Linksys Cable / DSL :: Connection Dropping On WAG200G?
Dec 14, 2008
whenever the phone is in use i.e. a call comes in or the phone is being used to dial out, the connection will drop. I have tried changing the microfilter on the Phone Socket, and it seemed to resolve it for a while.
Should I perform a Factory Reset? I am using the latest firmware which is 1.01.06

Having the issue for over a year now, I'm wondering why there isn't a fix for the mentioned connection drops of the WAG200G? I'm on the newest firmware now (1.01.08(3)) but still every so many minutes: bam, lost connection.
My IP provider has upgraded my broadband speed in early Jan. They require ADSL2. It seems to coincide with this date that I keep loosing my internet connection on a regular basis, say every 2 days or so, but not consistent. The cure is to unplug the linksys WAG200G ADSL home gateway. Plug it in again and all is well, until the next time. On the box it says the until is ADSL2/2+ compliant.
My Linksys WAG200G worked like a charm in these 4 years, never had connection problems... the firmware was 1.00.09 One week ago i updated the firmware to last version (1.01.09) and now i have slow connection problems, sometimes it doesn't load web pages... I tried to hard reset and I tried to downgrade to different firmwares found on the web (1.01.01 and 1.01.05)What should I do? Is it possible to find the original 1.00.09 img?
I have problems with my wifi router linksys wag200g.we have 2 pc in my home, and every time the other one connects to internet i lose almost 80-90% of speed connection.can i do something to limiting the speed of the other computer?
I installed my new X2000 a couple of days ago and my ADSL connection drops several times a day. Sometimes it will stay connected for a few minutes and other times it will stay connected for several hours. The only way to get it connected again is to reboot.I have used 2 other routers (D-Link DIR-300 and BT Home Hub 3.0) on the same line and haven't had any disconnection issues with them, so the problem must be a hardware/software fault on this router or I have set it up incorrectly.Judging by a number of posts I found online, there seems to be a general problem with DSL connections dropping on the X2000, especially on earlier firmware versions. I have subsequently upgraded to the latest firmware (Ver.2.0.01 (Build 4)), reset and reconfigured twice, but nothing has worked so far.Unless I can get this working in the next few days I am going to have to return it, which is a shame because the performance of the router is great when it's working!Would someone be able check I have configured the DSL settings on the router correctly?
I've been using the WAG54G2 for some time now, recently I set up a range extender and had some issues so one thing I tried was to upgrade the firmware. It was very unclear on this website where to find it (specifically for the G2). I went here but there were 2 files, Annex A or B? [irl].... The instructions are also very unclear on this. But more frustratingly the zip file just contains an ".img" file - no ".bin" as the instructions say. So i tried the manual firmware upgrade using this file and shortly after the message "...whatever you do - do not close the browser or restart the router during the upgrade..." (or similar) the router crashed, so I had to restart it and the browser. Now I think I may have introduced an error as the once perfectly-performing router occasionally drops the internet connection for a few minutes. With my work I need 100% uptime.
Recently, i bought a LinkSys WAG120N ANNEX-A to replace my old speedstrem4200. Well everything was fine, but after 2 days of it installed, it started to drop my ADSL connection.
Sometimes, it remain connected for 4-5 hours, then drop, or sometimes, it drop every 30min-1hour.I tried upgrading the firmware to 1.00.16, but no luck, it still drop the connection.I have 3 computer plugged to the router via cable(wired) plus 1 netbook(wireless) and 1 ipod (wireless).Sometimes, when 1 computer is turned off, it seem to make the ADSL connection drop when the LAN light turn off. I noticed everytime it drop the ADSL connection, in the logs, i get this:
I tried changing the MTU settings in the router to 1492 (my ISP default) but didnt work.
Tried changing the MTU to 1492 on every computer and still got the same problem. For now im using the WAG120N in bridge mode, and still using my old speedstream4200 as ADSL modem.
I tried to set my WAG200G as a wireless bridge, but I encountered some problems doing so.
First I reseted the router to factory default settings, then I put it in "bridge mode only" disabled DHCP and UPnP (this was required for the college network I want to use on it to work). Then I put the UTP cable in one of the LAN ports.
When I try to acces this network though a wire everything works fine, I can see the other devices connected to the network and I can acces the internet. When I try to use the network wirelessly, I still see the other devices on the network but I can't connect to the internet. (The acces to the internet is gained by logging in inside the browser, like with wifi hotspots)
I have been using Linksys WAG200g as a modem&router at my home for few years already and it did a great job. Plugged it on 24hours non-stop. Default firmware.
However, in the past months WAG200g did the factory reset by itself. It happened once a month, 3 months in a row already. No body pressed the reset button nor use the web admin to reset it. It reset itself. All the SSID, IP Address, passwords, etc are reset to default.
My internet provider servers internet, telephone an digital cable TV to my flat. For using this, they sent me an AVM Fritz Box.It really works well..... except file transfers over LANWhen I try to copy more or less large files (above 4 GB) the Fritz Box fails, freezes or just drops all network connections...However: I hate this thing.
For my old provider, I brought my Linksys WAG200g and it really worked fine - due to this I'd like to install it the following way:
Well, I am just curious, how much hard disk does a WAG200G has? And how much memory and what processor? Is it hard to point me to a datasheet including every chip or/and component it has?
I want to connect my wag 200g to another router. My other router have ip address 192.168.2.1 and is connected to my isp and my wag 200g is 192.168.1.254. What i want is to connect my wag 200g to the other router and to share the internet connection. I want also the dhcp server on the wag 200g to assign ip address to the wireless users connected on the wag 200g with ip addresses to the network 192.168.1.0.
