View 4 Replies View RelatedI am attempting to block Facebook on a WRT160N firmware v3.0.00. I have a successful policy that blocks edit.com for instance and attempted to add url... I don't want to add keyword blocking as multiple news articles are in regards to Facebook. We simply do not want the Facebook website allowed. I tested the other policies on a network-wide setting, applying it to all IPs successfully, added Facebook to them and it goes right around the block. My guess is that Facebook is most likely designed to make it purposely difficult to block.
I went through the recent articles in search, but they primarily dealt with incorrect application of the policy (spec'ing MAC, or IPs), which isn't the case here. Eventually I will apply the policies to specific Macs, but I want them to work first.
I have the Linksys WRT610N wireless router and would like to know if it is possible to block all domains ending in .XXX? The access restrictions let you type in a 'specific' URL, but using a generic domain name doesn't seem to work. I basically want to block all access to any URL that ends in .XXX.

The attached settings block facebook as desired during the filter times but after 6:30pm the filter expires and the entire internet is blocked (not just facebook). All of my browsers act as if they are hanging and won't load pages until I disable the filter.
I've also tried creating two different filters (one at a time). The first allowed full internet access all the time and the second allowed access the opposite times of the work filter. But to no avail.
On E4200 Firmware Version: 1.0.03, I managed to successfully set up "Internet Access Policy" (not the "Parental Controls") to set up the times when internet access is disabled for various IPs on my network.
But I could't setup a policy to block facebook.com. What I am doing wrong? See the attached screen shot. I did click the "Edit List" and apply this polity to the IP Address Range 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.254.
How to block a specific website with a specific time (office hours) for example "facebook" I want to block facebook within 8AM - 12Noon then 12-1 they can access the website, then 1-4 block again the website .

I've tried listing FB IP address ranges (the 66s, 69s and the 204s) in Access Control and under IP Range Block Rules, and using the schedule page to set an access schedule. Everything looks reasonable but we can all still access FB. What am I missing? I think I found all the IPs for FB, maybe not? Not truly clear if the schedule is for times to block or times to access.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI have the WRT310N v2 and having been having an issue with the Facebook games for the past week. I can logon to facebook just fine, but when I try to go into a game or accept gift requests, nothing works and the page always times out. However, when I disconnect the modem cable from the router and plug it in directly to the desktop, everything works fine. All other websites (Shockwave and Pogo) work just fine, but just Facebook has the problem when the router is connected.
I went through all the settings for the router. Nothing is blocked and everything is in fine working order. The only thing I noticed was that there was a firmware update to 2.0.01 which I did, and still the problem remains. I've made sure that there are no restrictions on IE or Chrome as well. I first thought that the router was crapping out, but have since disregarded that.
I've been using my WRT310Nv2 Cisco wireless Gigabit N router for 2 weeks now, and sometimes, it's blocking access to Facebook.comI am not aware if it does the same thing with other websites, but my guess is that if I fix this one, I'll fix them all. So here I go, I click on my Facebook icon in my bookmarks and all goes well. Then, a while after, Facebook doesn't respond anymore and I'm send to a page that says "this is probably not the webpage you are looking for!" and it goes on about someone probably trying to hack my Internet and so on. But it's impossible: my network is under a solid WPA/WPA 2 security access. So I try again and click on the FB icon, and it shows me this:
"Invalid URL
The requested URL "/", is invalid.

I have an E2000, and I connect wirelessly through my Macbook. When I use the internet on any laptop I connect to the router (not just the Mac) I can't log in to Facebook, Amazon, Ebay, Hotmail, or any other site, and Google image pages only load halfway. In certain websites I try to use I cannot click anything at all. I have tried unplugging and plugging back in, and I have tried resetting the router.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI purchased a WRT610N router early this month, the wireless network was working completely fine when I first set it up. Today I tried to connect my laptop to my wireless network. The laptop isn't able to connect at all. I also got a Sony PSP which has WLAN on and that saying it cannot detect any access point which would be my router.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought a certified refurbished router. The model is WRT610N-RM. Where's what I've done:
1. Downloaded newest firmware from the site using old router, Then disconnected. Connected a lan cable to the new router. Powered up the router. Held down reset untill the light blinks. Went to the browser and typed 192.168.1.1. Entered password to go into router and upgraded firmware. 2. 5 Ghz Settings: Went to Wireless menu. Selected "manual", mode is "mixed" (If i chose N only for 5 Ghz, then It won't save my setting for internet security. Instead it will be "disable" no matter what". The rest was default. SSID is enabled. Then I set up the 2.5 Ghz. I have 3 other computers with N wireless card. Some others have G, however when I viewed available networks, I only see the 2.4 Ghz ssid. I tried to reboot and unplug power for 10 seconds, but no luck seeing the 5 Ghz.
ive tried all types of things i read online and it is stuck on moderate no matter what i do, im hooked into router directly, when i hook directly into modem it switches to open.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am finding it impossible to set up port forwarding. No matter what I do I remain completely stealthed when I do a port probe via [URL]... The only way I seem to be able to open a port is if I enable remote management. When I do that, whatever port I specifiy as the remote management port is then fully open. Obviously, I can't leave a port exposed like this and, anyway, I need to open multiple ports for my purposes.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have had no problems with my WRt610N fo 2 years. Yesterday a problem occured and today again. Namely, I opened my laptop (the lid) and suddenly it could not see my network (SSID) among the rest of the neighbouring ones. The WiFi indicator in the tray showed the yellow "!". Since I have another (secondary) router wired to the primary (WRT610N) I tried and succeeded to connect to it (same SSID, but type "g").
Today the same situation. This is the straneg thing - if I 1st connect to the "g" router after a while the WIn7 reports my SSID being of type "gn" meaning it now sees the primary WRT610N. If I switch off the secondary the netowork is maintained by the primary router showing "n". It seems like my laptop cannot see my router (but can see all other networks) until it 1sr connects to the secondary, and afterwards it sees the primary router and can stay with it.
Is LinkLogger the only option for reading logs on the WRT610Nv2? I read about Linksys's own software called LogViewer 1.14 but I can't find it.

For years now I have not been able to forward ports at all. Any port checkers come back with unable to contact your router.I am fairly certain its the router because, I directly plugged my 360 into my modem and everything worked like a charm.I've read on a similar post found here "Similar post" that updating the firmware might fix the issue?
