On E4200 Firmware Version: 1.0.03, I managed to successfully set up "Internet Access Policy" (not the "Parental Controls") to set up the times when internet access is disabled for various IPs on my network.
But I could't setup a policy to block facebook.com. What I am doing wrong? See the attached screen shot. I did click the "Edit List" and apply this polity to the IP Address Range 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.254.
I want to block sites like facebook during my workday but allow the rest of the internet.
The attached settings block facebook as desired during the filter times but after 6:30pm the filter expires and the entire internet is blocked (not just facebook). All of my browsers act as if they are hanging and won't load pages until I disable the filter.
I've also tried creating two different filters (one at a time). The first allowed full internet access all the time and the second allowed access the opposite times of the work filter. But to no avail.
I have configured my e4200 to block traffic at certian times uses both the Parental Controls and the Intenet Access Polices. Neither one seems to work though. [code] I have the same MAC addresses specified in each rule. Initally I had only the first two rules. Those didn't work, so I added rule 3 and 4 (they do the same thing as rules 1 and 2 but from the opposite direction). There are no compliaints, but they don't stop any traffic.
I started with the Parental Controls, they didn't work either. The page in there that lets you pick which machines you want to block seemed next to worthless. I have about four rows listed as "Network Device." REALLY LAME! As the MAC addresses are accesible and these weren't working I went to the IAP.
I setup E4200 good. But, in Access Restrictions, there is no policy to choose from. Just Parental controls only.restore the Internet Access Policy like the good old routers?
How is it possible to block facebook (or other sites) on WRT610N router, given that I have already set up Internet Access restrictions based on day/hour ?
I am attempting to block Facebook on a WRT160N firmware v3.0.00. I have a successful policy that blocks edit.com for instance and attempted to add url... I don't want to add keyword blocking as multiple news articles are in regards to Facebook. We simply do not want the Facebook website allowed. I tested the other policies on a network-wide setting, applying it to all IPs successfully, added Facebook to them and it goes right around the block. My guess is that Facebook is most likely designed to make it purposely difficult to block.
I went through the recent articles in search, but they primarily dealt with incorrect application of the policy (spec'ing MAC, or IPs), which isn't the case here. Eventually I will apply the policies to specific Macs, but I want them to work first.
We have an RVS-4000 router that we use as an Internet gateway on our school network. I am trying to set up an Internet Access Policy to block some specific websites by URL using a domain name. I set up the policy, and added a PC to the list using the mac address, and the blocking did not work. I went back to the list and added the IP address of the same PC, the policy still did not work to block the domain. I rebooted the router, cleared the Internet Temporary files and history on the PC, and the policy still does not work. It acts like it is going to block access to the website because it takes a long time, but it will eventually connect.
Internet policy access on my Linksys E3000. I am trying to block facebook.com to a particular ip address in my office. This what I did. Logged in to control panel clicked on access restriction. Clicked on add. Gave it a name. Clicked the applies to drop down box and selected by ip address. Unchecked the block all internet access. Typed facebook down in the window below. Saved. Not blocking access.
The Internet Access Policy feature of my WRT610N router doesn't appear to work, at all, zip, nothing, nada. I have setup the feature todeny access to one of my laptops for everyday 24 hours a day, but it can still use the net...
I just bought a factory refurbished E1200. The label on the bottom says it is a Version 2 model. When I purchased it, it was loaded with 2.0.02 firmware but I upgraded the firmware to 2.0.04.My problem is that I'm trying to setup MAC address-based restrictions thru the manual/web-based setup and when I click on the "Access Restrictions" tab, I only have simple "Parental Controls" and not the advanced "Internet Access Policy".Is it possible that I have a mislabeled V1 device? If that is the case, how is it that I was able to upgrade the firmware using firmware from the V2 downloads section.
Do V! and V2 units use the same firmware but more importantly, how do I upgrade the built-in software so that I have the advanced "Internet Access Policy" controls?
I have WRT150N, with firmware version 1.01.9 and I can not get the internet access policy to work. Here are my settings: PC list is configured through IP range as follows:Even if I deny internet access completely, I can still access the internet.
why i can't add a new policy. I can't fillin a policyname or change the status from disable to enable. I have model V2 with firmware v2.0.03 build 007Jul 2, 2009
E2000 about a years old.One of the rule is to block internet access from 1am to 4am for certain internal IPs.Working fine until a week ago. Once the time kick in, the E2000 will not route any internet access for any internal IP until the unit is power off and power on reboot. If that rule is disabled. then the E2000 will route all days and nights with no problem.Updated firmware to 1.0.0.4 already.I replaced the WRT45 because of the same problem a year ago. Now just about a year, this E2000 keeps blocking all traffic.
