I have two buildings. In first building I have network with internet. In other building network without internet. I need to connect buildings to the same network using two WAG320N modems by the phone line cable. Is it possible and what configuration I need to set up?

Filters are used in the spare phone jacks.My main question is: when modem A is being used and modem B is switched off, is it necessary for the splitter for modem B to be removed and the filter put in its place? Or is the fact that modem B is switched off sufficient? I suspect that it's necessary and that's why my friend gets very slow download speeds even when the other modem is off.She insists that it used to work but I think she was just lucky if it used to work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have Comcast broadband with one modem connected to my PC. I just bought a Denon AVR-991 Receiver that has internet capability. I I plan to use it for internet radio, etc.The problem is that each piece of equipment is in different areas of the house. I could connect the cable modem to the receiver and connect the PC to the internet via a wireless router, but I don't want to lose the speed of a direct connection on the PC.. can I have two different modems connected to the same incoming cable line? FYI, the existing modem is a Linksys BEFCMU10, and the second modem is one Comcast is in the process of sending to me as I just added Voip phone service to my account.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just bought an ea6500 to replace my old Billion router and up to now all I've had to do is plug my phone line directly into the "phone line in" port on the back of the billion router. But I see there is no "phone line in" port on the ea6500, I don't use a modem and have used the billion router by itself for the past 6 years, is there a way to connect my phone line directly to the ea6500 somehow? My research so far indicates you can't do it via an 'Ethernet / phone line adaptor' as they are incompatable anyway.
The install guide seems to expect a Modem is being used but in my case it hasn't been and I would think a router should perform the basic functions of a modem anyway ?
My concern is that if I really need to purchase a modem then won't this potentially 'throttle' the capabilities of the ea6500 which is the reason I've bought it in the first place ?
If I do need to purchase a modem to get my ea6500 working then what specs should I be looking for ??
How to configure settings for router E4200I live in Finland and bought new Cisco Linksys WAG320n router modem as I am experienced Cisco user. However after spending several hours and setups on the WAG320n router I cannot get it to connect on the ISP ADSL line.

But once I setup these or acutally any other setting I cannot get the router to connect. With the right settings I can get the DSL PVC status up and connected but the ModemRouter cannot connect and retrieve IP-address from ISP.
I have 2 PCs, an Acer H340 and a network printer wired to the WAG320N; two other PCs are connected wireless. On every PC I have Windows 7 and Ubuntu (except the NAS with WHS).When I boot with Ubuntu on every PC, I can print, I can connect to intenet, open the Web interface of the WAG320N at 192.168.1.1 but I CAN'T see the NAS and the other PCs: this with the wired PCs and the WiFi connected ones. A Galaxy Tab can browse the NAS content and the Web.I didn't had this problem with the modem router I had from the ADSL supplier and the Huawei D100 I used before.On the network map of the Cisco Network Magic the Linux PCs are showed connected to the WAG320N with a dotted line, when the W7 ones are connected with a solid line.

The Wireless Was previously working fine though recently, has stopped working, all the other devices on the wireless network work fine (Asus Laptop, Iphone's etc). The hp laptop has no problem in connecting to the neighbours wireless and picking up a signal, however, when i go to search for the WAG320N im unable to find it in the list, sometimes it does appear, but after double clicking has trouble connecting to the wireless and will then dissapear from the list. I have tried manually entering the SSID and Password and seeing if it would connect, and also manually entering the IP address however no luck, no other device on the network has trouble finding the broadcast Signal Apart from the HP DV6-3139TX

