I've been running this configuration for years so the only thing that has changed is the router.The neworkd is up and all wireless clients can connect, but after some time, access to the mail server just 'freezes'. I say freezes as the nework icon (i'm using ubuntu' still show a connection. In addtion, there are not error in any of the logs. I just seems that the mail server and the router just stopped communication.
View 9 Replies View RelatedFor those of you foolish enough to upgrade to your firmware to 1.35NA, only to find that all your wireless clients are intermittently dropped randomly at the same time, read on.At the time of this simultaneous drop, the logs will tell you that the clients were "disconnected due to deauthorisation" or some such (precise wording eludes me, has not occurred for a while, which is a good thing!). The clients are then quickly "authorised", but the movie you were streaming to your living room has already been interrupted and all your family members have gone for an unexpected toilet / snack break. Needless to say, the movie is ruined. Playing/hosting online games is an exercise in slowly pulling out all your remaining hair folicles. A random 20s delay when surfing the web is also fun. The list goes on.
A quick glance at the forum suggests this is a common problem, with the only reproducible solution to downgrade your firmware, perhaps all the way to 1.21.Get this though, you cannot downgrade 1.35NA by any means known to us internet-using, neanderthal-descendant primates (yes, your ancestor interbred with them). All workarounds to downgrade the firmware currently do not work for the new firmware.Why this is not suggested more often on these forums, I cannot fathom. There are a few threads that end like this though: "Oh, switched to WPS and the problem went away.Of course, if your wireless clients do not support WPS, then, um...facepalm yourself again. Only one of them has to though, the rest non-WPS clients you can copy paste the extremely long password to.Not so important settings: (changing these will do nothing to alleviate the drops)
Now that I have provided you with the meaning to life, the universe, and everything (42, I mean WPS), enjoy "normal" wireless behaviour again. OMG, I can actually surf the internet, torrent, play games, stream movies again.Some far more knowledgeable person might speculate as to the reason why this is so...actually, I will start the useless speculation. There must have been a security issue, that was remedied with the more recent 1.3xx firmwares. At the same time, constant authorisation checks were added. The deauthorisation/ authorisation cycle is snappy and unnoticeable with WPS, yet horrible without WPS.
I have a WRT110 router (firmware v. 1.0.04) and a PC and an XBox 360 connected to it (both via cable). Every 15-20 minutes the connection is dropped for appr. 1-2 minutes. I tried modifying several router settings, but the connections are still being dropped

I have tried connecting directly to my modem and I have no problems at all.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've been fighting with my E2500 since I got it back in June with lag, dropped connections, etc. It's a bit intermittent but can hang around for hours at a time when it kicks in. Restarts but the issue always comes back. Most noticeable while gaming online or on a VOIP program such as Team Speak. Generally when it happens If I'm monitoring my Team Speak connection the incoming packet loss shoots up between 20-30%, starting to drop out every other word or so. No out going packet loss. The connection drops are random between computers (I have one mac and one pc in the house) where one will be fine and the other wont, or when the whole system will stay connected and drop all transfer. In the case of this last one it's not my ISP's connection as any streaming happening between one computer and an Apple TV device will also cease. I've also swapped back to my old router (an older model linksys) and all problems have stopped. Fully rebooted and reconfigured the router about 3 or 4 times and am on the latest version of firmware (1.0.003). It was much worse on 1.0.002 but still very noticeable on 003. Also no difference with a different wireless adapter. I've tried the chat technical support but all they did was take 45 minutes to tell me how to reboot my router after telling them I already had.

