I am trying to set up an access policy on my WRT400N. Whenever an access policy is enabled, all internet acess is completely blocked. This occurs irregardless of what the access policy is supposed to block. Even a blank access policy that allows access to everything and doesn't have any computers registered still blocks everything. How do I get it to stop completely blocking internet access?
View 9 RepliesI have a WRT400N and approximately every 30-45 minutes the router will drop all connections (wired and wireless), all the lights will go out and then power light (far right light) will flash for a minute or so. I have tried connecting directly to my modem and I have no problems at all.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am trying to troubleshoot my own router (Linksys) issues with using Lync and accessing some sharepoint sites that are internal to my company's network. I am connecting to the Internet using a Linksys router (WRT400N). When I have my work laptop using RESCUE GFE hardwired directly to the modem - and then connecting to VPN - I can connect to Lync and work normally. However, when I move connection via the router - I can no longer connect to Lync nor access some Sharepoints. I can access VPN fine but with Lync I get an error stating "Your Lync account does not allow access from outside your organization's network. Please connect to your organization's network and try again. However, I am connected via the VPN.this connection worked with a prior laptop using WinXP (I am no on Win7) and the connection thru router and using VPN worked with Communicator.I unfortunately had to reset my router - so I cannot recall if there were port settings established from the last time I had to set up the network. I didn't save the configuration; note to self - save configuration in future.

Opened ports to my Linksys IP Cameras and can access via DynDNS address (using Modem addressort) from inside my network but not remotely. If I disable SPI Firewall it works from outside my network ... am I missing a step ... never had this problem with 54G and although I run software firewall on my computers I like the thought of added security of a firewall on my router.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like to configure it as an access point on my LAN, similar to the way my WAP55AG works.My research on the Internet and on these forums indicate that I have to disable DHCP on the router as well as use the LAN ports to connect it to my network.I am able to turn off DHCP, but assigning it a static IP address is challenging.I can set the IP address, but I am unable to set the subnet mask to 255.255.254.0 as I am only getting a set of SM in a drop down list whick are all 255.255.255.x
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm having a little trouble connecting a new computer to my wireless network. I have a WRT400N router and I'm connecting an older computer to it. The computer runs off Windows XP and the router itself is a WUS854G. We can get the adapter to say that it is connected to the network, but the router will not assign it a new IP address or even acknowledge that it is connected on the MAC client list. We manually forced a new IP, which allowed the computer to connect (though, again, the router did not show that it had been connected to.) but despite the connection being "Excellent" we could not access the internet. Furthermore when we tried to refresh the connection the IP address reverted to the original setting.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an existing wireless network using a Cisco/Linksys WRT400N wireless router (which in turn is connected to a cable internet provider). I need to extend my wireless coverage and so purchased a Cisco/Linksys E1000 to act as an additional access point. Purchased from BB, the local 'geek squad' rep instructed me to follow the users guide for the set up. After login into the admin service on my E1000, I followed the 'Advanced Routing' instructions and disabled the 'NAT' option and subsequently enabled the 'Dynamic Routing (RIP)' option. Everything worked like a charm to this point, but now I'm stuck. What steps do I need to follow to allow clients to log onto my wirelss network via the E1000 (secondary access point)? I've established WEP security keys on the WRT400N (primary access point) and want to use the same network security parameters on the E1000.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an RV110W running firmware version 1.0.1.6 and I am trying to figure out how to enable website blocking in the Internet Access Policy screen. The Add Row button is grayed out in that section, as are the associated checkboxes.
Is there something else one needs to do to enable this feature?
If I set a name etc. at the top, and click save, it tells me "You must at least set a website blocking or PCs rule," so it is not the case that one has to save some information before continuing!
What happen to my router linksys e1200, after i update the firmware to the latest version "Access Restrictions" is change to "Access Policy". how can i revert it back to "Access Restrictions" do i need to downgrade the firmware?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI cannot connect to my company’s VPN after installing the current firmware (FW_E4200_1.0.02.013_US_20110524) on my E4200 router. Version 1.0.01 was on the router when I received it, and it worked without issues. As soon as I upgraded version 02, I could not initialize a VPN connection. When I try to start a VPN session, I get a "page not found" error when attempting to initiate SSL VPN service using a Microsoft Forefront Unified Access Gateway. VPN pass through is enabled for all protocols in the e4200’s setup. As soon as I revert to firmware 01, everything works fine again.
I did a fresh download and re-flashed the 02 firmware just to make sure that it wasn’t an issue with a bad download or a faulty flash. The problem is consistent and repeatable. I have upgraded and downgraded twice, and the results are exactly the same. My VPN connection works with firmware 01, and it fails with version 02. There is a something different in the 02 firmware that is blocking VPN access.
Internet policy access on my Linksys E3000. I am trying to block facebook.com to a particular ip address in my office. This what I did. Logged in to control panel clicked on access restriction. Clicked on add. Gave it a name. Clicked the applies to drop down box and selected by ip address. Unchecked the block all internet access. Typed facebook down in the window below. Saved.Not blocking access.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've been using my WRT310Nv2 Cisco wireless Gigabit N router for 2 weeks now, and sometimes, it's blocking access to Facebook.comI am not aware if it does the same thing with other websites, but my guess is that if I fix this one, I'll fix them all. So here I go, I click on my Facebook icon in my bookmarks and all goes well. Then, a while after, Facebook doesn't respond anymore and I'm send to a page that says "this is probably not the webpage you are looking for!" and it goes on about someone probably trying to hack my Internet and so on. But it's impossible: my network is under a solid WPA/WPA 2 security access. So I try again and click on the FB icon, and it shows me this:

We have a home use WRT160N router linked to a PC desktop and two wireless laptops, Yesterday bought a new I-Phone, but could not link to my network (entered the security key many times). I accidentally connected to computer fix it firm that linked to my PC and wanted a large sum to fix the problem which he said was due to large number of temp?? internet files and once removed he would change the IP address of the desktop computer? Is this diagnosis logical and can I do it on my own. The router is definetely working - both laptops access the internet and I was recently able to hook up a Samsung Blu-Ray player using the same security code I used for the I-Phone.

