Linksys Cable / DSL :: WCG200 Bridge Mode From Wireless-G Cable Gateway To Wired?

Mar 14, 2013

Our family has about three computers that use a wireless network that we all share. We have an old Gateway, a WCG200, that is bridged to an E2000, which was set-up ever since we required better security when someone used our connection to illegally obtain movies. We got a letter which warned us of any future violations that could cause legal action, so we looked into our wireless connection to better secure it from any other individuals outside of our household. The WCG200 is connected to the outlet in the wall via cable, and then connects from the Ethernet to the E2000. The E2000 has a stronger security setup than the WCG200, which is the advice we received from our ISP and would allow us to keep the Gateway. It provides a strong signal, but from time to time, we suffer latency or slow loading through all of our online devices, even though our connection speed displays a solid 72.0 Mbps. I've tried the Event Viewer to see any problems, and I have noticed some small things:

- WLAN AutoConfig service has successfully stopped.Wirel?

- WLAN Extensibility Module has stopped. Module Path: C:WindowsSystem32cmihvsrv64.dll

- The server {E10F6C3A-F1AE-4ADC-AA9D-2FE65525666E} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.

- Broadcom NetLink (TM) Gigabit Ethernet: The network link is down.  Check to make sure the network cable is properly connected. [This last one is strange, since I use the Wireless Network Connection with a DW1501 Wireless-N WLAN Half-Mini Card, while the Broadcom adapter is under the Local Area Connection and displayed as not connected.]

Other than that, I'm not quite sure what the recurring problem comes from. Our WCG200 has a firewall enabled and our E2000 has an SPI firewall enabled. The security mode of the E2000 is a WPA2 setup. We have disabled the wireless network of our WCG200 in order to make use of the E2000.

Linksys Cable / DSL :: WCG200 Wireless Is Not Working?

Jul 1, 2009

I have the WCG200 and it has been working fine with my Comcast service for the last 4 years with no issues, either wired or wireless.  Starting about a week ago, I have been having a lot of trouble with my wireless.   I am on Firmware Version: and my ISP is Comcast.  I have tried calling Comcast to see if there is a firmware update but that phone call usually doesn't go very far.

Linksys Cable / DSL :: WAG200G As Bridge Mode Does Not Work?

Aug 20, 2011

I have an ADSL Modem WAG200G Annex A, with latest firmware. I recently purchased a Linksys E2000 to upgrade my wireless to N, plus to get 4 gigabit Ethernet Ports for my NAS.
The problem is, I set WAG200G to "Bridge mode only", and from within E2000, I provided PPPoE credentials (user name and password), it does not work, no Internet connection!
Normally, with the WAG200G, PPPoE credential is set as followings (and it works)
Type: PPPoE Multiplexing: LLC Virtual Circuit: "0"  for VPI (0~255) and "33" for VCI  (0~65535) "Keep Alive" option
on E2000 Router, PPPoE does not have the above option for me to select. Only User Name and Password field

Linksys Cable / DSL :: Connect E1500 In Bridge Mode To X3000?

Apr 5, 2012

different ways to connect a printer to the X3000. how to connect a printer to the X3000, i.e. wirelessly, USB port, or directly via one of the LAN ports. I also checked the product information for X3000 on the CISCO website and it only makes reference of the USB port as StorageLink.
.  Since then I have reconsidered and now am looking to purchase the E4200V2 to connect in bridge mode to my X3000 instead of the E1500.  Correct me if I am wrong but connecting the E4200V2 to my X3000 should be the same connecting the E1500 to my X3000, i.e. bridge mode? Yes or No?And my final set of questions is rregarding what would be the best set-up for adding a storage device and printer to my network once I get the E4200V2 and set it up in bridge mode?

-  Should I connect both the printer and storage device to my the E4200V2?

-  Should I connect them both to my X3000, which provides my internet connection?

-  Should I connect one to the X3000 and one to the E4200, if so which to which for best set-up?

