Dell :: Inspiron 8200 Wireless Connection Adapter Will Not Stay Connected
May 14, 2013
I have a Tenda router and Realtek USB wireless adapter. My 8200 has XP svce pk3. The adapter will not stay connected. Some times it shows connected with 100% signal strength and after few seconds drops out. I cannot find any radio switch on this laptop. Fn/F2 does not work and there is no mention of wireless in the bios settings. I feel that the radio is not switched on but how do I do this?? Is my configuration incorrect?

I have had several laptops, apple, HP, IBM Thinkpads, and others. No-one has frustrated me like Dell. I have the inspiron 15z Ultrabook for only 2 months now and it's drives me crazy. There are a lot of other forums out complaints out there that say the same thing I'm experiencing about the Wi-Fi adaptor of the Dell inspiron 15z Ultrabook.Within our family we have 4 laptops and sometimes when the kids are home visiting with friends there can be 6 to 8 laptops within our home online at the same time. But, I will have to make a correction, because the Wi-Fi Adaptor on the Dell inspiron 15z Ultrabook continuously drops off the net. It does it so frequently I’m embarrassed to tell others. It isn’t a fast fix either as it can take up to 20min to get the win-Fi adapter to start receiving internet signal. Sometimes it only takes 5min. What is odd, all of our other laptops, both new and old, never have this problem unless the power goes out after the storm . I have updated all the drivers and followed the steps on a Dells customer support. I love the touch screen, the keyboard with light behind the keys.
BUT, I can't live with the Wi-Fi adapter that cannot hold on to a signal and ends making the simplest of work a headache. Just last night I spent over an hour trying to get back on a wireless connection and finally had to go to an old XP laptop to get online. The whole point in having an Ultrabook is having a machine that is portable, works effortlessly with wireless connections and makes where ever you are a virtual office.

When we first bought the computer, it worked fine but we sent it with my oldest sister to college and she messed it up. Since she brought it back, it will not stay connected to our home wireless network. It will stay connected for about an hour and then it will quit and then the computer has to be restarted for it to work again. I checked for all the updates and the wireless card and everything was fine.

I received my new XPS 15 yesterday and it will connect to the wireless for a minute or two, then it is gone! I have 3 other computers on the network, so my internet/router is fine. Dell support tried to remotely fix it for a couple of hours last night.

I have an older Inspiron 8200 with XP I'm trying to fix up. I added an internal 802.11g card and it connects to my wireless network just fine. For some reason the connection only stays open for about 10 minutes or less and then it disconnects. If I try to reconnect to my network it works, and then the same thing happens again.
It doesn't do this when I plug it into a wired LAN. It does do the same thing when I try to use a wireless USB or PC card adapter.
why it keeps dropping the connection? And why it won't automatically re-connect? The laptop is very near to my router so I know I'm getting a good signal. Other laptops work fine with the router.

I am having Inspiron N4010 for almost an year now. I have had many troubles with this but never with internet connectivity. Last week I saw myself not being able to be connected to internet through wireless or wired network while everybody else was connected and surfing. I just thought it to be a small problem and the problem seemed resolved that very day itself on its own.
But today this computer has simply failed to get connected. it does get connected, open a page or two and then again refuses to connect. On the problem diagnoses from network sharing center, it was showing that the websites are not responding, then it started showing that DNS server was not responding while all my setting are correctly configured. I pinged gateway and it responds but on pinging some website there is no response at all. It s a problem with my laptop only as everybody else are using internet very well. I am using internet through my WiFi enabled cell phone using the same connection and router that i use for my laptop. I need an urgent solutions as I have to meet some deadlines regarding assignments.

The weird thing about it is that if I reinstall windows (windows xp, sp3) and the drivers then it works. But the next day it has the same problem.Tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers.Switching off all antivirus and firewall settings

attempted to upgrade their wireless adapter? I know I can go buy a $40 fat USB adapter, but I would like to get dual band abilities without a USB adapter. I hate that I got an upgraded Inspiron 15R that did not have a dual band wireless adapter.