I got myself a HW500G as my main Wireless router. But as I moved to a new home with a very large space, I did start to have alot of dead spots which made me think about getting my old WAG200G out of the box and use it as Wireless extender. Is that possible with WAG200G and If yes, can you provide me with guidelines on how to do so.
I have connected CeeLab C300 video confernce system to our lan connectet to linksys wag200g. I have forwarded all the ports listed in manual to work without public ip. The problem is that system connect with our branch in other city, sound is great but i have no video on our tv. The other side has an audio and video but using public ip. Is a wag200g compliant to work with videoconferencing system? Support of the Ceelab ask me that Linksys is capable to NAT the H323 codec for audio & video/
As soon as I set it up it would keep restarting every 3-5 minutes. It would sync with the ADSL line, wireless ok and then boom restart again.I've tried every singe setting, googled the problem, updated the firmware to the latest and still no luck. Then I had it replaced today with a new one and I faced exactly the same problem so I am thinking that eitherI am completely useless (which I would like to think I am not) or I got stuck with a batch of faulty X3000.Currently I am on linksys WAG200G that has been working non-stop for ages and the only reason I upgraded is that I wanted faster streaming.
I have a Linksys WAG200G wireless ADSL router. So it has one ADSL(phone) line input port , 4 Ethernet ports and wireless router. My router is fine and works well on ADSL connections. But as I have switched to Comcast DOCSIS modem based internet connection now, I want to to setup this router as "Home Gateway" only and not the modem. My intention is to use- use 1 of the 4 ethernet ports at the back of router as an INPUT . I want to put the ethernet output of the DOCSIS modem into this INPUT- and then i want to use the remaining 3 Ethernet ports as OUTPUT ports from the router.- I also want to work my router as Wireless router.
My query is- Is this possible ? Basically use 1 port as an input and 3 as output.- I have tried different things - Using Bridge mode only. DHCP disabled but sometimes only wireless works and other times only LAN bridge setup works but both do not work together.- Also at times, one Ethernet port will work as an INPUT and 1 as an OUTPUT but other two remain disabled.
I have an ADSL Modem WAG200G Annex A, with latest firmware. I recently purchased a Linksys E2000 to upgrade my wireless to N, plus to get 4 gigabit Ethernet Ports for my NAS.
The problem is, I set WAG200G to "Bridge mode only", and from within E2000, I provided PPPoE credentials (user name and password), it does not work, no Internet connection!
Normally, with the WAG200G, PPPoE credential is set as followings (and it works)
Type: PPPoE Multiplexing: LLC Virtual Circuit: "0" for VPI (0~255) and "33" for VCI (0~65535) "Keep Alive" option
on E2000 Router, PPPoE does not have the above option for me to select. Only User Name and Password field
I have a wireless router Linksys WAG200G.Im having trouble since a few days for use Windows Live Messenger 2009. I tried some tips for correct (cleaned cache, uninstall and re-install the software, checked the firewall, programs related to the software, etc).I was thinking that this was a trouble with my computer, but was made tests with other 3 computers, that cannot connect too (and can connect in others wi-fi connections, in other places) and in the attempts are being generated the same error: 8100030d.Searching in the internet, i saw that the problem could be with the router.
I didnt made any changes in the router configuration, and are using this equipment since last 2 years without any problem. I didnt tried to reset the configuration yet. But tried to disable the router firewall, and the problem occurred again.I tried some tips in this forum, like changing the MTU and including ports of messenger in the router configuration, but it didnt work.
I have been using a Linksys Wireless-G ADSL WAG200G, Annex-A Gateway Router and it has been fine, now my ISP have told me that they are modernising the network and will need a router capable of managing ADSL2/ VDSL connections, so will my router be able to do that or will I have to buy a new one? It has firmware 1.01.09?Edit: I see in the DSL Modulation menu which is set at present to "Multimode" I also have options to select ADSL2, ADSL2+, ADSL2 AnnexM, ADSL2+ AnnexM and ASDL2 AnnexL but I do not see any mention of "VDSL"
is it possible to upload a htm file to the router using a command prompt? the page is located at [URL] I want to change the option of Allow All to Restrict Access at 8pm every night?
I'm having trouble connecting via ethernet to my WAG200G. Everything was working fine a week ago but now, nothing. The problem is only occurring with one computer and I've tried the troubleshooting guide on the website to no avail. When I connect the ethernet cable from my computer to the modem/router, I don't get a light on the front panel on any of the ports. I've changed cables, ports, disabled ZoneAlarm and firewalls and nothing comes up. I've checked the ethernet connection from the computer to another computer and it's working fine.
On a different computer, I have no trouble connecting to the ports and can confirm that 1-4 are working and the lights come up.
I'm trying to set up access restrictions to specify the full url on my WAG200G (firmware 1.00.07). In particular to block a few specific https:// sites without blocking all https://. It it easy with http:// If I try https://blah.com it throws back an error invalid url.
I'm trying to configure my WAG200G to work in bridge mode so that it can transfer my external IP address to my ISA server. My network map is very simple,Internet -- WAG200G -- ISA Server -- LANCan
I have a WAG200G as my ADSL modem and wireless access point. I would like to build two small wired networks that are remote from the location of the wireless access point (i.e. where my telephone line comes in) so that I can connect several network cabled devices in each location (e.g. NAS drive, TV, games consoles etc). I cannot run network cables to these locaations but believe that I can bridge them via the wireless. At a pinch, I could have only one cabled sub-network but would prefer two.
