I randomly lost Internet connection, and since have not been able to Renew an IP address! Other people in my household can connect just fine. I've tried numerous things to get my internet back, but continue to be unsuccessful in doing so.

I lost connection for a moment on my computer last Sunday, it connects with a very strong signal but doesn't renew the IP address. I tried Run>cmd>/release>/renew and got a message saying something like "Cannot contact your DHCP server" (something like that anyways)

I have not been able to connect to the wireless connection. I have had some trouble with this in the past when booting up, but usually I can manually select our wireless network on my own and it works fine. But since last week, I have not been able to connect at all. On the Wireless Connection Status, it showed Limited or No connectivity. I tried the repair button in the Wireless Network Connection Status Support tab, and that told me that I cannot connect because I could not renew my IP address.I have tried a few different things, such as doing an ipconfig /release and /renew. Schools coming up, and itd be nice to have internet access on the laptop as well as our desktop.

My computer stopped connecting a few days ago. It had been working great until then. I have two other computers in the same wireless environment and they are working great. I've done all the preliminary checks and had all the settings checked by Comcast (my internet provider) but they were not able to evaluate the problem without cost. I've been unemployed for the last two years so I need to find another option to correct this issue. Every time I attempt to connect, windows says that they are unable to renew the IP address. Limited or no connectivity is shown. I've also noticed that If I leave the home where I'm trying to connect, I'm able to connect to outside sources like Wayport or any other network without any problem. My router is a Linksys Model #WRT320N. It's working just fine with the other computers in the house. I tried cleaning out all my "preferred networks" in the wireless Network Connection Properties but that didn't work either.

I have an RVS4000 located at my office. A user of mine also has one at their house. We have created an IPSec Tunnel between the 2 of them and have them successfully communicating between the 2 networks with no problem.
The problem I have is if I make a change on their end and the router needs to reboot to apply the changes, the WAN port never renews it's DHCP address. The end user must unplug the unit, plug it back in and then the system comes back up with the correct WAN DHCP address, and the tunnel is connected automatically.
I beleive they have the newest firmware (2.0.0.3) but I cannot confirm that right now as the unit is down. I bought the 2 of them at the same time - my unit at the office has the 2.0.0.3 firmware so I am assuming the users does as well.

I have several Cisco WAP4410N access points. They are configured to automatically obtain an IP address through DHCP. This works fine, but I've discovered when the DHCP lease expires, the access point doesn't renew it. It continues to use the same IP address but does not renew the lease. If I reboot the access point, it will renew the lease again. Is this a known issue with the WAP4410N? Is there any way to work around this, other than setting a static IP address or rebooting regularly?

i'm running xp sp3, but it is not completely updated. (i was offline for about 8 months and missed tons of updates, still slowly getting things up to date but not there yet.) i install new programs all the time, but none that seem to coincide with this particular problem.
starting a few days ago, my internet randomly goes out. when i try to "repair" my connection through network connections, it says windows cannot renew the ip address. going to command prompt and trying ipconfig/release or ipconfig/renew gives a message about RPC not available. however, a simple reboot fixes everything. for a few hours or so.
i haven't been able to pinpoint exactly when the problem occurs. i often leave utorrent and peerblock running when i go to work - no other programs running - this is what first alerted me to the problem, coming home to find that at some point my internet went down and downloads didn't finish. just this evening i was surfing the web, watching youtube videos, when suddenly my connection went out. this time, only firefox was running, so not a problem with utorrent or peerblock. something else is causing the problem.

I have two computers - one that is a newer mac with no problems getting on to the wireless home network (from which I'm posting). The other is an older Dell desktop running XP and using a wireless card. I'm trying to setup the desktop on a new network (has worked on other home networks in the past) and I keep getting the "Limited or No Connectivity" and the network repair fails because it can't renew the IP address. In the IP config, I'm getting the default 169.254.x.y.

I'm trying to go wireless with a desktop PC running Windows XP SP2. I've got a 2WIRE router which works fine when plugged into the computer via an ethernet cable. I purchased a Netgear N300 Wireless USB adapter and installed it - it seems to be working fine.
The trouble is that my wireless connection shows "limited or no connectivity," although the signal strength is "very good." When I try to repair the connection, it tells me that I could not be assigned an IP address.
At the moment I'm working via the Ethernet cable with no difficulty. why the wired connection works but the wireless (from the same router) doesn't, even though it should?

