Internet Is Connected But Cannot Browse / Unknown Device
Jun 5, 2012
My desktop's internet connection is acting up. It's always worked fine, then all of a sudden it has stopped. I can still access MSN messenger and Paltalk, perfectly fine, and it is showing that I have an internet connection. However, when I open any of my browser windows, it cannot access the internet. My laptop and ipod are connecting fine on the wireless. I have my ethernet cable from the desktop plugged into the router, which is plugged into the modem. I CAN force the connection to work by 'talking' to the modem (using the IP address) and doing a disconnect and reconnect. This lasts for a little while, then it stops again. When I do my network map, it shows an 'unknown device' where the modem is supposed to be. When I disconnect and reconnect the modem, it changes from 'unknown device' to 'switch'.
I am running windows XP on a computer that I use solely for my business' POS system - therefore not being able to connect to the internet is a problem as I cannot process credit cards. I have checked with the linksys (for router) and internet service provider - everything is working fine as you can see because I am posting from another computer. However the computer that is hardwired to the modem and router cannot access the internet. I get a "connecting" message then a quick "login failure" then a " internet explorer cannot display this page" message
We usually connect to a remote server through VPN connection. Nowadays we are unable to browse internet after we estabilish VPN connection. I searched many forums and site and got a temporary solution Go go properties of VPN connection - click on networking tab - properties of IPv4/ IPv6 - go to advanced - in ipsettings tab - uncheck "use default gateway on remote network"
After doing this Im able to browse internet but my concern is the external IP should be of the remote system and not my original IP so that I get access to my remote LAN network.Even I'm able to find a temporary solution for this. After doing this setting we need to connect VPN and disconnect it and go for same setting but you need to check "use default gateway on remote network". Now connect VPN and everything seem to work fine , I'm able browse internet and my IP remains of the remote network and everything is working fine till the VPN connection is disconnected.
I have no virus/malware (malwarebites) that i can find. All of the firewall's i know of are off and all antivirus software.I Have a desktop computer with Windows XP Pro. I have Cable internet and I am connected through a modem > router > computer.I will copy & paste (from flash drive) onto here the following commands as i have seen numerous requests for this information on other inquiry's that i have read.
Computer always says it is connected to the internet, but I can only browse sometimes? I can always talk on chat on skype and use spotify. Other programs, like League of Legends I can also use, if I was signed in while the internet was working BUT if I start a game while not being able to browse, the game will crash when I'm about to go in-game. Everyone else in my house can access the internet from same router.
I have an issues with a hp pavillion desktop. I just reinstalled vista home 32 bit and everything loaded just fine open IE and down at bottom left ip address is showing instead of verbal address. It displays internet explorer cannot display the webpage. ive tried diagnose connection problem and it tried to reset netowork adapter with no luck.Reinstalled network card, reset IE browser to default, started in safe mode with networking and still nothing.I pinged yahoo and got 4 recieved 4 sent. I have no errors in device manager. I called Isp provider and they said something is blocking from recieving, i need to take it in to have it fixed. i have 2 other computers on the same network wirelessly working fine, unplugged cable from hp destop and plugged it into other pc and cable is working just fine.
i'm having difficulties with my internet connection.. My internet is plugged in and it says it works. But I can't browse any websites, it's like i didn't have internet. I can play online games, i can go on steam and talk or play online and I could ping in cmd as well. I'm running window 7 64bit.
I have already trying to fix with :
1) reset tcp/ip with netsh thing
2) flush dns
3) uncheck proxy in internet explorer
4) run avira antivirus, malwarebyte, spybot, cccleaner, tuneup utilities
5) try to connect with mozilla, chrome, internet explorer but fail.
5) trying to connected in safe mode with networking but still fail. none of this solution work

I currently have 3 computers in my home: 2 PCs and 1 laptop and all three are wired with Ethernet cords. The PC's are not the problem the laptop is. Day before yesterday I was able to connect to the internet with the laptop now yesterday and unfortunately today I am having the same trouble. I spoke with my DSL provider and all is good on that end and the router (NetgearDGN2000) is working well because there is no problem with the laptops. The tech for my DSL provider said it sounded like it was an ip configuration prob. But since it's a third party product (no problem). LOL and I've been on hold for C.S. for netgear for quite a long time. I prefer getting my info this way because I can grasp the info a lot better and in the unlikely event I have this problem again.[CODE]
Basically, my internet claims to be connected (via wire to router, computer isn't wireless enabled.) but when I open a browser (I normally use Chrome but no browser is working) it came up with the Error 105 no matter what address I try to accessSo far, I have tried resetting my router and waiting, using cmd to reset winsock and resetlog, I've fiddled with some of the proxy settings and immediate downloads Of course, I'm not entirely certain what half of those things have done, but nothing seems to have worked properly. I've uninstalled all of the firewall/anti-virus programs I had installed, which hasn't changed anything either.I have had the 'connected but not connected' issue before since it happens quite often, but usually I disable it, restart the computer and just connect again, then it'll work - but this time it hasn't.
