Dell :: Inspiron Q15R - Some Websites Do Not Work Using Router At Home But At Other Locations Fine

Nov 12, 2011

We have a brand new Dell Insprion Q15R laptop which works fine apart from the fact that certain websites hang when we try to log on at home using our edimax router and we cant get into them. Other websites work fine. Also we have an old IBM laptop where all websites work fine. Its just the Dell that is playing up on certain sites. However if we go to somebody else's house and log on using their internet connection and router the websites in question work fine on the Dell.

Examples of the websites that we cant access at home and just hang are : argos, easyjet, national rail, expedia

Dell :: Inspiron Q15R Laptop - Half Of Websites Attempted Hang With IE9 / Windows 7

Oct 7, 2011

We have just got our daughter a brand new Dell laptop for her birthday, it is fine apart from she cant get into half the websites she wants to. On these websites internet explorer just hangs.

Examples of hanging websites are:Argos, Travel Republic, Easy Jet, Vue Cinemas, Bin weevils, National Rail, Expedia, Ebookers

The laptop has Windows 7 and Internet Exolorer 9.I suspect it is something to do with the dreaded Flash but the laptop has Adobe Shockwave Flash Object enabled and any attempt to download Adobe Flash Player results in a 12% timeout download (always 12%)

Funnily enough I have an old Dimension 5000 which behaves in exactly the same way including the 12% download but I expected a brand new laptop to work..Is this a known bug with Dell products ie. you cant access half the websites on the internet without a load of grief ?

Dell :: Inspiron 6400 - Very Slow Internet Via Ethernet - Fine When Using Wireless

Jul 9, 2012

I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 running Windows Vista with a Broadcom 440x10/100 Integrated Controller.  I've had the computer for 5 years, and have always connected to the  internet using wireless with no problem.  Just moved to a new place, don't have a router yet, and now when I try to connect via the ethernet cable my internet is sooo slow, taking about a minute to load a page.  My roommate's computer runs great using the ethernet.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Wrt160n Can Access Work Network From Multiple Public Locations From IPad

May 17, 2010

home router is a wrt160n v3 With my iPad I set up the built in IPSec VPN to my office's cisco gateway. I successfully get the VPN logo. With an RDP app, i can access my work network from multiple public locations from my iPad. At home, on my laptop, I start the cisco client then use the windows rdp, presto i'm in my work network. At home on my iPad I can activate the VPN, but I can not connect with rdp. I spoke with linksys support tonight they had me add port 3389 to port range triggering and disable the firewall on the home router. This didn't solve the problem. To recap: 1) I can connect to my work network with rdp from multiple public locations, but not at home with the iPad 2) I can connect to my work network at home with my laptop with the cisco client ant the windows rdp

Dell :: Inspiron 1546 - Wi-Fi Won't Work

Oct 26, 2012

I recently re-installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on my DELL INSPIRON 1546 and everything seems to work fine, except the wi-fi. It won't search for any wireless devices (including the router I have at home), showing "Not connected. No connections available". The wi-fi hotkey is not working.

When checking the Device Manager, it shows me that no Network Controller driver was found. As I could not get the driver online, I downloaded it from Dell website via my friends PC and got it into my PC via USB stick. Here comes the most interesting part...

When I try to install the driver, it says that it is not compatible with my system.

Dell :: Inspiron 1300 Wireless Does Not Work?

Oct 29, 2012

My wife has a Dell Inspiron 1300 which crashed.  I was able to start it again using the Dell Operating System Reinstallation CD for XP Professional but the wifi (wireless) does not work.  Before the crash it had a working wireless connection.   It appears that I need to reinstall a driver for it.  How can I get a driver when I have no internet connection on that computer?  I have tried loading on a flash driver from another computer, but it doesn't seem to transfer.  What driver do I need and how can I get it to install on her computer?

Dell :: Inspiron 700m Can't Get Wireless To Work

Jan 18, 2010

I got an inspiron 700m laptop as a hammydown from my sister. It had all sorts of problems, so I had to order a new copy of windows XP and install that. I've been trying to connect to the wireless network at my college, but the instructions they give say to go to network connections and start by clicking the "wireless connection" icon. There is no such icon. I've tried all sorts of different drivers from dell for this model and none of them seem to do the trick. I know i have a wireless card becuase I've opened a little panel on hte bottom of the computer and seen it myself.

Dell :: Inspiron 570 - Unable To Get Wired Network To Work?

Jul 12, 2013

I have an Inspiron 570 desktop that has worked fine for at least 6 months since the warranty expired...we had a power surge last week while I was gone and when I returned I was unable to get the wired network to work.  I ran the diagnostics and it said that my cable was not plugged in...it was.  I rebooted, reseated cables, etc. with no luck.  I reset the cable modem and router, reseated cables, rebooted, etc with no luck.  I plugged the cable into a laptop and it worked fine.

The diagnostics tools on the desktop indicate there are no issues with the network adapter and that it is allegedly working fine. What I have noticed is that the light indicators on the RJ45 jack on the back are steady state yellow and orange, regardless of whether there is a cable plugged into it.

