Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT160N Unable To Connect Ipad3 To Home Network
Dec 12, 2012
I am unable to connect my Ipad3 to my home network (WRT160N router). It has been working for the last 8 months, and stopped working after I installed Direct TV App on Ipad..It detects the network, but not accepts the PW.... I have multiple wireless devicess connected to my network without any problems..The funny thing is that my neighbor brings his ipad to my house and he is able to connect..My ipad connects to any other network...just not my home network.. I contacted Apple who spend hours with me on the phone and suggested doing a full reset on the ipad, but still did not solve the problem..I called and already paid for linksys support ($62.95) who spend hours with me on the phone, but suggesting: "maybe you need to buy another router"...REALLY!!!! Again, I have 3 Smart TVs, Xbox360, and Wii, that are connected to the network just fine .even my neibor comes with his Ipad3 and connects to my network just fine......and I can connect with my ipad to any other network without any problems... BTW, I have already removed the DirectTV app from the ipad....but I still cannot connect to my network..
This was for a WRT160n v3.0.02 I looked up several suggestions online and decided to update the firmware to v3.0.03 This seemed to only make it worse as I could no longer connect, and when I turned the router off and back on it would allow me in for about a minute and drop me right away.I started tweaking with the settings, and came across some posts here such as this one, started tweaking with the channel settings and everything. Nothing. If anything I somehow made it worse since now instead of dropping repeatedly it wouldn't connect at all except for about a minute after restarting router, then it would drop completely (I would either get the limited access notification or I simply couldn't connect and windows said to unplug the access point. I recalled I had another Linksys router that I wasn't using in storage, a WRT54G2v 1.0.01 so I set that up, no problems... at first. All other devices picked it up right away, but once again, my new laptop decides it's too good for the freaking network and drops it repeatedly telling me there's a problem with the access point.
So at this point I'm thinking it might NOT be my network, but my wireless card or something, I uninstalled and reinstalled, updated drivers, (I use a Realtek RTL8723AE Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC) I even came across this article and disabled browser service and NETBios (including all other devices on my network). It brought back the network on my laptop for a bit, only to smugly come crashing down again.
I recently installed a new router - WRTP54G . I used to have our 2 machines on a home network. However, that is all gone now. When I open My Network Places on my pc, nothing at all appears. On the other pc only the shared folders on that pc appears. I've tried running the network wizard several times and to no avail. I've checked the permissions and everything else I can think of, but it still doesn't work. I believe it is probably something simple to fix, like checking the right box, but I haven't found it yet. Both machines are running XP Home and I have an external drive attached to my pc. Everything worked fine till the installation of this new router. Should I just create a new network? Would that just be easier? One more thing, I got the error that says Home is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact admin of this server to find out if you have access permission. The network path was not found. Of course, I am the admin.
Often my router drops connection to all my devices. Multiple times a day. It's only for a minute or so, but it's annoying. I'm using a Linksys Wireless-N router (WRT160N) with WEP encryption. I'm running two Windows 7 laptops, LG BluRay player, Apple TV, Xbox 360 (Wired) iPhone 4, and a iPad 2. It doesn't matter if I'm browsing the web, watching Netflix, or playing a game, the connection gets lost. As we speak it happened again. I have no clue on what to do. I've reconfigured it multiple times. Firmware has been updated months ago.
I purchased a cisco linksys router WRT160N and have it wired - when i try to reach some places i get a HOME NETWORK DEFENDER that does not allow me to proceed - how do i get rid of this home network defender - i have tried to go to network magic but that does not work.
How can I block Hulu access via my home network? The reason for this is that I have about 10 computers connected to the network and not very much bandwidth, so I would like to limit web access strictly to browsing, emails, etc and not for streaming TV/media.
My network is running on a Linksys WRT160N router that has been flashed with DD-WRT v24-sp2 (04/23/10) std firmware.I have tried "Website Blocking by URL Address" and "Website Blocking by Keyword" in my router settings but neither seem to take effect.
I have" a WRT160N but I guess we had a power outage while I was on vacation and now I can't connect to my old network I set up.I see the Linksys internet connection and I can connect but its not the password protected one I set up. When I go to "manage connection" I can see the old "house" connection but can't connect
How do I setup a WRT160N as a wireless adapter to connect a wireless printer to my network? I do not use the wrt 160 as a router because I have an AT&T router for u-verse connection. Also, I physically cannot wire the printer to the main router (opposite corners of the house).
