,

Connected via wireless. All ok and says have Internet connection, but cannot access any video content' I.e. iplayer, etc. when check via refresh internet content (as Sony recommend) says "configuration failed while connecting. The system has encountered an error. If problem persists contact Sony (5006)". Sony say wireless strength insufficient, but when tried wired set up be relocating NETGEAR router gives same error message. Have NETGEAR wireless extender good signal with full connectivity via laptop, iPad and iPhone. Also when try server display settings says servers cannot be recognised. When go to options and select update list repeats "servers cannot be recognised. Have checked all IP etc and same as on laptop:
IP Address:192.168.0.11
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1?

we have 3 laptops connected to our home network, 2 Gateways and my Sony Vaio. We have AT&T U-Verse and the 2 gateways get speeds of ~12Mb/s while I get speeds of less than 3Mb/s. I've searched countless forums but I can't seem to find the problem. We got U-verse installed in January and the internet on my laptop was on par with the other ones. But I went back to school and came back home for break and it's as slow as mollases.