Wireless Connection On Dell Inspiron E1505 Laptop Does Not Work

Dec 20, 2011

I have a Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop that is about 6 years old running Windows XP. I have a Dell desktop with a cable modem and Linksys wireless router connected to the desktop to run my home wireless network.

Yesterday the wireless no longer worked on my laptop. I have a small wireless icon (looks like a computer monitor) with a yellow triangle with an explanation point inside. The messages are 'Signal Strength: Excellent' and 'Status: Limited or No Connectivity'. I have tried the following with no success:

- Rebooting the laptop (multiple timess)

- Resetting both the cable modem and router

- Turning off the desktop, resetting both the cable modem and router, and rebooting the desktop

- Took my laptop to work where a wireless connection is available and received the same messages

Thinking my wireless adapter / wireless card is bad I purchased a Linksys wireless USB adapter and just installed it. However it also cannot connect to my wireless network and issues a 'Open network Failure' error.

The Internet works fine from my desktop but is directly connected to the modem. I have not tried connecting the modem directly to my laptop to see if it would pick up the connection.

I then installed a Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 and Internet Explorer 8. However the wifi (wireless) does not work. I went to setup and assured that it is enabled. I assume that I have lost the driver for it. Before the crash it had a working wireless connection. I need to know what driver to install to make it operate. Broadcom 802.11n adapter

Kept all the disks shipped with the lappy, Prepped the HD per the media rules, loaded windows and the mediadirect and the driver resource CD..  they all had autoexecs and seem to run fine.   Failed to connect to the net.. checked it out on device mgr, found the code 10 fail..  All other drivers seemed to have loaded..

tried to update the driver..  it said it already had the correct driver. - fail

DLed the Broadcom driver to a thumb and installed it - no difference.  Rebooted..  several times during all this.

Read here it might be install order - thought I might try it manually.  Looked for Intel T7250 drivers.. "not currently available" here.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54G V1 Connection Works Fine Except Home

Home Network :: Setting Up Networks With Multiple Locations / Wireless Points?

Feb 11, 2011

setting up networks with multiple locations and multiple wireless points. For example: My sisters' home has here modem in her main computer room, it has a Belkin router hooked to the modem. Then a line goes from there to my nephew's room where I tried to expand their network by adding another router. I really just wanted an access point, but they don't seem to sell these as much as they used to. Anyway, I had it working, but it was two different networks, NETWORK1 and NETWORK2. So they had to swap networks when moving around the house. what would be the best hardware setup to provide both sides of the house with some Hardwired access as well as wifi access? Right now, we have two routers, a DIR615 (or something like that) and a Cisco E1000, and again hardwire going from the main computer room to my nephew's room. Also, in my house, I have lots of stuff... I have an Actiontec Router from FIOS, feeding a small hub as well as a switch in my main room. Which then feeds a Ps3, Wii, laptop, Denon reciever, and Access Point... and also feeds my Apple TimeCapsule, which also feeds my printer. My wireless devices range from cameras, iphones/ipads, and a wifi unit (I forget what it's called, but it connects my DVR wirelessly to my network, and the DVR itself doesn't have wifi).

my question about my setup is, should everything be on one network... as in let the ActionTec handle most of the duties and use switchers and accesspoints to extend the network. Should everything be on the same wireless network and channels? Like if I used my access point to extend, do I want the same settings as my main wireless router, and would that be the same for the Apple Airport Extreme? Also, does having all these wireless networks going create any kind of hinderance on my performance. For example, the PS3 has some sort of wifi in it... it produces a SSID, but I never connect to it. Should I make sure that's off? And in my main room, should I go with just the AirPort extreme over using it and the Wireless Access point.

Desktop PC Internet Is Really Slow But All Other Computers Work Fine

A couple of days ago I bought a new desktop PC (Here is the link if anybody wants info on the PC [URL] but anyway, I'll get to my problem. My wireless router is downstairs in the living room and my desktop PC is upstairs in the bedroom. Theoretically, My PC's wireless card should be able to reach the router perfectly, being as I have several other PC's in the house that I use from my bedroom and the connection is 'Very Good' to 'Excellent'. Although with this new computer the connection's strength is very weak and it's so slow using the internet or trying to download things. It's internet is almost unusable. I've tried swapping the wireless card, but to avail. The connection is still awful.

Or of a way to boost the signal of my wireless card?

Websites Work On And Off

Jul 22, 2011

Since thunder caused a brief shortage a week ago, I have been getting this error a lot:So when and how does this happen? Some of the time, all sites work perfectly. The rest of the time, about half the sites I try to visit yield this error. I might be browsing Website X for a while, and spontaneously, I start getting this blank screen error message for every page on that site. Unreachable sites usually start working within ~10 minutes though. Some sites always work (e.g. Reddit and Google, but not always the images in Google Images). If I try this on my laptop, using the same network cable, everything works perfectly. My computer is the only one in the house that has this error, for some reason.I have tried "ipconfig /flushdns", "ipconfig /renew", Google's DNS and OpenDNS, the "repair connection" thingie in Windows XP, restarting the server (well, my dad has), opening sites in Internet Explorer (I usually use Firefox) and unplugging/replugging my router.I haven't had any success although I have twice been tricked into believing that I've solved the problem, since all sites have randomly decided to work for a few minutes (non-reproducable of course).