I use the Smart Wi-Fi app on my iPad3 (IOS 6.1.3) to access my EA4500 remotely. When I want to add a port forwarding, it shows always 192.168 as start of the ip address related to the ports. But I have a 10.71 network installed and cannot change the 192.168 to 10.71. I suppose this is a bug.
I selected: Static IP Static IP:192.168.0.100 Subnet: 255.255.255.252 Gateway:192.168.0.1 DNS: 60.49.166.105
I am a Malaysian, using Streamyx here, I search some articles shows that the ISP given is 60.49.166.105 or 60.49.166.106. Am I right in the setup? Why I am still unable to online though successful to connect after the setup configuration?
Using router WRT160N when trying to change password system locks lost password and hit reset now everyone in neborhood can access my router running real slow now
I've problems connecting to my wireless network. i do not face this problem in the past until recently i've some problems with my laptop. after i re-format my laptop, i faced with this problem. here are some of the images i took.
I'll try and keep this brief, we were having problems with our netgear router (DGN1000) mainly with connection when online gaming with PS3, generally poor connection - so purchased a TP-Link router (TD-W8960N). We could usually access the netgear wirelessly on our laptops Dell and Acer Aspire 4820T (both Windows 7) without any problems and were still doing so last night. However hubby attempted to install the new router last night and all seemed to go fine but after installing we couldn't connect to the wireless network through laptops, iphone ps3 etc - even though we could see the network with excellent strength, after hours of trying called TP-Link they went through everything they could think of and still no joy. Gave up in the end and went to reinstall the netgear Router and now we have the same problem with this router, even though earlier in the night it wasn't a problem - we deleted the previous networks so there was nothing stored in memory & tried everything we can think of (although neither of us are brilliant with IT we do usually get by).We even set up an unsecured wireless network (on both routers) and still couldn't connect?
I have a dell inspiron 1545 and my internet was working fine last night. My laptop restarted at some point during the night and now it can't connect to my normal wireless network. when I use my phone as a wifi hotspot, my laptop can connect to it.My desktop connects to my home's wireless network fine so I'm not sure why my laptop, which can connect to other networks fine, can't connect to my working home network
I have a Cisco Linksys Router Model WRT120N - which is connect wirelessly to my MAC home computer. I also have a Dell D630 Laptop using WindowsXP. I have recently moved and my laptop used to connect to my wireless router (when I was at my old house) But now at my new house my laptop wont connect. It will connect wirelessly at other locations. The laptop picks up the wireless name and shows full strength.
I have a xbox 360 that I want to connect to xbox live with, using my home network. Every time I try to connect to xbox live the only part that fails is the connecting to xbox live part. This is how my network is set up. I have Cox Cable as my ISP, a Linksys WCG200 gateway(v2), and WRT54GS(v7). The cable wire is connected to the WCG200 gateway, then an Ethernet cable connects the gateway to the WRT54GS router, and finally an Ethernet cable connects the router to my xbox 360. I have contacted Cox, Linksys, and Microsoft about the situation and they all say the problem is the version of the router. Someone told me that I may just need to change the firmware, but I don't know how to do that.
I'm having an issue getting my tv to start connecting again to the wireless router.Have tried pin setup (timed out & didn't connect...attempted at least 10 times in this fashion)Have tried entering the password (router seems to refuse the connection to the tv)About a month ago, I was in the Network Magic Map & it looked like one of the laptops had been cloned, so I removed it from the network.
I have a Linksys E1500 wireless router that I have had for about 3 months and it has been working great up until today. I realized non of my wireless devices could detect the network, so I got on my PC which is hard wired to the router and it to says it had no network connection. So I power cycled both the router and the modem. When it came back up, this PC that I am typing from now has an internet connection but is says it is connected to Network 2 instead of the routers name for the network. My other PC that is hard wired to the router says its not connected to the network, and when I open up the Cisco Connect software it tells me my router is not plugged in. Also, nothing works wirelessly. In the web control panel it still has all my setting intact but still looks like its not connected to the internet.