When I purchased it, it was loaded with 2.0.02 firmware but I upgraded the firmware to 2.0.04.My problem is that I'm trying to setup MAC address-based restrictions thru the manual/web-based setup and when I click on the "Access Restrictions" tab, I only have simple "Parental Controls" and not the advanced "Internet Access Policy".Is it possible that I have a mislabeled V1 device? If that is the case, how is it that I was able to upgrade the firmware using firmware from the V2 downloads section.
Do V! and V2 units use the same firmware but more importantly, how do I upgrade the built-in software so that I have the advanced "Internet Access Policy" controls?
My WRT120N router doesn't have Internet Access Policy when I access it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm just about to trade-in an E4200v2 for a E4200v1, primarily to regain the "Internet Access Policy" capability.
Just wanted to do a reality check with those of you who tried/use IAP... does it work basically as advertised?
I would be using IAP to specify MAC addr's of devices, blocking them from certain URL's and limiting their hours of Internet access.
And I plan to have Linksys's DHCP Server turned OFF, since my Windows Server handles DHCP on my network.
Should I expect all of this to work OK? No major reliability problems with IAP?
On E4200 Firmware Version: 1.0.03, I managed to successfully set up "Internet Access Policy" (not the "Parental Controls") to set up the times when internet access is disabled for various IPs on my network.
But I could't setup a policy to block facebook.com. What I am doing wrong? See the attached screen shot. I did click the "Edit List" and apply this polity to the IP Address Range 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.254.
I've reset my router, reinstalled Cisco Connect and didn't configure anything on parental controls.However, when I navigate to the "Access Policy" menu all I see is parental controls. I don't see any of the more sophisticated filtering menus like "access blocking policy", etc. I've attached a screenshot.

I put in the correct encryption key.. however as soon as i got connected, it just kept saying *Authenticating* for about 5-10 minutes then it disconnects me.. What i can do to stop this?The router itself was installed on a shared computer (I live with several roomates) and that particular computer got replaced.. does that matter to the router? the new one doesn't have the program installed.
View 1 Replies View RelatedBeen having random connection drops for the past few weeks where I would see the network connections to the router just drop either on a wireless connection or a wired cat 5 connection. As of tonight I cant connect to the router at all. If I disconnect and reconnect the power after 30 seconds it will come up for a short time but then I will lose it again. linksys as my router is out of warrenty. I'v searched around for similiar problems people have been having, but it seems like mostly involve just the internet connection. I still have the same firmware for the routers as the day I purchased it and the router sits on my desk in a ventilated area not overheating. I can do to further diagnose the problem, I have even tried resetting to factory defaults. I try to diagnose the problem or see if my router is just dead.

my pc connects just fine, i've powered cycle the router, tried renaming the router, opened all the required ports, reflashed the router to the current firmware.
Check to see if there is a firmware upgrade and there is. Well I updated it with the newest and only one out there. I did the upgrade, said sucessful and now it will just random reboot or something........ every few minutes the power light starts flashing....... then all the light go out, then power flashes again and it comes back up. I have tried many times to reflash it with that new firmware but no avail. I wish I had the old firmware back because it was working fine till I did this upgrade.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI cannot get internet Wake on LAN to work via my wrt400n . (It works fine on my LAN - so I know that the pc is configured properly. Further, I know that port forwarding is set up correctly, as other applications are using forwarded ports and are working correctly). The issue seems to be that the magic packets are being blocked by the router or they are received but the router doesn't know where to route them. I monitor the network and the never see the magic packet on my subnet. how do I set up a static ARP route on the wrt400n? I suspect that I may need to create a static ARP to resolve the issue.

I have been experiencing intermittent issues with download speeds of 1-3 MB and ironically upload speeds of almost 10MB. When everything is working fine I get download speeds of about 35MB and upload speeds of 5MB which is normal. This issue comes and goes. I had Comcast come out several times and we finally pinpointed it back to the WRT400N router. The Comcast modem is a Cisco DPC3008 model. I know there are known issues with the Cisco WRT400N but have had a hard time finding the information. Any known issues for this model and if so what are the fixes. BTW, the firmware is up to date.

View 4 Replies View RelatedHaving a problem with port forwarding on their WRT400N? I'm forwarding one service (https) and this stops working if it's not accessed after a 10 days or so. The only way to get it to work again is to reboot the router. I’m running the “latest" firmware, which is an oxymoron considering it's been over 12 MONTHS since Linksys updated the code... Which is appalling considering this appears to be their flagship wireless N router.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have the WRT400N router with the latest firmware. Recently I have noticed a device in my DHCP that I do not recognize. It is not device I own (believe me, I have racked my brain and confirmed) as it shows as an Acer pc. I cannot ping the IP address however. I have rebooted my router several times thinking maybe it's a former connected device but saved in memory but it keeps coming back. I am thinking possibly it is someone hi-jacking my Internet, but not sure. I am using WEP security but it shows a LAN connection which is strange for a wireless device. The only hard wired pc is my HP.
