I have a WRT400N and approximately every 30-45 minutes the router will drop all connections (wired and wireless), all the lights will go out and then power light (far right light) will flash for a minute or so. I have tried connecting directly to my modem and I have no problems at all.

Check to see if there is a firmware upgrade and there is. Well I updated it with the newest and only one out there. I did the upgrade, said sucessful and now it will just random reboot or something........ every few minutes the power light starts flashing....... then all the light go out, then power flashes again and it comes back up. I have tried many times to reflash it with that new firmware but no avail. I wish I had the old firmware back because it was working fine till I did this upgrade.

This occurs irregardless of what the access policy is supposed to block. Even a blank access policy that allows access to everything and doesn't have any computers registered still blocks everything. How do I get it to stop completely blocking internet access?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've been fighting with my E2500 since I got it back in June with lag, dropped connections, etc. It's a bit intermittent but can hang around for hours at a time when it kicks in. Restarts but the issue always comes back. Most noticeable while gaming online or on a VOIP program such as Team Speak. Generally when it happens If I'm monitoring my Team Speak connection the incoming packet loss shoots up between 20-30%, starting to drop out every other word or so. No out going packet loss. The connection drops are random between computers (I have one mac and one pc in the house) where one will be fine and the other wont, or when the whole system will stay connected and drop all transfer. In the case of this last one it's not my ISP's connection as any streaming happening between one computer and an Apple TV device will also cease. I've also swapped back to my old router (an older model linksys) and all problems have stopped. Fully rebooted and reconfigured the router about 3 or 4 times and am on the latest version of firmware (1.0.003). It was much worse on 1.0.002 but still very noticeable on 003. Also no difference with a different wireless adapter. I've tried the chat technical support but all they did was take 45 minutes to tell me how to reboot my router after telling them I already had.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a refurbished E1000 wireless router from Amazon, and from the first day I've had recurring connection issues with it. Every half hour or so it will lose all of its connections (wireless and ethernet) and requires a hard reset. After resetting, all connections are good for a little while but then the problem occurs again. When plugged directly into my modem (Motorola SB6121), my internet access is completely fine.
The router has the latest firmware as far as I know (2.1.02 build 5 May 6, 2011), and I've tried to change several settings (MTU to 1400, Fragmentation Threshold to 2306, etc) but to no avail.
I have a brand new EA3500 (three months old) that has worked fine until recently. For some reason the wireless keeps dropping all connections every few minutes. I have checked the internet connection and that is not it as I can be hardwired to the router and the internet never drops. This happens to every device in the house (two Xbox, tablet, multiple PC's) at the same time, or randomly between. The devices are a mix of G and N so it is not associated with just one particular band. I have verified the wireless phone, microwave, or anything else that might interfere with the signal is running. One thing I have noticed is that when the wireless connection drops, the actual signal does not go away, I can still see it with a wifi analyzer. This is very frustrating as I just replaced a previous Linksys router with this one for the very same reason. Perhaps I should have bought some other manufacture.

Recently I changed it from a domain to a workgroup and now the internet connection drops after about 5 - 10 minutes.When I say "drops", I am referring to the browser can no longer display the webpage. The internet connection still shows to be "Excellent". I even tried pinging www.google.com and it can still ping the website but the browser just stops working. I have tried Firefox and IE.I updated the DNS to use the default primary DNS suffix. The only way to get the browser to re-establish a connection is by rebooting the laptop.[CODE]

I've opened a case via email and got the standard response, below.I have a Dlink DP-300U print server that works fine with my 'old' Belkin router, a F5D-7230-4 wireless unit. Nothing wrong with the Belkin, I'm just getting some service drops from my lousy AT&T ifitl 1.5mbps ISP and thought a new router might work. I actually read the manual (!!) before installing the DIR-655 and even followed it. The print server just isn't visible on the network. Everything else is, though. The 'suggestions' from Dlink tech support below are very useful. If I could 'see' the print server to verify its IP address, we wouldn't be having this conversation. I've rebooted everything, several times and even reinstalled my old Belkin router (which always sees the print server.) And Dlink, no...I'm not interested in paying you $32.95 for up to a half hour to maybe fix a problem caused by your new device. And dropping my call after almost 15 minutes on hold is not cool, either. With reference to the issue you are facing, we suggest you to kindly ensure that the IP address assigned to DP-300U print server is in the same network range as that of your DIR-655.
NOTE: The default IP address of DIR-655 is 192.168.0.1 Once it is done, try to ping the IP address of DP-300U using any of the wired / wireless client connected to DIR-655.note the DP-300U is not currently supported in North America. D-Link offers a premium fee based support line that will be able to support any issues you have with this product.
I'm trying to configure a L3 switch with some vlans. Despite we add a "ip default-gateway", that is displayed on the "show run", when we look "show ip route" there is no default gateway or gateway of last resource.On the show running we see the following:

