i've been having problems hosting a wireless network on my dell inspiron 7720, windows 8. each time i set up a new network, it successfully sets up but then i don't find it afterwards, neither do others who try to connect.
View 1 RepliesI bought a Dell Inspiron17R SE 7720 with an Intel Wireless 2230 card. I was told I could connect a Netgear Push2TV adapter that would allow me to connect to my TV wirelessly. When I went to connect it, I was able to get the TV to the point of asking me to Launch my Intel Wireless Display. I go to my programs but cannot find anything that mentions Wi-Di. I am not very tech savvy, so I don't know what to do. Is there a driver I can download? Am I missing something on my computer programs? Should I use another method and send the part back to Dell?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a Wi-Fi connection problem on my Dell Inspiron 17R SE 7720 with Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230. Every time after I log in to Windows I can’t use internet for about 5 to 15 minutes. After that time everything seems almost OK. During this time there’s yellow exclamation mark on my connection icon (saying that there’s no internet connection) just for a few seconds, than it dissapears and apparently internet connection is OK (signal strength is very good the whole time), but during this 5-15 minutes downtime I can’t use internet. Websites by domains don’t respond, neither pings do, but when I ping eg. google.com by its IP it responds quickly, so I thought it’s a DNS issue.Connection settings are automatic. DNS servers (resolved automatically) of my cable ISP respond OK when I ping them during the downtime. So just to check, I’ve set manually DNS servers to Google public DNS servers (both IPv4 and IPv6). It didn’t work.
I don’t use antivirus software other than Windows Defender. The issue occurs with and without firewall. I have the most recent both BIOS (A11) and Wi-Fi drivers (15.3.1.2 downloaded from Intel site). My system: Windows 7 Home Premium PL 64bit. I keep the system updated with Windows Updates. The issue occurs when Windows manages my connection and also when I have Intel PROSet/Wireless WiFi software installed.I don’t allow Window to turn off the WiFi card (device’s energy settings). I’ve set Roaming Aggressiveness to 5. Highest and Ad Hoc Channel 802.11 b/g to 11 (I’ve seen such a piece of advice somewhere). Maybe it’s something with compatibility with the router, by the issue doesn’t occur of any other device in my network (Android phones, Kindle, iPad). I’ve got Cisco EPC3925 from my cable ISP. They didn’t give me the password, so for now I can’t change its settings.

I bought my first Dell laptop (Inspiron 7720) and I can't make my bluetooth audiosystem (Logitech Mini Boombox) to work. I've got positive experience on Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo Xi2550 and on HP Compaq 6530b, where I had to just download another drivers for widdcomm bt adapter. I tried to do this trick o this computer, but I get only three bluetooth peripheral devices, which I can't install, because there is no driver for them. What shoud I do to make audio transfer through A2DP to work?Bluetooth drivers are working, I am able to pair the device. Problem is in instalation of all services.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an Inspiron 17R SE 7720 that is about a half-year old. This problem has been occurring for as long as I can recall. I'm running Windows 8, but this problem was identical with Windows 7.
My Ethernet adapter, a Realtek 10/100, works on boot-up. At some random point it stops working. It could be days later, it could be after waking up, it could be within an hour of a boot without sleep. "Network Connections" shows the adapter as enabled but unplugged. I can correct the problem by disabling the adapter and then re-enabling it, but that only works maybe a couple of times in a row. In the latest instance (moments ago), I right-clicked the adapter to disable it, and then right-clicked to enable it again. Normally the adapter would then show the adapter as enabled and the cable connected. When things really go wrong, a window pops up that first says "Enabling..." and then "Enabled", but it is still grayed out and not enabled. The only solution I have is to reboot the machine.
My new computer was delivered December 21, 2012. Imagine my surprise that I can't connect to my wireless connection unless I am less than 10 feet away from the AT& T wireless router. There are 3 computers 1 floor up and 30 feet away that can connect, so I know it isn't that the signal isn't strong enough. My Inspiron 9300 that I have had since 2005 can connect and I am using it right now. Here's my specifics.

The new computer will hook up when extremely close to the router but it does lose the signal occasionally even though I am only 10 feet away.
cannot find a button to enable wifi on wife's dell 1440. do not know the combination of function keys to enable wifi. self diagnostic says wifi is turned off.

the computer was using a different program to manage the wireless connection. Even though it said it was connected, my internet didn't work. Not knowing anything about this new program, I removed it and tried to connect with the Windows wireless manager. It didn't acknowledge any of the wireless connections around, just a computer-to-computer connection. I took it to a friend's apartment to use their computer and internet to search for options and it still didn't recognize any networks around, now not even the computer-to-computer connection. It now tells me "No wireless networks were found in range. Make sure the wireless switch on your computer is on...." The Mini doesn't have a "switch," but I read where F2 can turn it on...however, pressing Fn-F2 is not working for me, either.

My home network is now open and unencrypted (running G), but it still wont connect. However, I installed a USB wireless adapter, and I can connect without issue. So I dont think its a firewall, etc. I think its something with the built in adapter...

I just bought a new Dell Inspiron 3520 (service code: <Admin Note: removed per privacy policy~RK>) which came with Ubuntu. Although I had to install windows 7 32 bit and I am facing a driver issue with wireless adapter. When I try to connect to the preferred network I get "Unidentified Network - No Internet Access".
I know this is a driver problem because it works well on Ubuntu. So as the original configuration from Dell site lists: "WIRELESS : DELL WIRELESS 1703 CARD"

Wednesday 12-12-12, purchased a Dell Inspiron 3520 with Windows 8. Installed Win 7 Home Professional and downloaded drivers for network communications. All loaded except Network Controller & BCM43142A0.I have tapped Fn + F2 (to turn on wireless) Device Manager has a yellow ! on these.Trying to update driver over Internet or HDD gets = Windows could not find driver software for your device.
When I go to Network locations to connect to a network, it says, "No connections available".When I click properties for "Network Controller", I get PCI bus 7, device 0, function 0, No driver selected Code 28 Laptop only works with wired connection?
What is the best way to set up a network. Is the network wizard the way to go? Some of that terminology I dont get relative to hardware in the checklist section. I have a filtered system on all phone jacks for the signal and plugged in to the router with the phone line to the modem to the dell as primary.Peripherals are epson scanner, HP Officejet pro 8000 wireless ( i have it wired for now. thru the modem. My other PC a HP Model Pavilion d4650e with same OS. It has a linxs wireless usb adapter for Internet supply. I think I have everything I need hardware wise to proceed with the wizard.

If you have enabled another prog. to manage this connection use that software. Then it says ifI want windows to config., start WZC service. I am a novice and don't understand any of this. View 3 Replies View Related have an Inspiron N5030 (Model 5030-8277) which says it runs Windows 7 as a 64 bit OS. When I looked in the System Properties it confirmed it was a 64 bit OS.
However, upon trying to load the Windows 8 Consumer Preview (through VM Ware 8 - which has worked on my other 64 bit system so its not the file which is corrupt or the wrong VM Ware) the OS doesn't load in the virtual machine due to my system apparently being 32-bit and therefore incompatible with a 64-bit .iso file...
I have updated my BIOS to the most recent version available for my model.
So am I actually running on 64-bit or do I need to download specific drivers?

I get a Windows security message recommending I do not allow the redirect (which I can choose and force the redirect). My question is - Is there a setting I can modify to allow this redirect to eliminate the security warning? Our old laptop ran on XP and redirected without any security warning.