I have a 5 month old Dell Inspiron 1564 with a Dell WLAN 1397 Wireless card. I was having some trouble connecting to my wireless router, and as a last attempt to get it working, I uninstalled and reinstalled the driver for my wireless card, using a fresh download of the latest version from Dell's support site.
The driver seems to install fine, and when I look at the wireless card in Device Manager, it's enabled, but in "Control PanelNetwork and InternetNetwork Connections" (which can be accessed through the Network and Sharing Center), it is grayed out and says Disabled.
When I click enable in there, a small window pops us saying "Enabling", then after a few seconds, it says "Enabled" then disappears. However, the adapter stays disabled in N/W & Sharing center, and isn't picked up by Windows.
I've tried reinstalling the driver through Dell's driver installer, as well as through Windows' automated driver search, and neither works. I also tried to do a System Restore, but that is not working (can't complete on any of the restore points).
I also spent 1.5 hours on the phone with Dell support and their final advice was format and reinstall Windows.
More details:
- I am running Win 7 Pro.
- Wired networking and internet connection works fine
- I have Zone Alarm and Avast Anti virus, and I've tried disabling both to no avail

I recently reinstalled my OS of my E1505 and was installing drivers from the Dell Resource CD (which was for an ME051, is this a problem?). But, after installing all of the drivers and system software my Intel ProSet Wireless program still says there is no supported wireless adapter on the computer...I also cannot create a connection when I connected the laptop to my hardline DSL cable.
In addition, the video card driver will not install saying that one or more files needed to complete the install were missing and it closes the install wizard. Just in case any of you can answer that as well.

I had to Reinstall my windows Vista OS. My WNA was working prior to the OS reinstallation, so I am confused a bit. I have no idea how to reinstall drivers in order that dell gives me. I have downloaded the drivers from the Dell downloads section;however, I don't know what to do next. I tried to go to device manager and find network adapter, but it does not appear, only an "other" section with some ! marks next to them.

I have Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop, which I bought 3.5 years back. The laptop used to work fine before. I just shifted home 1.5 month back. Previously I used to have the wireless router always close to my laptop, so I never realized this issue. Now the wireless router (802.11n) for Fibre optics internet is in the ground floor and my studio is on 2nd floor. In my office latop, which is a new one, I get 3 out of 5 signal bars and get 34-56 mbps signal. But my Dell laptop does not get any signal, but when it is closer to the router it works fine.
if I buy an USB network Adapter device which is n series and supports upto 300mbps signal, then will it improve the situation? If yes, then which devices are preferred and how can I know whether that new device is compatible with my laptop settings (as this is a bit old one) or not? If not, then how can I improve the wireless reception? I have tried with booster etc already. I have also updated the network adapter drivers.the wireless card I have is: Dell Wireless 1395 WLAN minicard?

To reinstate here. It is a refurbished notebook. I don't know if that has anything to do with my problem. But there is no wireless on/off switch. And pressing FN and F2 at the same time is not enabling my wireless adapter. Is there any way to enable it? Or could I have a faulty wireless adapter?

I have a Inspiron M5110 Laptop and was having some trouble staying connected to my internet so this morning I decided I would try and update the drivers. I have uninstalled the Wireless and Blue Tooth drivers and reinstalled them, but now, it won't even TRY to connect at all. In the bottom right corner, there's a red x over the wireless bars, and says No Connections are available. Before , it would have a spinning circle while trying to connect, but it doesnt have that at all anymore. My Ethernet connection is working fine, I even uninstalled and reinstalled that driver (REALTEK) and its working with no problems.
If I run IPCONFIG, the wireless adapter doesn't even show up anymore. I've tried resetting, disabling, anything I could think of. I tried several versions too of the drivers, but nothing is working. Right now, I removed it, so I have a yellow exclamation mark next to Network Controller in my Device Settings. My hardware ID for the adapter is PCIVEN_168C&DEV_002B&SUBSYS_02051028
I think from the above info, I believe the wireless adapter belongs to Atheros.how I can get this thing to even attempt to connect to a network? I'm dead in the water...

We just recently signed up with Time Warner Cable for internet access. The modem they gave us is also a wireless router. So we set up our wireless network like we should but for some reason my desktop computer won't stay connected to the new wireless network. We have a laptop downstairs that doesn't have any problem staying connected. I can connect to the neighbors wireless network and I have no problems staying connected. I can't figure out why my desktop won't stay connected to our network