Linksys Cable / DSL :: WCG200 Eventually Loose Connection

Jan 18, 2012

I'm having a problem with my WCG200 wireless gateway.  I can sucessfully use it to connect to the internet using the wireless feature but only for a short time (10-30min at a time). Eventually, I loose the connection.  I'm not sure if it's a modem issue or an ISP issue but only one of my two laptops has this trouble.
Symptom: Connecting with a Dell Lattitude E5520 laptop It works normally until the "US" and "Online" LEDs turn off and only the DS light is left blinking. At that time I no longer have a connection to the internet.  Once I cycle power on the WCG200 it re-connects and works for a while, then the same issue repeats. I cleared the modem log and let the failure occur again to record the fresh log.
I attached the Modem Log in case that would troubleshoot. I've got the security of the modem set to allow the laptops MAC addresses and using WPA-personal / TKIP encryption. I never had this problem until I started using a new laptop,  I'm starting to suspect that my ISP is disconnecting that laptop for some reason ?

Linksys Cable / DSL :: No Drivers Were Listed As Needed For Wcg200

Jun 19, 2012

I just replaced a hard drive on my computer, installed win7, hooked up the linksys according to the guide but it is not recognizing anything attached.  My devices indicates an unknown ethernet controller.  I have installed no drivers for anything, no drivers were listed as needed for wcg200.
The same linksys is hooked up to a second computer (which I am posting from) so I am assuming it works fine.  Also I had the thing set up on the last harddrive with win7, the only difference was the harddrive was loaded up with the OS by the computer shop.  I have never done this before and wanted to try it out. I swapped ethernet cables to make sure nothing changed with the cables, but no luck.

Linksys Cable / DSL :: Can't Get A New IP From ISP When Cable Modem EPC3925 Is Set To Router Mode

Mar 23, 2012

I can't get a new IP from my ISP when my Cable modem router(EPC3925) is set to router mode, i have tried factory restore, unplugged etc..but still no luck. It changes each time i reset it when i set it to bridged only mode but then i won't be able to connect other devices to it since it doesn't uses DHCP in bridged only mode. It changes back to the IP i had when i set it to router mode. I don't want to change my router settings to bridged only because it would disconnect the other devices in my house. Why my ISP assigns the same IP address when it's set to router mode but assigns different IPs when it's set to bridged only, how is this possible ?

Linksys Wireless Router :: How To Configure E2500 In Wired Bridge Mode

Jan 25, 2012

My client has a DSL modem and a Belkin wired 4-port router configured to connect to it using PPPoE.  Apparently there is no way to configure the E2500 such that it may be dropped in as a direct replacement for the Belkin (which would also provide wireless access) without the PPPoE login/password (from the DSL provider, Verizon).
I would like to connect the "Internet" port of the E2500 to one of the Belkin's 4 ports, in order to use the E2500 for wireless internet access without using any of the 4 wired ports but I think this creates a NAT within an existing NAT network?
To avoid that if I configure the E2500 in wired bridge mode, it becomes transparent, and I can no longer access its administration interface using the address (since that address belongs to the Belkin).  How may I, for example, change the wireless password which the E2500 is in wired bridge mode?

Linksys Cable / DSL :: Set WAG200G As A Wireless Bridge?

I tried to set my WAG200G as a wireless bridge, but I encountered some problems doing so.
First I reseted the router to factory default settings, then I put it in "bridge mode only" disabled DHCP and UPnP (this was required for the college network I want to use on it to work). Then I put the UTP cable in one of the LAN ports.
When I try to acces this network though a wire everything works fine, I can see the other devices connected to the network and I can acces the internet. When I try to use the network wirelessly, I still see the other devices on the network but I can't connect to the internet. (The acces to the internet is gained by logging in inside the browser, like with wifi hotspots)

Linksys Cable / DSL :: Wireless Bridge To WAG320N?

Mar 21, 2013

I have a small home network using a Linksys WAG320N which acts as the modem (to connect to BT using PPPoA for ADSL) and provides 4 wired 100Mbs network connections along with a wireless N connections. I use WPA2 (personal) to secure the network and have a white list for allowed wireless devices. Everything works fine.In another part of the house (where I can get a good wireless signal) we have the main TV in the house. Here I have a SKY HD box and a small media player. What I would like to do is connect these two devices to the network and running a network cable is not practical, so I thought I would setup a wireless bridge.I tried a TP-Link bridge borrowed from a friend by this failed to work. I now know this to be because the WAG320N does not support WDS.Will a Linksys WES610N connect to my WAG320N to provide me with what I want?