I noticed to have the information given from ipconfig/all, so I've copied out what I get from that below.* I've just noticed that the host name has changed to STACYSC, when it's not supposed to be. I think this is from me attempting to connect to a wireless connection before I realised it wasn't enabled - could this be an issue[CODE]
whenever I try and access the internet from my laptop it keeps on loading...seriously like forever it never stops... I have tried a lot of things which actually worked but only for a limited amount of time. Lately I had been lucky to get my hands on some cmd commands which were abletil I restarted the laptop, I then performed the following commands every time I started the laptop: netsh winsock reset catalog, netsh int ipv(ip, ipv4 and ipv6) reset reset.log.I also tried ipconfig/flushdns which worked for like 5 seconds, they worked only for 1 week. I have 1 computer and 2 laptops, the computer can connect and browse my sisters laptop too but my one not. I was setting up both my and my sisters wifi, it took ages to get done once it worked for me once for my sister and then it stopped working for me and i got it running on my sister.[CODE]
I know about the issue of disabling default gateway... but the thing is on my Windows Vista, when i click on advanced setting for tcp/ip 4, there is no box ticks for disabling it. I don't know why.
When using my Windows XP SP2 Laptop and Desktop, it says that I HAVE excellent connection to the wireless internet but I CANNOT browse or download content. When using my Andriod phone I CANNOT connect to the wireless internet. When using my Mac laptop and Iphone I CAN connect to the wireless internet. I HAVE internet connection and I CAN browse the internet when I DIRECTLY connect the modem to the Windows laptop.
Upgraded my OS from Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Ultimate. When all was done and over, updates installed and so on I upgraded the Internet Explorer as well from IE 8 (included in the Win 7 install) to IE 9 (I used to have IE 9 before on Vista). A little bit after that I had to uninstall re-install the VPN client for my work and things started going south. Currently after I start the computer the MSN Messenger is not working, the Yahoo messenger is not working, IE, Firefox and Chrome are not working.
IE just hangs, sometimes is displaying [<endif!>] but it seems to find the sites because I can see the icon of the page changinghrome is not able to connect even to google.com but it let's me down nicely (doesn't hog resources like IE does)The Internet connection is fine because I can ping, I can connect to my work's VPN, sometimes even some https pages are briefly working.Once I connect to the VPN everything works great. Now comes the weird part after I connect to the VPN and disconnect, the browsers work, the IM works ... so something gets reset in that process and makes it fine but I have no idea what. (NOTE: IE9 is still barely moving - you request a page go get a snack and maybe it has loaded)
I am using a Dell Latitude E6400 Laptop and have been wirelessly connected to our home internet for several years without any problems. However, of late I have been having problems browsing despite my connection being OK and signal being very good. I am able to still listen to music on spotify, as well as chat on facebook, but cannot load web pages or search for anything on youtube/google etc. I use google chrome but experience the same problem on IE.
I have checked whether it is a problem with malware and have removed all threats, but still the problem persists. the only way I have found of temporarily fixing it is disabling the wireless and reconnecting, whereby it will work perfectly again for anything between 5-50 minutes.I have not changed my router recently so do not think that is the issue. I'm beginning it may just be a hardware fault with the laptop.
Trying to get this computer online but nothing is working. Windows Updates will download and install updates. The network center says it has access and is connected to the internet with zero problems. However, whenever I try to browse the internet or play a game online it will not connect.I've tried reinstalling my nic drivers. I've rebooted the router and modem numerous times.I've tried ipconfig /release and /renewI've tried netsh ip resetI've turned off the firewall and uninstalled any old antivirus software. All my settings are set to automatic. There are 2 other computers, 2 wii's 2 xboxs on this network and they all run flawlessly.
I just had new att uverse Internet installed today. My other 2 laptops, iPhone, and iPad connect and can browse the Internet. My compaq computer says it is connected to the Internet by 2WIRE but when I open Internet Explorer or Safari it cannot display the webpage. I tried troubleshooting with an att tech support rep and they said I need to contact my manufacturer to resolve the issue
I just got my lenovo t530 today and everything is working great except my browser. When I am connected to the internet wireless I can't browse. The farthest i get is the google home page. However, when I wire up everything works fine. None of the other computers in my house have this problem. I've also noticed that if i cut off the computers wireless then turn it back on I have about 30 seconds of browsing--everything works--but after that nothing loads except for the google home page. I've tried a number of suggestions I found around the internet, but none have workedAnyways, it all seems very odd considering i just pulled it out of the package.
I was connected to a wifi-spot for two weeks and it worked all fine. Since a few days ago the owner of the spot changed the password and since then I can't connect to my internet anymore. I'm 100% sure that I have the right password but still when I try to connect it shows a yellow triangle with a black "!" on top of it, saying "Limited or no internet connectivity"[CODE]
the little computer icon in the system tray has a red "x" on it and says "not connected" BUT i can connect to the internet connect to websites just fine..why does it say not connected?
