View 1 RepliesI have an Adroid 2.3.1 tablet, a WRT160N router, and an ActionTec M1000 DSL modem. I have many devices, both wired and wireless, connected and all work fine. These include xBox (Port Triggering in place) and 2 laptops via wireless and 3 machines wired. For some reason the Android tablet will not connect. It does connect to other WIFI spots including neighbors, cafes, etc. For this reason I believe the issue is with the router.I have tried all sorts of things including:
Change advanced wireless settings (Beacon Interval, Fragmentation Threshold, RTS Threshold)Tried B, G, B&G, B/G/NTried WEP, WPA, WPA2Tried Channel 1, 6, 11.Reset the router (via reset button, via Factory Defaults option, Reboot, power off 10 secs, back on)Updated router firmware to latestUpdated tablet firmware to latestTried enabling MAC Address filteringAt one time I saw messages in the DHCP log wherein it was trying to register and I noticed the MAC Address doesn't match what the tablet says it has. Now I can't even get that. It says "Connecting", a few seconds then "Disconnected".I am now forced to consider getting a new router. If I can't get this resolved, the new one will not be manufactured by Cisco.
I have" a WRT160N but I guess we had a power outage while I was on vacation and now I can't connect to my old network I set up.I see the Linksys internet connection and I can connect but its not the password protected one I set up. When I go to "manage connection" I can see the old "house" connection but can't connect
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am experiencing - loosing network connectivity entirely (between the router and the cable modem) or loosing connection to some clients: 2 wireless laptops - one N and one G, and 4 wired connections. This requires a reboot of the router 2-3 times a day. Never experienced any of these problems with a Linksys WRT54G, a unit that this one replaced. Unless I can resolve it, the WRT54G is going back in, and WRT160N is going back.

I have a wrt160n that I would like to use to expand the range of my wireless network. I have tried a few solutions, but to no avail. I am thinking I have just not found the proper steps.I am behind a dsl wireless router that Telus has provided me. The values of that router setup are as follows:SSID: TELUS4108WPA/WPA2-AESDefault gateway: 75.156.190.1DNS address: 199.185.220.254Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
View 9 Replies View RelatedThis was for a WRT160n v3.0.02 I looked up several suggestions online and decided to update the firmware to v3.0.03 This seemed to only make it worse as I could no longer connect, and when I turned the router off and back on it would allow me in for about a minute and drop me right away.I started tweaking with the settings, and came across some posts here such as this one, started tweaking with the channel settings and everything. Nothing. If anything I somehow made it worse since now instead of dropping repeatedly it wouldn't connect at all except for about a minute after restarting router, then it would drop completely (I would either get the limited access notification or I simply couldn't connect and windows said to unplug the access point. I recalled I had another Linksys router that I wasn't using in storage, a WRT54G2v 1.0.01 so I set that up, no problems... at first. All other devices picked it up right away, but once again, my new laptop decides it's too good for the freaking network and drops it repeatedly telling me there's a problem with the access point.
So at this point I'm thinking it might NOT be my network, but my wireless card or something, I uninstalled and reinstalled, updated drivers, (I use a Realtek RTL8723AE Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC) I even came across this article and disabled browser service and NETBios (including all other devices on my network). It brought back the network on my laptop for a bit, only to smugly come crashing down again.
For a while now, my wireless network at home has been very unreliable. I posted on these forums before, asking for assistance to fix crashes that seemed to be random. I was largely unsuccessful, and the problem continued. However, as I continued to experiment with different methods to keep my network up and running, I noticed that as long as I had at least one device connected to the network around-the-clock it never crashed. This was easy enough, as I own an iPod touch and a dock (I would leave it sitting it the dock unlocked all the time). But it's annoying to never be able to leave the house with it, and I'm ready to finally get a solution to the problem once and for all. I would prefer not getting a new router, but if worse comes to worse I will.
To sum it up:
-Works perfectly (when up) at full speed, never crashes unless there are no devices connected to it.
-When it does crash, it is very difficult to 'coax' it back into working again; it's been down for weeks at a time before.
-For some strange reason (and maybe this is a clue), newer game systems such as a Nintendo DSi or PS3 can make it start working again. I, of course, own neither of these.
-I'm using a WRT160N V3, latest firmware as far as i know.
I have a wrt160n router set up at a friends house that i would connect my windows xp laptor to when i would go there. it always worked fine. i recently got a new laptop with vista 64 bit OS. i went to my friends today and connected via wireless for the first time. i expected to get prompted for the security key. instead it asked for the pin #. the pin number was something new i noticed when i replaced an older linksys with the new wrt160n so i had it in my notes. i entered the pin number and connected to the wireless router. but then my friend laptop could not connect and said it couldnt find the network. when i viewed the available networks, i noticed that the original network SSID had been changed to my vista laptop's computer name. i had to physically connect my laptop to the router and reconfigure the settings of the wireless network. then my friend was able to see the available network and automatically connect..

It goes something like this
i) A - B --ETHERNET-- E
ii) A - B --ETHERNET-- C
iii) A - B --FIBER to another building, then ETHERNET -- D
Everything connects to the internet, but (D) on (iii) doesn't allow connection to the server (E). What can I do to make this work?
Often my router drops connection to all my devices. Multiple times a day. It's only for a minute or so, but it's annoying. I'm using a Linksys Wireless-N router (WRT160N) with WEP encryption. I'm running two Windows 7 laptops, LG BluRay player, Apple TV, Xbox 360 (Wired) iPhone 4, and a iPad 2. It doesn't matter if I'm browsing the web, watching Netflix, or playing a game, the connection gets lost. As we speak it happened again. I have no clue on what to do. I've reconfigured it multiple times. Firmware has been updated months ago.

View 2 Replies View Relatedhome router is a wrt160n v3 With my iPad I set up the built in IPSec VPN to my office's cisco gateway. I successfully get the VPN logo. With an RDP app, i can access my work network from multiple public locations from my iPad. At home, on my laptop, I start the cisco client then use the windows rdp, presto i'm in my work network. At home on my iPad I can activate the VPN, but I can not connect with rdp. I spoke with linksys support tonight they had me add port 3389 to port range triggering and disable the firewall on the home router. This didn't solve the problem. To recap: 1) I can connect to my work network with rdp from multiple public locations, but not at home with the iPad 2) I can connect to my work network at home with my laptop with the cisco client ant the windows rdp

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a wrt54gs linsys router with speedbooster. I bought my son a tablet for xmas. I cannot connect the tablet to the network. It finds my network, searches for an IP address, and then disconnects. It will connect for about 2 seconds, and then shows disconnected. My PC's, and WII work fine, although getting the WII ad netflix to reconnect after a power outage is like rocket science requiring field support every time. My tablet wont stay connected, and the book tells me that the router must accept 802.11b/g, and that if it has 802.11n, then it needs to be reconfigured to accept 802.11b/g.

I want as my iPhone constantly switches from 3G to wifi on and over every minute. It really ticks me off! What can I do to fix this? This is a different issue than the original one (very slow) and 2nd (no signal). It's disappointing for a $90 router to do this. I also see the wireless icon on the router flash.
