Just bought a WRT400N and set it up using 5ghz and 2.4ghz bands, and using WPA TKIP for both. Problem is that both my laptop and my iphone occasionally lose connectivity and my iPhone says that my WPA key isn't valid.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have the WRT400N router and using windows 7 (on this computer). It works perfectly with any computer I use in the house (there's 3). As soon as I open a laptop, its connected. My iPhone (we have 2) and an iTouch, are a different story. They connect, stay connected sometimes for 5 minutes, sometimes 5 hours, then will drop the connection out of nowhere. It doesn't matter how close or far I am from the router. Sometimes I'll get a message that I have an incorrect password (which it's not, which is why it DOES work). Sometimes I don't get a message at all (on the phones I'll just notice its on E/3G). Now, looking through the database I noticed there is a program for the valet routers that lets you add the phones, yet this doesn't apply to mine.
The tech in live chat told me it was the phones. I know its not as I had a wireless modem before this, and I never once lost a signal or had it ask me for an incorrect password.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having problems with connectivity and my iPhone 5. The Wi-Fi is okay in some parts of my home network, however in others it is abysmmal. When I bring my computer to the places where the iPhone has problems with signal strength/staying connected the computers have full or almost full strength and no problems. I upgraded firmware for the router, spoke with applecare, have reset the router multiple times, and have been trying different channels. I had the phone in with the Apple store where they concluded nothing seems wrong with the hardware. The phone doesn't seem to have problems like this on other wifi networks I have tried. Using a speed test on the iPhone at home in the low connectivity areas results in horrendously poor latency numbers.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI just installed the E2500 wireless router, and it works great for all devices we've tried so far. Here's the thing: we have a laptop that has been humming perfectly along for more that 12 years because we have never let it be touched by the internet. It has built in wi-fi, but we've never connected it. It has no viruses, no Microsoft creep, we've never had to purchase a virus software update and it has outlasted every piece of computer equipment we've ever owned. We'd like to keep it that way!
But now that the wireless printer is working beautifully, we want to know if there's a way to send the laptop through the router to the wireless printer, but not expose it to the internet. Is that possible?
At my office we have a simple network using a Netgear WGR614 V7 router. 4 XP machines are connected via Ethernet cable and three other people are connected wirelessly (one XP laptop, one Win7 laptop and one Win 7 netbook). It appears that whenever the netbook is on the network, the other two laptops lose connectivity. The wired machines are fine. Power cycling the router and rebooting usually solves the problem.