Windows Messenger continually connects and disconnects. This behavior is permanent I only have problems with Messengers (all releases), web page access is correct. I check bandwith saturation and It's ok, I use less than 50% of each DSL. I configured the correct size of MTU for each DSL and the problem continues.Is there any way to set priority to this service? Is there any way to check if the "load balance mode" affect this kind of connections?
My DIR-655 drops WiFi connections every few days. All wired connections are fine. Rebooting the router fixes the problem at that time. Cable modem works perfectly fine. [code]
I'm sure I'm missing some devices, but that should give you the general mix of wired/wireless devices that I use. I'm single with visits from my son every other weekend, so network traffic is not that high at my house. I've had this router for a couple years now and didn't use to have this problem. I've been updating the firmware, and I suspect this problem happened after on one those updates. I just don't know which one. Also, I didn't use to have any neighbors with Wireless Routers (that I could detect), but recently there have been 2 who have gotten them. I was hoping this was a problem that D-Link was aware of, but that does not seem to be the case. I would hate to have to go out and buy a new router (not D-Link).
I have some remote locations that connect to my ASA 5510 cluster (Aktive/Passive) using the Cisco VPN Client, from which the connection gets disconnected at random intervals (could be 5 minutes, but sometimes after 15 minutes). However, some other remote locations do not have this problem. All locations have the same VPN client configuration (distrubited by pcf file).
I already disabled isakmp keepalive on the ASA but this did not work. If I read it correctly, the Cisco vpn client logging shows that the ASA initiates the ending of the connection.

I am using Windows 7 Home premium SP1 (x86). I can connect fine and after a (seemingly random) amount of time the connection will drop (at least according to windows). I can also easily reconnect without a problem, but it will not pick back up the connection automatically, which is a problem because I use programs that need to access the internet and Often leave large files to download while I'm sleeping or not home. So If I'm not sitting at my computer to manually reconnect, then whatever i'm trying to accomplish doesn't get done.I'm using the ALFA AWUS036H USB wifi adapter. I had previously been running windows XP and this same thing would happen (though, much less often) but when it happened in XP it would automatically reconnect in a few seconds. I downloaded the drivers from ALFA's website incase the ones on disk were not up to date, and I tried both of them (they have a "normal" and "power control driver" option) and the problem remains. Also, I've never used an external wifi adapter before so I'm not sure if its supposed to work this way, but there are 2 "signal strength meters" in the system tray the standard windows one that you can click on and see available networks or go to windows "network and sharing center" and then there is the ALFA one that you can click on and it takes you to the ALFA wireless LAN utility, where you can also get a list of available networks.According to windows there is a problem with the connection, however according to the ALFA wireless LAN utility, the connection is fine (green bars means good connection, red bars means no connection)When clicking on the Windows "signal strength indicator" in the system tray, it shows 1 of 2 different problems (notice the differences that I've highlighted with red boxes). No matter which one happens I can NOT access the internet. Despite the "problems" shown above, the ALFA wireless LAN utility shows that its still connected (while windows is showing a connection problem)To reconnect I switch to the "profile" tab (which is just a list of neworks that i've previously connected to) and double click on the network. In this case it will be Enotria Public.... the same one that (according to the ALFA wireless LAN utility) I'm already connected too After clicking on the network, the ALFA wireless LAN utility "signal indicator" in the system tray will briefly turn red (signaling NO connection) while it "reconnects". Then it will turn back to green, and Windows network manager/signal indicator (whatever you call it) will proceed to reconnect as well. After this happens, all is good and I'm reconnected and can access the internet.
As you can see in pics above the ALFA wireless LAN utility is always connected, and it never drops the connection but even so, the internet will not work when Windows drops the connection. However, When reconnecting I can access the internet BEFORE Windows reconnects. (I still have to reconnect as described above, but after I do so I can access the internet before windows FINISHES reconnecting) The tab shown in this picture was a web page that I loaded BEFORE Windows ever reconnected, and it is a page that I have NEVER viewed before, so its not just loading it from cache.
I have cisco WS-C2960S-48FPS-L stacked. Weekly twice, my PoE connections are dropped and when the device is restarted, everything starts working normal. This issue happens weekly once or twice. [code] I can see that there is a bug id : CSCtg86211 and no work around for it. Any updates received from Cisco TAC ?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have two XPS 15 (L502x) laptops (purchased in March '12) with Intel Wifi link 1000 BGN adapters. On a regular basis both laptops lose their connection to the internet (via FIOS), at the same time. I'm convinced that is not FIOS or my router. I have a Dell STUDIO 8100, an iPhone and iPad, and these wireless devices do not lose their connections. Sometimes I'm able to resolve the issue by using "troubleshooting" via the adapter, often restarting the laptop and/or the router is the only way to resolve my problem. I've run the Dell Support software, it indicates no drivers are available for update, so I assume I'm current.I've read about turning off 802.11n, I've read about problems w/ power management and conflicts with wireless.

