The switch is upstairs, the router is downstairs. The wifi from the router does not reach upstairs, so I have bought another WRT160Nv3.How do i add this to my setup? I've tried hooking the new router direct to a PC and configuring it so that it is NOT a DHCP server and changed the IP from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.2 then connecting a LAN port from the switch to a LAN port on the new router and disconnecting the wired pc from the new router.
In the above setup NOTHING after the switch works. I cannot get internet while the switch is connected to the second router on any computer attatched to the switch. The wifi will not get internet either (from second router)
We have a home use WRT160N router linked to a PC desktop and two wireless laptops, Yesterday bought a new I-Phone, but could not link to my network (entered the security key many times). I accidentally connected to computer fix it firm that linked to my PC and wanted a large sum to fix the problem which he said was due to large number of temp?? internet files and once removed he would change the IP address of the desktop computer? Is this diagnosis logical and can I do it on my own. The router is definetely working - both laptops access the internet and I was recently able to hook up a Samsung Blu-Ray player using the same security code I used for the I-Phone.
Often my router drops connection to all my devices. Multiple times a day. It's only for a minute or so, but it's annoying. I'm using a Linksys Wireless-N router (WRT160N) with WEP encryption. I'm running two Windows 7 laptops, LG BluRay player, Apple TV, Xbox 360 (Wired) iPhone 4, and a iPad 2. It doesn't matter if I'm browsing the web, watching Netflix, or playing a game, the connection gets lost. As we speak it happened again. I have no clue on what to do. I've reconfigured it multiple times. Firmware has been updated months ago.
I have an E1000 router and recently moved to a basement apartment where the only internet access comes from a single Ethernet cable running out of a router upstairs. I can connect to that network (it is family) but ideally I would like to connect my router and create a second network so that I can connect my printer and other devices independently of the upstairs network.
I have a router WRT160N and I want to connect an AP using a wireless bridge to enhance my WIFI coverage.Which AP is recommended to use without cable together with the WRT160N?
confirm if the highest speed I can get over WiFi with WRT160N v3 is actually 270 Mbps (and not 300 Mbps as advertised), And there's one more thing - is it normal to have Signal: -51; Noise: -93, SNR: 43, Signal quality 53% if I am only 2 meters far from a router? TX power is set to 28.
I have a wrt160n v3. This is the 3rd one - both the first 2 were defective. I have spent approximately 8 hours troubleshooting the other 2 only to be told they're defective. So, I got a new one. Now, this one keeps cutting in and out. I want as my iPhone constantly switches from 3G to wifi on and over every minute. It really ticks me off! What can I do to fix this? This is a different issue than the original one (very slow) and 2nd (no signal). It's disappointing for a $90 router to do this. I also see the wireless icon on the router flash.
turning my wireless back on. Some how in attempting to create a shared file between my pc and my wife's Mac the wireless has been disabled. I have tried resetting the device several times following the instructions on line however I still can not get the wireless to re activate. I tried reverse directions from the posts on how to turn off the wireless but still no luck. I tried restoring the computer to a later date?
I'm having an issue getting my tv to start connecting again to the wireless router.Have tried pin setup (timed out & didn't connect...attempted at least 10 times in this fashion)Have tried entering the password (router seems to refuse the connection to the tv)About a month ago, I was in the Network Magic Map & it looked like one of the laptops had been cloned, so I removed it from the network.
I have a WRT160N v3 Linksys Router and it keeps disconnecting and then reconnecting. It only disconnects wirelessly. LAN still works fine.I have tried a lot of different methods to solve this issue, but none seem to work.I am very dissappointed in the quality of the product. It has done this every since it was bought. I personally would have sent it in for repairs, but others in my household would not have agreed to that.
Just tried to register my WRT160N V2 and when I tried firstly there is no option for the version 2 model and secondly it says my serial No is incorrect when I have tried it three times and have checked it thoroughly.
While using Skype I am experiencing poor sound quality, sometimes callers are unable to hear me at all and visa versa. There is a lot of cutting out. My internet connection is fine.
I have two PC's hardwired to this router that are working okay (although performance has been choppy lately). The past 4 days however, when I try to connect wirelessly I get connections that are repeatedly dropped. I am in the Settings section of my iPad 2 and it keeps rapidly switching between "connected" and "not connected". Firmware is up to date.