I have an old Dell Latitude D620 and have Just upgrade my wireless deal with BT to Infinity with a new BTHomeHub3.0. The Dell will connect to the internet and I can see it's working because some of my programs can use the internet to function but when I try to use the internet it just stops loading at 5 bars on IE but then stops. I have tried a system restore but this has not done anything and tried a different browser but the same thing has happend.
Since i got sky broadband it's always been running super slow, the amount of times i have called them is ridiculous. So i have just been looking around on the sky address to see if i can fix it and in my Attached devices i have, the pc, an ipod touch and an unknown device. I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the slow speeds and maybe it's somehow 'stealing' my broadband. I've read a previous post of the same type but that wasnt for sky. i ran the ipconfig/all into CMD
We had a new linux server installed at a remote office yesterday, unfortunately the guy installing the server forgot to change the IP addresses, doh. It's plugged into a C877 and I can see the port is up/up and I see the mac address using 'sh mac-address-table'. The ip address on the server is unknown but it's unlikely to be in the correct subnet for the vlan it's attached to.
Is there a way I can add an arp entry manually to the router, then ssh to the server and correct the ip address? Or is there some other way to establish the IP address of the server? It's gonna be a pain to revisit the office and there's no one there that can get into the server room to do anything from the console.
Though ASA5585-X S-20 and UCS C200 are not in LMS 4.0 supported device table, I'm wondering if there is any way to monitor these devices using LMS? Our data centre has a quite number of UCS C200 servers and two ASA5585-X S-20.
I have a Dell 7720 148285 SE notebook. I use Windows 7 x64 Professional Edition. I downloaded and installed all the latest drivers from Dell Support site. Unfortunatelly I have got a problem.I see an unknown USB device in my Device Manager. (I have not connected any USB device to my computer except one mouse, but this is recognised correctly.)url... recognised that I do not see anywhere my Bluetooth adapter. So I think might be that is the problem.I installed the following drivers:[code[
Of course I restarted the computer every time I installed a driver but the 'Unknown device' still remained url...noticed that if I turned of my wireless connection with the keyboard buttons: Fn + F2, then this Unknown device have been disappear. After I re-enable the wireless connection with Fn+F2 buttons, then I get this error message, and my 'Unknown device' is already show up.How should I install the Bluetooth driver correctly? And which driver should I use for that?
I recently purchased a Linksys EA4500 Dual-Band N900 Router with Gigabit and USB. Everything set up great with no problems and after a day or 2 I managed to get all home devices connected (2 laptops, 2 printers, an iphone, 1 tv, 1 blu-ray, an old desktop, and a tablet). Everything was connected right and working and I installed the Linksys app on my iPhone which let me see what devices were connected and all that. Well, last night, an unknown device showed up as a connected device. It's labeled as: android_(insert string of characters) and has a MAC address. I've tried and tried to identify what this device is and I can't. Everything else on our network is still showing up independently of that device. I'm worried that someone using our connection and possibly putting our device security at risk. What can I do to A) try to identify what the device is and B) if it is an intruder, block it's access.
I have the WRT400N router with the latest firmware. Recently I have noticed a device in my DHCP that I do not recognize. It is not device I own (believe me, I have racked my brain and confirmed) as it shows as an Acer pc. I cannot ping the IP address however. I have rebooted my router several times thinking maybe it's a former connected device but saved in memory but it keeps coming back. I am thinking possibly it is someone hi-jacking my Internet, but not sure. I am using WEP security but it shows a LAN connection which is strange for a wireless device. The only hard wired pc is my HP.
i have a lan connection for internet, the wireless card is used for an adhoc connection to a device that does not have internet, my pc just keeps telling me i have no internet connection because it is letting the wireless connection take priority over the lan connection
It may be a coincidence but my Broadcom Network Adapter 802.11g stopped working after trying to fix 'unknown device' in Device Manager (It was working perfectly before this).OS: Windows 7 Starter on 'BenQ Joybook Lite U105'.I tried the Windows Network trouble shooter and it didn't work (saying there may be a problem with the driver. I uninstalled the driver and re-installed it (including a possibly newer one) and it didn't work. Within 'Network Connections" the Broadcom wireless adapter is shown as 'disabled' I R-clicked to enable it, a window popped up saying it was enabled but it still showed as being disabled. My feeling is that something is preventing it from being enabled, logically, I would guess. Also went to 'Component Services' and ether started or restarted everything with the word network on it still no luck..My Google search on an other pc , now on day 3, couldn't find anything. (BTW the 'unknown device' which according to the icon, seems to be the joybook itself, is still not fixed and still listed as 'unknown device').
Since my brother doesn't want me to download things from his network, I have to use some other guys network. The problem is not to connect, but it's to browse the internet. I do not know why this happens, but it does. The network is unsafe if that
I am trying to install Cisco Connect for my E1000 but I get the following error each attempt "An HNAP Call to the device failed for unknown reasons" I've already updated the router to 2.1 version of the Firmware.