Im facing with some DHCP lease issue and its like this,Our Cisco 2951 edge router is configured with local dhcp pool for a set of remote users when they connect through Cisco VPN which was working fine until we planned to change it to a Windows box that is configured for DHCP.The basic idea now is to relay the DHCP requests that are coming from the remote clients through Cisco VPN to the DHCP Windows server. So we added the scope on the server and changed the client config on the router as follows (highlighted is the dhcp relay config). [code]

I have a Linksys WRT310N v1 with firmware v1.0.10 build 002Jul 19, 2010 My router fails to renew it's DHCP lease from my cable provider, causing internet access to drop. I can still access my cable modem at 192.168.100.1, but I must do a "IP Address Release" then "IP Address Renew" to get back internet access. The router works fine otherwise.

I have a (single) client (it is a cisco IOS router) behind a wireless workgroup bridge (cisco1242).The client's IP address is obtained via DHCP from the wired network. Now, when roaming occurs, the Client will never have knowledge about this event, and hence will not renew its IP address until lease expiers. This is not a problem of course when Layer 2 roam occurs, but with Layer 3
roam it will interrupt the traffic.
The cisco's IP Mobile implementation does have this issue addressed in DCCoA scenario: the WGB is configured to send an SNMP trap on its dotradio state change;the cisco mobile router is configured with snmp-server manager to process this trap and start DHCP renew on the Down/Up event. Unfortunately, this works in Mobile IP scenario only because I cannot make it work without the mobile router registered with a home agent.
how to force DHCP renew on a client (cisco IOS router) in such a situation - event scripting, SLA, or ...?

I use this computer at work and at home on wireless network. At work it has been fine but at home I sometimes get the "Limited or no conectivity" message. I have not tried any solutions yet as it usually goes away if I reboot and if that does not do it taking it to work (where it works FINE) and then back home ususlly fixes the problem. Last night I was able to go online and google something but when I clicked on a link it did nothing for several minutes and THEN told me I had 'Limited or no conectivity' where just a few minutes before I was 'connected' signal strength 'excellent'. When I click on 'repair connection' it tells me it can not renew IP address. As stated I have not tried anything, changed anything, and there is no one else using computers on the network

My Dell laptop will no longer connect to the internet and the issue I'm receiving is:
"Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following could not be completed: Renewing your IP Address"
I've run multiple scans on the computer with 3 different programs so have determined it does not appear to be any sort of malware issue but either a windows issue or hardware issue? When this first occurred I performed all the usual steps for repairing the connection, rebooting the router/modem, running IP config to make sure it was even showing up, direct connecting to the router, malware scans, removing dead networks from the auto-connect list, checking TCP/IP properties, checking ipconfig, looking at router settings to make sure nothing is turned off, all to no avail.
I don't know if I missed anything in the areas I looked at, or if I am just looking in all the wrong places. The computer is a Dell Inspiron E1705 with XP Media Center Edition version 2002, Service Pack 3.

So I have decided to register here and see where that gets meWhen I try to repair my wireless network connection, it gives me the error: "Unable to renew your IP address" accompanied by a little bubble that says something about limited or no connectivity. Other computers are working fine, so I doubt it's the modem. If I try to go into the cmd and type in "ipconfig/release" it says that it's already been released. Then when I type in "ipconfig/renew" it takes a while, but tells me something along the lines of "unable to connect to your DHCP server."I've tried the winsock fix and that hasn't done me any good. I've also tried: netsh winsock reset, netsh int ip reset reset.log, and netsh winsock reset catalog. All useless.[CODE]

In our test set up, we have two WLC 5508 Controllers connected via Checkpoint UTM-1 firewall Inside and DMZ Interfaces. Both the WLC controllers are connected to the firewall via Cisco 3750 switch. On the Local (Inside) Controller, guest SSID is enabled and attached to the wireless management Interface. On the remote anchor controller, guest SSID is enabled and attached to the Management Interface as well. The following configs are replicated on both the Controllers.
SSID Name - guest
Interface - Management ( VLAN 10 on Local and VLAN 20 on remote) -
Mobility Group: Same configs at both ends
SSID Anchor : Anchor SSID on local and local SSID on Anchor.
AP: CAPWAP 3502 Management Subnet
[code]....
Is there any thing missing in the wireless configs and or the firewall rules as i could not see DHCP request back from the Anchor Controller. Also, after DHCP is obtained, the web authentication request will be redirected to an Amigopod device for authentication. In this case is the redirect URL congiguration to be performed only on the Anchor Controller or is this to be replicated on both the Local and Anchor Controllers.