One server connected to the vlan 32 is not able to ping the switch svi on vlan 36 (10.221.36.105).When we look the "show ip route" we see that the default gateway is not set.Ip routing is enabled on the switch. I tested the same configuration on my simultator and it works fine.I'm attaching the "show running", "show version", "show protocols" and "show ip routing".The ip routing is enabled on the switch!
I am using a pptp server running on windows 2008 server and I have configured my ASA 5520 to let the PPTP traffic to pass throught.
The solution works quite well but exactly every 120 minutes the connection drops and people have to reconnect. Is there any setting to change? In the PPTP server I haven't found any setting to change.
I am trying to troubleshoot my own router (Linksys) issues with using Lync and accessing some sharepoint sites that are internal to my company's network. I am connecting to the Internet using a Linksys router (WRT400N). When I have my work laptop using RESCUE GFE hardwired directly to the modem - and then connecting to VPN - I can connect to Lync and work normally. However, when I move connection via the router - I can no longer connect to Lync nor access some Sharepoints. I can access VPN fine but with Lync I get an error stating "Your Lync account does not allow access from outside your organization's network. Please connect to your organization's network and try again. However, I am connected via the VPN.this connection worked with a prior laptop using WinXP (I am no on Win7) and the connection thru router and using VPN worked with Communicator.I unfortunately had to reset my router - so I cannot recall if there were port settings established from the last time I had to set up the network. I didn't save the configuration; note to self - save configuration in future.

I put in the correct encryption key.. however as soon as i got connected, it just kept saying *Authenticating* for about 5-10 minutes then it disconnects me.. Opened ports to my Linksys IP Cameras and can access via DynDNS address (using Modem addressort) from inside my network but not remotely. If I disable SPI Firewall it works from outside my network ... am I missing a step ... never had this problem with 54G and although I run software firewall on my computers I like the thought of added security of a firewall on my router.

As of tonight I cant connect to the router at all. If I disconnect and reconnect the power after 30 seconds it will come up for a short time but then I will lose it again. linksys as my router is out of warrenty. I'v searched around for similiar problems people have been having, but it seems like mostly involve just the internet connection. I still have the same firmware for the routers as the day I purchased it and the router sits on my desk in a ventilated area not overheating. I can do to further diagnose the problem, I have even tried resetting to factory defaults. I try to diagnose the problem or see if my router is just dead.

Further, I know that port forwarding is set up correctly, as other applications are using forwarded ports and are working correctly). The issue seems to be that the magic packets are being blocked by the router or they are received but the router doesn't know where to route them. I monitor the network and the never see the magic packet on my subnet. how do I set up a static ARP route on the wrt400n? I suspect that I may need to create a static ARP to resolve the issue.

I have been experiencing intermittent issues with download speeds of 1-3 MB and ironically upload speeds of almost 10MB. When everything is working fine I get download speeds of about 35MB and upload speeds of 5MB which is normal. This issue comes and goes. I had Comcast come out several times and we finally pinpointed it back to the WRT400N router. The Comcast modem is a Cisco DPC3008 model. I know there are known issues with the Cisco WRT400N but have had a hard time finding the information. Any known issues for this model and if so what are the fixes. BTW, the firmware is up to date.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having a little trouble connecting a new computer to my wireless network. I have a WRT400N router and I'm connecting an older computer to it. The computer runs off Windows XP and the router itself is a WUS854G. We can get the adapter to say that it is connected to the network, but the router will not assign it a new IP address or even acknowledge that it is connected on the MAC client list. We manually forced a new IP, which allowed the computer to connect (though, again, the router did not show that it had been connected to.) but despite the connection being "Excellent" we could not access the internet. Furthermore when we tried to refresh the connection the IP address reverted to the original setting.