Desktop Xp 3 and connected printer, Comcast cable, WRT160N, wireless laptop w/ Xp 3. Printer is only parallel, and is connected to desktop. How to setup all and print wirelessly from laptop through WRT160N to printer on desktop?
I have a wrt160n as my main router cascading to an e1200 at the other end of my house. The idea was to enhance the wireless signal there. Went thru extended discussion with Cisco support settnig the system up.
Ip address of e1200 is set more than 5 apart from primary router, dhcp is disabled. The connection bewtween routers is Wan to Wan.
I have wired signal at the e1200 but no wireless signal?
I have a FIOS setup with their Router/modem providing DHCP and Wireless routing. The problem I have is that I have a mix of older equipment and newer equipment. The newer equipment is capable of supporting WPA2, the older is not. I would like the benefits of WPA2, but still would like to at times be able to use the older equipment. My solution was to use a WRT160N v2 router that I had as an access point and it also gives me switch capabilities for wired systems as the FIOS router in on a different floor than the Linksys router. Wired access works just fine and the wireless worked fine until just recently.Since both routers have the same default IP addresses I changed the Linksys to a different static IP and turned off DHCP. I left all of the other defaults the same. I set up the Linksys for WEP and created the key for security. Everything worked fine for the better part of a year, but recently I am having problems where some of the computers cannot find the network or find it then lose connection.
I am considering to purchase a Linksys Wireless router, but I just don't know which one to select. There are so many different types that seem to have very similar (if not equal) specs. If I just limit myself to the WRT120N, the WRT160N and the E1000, they all have 4 ethernet ports (10/100), and they all support 802.11 b/g/n for the wireless part.Obviously they all promise a blazing performance, and wireless coverage throughout the whole house, without (many) blind spots. But if their specs are the same, why are they different types?
I have a WRT 160N v2 router. There's 1 computer wired to it, that works fine. Then I have 2 laptops and a pc wireless to it. One laptop is a mac and that seems to be fine, another is a Compaq notebook that has trouble connecting and the pc has the same problem. The signal strength is very good to excellent so thats not the issue. What happens with the pc is, it will connect but at times its only for a few seconds then it disconnects. Sometimes restarting the computer fixes it for a while but it will eventually start having the problem again. It detects the wireless network just fine, and the router's firmware is up to date. I have a feeling that its the settings in the router but im not sure what to change.
I have two computers on hard line and two laptops. All computers on the line work fine and flawlessly. But when I try to connect the laptops to the computer, they say there's a problem with the certificate. Both detect the connection, and with strong enough signal strength. I've tried WPA and WEP encryption methods, and disabling encryption methods. All had no change. I believe the problem lies with this Wi-Fi Protected Setup stuff, which I have no clue as to what the hell it's supposed to do. I've tried disabling it by turning it to manual, which all computers then lose internet connection entirely. Browsing the FAQ's, I havn't found a solution. I've been working on this thing for a solid 7 and a half hours straight, and phone support is trying to make me configure static IPs, which proved extremely inconvenient in the past.
I just bought a Linksys WRT160N router. I pop the installation disk in my mac book pro and walk thru the installation procedure successfully. But I can't connect wirelessly from my MacBook Pro (running mac os x 10.5).It sees the router and I did type in the password correctly (i copy from the text file generated by the installation procedure), but I keep getting 'coonnection timeout'.
My Linksys WRT160N wireless router stopped working all of the sudden. When I connect to the internet wirelessly my laptops say I have full signal but "No Internet Access." None of the 4 wired ports on the back of the WRT160N router give me wired internet. The only way I can get internet is to connect the wire to my internet modem
I selected: Static IP Static IP:192.168.0.100 Subnet: 255.255.255.252 Gateway:192.168.0.1 DNS: 60.49.166.105
I am a Malaysian, using Streamyx here, I search some articles shows that the ISP given is 60.49.166.105 or 60.49.166.106. Am I right in the setup? Why I am still unable to online though successful to connect after the setup configuration?
I need to go two ways in my house to improve the wireless signal. Do I just run ethernet cable from the router to the access points? Do i then setup each AP?
I have" a WRT160N but I guess we had a power outage while I was on vacation and now I can't connect to my old network I set up.I see the Linksys internet connection and I can connect but its not the password protected one I set up. When I go to "manage connection" I can see the old "house" connection but can't connect