I have done a "sho vpn-sessiondb detail svc" and I can see the dropped packets of the individual users, but cannot see why the packets are still dropping.how I can correct this and restore speeds?
I'm trying to configure a L3 switch with some vlans. Despite we add a "ip default-gateway", that is displayed on the "show run", when we look "show ip route" there is no default gateway or gateway of last resource.On the show running we see the following:

I have frequent intermittent 105 errors DNS Server not found. I run a Laptop, Win7 home edition 64 bit, Telstra TEHS_0c280c 3G usb Modem, I live 600 metres from Repeater and have consistant full WiFi strength. I have had this error using both Google Chrome and Internet Explorer.
When this error locks me out of the net, it is very frustrating as I have to reboot the laptop and reset the WiFi modem several times before the problem comes good. Sometimes this can take up to a full day as I can get the Net back and then have the 105 error again, and other days I will not see it at all.
Remedies I have already tried to no avail :- CCleaner to both remove cookies and clean and repair registry probs. And Defragging.
I turned on my PC this morning and I found I could not connect to the Internet. I have a few other computers and devices in the house that are ALL connecting to the Internet fine. I've tried basic things like unplugging /re-plugging the Ethernet cable, resetting router, attempting to set up a new network, system restore, running norton anti-virus to detect any potential problems etc all of which haven't resolved the issue.
I also checked my device manager to see if my drivers were up to date and I found that under 'Other Devices' my Network Controller stated that the drivers were not installed. I'm not sure if this is the issue (considering my Internet was working absolutely fine less than 24hrs beforehand) but I can't search the Internet to automatically find the driver for obvious reasons.
I found a few people suggesting to use the hardware id to find the appropriate driver, any direct link to the driver. My network controller hardware id is below:

I'm currently using my Acer Aspire x1700 desktop computer running Windows 8. It's connected to my router via Ethernet and gets about 25mb/sec. The problem is, my router can only broadcast the signal to my two front rooms and all of the rooms of the level it's on (Living Room, Sun Room, & Kitchen). All of my devices get full signal in these rooms. The holidays are coming up, so people are going to start bringing cellphones, tablets, gaming devices, etc into my house. My room is about 24 ft away from it (My 2nd floor is 8.5 ft above the 1st). In my room, my laptop, a Dell Inspriron running Windows 7, got about 13mb/sec. But as soon as I walk into the next room, which is about 8 ft away, the signal becomes very spotty on my iPod touch/iPad. My laptop can pick up about 2 bars, and so can my Grandma's HP. If I move another 2 feet into my mom's room my iPod Touch/iPad gets one bar, my laptop still gets two, but it's very slow and spotty. My iPod touch/iPad gets a kind of weak signal in my room.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've bought a "WAG160N v1.0 Annex A" almost 2 years ago. I never used it's wireless feature untill we moved our house. Now it's like 4 month I'm using its wifi feature and I've got to admit I'm really frustrated by its functionality!
For months the modem just dropped wireless connection constantly in various time periods. Somtimes it went like 2 days without any problem but some other times I had to change channel every 15 minutes for it to get back working. And yes it didn't get fix until I changed the channel, otherwise clients had to wait several hours for a 50/50 chance of reconnection. Now It's two days the changing channel trick no longer works. I tried all channels and even put my notebook next to the modem but no luck. The notebook sometimes connnects to the access point but disconnects after a few seconds. Somtimes it doesnt even detect the SSID of my WAG160N modem. Some friends suggested that the wireless hardware of my modem is broken and no longer works but I'm eager to know if it is broken why is it still broadcasting and sending signal.
I've tried everything from upgrading and downgrading firmware to turning on and off the modem several times and changes modem position. And even tried the G-only 20MHz mode.We are at a very crowdy place. Using inSSIDer I could pick about 15 other access points. I am running a home network with a wired desktop connected via ethernet, two laptops, one desktop and three ipods connected wirelessly to the router.The problem is that at seemingly random times during the day the ability to connect to the internet is lost on all devices (wired or no). I also often lose the ability to connect to the router's homepage (settings) and upon inspection have found that when I ping the router I get time-outs (or sometimes destination host unreachable). This occurs on both wired and wireless at the same time and usually lasts anywhere from 10seconds to 10minutes at a time. I have reset the router numerous times including a reset via the web browser, unplugging the router and reconnecting and also have done a factory reset to attempt to solve the problem - all to no avail. As I am writing this I am using a different older router that so far (as of an hour) has not had the same issues.I should also mention that this happens regardless of which devices are currently on the network. I have had this problem with the wired-connection by itself and with my wireless laptop by itself.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Compaq with XP wired on a Network with a Belkin N600 Router.There are 5 computers on the Network, (4 wired, one wireless) and this is the only computer that I have problems with connectivity. It connects to the Belkin through 2 switches.Typically when I turn the system on it connects, downloads mail, etc. After a short period of time there is no connectivity to the network for printing nor the internet.I may get connectivity randomly again after a while, but you never know if or when you will get connectivity again for sure. I am using Explorer.I had loaded some Belkin software with no luck so I uninstalled it. The other computers have no special software for the router.