The only way to get it to work again is to reboot the router. I’m running the “latest" firmware, which is an oxymoron considering it's been over 12 MONTHS since Linksys updated the code... Which is appalling considering this appears to be their flagship wireless N router.

It is not device I own (believe me, I have racked my brain and confirmed) as it shows as an Acer pc. I cannot ping the IP address however. I have rebooted my router several times thinking maybe it's a former connected device but saved in memory but it keeps coming back. I am thinking possibly it is someone hi-jacking my Internet, but not sure. I am using WEP security but it shows a LAN connection which is strange for a wireless device. The only hard wired pc is my HP.

The WRT400N connected to my network via an Ethernet port in my kitchen. The cable ran down to a corner of my basement connecting to Verizon router that brings in our Internet, TV etc.
The Verizon router's poor location was a problem, and placing the WRT400N in the kitchen worked perfectly, providing excellent network access and Internet to wireless devices throughout my home. It worked fine for over a year.
Recently, we had a power outage which reset the WRT400N to factory settings. and I am having trouble getting it to work again. I set it up in the first place, but am now having difficulties. Clearly, I am no guru!
I tried to get it going again by: 1) plugging the WRT400N into a PC and giving it a new IP address that would not conflict with the Verizon router (both default to 192.168.1.1) 2) turning off DHCP, 3) renaming the router, 4) changing the router password, 5) setting up a WPA2 security key.
I then plugged the WRT400N back into the kitchen Ethernet port, but something is wrong. Wireless devices cannot find the WRT400N.
The good news is that I can "see" the WRT400N through any PC on the network via a browser and access setup, but the bad news is that devices cannot see or connect to the wireless signal.
When I go to "Status" it shows the IP address, subnet address and default gateway all at 0.0.0.0. On the SETUP page, it has the correct router address (192.168.1.9), and a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. Not sure if it is supposed to be this way...
I've had the WRT400N for about a year and a half now and just last night it stopped sending out data when connected to my cable modem. I've tried connecting the modem directly to my Mac and it works just fine (that's how I'm sending this message now). But when the modem is connected to the router, I get no data. It connects to both the 5 Ghz and 2.4 Ghz networks, but it refuses to send data through the pipe. I've tried power cycling both the modem and the router to no avail.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe had a power outage the other day, and now the wireless router cannot connect to the internet. Network Magic shows there is no connection from the device to the internet. I tried repairing it through Network Magic but it wasn't able to fix it.
My PC is directly connected to the wireless device by LAN cable. If I connect the PC directly to my DSL router I can connect to the internet, but not if I connect to the wireless router and from there to my DSL router. I tried resetting the wireless router to factory defaults and then going to [URL] and resetting up the router security settings. But Network Magic still shows the bad internet connection.
I then tried resetting the router to factory defaults again and installing it from scratch using the setup CD but that failed as well. I'm not at home right now so can't remember exactly at which point it was but I think it was either when the setup wizard tried to detect the device or install the device.This is the second time I've had to reset up my router due to power outage. Last time I was able to get it working by doing the first steps above.
This happens intermittantly. This results in most connections (but not all) being dropped. I will be unable to connect to web servers. My connection to videogame servers will drop. However, AIM will stay connected. These were done simultaneously. The same thing happens with my Cisco AE1200 and a D-Link 802.11g adapter I have. Disconnecting my adapter and reconnecting it solves the problem. I have tried doing a factory reset on the router and installing the latest firmware. It seems to happen more frequently when I am doing a lot of throughput (downloading a game on Steam, for instance) but other times it will happen when all I am doing is playing a game (like Tribes Ascend) which uses very little data. This is extremely frustrating. When I pay more than $150 for a piece of networking equipment, I expect it to last more than 3 years.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have had a problem with my WRT400N wireless Linksys router. Whenever my router restarts or if the DHCP lease expires, I'm unable to connect to internet. During this time I can access the router, but not the internet. Oddly something that seems to "fix" this is if I use my nintendo wii to access my wireless internet at that time, all computers on my network are able to access the internet. However this is annoying to do since this happens once a day from DHCP lease expiring. Using any other computer to attempt to access the internet at this time would be unable to get a connection until I do the "fix" with the Wii. WRT400N