I have two computers on hard line and two laptops. All computers on the line work fine and flawlessly. But when I try to connect the laptops to the computer, they say there's a problem with the certificate. Both detect the connection, and with strong enough signal strength. I've tried WPA and WEP encryption methods, and disabling encryption methods. All had no change. I believe the problem lies with this Wi-Fi Protected Setup stuff, which I have no clue as to what the hell it's supposed to do. I've tried disabling it by turning it to manual, which all computers then lose internet connection entirely. Browsing the FAQ's, I havn't found a solution. I've been working on this thing for a solid 7 and a half hours straight, and phone support is trying to make me configure static IPs, which proved extremely inconvenient in the past.
I just bought a Linksys WRT160N router. I pop the installation disk in my mac book pro and walk thru the installation procedure successfully. But I can't connect wirelessly from my MacBook Pro (running mac os x 10.5).It sees the router and I did type in the password correctly (i copy from the text file generated by the installation procedure), but I keep getting 'coonnection timeout'.
I need to go two ways in my house to improve the wireless signal. Do I just run ethernet cable from the router to the access points? Do i then setup each AP?
I've been using a WRT160N for a couple of years now with no problems with any of my devices. I have a couple of certain devices (a DS and a PSP mainly) that utilize 802.11b and have been working perfectly up until now.
All of a sudden it seems like the router has decided all by itself to no longer allow 802.11b devices to connect to it, despite it being configured in mixed mode. (b/g/N) I've tried tinkering around with it, switching between Mixed and BG-Mixed, changing the channel to something more common and restarting the router, but I can't connect at all on these devices.Model: Cisco Linksys WRT160N v3.Firmware version: 3.0.03.
I have a WRT610N which does not allow me to connect any new devices to the wireless network. This is a recent problem as I have been able to connect new devices before. Devices on the wireless network, those that have been on the network, are able to disconnect and reconnect. Just new devices are excluded. Have gone through the admin screens to see if something is amiss but can not find anything.
I am unable to connect the Asus PCE-N13 (Windows 7 host) to the WRT610N V1.0 N network. The adapter does not see the N network on the LinkSys but there are other N networks in the list. I have updated the latest drivers. My PC Laptop, Macbook Pro, and Xbox 360 connects to the N network.
I have a Linksys WRT120N which had suddenly and unexectedly stopped working after disconnecting my roku box. I didnt worry about it until I got an Iphone and now .I was able to re-establish the wireless connection on my netbook today after a ton of research and messing around with the settings and then downloaded network magic, which finally fixed the problem. I believe that it automatically transmitted the WEP key to the Netbook, which is what I am missing when I try to log into the network on the Iphone. How do I get this password to show up on Network Magic? When I look at the settings, it does not show the actual numbers, they are hidden.
Every time I try to connect to the admin page of my router, I get "The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading." This happens with FIrefox 11, and started when I upgraded to 8 or 9. A machine running FF 3.6 does not exhibit this problem; I get right in. What IE 9 says is "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" (after complaining about the expired certificate).
I ran Wireshark to see if I could learn anything, but all I could figure out was this: https handshake was OK. First TLS packet is received by router, which then immediately issues a reset and ends the connection. I don't know why.
have I got a screwed up configuration (or router)?
Windows 7 laptop does not connect to Wiress router WRT160N. It used to connect automatically for years when laptop is booted. Now Windows troubleshooting gives message to reboot wireless router. It connects automatically when the wireless is rebooted. This issue occues when the router is ON for long time ~ 12 hours or more.
I've been searching and searching the internet and I have never found a CERTAIN answer for if the linksys wrt160n v3 router will work for the ps3 or not. I want to know for sure if it will work because I know that is it sbackwords compatible with g/b/a networks but I am a newby at this stuff.
Purchased today 26th March 2012, used CD first as warned, followed procedures, will not connect to WAG 160N modem router. WAG160N has MAC restrictions but MAC of WRT160N added, both in wireless and as a computer. Still won´t connect, gets to 85% in wireless connect mode then fails, gets to stage 4 of router recognition and fails, saying check cables. Cables changed to know working ones, still no success. Tried pinging 192.168.1.1 direct from computer with no success, no access to router log-in page at all. WAG 160N has no problems.