It worked fine until a month or so ago when it would occasionally disconnect. At first I thought it was my Internet company but I started using the Cisco Connect app to fix it after restarting the router. The first time it worked great for about 2 weeks, but a few days ago it started disconnecting several times a day. Now it doesn't last 10 minutes before it quits. View 9 Replies View RelatedI have 2 computers hooked up to the router via wire and wife using wireless on her laptop.I'm playing games on internet and soon I noticed I got occasionally ping spikes.. The ping get beyond 1000 - 1500 so the screen is in fact temporary freezed. Sometimes those spikes can occur with 10-15 minutes inbetween them sometimes it can be an hour or more before I notice it.I'm running Windows 7 on both my computers. I first thought it was Microsoft was to throttle the packets so I did the change in the registry. But these spikes still happen. After some testings I also notice they happen at the same time on both computers so my conclusion is that it's something with the router.
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy iphone wireless connectivity to my Linksys router that I have put up with for a year, but as I now have the same issue with my ipad I've decided enough is enough.The issue is that they both connect OK to the router and therefore to the internet, but after a short period of time (minutes) whilst it appears that they are still connected to the router the connection seems to completely hang. At that point I have to go into settings on the iphone/ipad and turn off the wireless connection and turn it on again. This then allows connectivity and internet activity for 5-10 (15-20) minutes before it hangs again.I have no problems with connecting to any other router from the iphone and ipad. And I also have no problems with my PC's connecting to the Linksys router.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAironet 1142, two units, using WPA Radius to IAS on Windows 2003. I have a problem with Macs beginning to surface. One laptop, OSX 10.6, ran fine for a couple of weeks. A problem started occurring, while using the network, communication will stop. The Mac still shows connected on the laptop, and it shows associated in the interface on the Airnonet. However, there is no data transfer. I open a terminal and ping, there is no response. After sitting for awhile trying to ping, it will start again and communicate. After letting the laptop sit for awhile, the same things happens. The connection can be disconnected and reconnected on the laptop to restore connectivity. I did a round of things on the Mac to eliminate problems in configuration there. The same thing happens with both Aironets. Today, the when the problem occured, a user with an iPhone experienced the same thing. This was a first for that iPhone. Another Mac laptop, a newer model, did not experience the problem.
As I am writing this, a user with an iPad now just emailed that he is having trouble connecting. We just recently upgraded this customer to Aironets and disconnected a conglomerate of other products. The last one to be disconnected was a low cost Trendnet, that this iPad user was previously connecting to with no problem. The other device he would have been using in a different area was a Mac Airport WAP.
On the Aironets, I have CCX turned off, have set speed settings to default.
The issue is that one Dell laptop is experiencing slow or no internet connectivity at all using wireless. Sometimes 1 to 2 minutes to load a page, other times the dreaded 'not able to display webpage' message. It's fine using Ethernet. I have another laptop (same exact brand/model) and it has no problems. I also have a Macbook Pro and other Apple IOS devices (iPod/iPads) that are fine. Several Ethernet connected devices are fine as well. The laptop in question had no issues with my previoius Linksys devices, which are a BEFSR41/WAP55AG as well as a WRT-54GS v2. This one laptop was fine the first day or two on the EA4500 but something happened which is causing this issue. I had to add the WAP55AG back onto my network so my son is happy again, but my plan was to decommission the other devices. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an E2500 router. When I enter 192.168.1.1 as a web address I am asked for a User name and password. When I do not enter anything for user name and put “admin” in password the screen again asks me for the same two things and eventually goes to a 401 message.
When I enter admin in user name and my secure password to allow devises to connect to the network it lets me in. I thought the password to enter the system settings and the one to enter the network are usually separate. When I open the Cisco Connect program and go into the various menus there my “secure” password is written and visible for anyone who clicks it. Is this how it is supposed to work?Also, how do I occasionally change the password to enter into the network.
I have an RV220W running firmware 1.0.4.17. I have a couple of wireless laptop users that connect to the wireless without problems, but frequently cannot access the Internet. They can always access local network resources, but for some reason when laptops are first powered up or are idle for a prolonged period of time, Internet access is lost. Wired clients never experience this problem and always maintain local network and Internet connectivity.
To get the laptops to access the Internet over wireless, we have to run a TRACERT command from the command prompt to a public IP address, and then all Internet access is restored.
I have a new EA3500 router that's working great for a variety of devices* except a Windows7 laptop. 24 hours after establishing a connection, the laptop loses connectivity and it's very difficult to re-establish a connection. Usually I have to reboot the router, but 24 hours later the problem returns and Windows is unable to connect.
My router settings include DHCP client lease time set to 1440 minutes (24 hours), so I thought the problem might have something to do with DHCP lease renewal. To test this theory, on Saturday night I did ipconfig/release and ipconfig/renew and established connectivity from the laptop.
Sunday morning I spoke with Linksys support and changed several settings per their recommendation:Network mode mixed (I had it on N-only for some reason)Assigned different SSIDs to the 2.4GHz band and 5 GHz band2.4 GHz band channel is 20MHz only, using channel 95 GHz band channel is 40 MHz only, using channel 161I also power cycled the router. Everything worked fine until Sunday night, 24 hours after the release/renew, when I lost connectivity. I am not sure what to try next and whether the problem lies with the router or the laptop.
I am trying to troubleshoot my own router (Linksys) issues with using Lync and accessing some sharepoint sites that are internal to my company's network. I am connecting to the Internet using a Linksys router (WRT400N). When I have my work laptop using RESCUE GFE hardwired directly to the modem - and then connecting to VPN - I can connect to Lync and work normally. However, when I move connection via the router - I can no longer connect to Lync nor access some Sharepoints. I can access VPN fine but with Lync I get an error stating "Your Lync account does not allow access from outside your organization's network. Please connect to your organization's network and try again. However, I am connected via the VPN.this connection worked with a prior laptop using WinXP (I am no on Win7) and the connection thru router and using VPN worked with Communicator.I unfortunately had to reset my router - so I cannot recall if there were port settings established from the last time I had to set up the network. I didn't save the configuration; note to self - save configuration in future.

I put in the correct encryption key.. however as soon as i got connected, it just kept saying *Authenticating* for about 5-10 minutes then it disconnects me.. What i can do to stop this?The router itself was installed on a shared computer (I live with several roomates) and that particular computer got replaced.. does that matter to the router? the new one doesn't have the program installed.

