View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a WRT160NL router. I have a 10/10 Mbps internet connection, but when I am connected via the router it only gives me ~2.5/1 Mbps speeds. Connecting my computer directly to the "wall" results in 10/10 Mbps speeds. I have tried connecting to the router both wireless and by wire, it makes no difference. The internal wired and wireless speeds are fine, as I have copied files over the internal switch and via the wireless network at relatively high speeds. I have not fiddled with any connection settings except creating a few permanent DHCP leases.

View 2 Replies View Relatedi have 2 questions regarding wrt160nl.
1.Is it possible to have ssh or telnet access on the router, with the default firmware?
2.Is it possible to disable one of the antennas on the router, while has installed the default firmware?
I have a issue with using a Media Server in my WRT160NL. I have tried several firmwares, but issue exists in all firmwares.I tried to play files on my Samsung LCD TV with embedded media player (this player can play files from USB storage or from DLNA servers). I have several video files in mkv and avi format. My TV has wireless connection to router (270Mbit). And I have the following situation:1. I write these files on USB drive, plug to TV, play in embedded player - all OK.2. I have a samsung DLNA server on PC and try to play the same files from PC via network - all OK. (My network - PC to WRT160NL via cable, TV and some other devices via WiFi, but in this time only TV via WiFi.)3. I plug the same USB drive with same files to WRT160NL, go to settings and enable Media Server, choose two folders for scan (one for MKV, one for AVI), scan it. I run player on TV, choose WRT160NL. TV can see all video files, but:- when I try to play mkv file - I have error after several seconds "the unsupported file format"- when I try to play avi file - it plays, but after 20-40 seconds I have error "WRT160NL is disconnected".What is wrong with DLNA server in WRT160NL? Because from other server via router all OK. USB drive in NTFS format, maybe I need to use a ext3 or other file system for DLNA?

I have a Gigabyte M912 netbook that used to connect to Internet over wireless through my old D-Link and had no problems with that.
With WL160NL it connects to the wireless all right, but it does not go anywhere from there. It gets an IP address, connects successfully, but no internet sites can be accessed. Pinging gateway (192.168.1.1) gives 4 request timeouts. Other devices (Acer A500 tablet, sever smartphones, even a blasted Wowwee Rovio) have no similar problems< connecting and seeing each other and connecting to the Internet.
1. I have no idea why that happens.
2. Restarting the netbook, switching the wifi module on and off, removing remembered network settings and inputting them anew etc. does nothing.
3. Manually configuring the netbook to use a predefined static IP address instead of DHCP did not work.
The netbook uses an Atheros AR5007EG module.
I have an issue with new Win8 & IE10. When I try to access web management interface of my wrt160nl (Firmware Version: 1.00.01 B15) via HTTPS I'm receiving the foolowing message:"Continue to this website (not recommended)." If I click on it another error page appears:"Certification error: Navigation blocked. There is a problem with this website's security certificate"
At the same time I'm able to acccess the management interface via HTTPS, but from my laptop with Win7 & IE9. There if I click on the red Certificate Error > View certificate and the certificate information is:Issued by: Linksys Issued to: Linksys Valid from : 1.1.2009 to 1.1.2010
So I'd like to know if I could update the router certificate or what settings should I use in IE10 in order to access the web management interface via HTTPS?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI took one and a half hours to get everything set up, I've got a PPoE connection, my problem is that ever since I entered the administration interface each and every page takes 2-5 minutes to load, it's absurdly slow, also, when trying to setup my WiFi, it timed out several times, I updated the router to the latest firmware, the same issue, it took me 4-5 retries to get WiFi set up properly. Sometimes navigating from page to page is quicker, 30-40seconds, but still those are some big times.
Is this normal behavior or do I have a hardware problem and I need to take it back and request a new one?
Mention: I am wired from a laptop, all the lights are blue, blinking nicely.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an NTFS formatted USB disk drive (Western Digital My Passport Essential Black 320 GB WDBAAA3200ABK) attached to the WRT160NL wireless router (Firmware Version 1.0.02), and I have video, picture and music files on the USB disk drive in three folders: Videos, Music, Pictures. Auto-scan is disabled, I scan the media files manually by clicking on the 'Scan All' button.
PROBLEM 1 The worst problem is that the router is very sensitive to files that can't be recognized by the router as media files. For example if there are subtitle files (*.str) between the media files, then strange and nondeterministic things happen: some valid media files are skipped and not included in the media database; some files included but the file names are mixed. The most irritating in the bug is that there is no log file, where you could find the problem, and so you never know which file cause the problem, and you have to browse through all the files hunting for the cause.
PROBLEM 2 When the router is in the process of scanning the media files, then the internet (WAN) connection often can't be used, although the router can be accessed and the status says it is connected to the internet.
My University has free Internet at student homes, but we need to login by PPTP to get an official, public IPv4 and be able to reach the outside world. The network people at the University says that when the PPTP is up, everything should be open (no firewall of any kind).
have my WRT160NL that gets a 10.10.73.0/23 address from DHCP on WAN port. Currently I have 10.10.74.21. My internal network uses 172.17.17.0/24.My PPTP-server is located at 10.192.1.1 and when I connect, I usually get an IP in the 158.37.73.0/24-range. Currently I have 158.37.73.28. I use DynDNS to make sure I always know the public IP by the host binders.dyndns.info ...
So, I have Remote management enabled with HTTP and HTTPS, any IP and default port 8080. But no response from the outside world seems to go through. If I turn of the "filter ICMP" but keep the SPI Firewall on, I get ping reply from external sources towards my router, but still no HTTP or HTTPS response.I also have a Torrent I try to port forward to to be active, this is 23277, and this is the only thing that keeps coming up in the incoming log on my router.
It's not possible to connect to the routers management over the PPTP-tunnel?And why can't I get the port forward to work .. Same reason? PPTP 158.37.73.28 -> 172.17.17.100 (LAN) won't work?