All of my clients are accessing internet through Netgear wireless router. From the router's "Block Sites" option, I've inserted all of the IP address of facebook & this was working fine.
i want to block all internet access on all my computers from the time range of 9 PM to 8 PM. Yes, that gives 1 hour of internet access per day. However, it seems that there are certain rules of the router that won't let me do this. It seems I can't make 2 different policies for PC's within the same IP range (192.168.1.0 to 192.168.1.254) , it gives me the error: "The values you entered are invalid. Please try again."every time I try to do so. And when I try to give the time range from 9 PM to 8 PM it gives an error stating that the end time must be bigger than start time. I am using the WRT54GL with firmware v4.30.7.
Why does my E1200 forget my Parental Control Password? This happens almost weekly and I have to use the "forgot password" option. It asks my security question, I answer it and set the new password to the same password it keeps forgetting. Why does this happen? Also, is there anyway to have total 24hr control on the Block Internet Access?
I'm trying to block two URL's over the entire network via my E4200. I'm having a heck of a time doing this, I loginto my router via the browser (the web setup) (because I think Cisco Connect on the Mac is about the worst software ever written.) And I go to the Access Restrictions page. There I understand I'll have to use the Internet Access Policy pane to make some more advanced settings than the Parental Control.
I enter a name for my rule, so far so good. Enable it. Go to the applied PC page. Open the page to enter MAC adresses and IP's. I go to the IP Address Range field and entere in the box numbered 01; 192.168.2.2 to 192.168.2.51 which in my case is the enitre network. Save the setttings and close that window.
I don't set Access Restriction to deny becasue that seems to block the entire network.
So I go the the Website Blocking by URL Address option and enter the URL I want to block.
I don't do anything wiht the the Blocked Applications since I don't want to block a specific service or application. So I click Save Settings.
And yet when I go to the URL I want to block it doesn't work! [URL]
I have my main router, a E4200v2 which I use as a router and it provides wireless signal throughout my house, however reception is not as strong on the upper floor and there is a slight dead spot, so I purchased an E4200 for the uppermost floor.I set the E4200 to bridge mode so it will act solely as an AP.However connecting the two routers LAN to LAN and the AP does not access the internet.Setting a static IP for the router, instead of acquiring one via DHCP causes me to not be able to access the admin page on the AP.
Connecting WAN on the E4200 to the LAN on the v2 does not work either. My goal here is to have my main router on 192.168.1.1 and the AP on 192.168.1.2 where I can access the admin settings for both routers in case I need to make changes.
I have a Linksys E4200 router with firmware version 1.0.02. I am using a Macbook Pro. I can connect to a VPN server with the default VPN client software, but it kills my internet connection and disables connecting to SMB
I've been using my WRT310Nv2 Cisco wireless Gigabit N router for 2 weeks now, and sometimes, it's blocking access to Facebook.comI am not aware if it does the same thing with other websites, but my guess is that if I fix this one, I'll fix them all. So here I go, I click on my Facebook icon in my bookmarks and all goes well. Then, a while after, Facebook doesn't respond anymore and I'm send to a page that says "this is probably not the webpage you are looking for!" and it goes on about someone probably trying to hack my Internet and so on. But it's impossible: my network is under a solid WPA/WPA 2 security access. So I try again and click on the FB icon, and it shows me this:
"Invalid URL The requested URL "/", is invalid. Reference #9.c2c28f18.1352263449.304a8c9"
I have an E4200, and upgraded to Connect Cloud. It was buggy, and so I downgraded to the firmware before that. I have all the computers working fine in the house except my desktop. it connects fine to the network, can see the other computers on the network, can even do a windows update. But when I go to use google chrome or internet explorer it just wont access the internet. It doesn't seem to work either if it is a wired connection, or a wireless connection It was fine before the upgrade and subsequent downgrade. It was on this desktop that i installed and uninstalled thew Connection cloud. I know enough to set up the network but when it doesn't work
I want to block facebook from my network. I am using mikrotic router for internet, It is allow to block all ip series so the problem with this I can't even open any site which having facebook plug-ins.
I am experiencing connectivity issues with the wireless part for several weeks. The laptop connects to it, but it shows me that it does not have internet access.I also have a belkin router that I also use. So, when I have the connectivity issues, I connect to the other router. When I use the Cisco Connect application, it goes on for a couple of minutes and then gives the message "If you are not connected to my router SSID name you can't update your router settings".
I am trying to setup my E4200 to my new Cable Modem. I followed all of the procedures. I get Internet access when plugged directly to modem. I cloned the MAC Address and the Stus of the Router displays my current IP's (so I should have Internet). However, when I plug my computer into the Router I get no internet access.
I have a problem with the e4200 router and a mybook 1 TB connected to it. The media server works fine but after a while i loose contact with the router and the server this means that the Cisco connect doesn't work, the 192.168.1.1 doesn't work and I can't find the disk via \. I do have internet connection via wifi as im using it now....why I loose connection to the router? The lease time is 24h and it can happen more than once in a day.
I just installed my new E4200, and am setting the Access Restrictions. Is there anyway to block the popup window that displays every time I enter the form or save the settings?
I'm using IE9 and have tried adjusting the Popup Blocker, but to no avail.