Opened ports to my Linksys IP Cameras and can access via DynDNS address (using Modem addressort) from inside my network but not remotely. If I disable SPI Firewall it works from outside my network ... am I missing a step ... never had this problem with 54G and although I run software firewall on my computers I like the thought of added security of a firewall on my router.
View 2 Replies View RelatedBeen having random connection drops for the past few weeks where I would see the network connections to the router just drop either on a wireless connection or a wired cat 5 connection. As of tonight I cant connect to the router at all. If I disconnect and reconnect the power after 30 seconds it will come up for a short time but then I will lose it again. linksys as my router is out of warrenty. I'v searched around for similiar problems people have been having, but it seems like mostly involve just the internet connection. I still have the same firmware for the routers as the day I purchased it and the router sits on my desk in a ventilated area not overheating. I can do to further diagnose the problem, I have even tried resetting to factory defaults. I try to diagnose the problem or see if my router is just dead.

my pc connects just fine, i've powered cycle the router, tried renaming the router, opened all the required ports, reflashed the router to the current firmware.
Check to see if there is a firmware upgrade and there is. Well I updated it with the newest and only one out there. I did the upgrade, said sucessful and now it will just random reboot or something........ every few minutes the power light starts flashing....... then all the light go out, then power flashes again and it comes back up. I have tried many times to reflash it with that new firmware but no avail. I wish I had the old firmware back because it was working fine till I did this upgrade.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI cannot get internet Wake on LAN to work via my wrt400n . (It works fine on my LAN - so I know that the pc is configured properly. Further, I know that port forwarding is set up correctly, as other applications are using forwarded ports and are working correctly). The issue seems to be that the magic packets are being blocked by the router or they are received but the router doesn't know where to route them. I monitor the network and the never see the magic packet on my subnet. how do I set up a static ARP route on the wrt400n? I suspect that I may need to create a static ARP to resolve the issue.

We are not running any RADIUS or EAP at the moment and are starting with WPA2 w/ AES with a pre-shared key to begin piloting. The issue we are having is iOS based devices (iPhone/iPad) do not seem to want to connect. We just get a could not join wireless network messages. We have had success with several Windows based laptops, my MacBook connects, as well as several different Android devices.Looking at the logs on the WLC I see these entries which correspond to the MAC address of my iPhone.

I would like to configure it as an access point on my LAN, similar to the way my WAP55AG works.My research on the Internet and on these forums indicate that I have to disable DHCP on the router as well as use the LAN ports to connect it to my network.I am able to turn off DHCP, but assigning it a static IP address is challenging.I can set the IP address, but I am unable to set the subnet mask to 255.255.254.0 as I am only getting a set of SM in a drop down list whick are all 255.255.255.x

I have tried connecting directly to my modem and I have no problems at all.

I have been experiencing intermittent issues with download speeds of 1-3 MB and ironically upload speeds of almost 10MB. When everything is working fine I get download speeds of about 35MB and upload speeds of 5MB which is normal. This issue comes and goes. I had Comcast come out several times and we finally pinpointed it back to the WRT400N router. The Comcast modem is a Cisco DPC3008 model. I know there are known issues with the Cisco WRT400N but have had a hard time finding the information. Any known issues for this model and if so what are the fixes. BTW, the firmware is up to date.

I tried to force pair the iPhone by turning off Data Connection, which usually forces the WiFi, which it did, but then when I went to a webpage it wouldn't load even though wifi was showing full signals.I then booted up my lenovo laptop, and it connected to the internet and worked like a charm. Then my iPhone4s started working again. Why not now finally set up the wireless aspects of my HP B209 that I've never used, so I can print from my laptop wirelessly, which I've always wanted to do.So I was able to setup the printer after adding the MAC address of the printer to my belkin router by going to the IP address for the router and adding that specific address, I changed NOTHING ELSE.Internet on laptop not working now. It shows my wireless network with full bars in range, but when I go to connect it simply says it cannot connect, right away. I check my phone, wireless GONE again! I tried to force pair the phone, no dice. I "forget the network" on my phone, it still shows available, I connect put in my password and it immediately denies me, I tried un-plugging the router, restarting all computers, un-plugging router -and- restaring all computers, turning off the printer, repeating all previous steps, and finally I went and deleted the MAC address I added to the router, and all of the above did nothing to fix the solution.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm having a little trouble connecting a new computer to my wireless network. I have a WRT400N router and I'm connecting an older computer to it. The computer runs off Windows XP and the router itself is a WUS854G. We can get the adapter to say that it is connected to the network, but the router will not assign it a new IP address or even acknowledge that it is connected on the MAC client list. We manually forced a new IP, which allowed the computer to connect (though, again, the router did not show that it had been connected to.) but despite the connection being "Excellent" we could not access the internet. Furthermore when we tried to refresh the connection the IP address reverted to the original setting.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHaving a problem with port forwarding on their WRT400N? I'm forwarding one service (https) and this stops working if it's not accessed after a 10 days or so. The only way to get it to work again is to reboot the router. I’m running the “latest" firmware, which is an oxymoron considering it's been over 12 MONTHS since Linksys updated the code... Which is appalling considering this appears to be their flagship wireless N router.