After 3 days of trying to connect my WD Elements 3TB I succeeded with 2 partitions of 1TB and one of 700 Gb not visible from router. I'm ok with that. The problem now is when I copy my files. I'm trying to create TV Series library for my Apple TV. Everything is working fine except the size of the files. When I'm copying files from PC USB they are corrupted on the network storage and not accessible. When I'm copying one file of size 350 Mb on the Network Storage via WIFI working fine but is saved with size of 2,7 Gb.
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo the problem is this: I have a Samsung TV (LE32B650) with the most recent firmware installed, connected via wire with the WRT160NL.The router also has a 320 GB disk plugged in with a bunch of movies. When I use the uPnP media server with Windows 7 PCs (wirelessly) or even a Samsung smartfone it all works very well. However the TV has an issue disconnecting from the media server in just moments from turning the DLNA function.Well to be more precise the TV says the the media served got disconnected. The router has the latest firmware, I have tried with HDDs ane thumbdrives (with just 1 AVI to make sure there is no conflict of unsupported file formats), I exchanged the wire (TV<->router), added guest user to access the partition with all scanned folders.

My Belkin F7D4301 Router has the fastest wireless speed of maybe 2MBps but wired with a cat5e cable to my asus laptop of almost 7MBps. I have a one smart TV, one blue ray, one roku, and a nexus 7 using the 2.4 channel.
My Wireless 2.4 settings are channel 11, Extension channel 7, Wireless mode N (have tried with just g and b, g, and n modes), Bandwidth 20/40, Protected mode on, QOS off.
I've talked to Belkin tech support, they are the ones who had me set up my 2.4 channel this way but my wireless speeds stay just under 2MBps, they just want to keep sending me the same model Router because they think each of the new ones they send me is defective.
Am I doing something wrong or is 2MBps the best wireless speed I'm going to get?
I'm using linksys WRT160NL router and it works fine with 2 laptops, but other 2 laptops have problems with disconnecting from network and them it says Limited access internet. It's happening very often and especialy when downloading.I updated firmware and tried different channels, didn't work. Network mode is Mixed, could this cause the problem? Could it be problem with internet provider?
View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently the Comcast internet service in my area was upgraded to 50+ Mbps/10+ Mbps download/upload respectively. If I have my computer wired to the router, I see the advertised speeds of 50/10. If I go wireless, the speeds drop to around 30 Mbps download, but stay at around 10 Mbps upload. The router I have is a Linksys WRT160Nv1.I believe the issue has to do with "WMM Support" in my router's settings. From what I've heard, the router has to have WMM enabled for true wireless N speeds, but when I have WMM enabled, my wireless download speeds drop to around .5 Mbps. However, this is the odd part. My upload speeds stay at 10+ Mbps. This happens for all devices in my house.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently installed a refurbished E2500 router. The reported speeds I got when hovering over the icon in the system tray ranged from 54 Mbps down to 1.0 Mbps. Also, it would drop, then reestablish, the connection several times per day.I contacted Tech Support via Live Chat, and got a woman who told me it was due to the fact that I'm using the router with an older system that has a wireless-G card (I'll be getting a new system soon).Of course, I thought that was ridiculous, so I called Linksys Tech Support and got a young man who had me reinstall the firmware upgrade (which I had already done when I installed the router). After that, it was good for about 24 hours, then the problems manifested again.I returned the router and ordered a replacement, also refrubished. Again, I upgraded the firmware upon installation. .

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a WRT600N router. I have one PC that is connected to the router via a wired connection. I also have an iPad (3rd generation) that is connected to the router via a wireless connection. On my PC, I went to speedtest.net and determined that I am receiving like 20MB downloads via the wired connection. However, my iPad only gets approximately less than 2 MB download speeds. I have tried reseting the router and I do have what I believe to be the latest firmware update (Firmware Version: 1.01.36 build 4). I also receive the slow download speeds when I try connecting the other wireless devices. I assume my problem has to do with some sort of configuration setting found in the router configuration page (http://192.168.1.1/). The router is only a few feet away from my iPad so the signal strength is strong. I just don't understand why I'm receiving such slow wireless download speeds.

I haven't changed ANYTHING in regards to the setup, so I don't see what I could possibly be doing wrong. I even went as far as hooking up the old E4200 to my laptop while having the EA6500 hooked up to my desktop so that I could cross-reference the router settings. They were exactly the same.
