View 1 RepliesI have my broadband line feeding into a WAG 320N in an outside room. There are computers in the outside room which are wired to the modem via CAT leads & plugs. Wireless is turned on, but is not currently being used in this room, as the wired connections work fine. From this outside room there is an underground cable (12 metres) to the house, which through a CAT lead is plugged into another WAG 320N, which operates primarily wirelessly, so laptop computers can be used in the house wirelessly. When the outside room modem is turned on AND the house modem is turned on, only one modem OR the other can access the internet, NOT BOTH. Why can't both modems operate wired and wirelessly. What is the problem? Is there a conflict between the two wireless signals? Can/ should I turn off the wireless signal from the outside modem (if so HOW?) . OR is there a way I can have both modems transmitting a wireless signal.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI Just switched from DSL to Charter Communications Cable internet. For some reason my computer wont see the internet. I plug the same cord into my brothers computer and the internet works just fine. I plug the same cord back into the DSL and i have internet. I have done troubleshooting and it finds this problem (Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (DNS server) is not responding. I switched to a different cable modem same exact situation. Works on my brothers but not mine. My computer is a much newer and more capable computer then his. When we activated the internet we did it on his computer, but before we switched to charter i plugged the modem in without internet and it seemed to have the same problem. I just got more results on his as it immediately directed my to the charter page at that time. On mine i got nothing. ( Also i believe my brother said that it did work on my computer for a few minutes at first but i'm not 100% on that.)
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have Comcast broadband with one modem connected to my PC. I just bought a Denon AVR-991 Receiver that has internet capability. I I plan to use it for internet radio, etc.The problem is that each piece of equipment is in different areas of the house. I could connect the cable modem to the receiver and connect the PC to the internet via a wireless router, but I don't want to lose the speed of a direct connection on the PC.. can I have two different modems connected to the same incoming cable line? FYI, the existing modem is a Linksys BEFCMU10, and the second modem is one Comcast is in the process of sending to me as I just added Voip phone service to my account.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm on a Mac running OSX. Qwest (my ISP) recently swapped my DSL modem for an Actiontec Q1000 combo modem/router. The Q1000 firewall is not nearly as configurable as my Linksys BEFSR41 (v3) router. I'd like to use the Q1000 just as a modem and use my Linksys as my router so I can access it's superior firewall configuration.
How do I physically hook the hardware up?
How do I configure the 2 items. The Q1000 uses 192.168.0.1 as it's web address. The Linksys uses 192.168.1.1. I have 2 Macs on my network, an iMac (OS 10.5.8) and a G4 (10.3.9).
Besides web browsing & email, I also have a torrent client I use (Azureus).
I have two modem USB (two ISP) and successfully created two Internet connections. However, it's useless since Windows will only use one of those connections as its default gateway. The other is essentially ignored,I have software Multi-WAN for split IP, first modem connection can't use but it ok for last modem connection to internet.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently moved into a new place and suscribed to and ISP which they gave me a modem. I have been planning on buying a a cable spliter and router but in the meantime, I have been switching the cable from the cable box to the modem when I need internet. Well, a friend moved in and he brought HIS modem from same ISP and a wireless router and set it up upstairs. Now there is a modem upstairs and a modem downstairs and a wireless router upstairs. My kids are complaining that they cant connect wirelessly when the internet is being used upstairs. My goal is to be able to have two xbox 360's online- one upstairs and one downstairs, one netbook and two Jurrasic PC's which probalby are not wireless, My roomate prefers to hardwire his xbox to a router as he says its faster that way. Is the problem my kids are having downstairs just that the wireless router is too weak? Is it ok to have to modems connected (the one upstairs to the xbox? and the one downstairs?)

I don't need any ultra high-end thing just a reliable modem/router for surfing the Internet and some light gaming (mainly COD4).
View 8 Replies View RelatedIn a house that is too large for a small wireless modem to send a signal far enough, is it possible to use a second modem in the same phone line (not at the same time). Filters are used in the spare phone jacks. My main question is: when modem A is being used and modem B is switched off, is it necessary for the splitter for modem B to be removed and the filter put in its place? Or is the fact that modem B is switched off sufficient? I suspect that it's necessary and that's why my friend gets very slow download speeds even when the other modem is off.She insists that it used to work but I think she was just lucky if it used to work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have two usb modem A and modem B. modem A could download at max of 300kbps while B could download at max of 700kbps. Since I am a frequent internet user, Im planning to use this two modem simultaneously so that I could have a max speed of 500+300=800+kbps. But I dont know if this would work. The problem with usb modem is that, when you connect the modem A in the internet while modem B is currently running, Modem B is being disregarded right? I was thinking of, say while im browsing and downloading, modem A would be use for browsing and modem B is for downloading. Or them may either share each connection for better performance.