I'm using a 2wire 2701HG-B wireless router/dsl modem combo. My computer is a Win 7 Ultimate 64bit. The router/modem has been reliable for the last 2 years.. hardly ever needing a reset, reboot, or anything. Then all of a sudden my wifi network didn't show up anymore. I did a reboot, nothing. Kind of weird so I got on the phone with AT&T and they walked me through some simple stuff and they determined it's either the router or my computer. Well I know it's not the computer, I can use the mobile hotspot on my android phone and it gets on just fine. All of the lights on the router are green, AT&T showed that all the tests show the internet connection is working. Since the router is not sending out a wifi signal anymore, I had to plug the ethernet cable in. The system recognizes a connection but says it isn't connected because it is a "public" connection. Additionally, if I go to network connections with the cable plugged in, I can see my DirecTV DVR is showing on the network (because it is connected to the router via ethernet too). So it isn't broadcasting wifi, I can see my DVR over the network in windows, but I can't get the IP renewed.
Here is the ipconfig /all print:
Windows IP Configuration
Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : thindery-laptop
Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . :
Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Broadcast
IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No
WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No
[code]....
When I try to do an ipconfig /renew, it says this:Windows IP Configuration An error occurred while renewing interface Local Area Connection : The operation was canceled by the user.An error occurred while releasing interface Loopback Pseudo-Interface 1 : The system cannot find the file specified. The AT&T rep said I may need a new modem and router. It seems weird because it worked fine one night, then the next night all of a sudden it didn't work.

After an indeterminate period my E4200 (firmware version 1.0.03) stops renewing the Internet IP address. This happens in both router mode and bridge mode.In router mode the E4200 is set for DHCP and connected to the cable modem, in bridge mode it is connected to a Dell switch with DHCP being provided by my Win2008R2 server. It appears that the device stops recognizing the existence of the Internet port - no lights come on when a cable is plugged in - whether connected to the cable modem or my Dell switch. Plugging the same cable into one of the 4 lan ports and that port lights up immediately (i.e. it is not a patch cable problem). If the E4200 is left switched off for some time (possibly days) it will work properly again for a while.

A few days ago the internet on my desktop was working fine. now it has the 'limited or no connectivity' sign on it and i have done a few things to try and fix this. I started by trying a simple repair. it comes up with 'the following action can not be completed: Renewing your IP address' This lead me to try and restart my PC and router with no luck.
I then decided to look a bit further into it and went ito CMD and flushed the DNS. i then did 'ipconfig /release' which generated the response 'IP address for adapter wireless connection 9 has allready been released'. I then did 'ipconfig /renew' to which it generated an interestin response:
'An error occurred while renewing interface wireless network connection 9 : The RPC server is unavailable'
I have made sure my DNS client is on automatic, alont with my RPC (this was uneditable). Its not a router problem as i have had multiple devices connected before and my laptop is working just fine connecting wirelessly.

I have a cisco 850 that is not getting a WAN ip address thorugh DHCP. I have FE4 (The WAN port) set to get an ip address via DHCP, but when I do a test connection from CCP I get this error: Checking interface IP address…failed. No Ip Address for the interface has been obtained. The interface is configured to obtain an ip address through dhcp. The remote end may not be configured with a dhcp server or the dhcp pool may be empty.
Please contact your ISP or WAN administrator and check if the server has been configured to lease ip addresses to the client’s connection through DHCP. Retest connection.I know that the modem is providing an ip address via dchp, because I can plug my computer directly into the modem and get an ip address, so I think I may have missed a setting on the router. Here is he running config: [code] I think the problem may be the Firewall is not letting dhcp through (even tough I haven't set it up yet, and there are no rules in the firewall yet). But I'm not 100% sure about that.

I have 2 computers that cannot/will not acquire an IP address from my DLink router. There are 2 other computers that aren't having any problem at all...so I assume that it is not a problem with the DHCP service of the router. The 2 computers are laptops: one netbook running Windows XP and another standard laptop running Windows Vista Home Premium x86. Both computers are running McAfee and I have scanned with McAfee and Malwarebytes, and both are malware-free (no infections were found on either system on first scans...so it's not like I'm dealing with a system that has had infections removed). When connected to the network, they attempt to acquire an IP address, but cannot for some reason and then Automatic Private IP Addressing takes over and they come up with a 169.254.x.x address. I cannot figure out why this takes place, as I have gone through Winsock repair, uninstalled and reinstalled both network adapters (ethernet and WLAN) on both laptops and nothing seems to make a difference. I have even tried disabling APIPA by adding the "IPAutoconfigurationEnabled" DWORD value in the registry......still the same. I have manually configured the adapters with a static 192.168.0.x address, and I can begin to communicate on the local area level...but still cannot establish any kind of Internet connection.

The laptop can connect to the internet using the wifi card. However, it cannot connect to the internet when using the wired connection but it can be pinged from other machines at work. The NIC does not pick up a different IP address even after releasing and renewing the IP address through cmd. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the NIC. The NIC is working because when I set a static IP address the machine can connect to the net. Using DHCP it goes back to that same IP address. I have tried a winsock repair as well with no go, as well as taking the machine off the domain and re-joining it. Is there something I can do on my end to get a different IP address through DHCP or do I have to get a Network engineer involved? This is a machine on a corporate LAN?