the common fault seems to be DynamicDnsCleanup causing the trouble.(causes routing table to change, knocking down the VPN....) Is this a function occurring in the router? I can't find search results showing so.
Router is running with IOS 12.4(24T) and we are having problems like file download stalls, some emails not being send or received. CBAC is enabled on this router with default values. MTU is also the default value. This problem has started all of a sudden. seeing lot of errors in the logs as below:

I recently updated the firmware in my WRT160N V3.Ever since, the wireless signal is intermittent.It worked all day yesterday, and now today it doesn't connect at all.I can't remember exactly the settings I used to have before updating the firmware, should have written them down.From looking at articles on this site, I have the following settings:

I have a WRT120N router set up with WPA2 security and set to channel 11. Everything is connected via the router (one wired computer, up to a max of 5 laptops but just 2-3 on a regular basis, a wired xbox360, wireless wii and a few cell phones occasionally connect wirelessly). Everything has been working great, been getting at or very close to the 6mbps we are supposed to be getting...until the past 2 weeks. Suddenly the connection drops repeatedly throughout the night. It either shows local only or just "limited connectivity". Normally when this happens my laptop will pick the signal back up when things are normal but I am actually having to disconnect and reconnect for it to work again. It happens again in about 30 min to an hour after that. Also, our connection speeds are showing at .5 - 1.5 instead of 6. I plugged the cable modem (the 660 series sent out by sprint/embarq/century link (or whatever name they are going by today lol) into the computer directly and got 5.7mbps. I have tried power cycles of both pieces of equipment but that doesnt work.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy router has been dropping the internet connection for years. The ethernet connection to the desktop works fine all the time. The problem is only with the wireless connection. About every 1/2 hour or so the router will drop the wireless connection and neither or my 2 laptops can find the network. Unplugging the router and replugging it in solves the problem temporarily, until it drops it again. I updated the firmware to 1.0.4 and that yielded no changes.
Router: WRT54G2 v.1 Modem: Siemens Speedster 4100 (part #060-D141-A12) My two laptops running wirelessly are Macs. The desktop is PC running Windows Vista.
We have Cisco router 2800 router which is directly connected to ASA 5510, till now there was no issue every thing was working fine, but from past 2 day's we are facing a problem, when we try to ping to any outside public IP their is a intermittent packet loss & same issue to the remote office through IPSec tunnel, We are able to reach our ISP router from outside whithout any issue & there is no packet Loss, if we try to reach the ASA their is a intermittent packet loss.

This router is connected to a T1 connection and its requesting a DHCP lease every couple minutes as well. We originally had two WAN connections, and we have disabled the second one because someone thought it was that, but obviously it has to do with the internal network. This is a dual WAN router.