My girl friends work pays for it as she needs to get on to the office servers, this is secure thought a modem box and also a firewall box. This is restricted our personal internet access to only certain sites on her work laptop. I myself work for myself and need to access the internet via my laptop (mac), I'm a web designer so rely on the internet. If I was to buy an addition wireless modem could I unplug the work configured set-up at the wall, plug in the new one and set it up? I don't need to run the two modems at the same time, so could just swap the plugs as and when required.

Whilst the MR3420 V2 is sold as a 4G usb router, it appears that it does not support many usb 4G devices. In Australia we currently have the Seirra 320u, ZTE MF821 (100Mbps Cat 3) and Huawei E3276 (150Mbps Cat 4)whilst the V2 supports the first two (not the E3276), it has one major failure! It does not work at full 4G speeds.
The V2 does not appear to allow download speeds in excess of 25Mbps or uploads much greater than 2Mbps. This occurs on fast 3G and 4G networks. The throttled speed is apparently due to slow modem protocols deployed in the router. High protocol overheads mean it cannot 'shuffle data' very fast.We have developed working solutions using the Openwork platform that overcome these issues and provides speeds in excess of 70mbps.
I've tried to download the .docx document to both Win and Mac computers. On both platforms MS Word complains that the document is corrupt.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOur family has about three computers that use a wireless network that we all share. We have an old Gateway, a WCG200, that is bridged to an E2000, which was set-up ever since we required better security when someone used our connection to illegally obtain movies. We got a letter which warned us of any future violations that could cause legal action, so we looked into our wireless connection to better secure it from any other individuals outside of our household. The WCG200 is connected to the outlet in the wall via cable, and then connects from the Ethernet to the E2000. The E2000 has a stronger security setup than the WCG200, which is the advice we received from our ISP and would allow us to keep the Gateway. It provides a strong signal, but from time to time, we suffer latency or slow loading through all of our online devices, even though our connection speed displays a solid 72.0 Mbps. I've tried the Event Viewer to see any problems, and I have noticed some small things:
- WLAN AutoConfig service has successfully stopped.Wirel?
- WLAN Extensibility Module has stopped. Module Path: C:WindowsSystem32cmihvsrv64.dll
- The server {E10F6C3A-F1AE-4ADC-AA9D-2FE65525666E} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.
- Broadcom NetLink (TM) Gigabit Ethernet: The network link is down. Check to make sure the network cable is properly connected. [This last one is strange, since I use the Wireless Network Connection with a DW1501 Wireless-N WLAN Half-Mini Card, while the Broadcom adapter is under the Local Area Connection and displayed as not connected.]
Other than that, I'm not quite sure what the recurring problem comes from. Our WCG200 has a firewall enabled and our E2000 has an SPI firewall enabled. The security mode of the E2000 is a WPA2 setup. We have disabled the wireless network of our WCG200 in order to make use of the E2000.
I have a WAG160N wireless gateway . Yesterday when i tried to power it on after a couple of seconds the power led was solid green and the Ethernet leds were blinking with no Ethernet cable attached to the router . The ethernet leds would keep blinking for minutes . I tried to use a screwdriver to do a hardware reset ( with power on ) and i noticed that the power led would start blinking green/red for minutes . I tried to use another wired router which i have for backup and it could connect to the internet normally without a problem.
What the green / red blinking power led means ( power led is green and then changes to red and then it starts over ) ?
I inherited a BEFCMU10 v.3 cable modem from my boss who switched to FiOS and I would like to use this with my Comcast connection. All I received from him is the cable modem and power adapter, what do I need to install and get this cable modem working? My router is WRT-54G.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI can't get a new IP from my ISP when my Cable modem router(EPC3925) is set to router mode, i have tried factory restore, unplugged etc..but still no luck. It changes each time i reset it when i set it to bridged only mode but then i won't be able to connect other devices to it since it doesn't uses DHCP in bridged only mode. It changes back to the IP i had when i set it to router mode. I don't want to change my router settings to bridged only because it would disconnect the other devices in my house. Why my ISP assigns the same IP address when it's set to router mode but assigns different IPs when it's set to bridged only, how is this possible ?