Linksys Cable / DSL :: WAG 320N Why Can't Both Modems Operate Wired And Wireless

Nov 6, 2012

I have my broadband line feeding into a WAG 320N in an outside room.   There are computers in the outside room which are wired to the modem via CAT leads & plugs.   Wireless is turned on, but is not currently being used in this room, as the wired connections work fine.   From this outside room there is an underground cable (12 metres) to the house, which through a CAT lead is plugged into another WAG 320N,  which operates primarily wirelessly,  so laptop computers can be used in the house wirelessly.  When the outside room modem is turned on AND the house modem is turned on, only one modem OR the other can access the internet, NOT BOTH.   Why can't both modems operate wired and wirelessly.   What is the problem?   Is there a conflict between the two wireless signals?   Can/ should I turn off the wireless signal from the outside modem (if so HOW?) . OR is there a way I can have both modems transmitting a wireless signal.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Internet Cable Goes To Wired RV082

Apr 19, 2012

I have a Linksys RV082 Wired router. It works great but doesn't do wireless.  I have a Cisco/Linksys E2500 Wireless router for my wireless devices to use.  the RV082 is on the 192.168.1.x network. The E2500 is on the network 192.168.0.x network.  The Internet cable goes to the Wired RV082, and a line comes out of there to the wireless router.  This all works fine except for a couple inconveniences.I have an iPad that connects wirelessly and some of the apps offer an http:// option so I can transfer files to that app.  I also have a network printer hooked in wired, but wireless devices can't see it.I have 2 problems:

1) In order to transfer files from my laptop (which I have hooked in to the wired network most of the time), I have too disconnect the wire, connect wirelessly, then I can transfer the files.  Works, but it's inconvenient.

2) I would like a netbook that I have on the wireless connection to be able to print to my wired network printer.
It appears that the 2 networks are not seeing each other.  Here are the things that I have tried:

1) I disabled the DHCP on the wireless router.  My thought is that requests for an IP address sent to the wireless router would be forwarded along to my wired router... NOT.  On my iPad and Wii, they could no longer connect wirelessly. Strangely enough, with the wire disconnected and connecting wirelessly with my laptop, I was still getting a 192.168.0.x IP address, even though DHCP was disabled on the wireless router.
2) Thinking that I would just manually put the wireless router on the 192.168.1.x network, instead of telling it to get an IP dynamicaly from the Internet connection, I manually set it's IP to  Bad mistake.  I could not connect to it at all from anywhere then.  The only way I could fix that was to hook it wired to my notebook, assign a static IP to my notebook on the same network as the router, then I could got to the setup page and set things back the way it was.
Another thing... Even when I'm only connected wired on my notebook and wireless is disabled, I can ping (the wireless gateway) and it returns a value. But, when I try to go there in a browser, I get a "page not found" error.

Linksys Cable / DSL :: WAG200G - Home Gateway Setup

Jun 25, 2012

I have a Linksys WAG200G wireless ADSL router. So it has one ADSL(phone) line input port , 4 Ethernet ports and wireless router. My router is fine and works well on ADSL connections. But as I have switched to Comcast DOCSIS modem based internet connection now, I want to to setup this router as "Home Gateway" only and not the modem. My intention is to use- use 1 of the 4 ethernet ports at the back of router as an INPUT . I want to put the ethernet output of the DOCSIS modem into this INPUT- and then i want to use the remaining 3 Ethernet ports as OUTPUT ports from the router.- I also want to work my router as Wireless router.

My query is- Is this possible ? Basically use 1 port as an input and 3 as output.- I have tried different things - Using Bridge mode only. DHCP disabled but sometimes only wireless works and other times only LAN bridge setup works but both do not work together.- Also at times, one Ethernet port will work as an INPUT and 1 as an OUTPUT but other two remain disabled.