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is a bit of a pain as the behaiviour is not consistent. whenever I connect to the Device webpage a number of things may happen
1. There is no connection - the page tries to load but never does. While this happens the router drops the ADSL connection and re-connects. I have to close the browser session and try again later. OR
2. The Browser session connects but at some point after the connection, say when I am trying to save changes or even just browsing through the config pages the session hangs, and again the router drops the ADSL connection and re-connects. I have to close the session and try again later.
I have noticed this happens when I use my OpenSuse 11.4 Linux Box using Firefox 5 or even using my Win 7 Box using IE9.
I Just switched from DSL to Charter Communications Cable internet. For some reason my computer wont see the internet. I plug the same cord into my brothers computer and the internet works just fine. I plug the same cord back into the DSL and i have internet. I have done troubleshooting and it finds this problem (Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (DNS server) is not responding. I switched to a different cable modem same exact situation. Works on my brothers but not mine. My computer is a much newer and more capable computer then his. When we activated the internet we did it on his computer, but before we switched to charter i plugged the modem in without internet and it seemed to have the same problem. I just got more results on his as it immediately directed my to the charter page at that time. On mine i got nothing. ( Also i believe my brother said that it did work on my computer for a few minutes at first but i'm not 100% on that.)

My girl friends work pays for it as she needs to get on to the office servers, this is secure thought a modem box and also a firewall box. This is restricted our personal internet access to only certain sites on her work laptop. I myself work for myself and need to access the internet via my laptop (mac), I'm a web designer so rely on the internet.If I was to buy an addition wireless modem could I unplug the work configured set-up at the wall, plug in the new one and set it up? Wireless is turned on, but is not currently being used in this room, as the wired connections work fine. From this outside room there is an underground cable (12 metres) to the house, which through a CAT lead is plugged into another WAG 320N, which operates primarily wirelessly, so laptop computers can be used in the house wirelessly. When the outside room modem is turned on AND the house modem is turned on, only one modem OR the other can access the internet, NOT BOTH. Why can't both modems operate wired and wirelessly. What is the problem? Is there a conflict between the two wireless signals? Can/ should I turn off the wireless signal from the outside modem (if so HOW?) . OR is there a way I can have both modems transmitting a wireless signal.

And before you ask, I've brought the DSL router as I'm moving in the next 12 months and my new base will not have access to cable internet and I'll be reverting back to DSL.
The last couple of weeks the phone line has been dropping until I unplug for about 30 seconds to reset. It is happening more frequently. The phone service through TMobile gets a dial tone and rings several times then drops when making a call.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an intermittent issue with a new WAG320N.Device is new (installed for 1 month now) and is running the latest firmware "out of the box".
Device was confirmed as working (recommended) via the ISP, as it uses a Broadcom chipset, so it works "more reliably" with the ISP's hardware which uses the same chipset.
Setup was painless and the router synced up fine and has been operating for a few weeks. However, twice in the past week the router has become unresponsive to ping over the LAN. Furthermore, the device's lights indicate everything is OK, however I have to reset the router (power cycle) and then it returns to normal.
WIFI is OFF. LAN IP is set manually, DHCP is OFF. The router is plugged into it's own UPS.
I'm trying to play some online games and my WAG320N does not forward ports, upnp does not function and to top it off DMZ wont even work (not a software firewall issue either). I have the latest firmware (and honestly the stock firmware is terrible).
Am I out of luck or is there something I can do to fix this? I sure as hell will be steering clear of linksys products after this.

Power cycling it SOMETIMES does the trick but it will still get slow. It has been slow just now and over here it is midnight so the internet peak should be down and my internet should be faster but its now.

I have only purchased this modem a few days ago (upgraded from a working Netgear DGN2000 for Gigabit).... it's solid most the time except for once a day when it needs to be reset.
One morning I accessed a single website, only to find the next wouldn't come up. (approx 7:30am) Lastnight the net was working fine at 11:30pm.... Thismorning I woke up, checked my download manager to find that at 2:30am all queued downloads failed, so the ADSL dropped sometime inbetween then.
The LAN and Wifi still work fine, when I go into the settings and click "reconnect" nothing happens. I need to turn the modem off for a min before it works ok. There is no newer firmware as of yet to try.
I do not have a "storage" tab in my setup screen. I have Setup, Security, Wireless, etc. According to its manual there must be a Storage tab between security and wireless. Mine doesn't have it. USB drive is connected and I see "mywag320n" on the network but I can't access it because it requires login and password (which I guess I must set up from Storage tab )
