Linksys Wireless Router :: Cannot Connect Canon MP620 Printer To WRT300N V 1.1
Oct 10, 2009
I cannot seem to figure out how to connect my Canon MP620 Wireless printer to my wireless router. The router is a WRT300N v 1.1 with the latest firmware upgrade. I am using WPA for security. I can connect to the printer wirelessly through my neighbor's open system so it has something to do with security I suspect. I have enabled the AP feature and disabled it to see if that is an issue. That has not changed anything. I have looked at other posts with HP printer issues and access point posts but none of those solutions have worked. The Canon gives me an option to use the WPA, WPA2 and WEP?

I have a desktop running XP. I am using comcast as my ISP. I have my printer attached to my Linksys wrt160N router via Ethernet. My desktop is also attached via ethernet. I also have a laptop attached to the router via wireless. How do I access the printer via the router from either the desktop or laptop? I had it configured properly in the past then lost my motherboard. Once the PC was rebuilt, I lost access.

I can't seem to get my Canon MG5220 Wireless Printer to connect to my Belkin N150 wireless router. The printer sees the belkin wireless router network name but cannot connect to it( after entering the correct security key). It worked fine with a previous wireless router. My desktop PC is connected to the belkin router via direct ethernet, and I want to be able to access my wireless printer which is located in another room from my PC. I think I remember reading that the canon mg5220 may not support WPA2 security, but Its only a year old and would prefer not to regonfigure my router's security setting. how I can get this printer to connect to my router? Any other ways to access this printer from my PC which is connected to LAN via ethernet?

I currently have Canon MX870 pixma printer - it is wifi enabled. A few weeks ago it went offline and I was able to reconnect it by entering the "access point" and password in printer control panel. It has once again gone offline however the printer cannot locate the access point by searching and when entered manually returns a message that it cannot locate the access point as entered. I am having the same problem with my TV which is also wireless connected, i.e., the TV is not connected to the internet and I cannot locate the network name (access point) in the setup menu on the TV. I had also previously reconnected the TV by entering the network name manually.
I tried looking in the router - Linksys Wireless-G 2.4 but cannot figure out where this information should be located. There is a setup tab in the router administration and both the Host name and the Domain name are blank. The router admin page states that: Host Name : Enter the host name provided by your ISP. Domain Name : Enter the domain name provided by your ISP. The wireless tab states: Status: SES Inactive. Does this mean anything?

I am trying to setup the wireless printer (Canon MX436) to my ACER laptop (windows 7).
I am not very techincal and the instructions say to "Press and hold the WPS button on the access point (for about 5 seconds)." but have no idea what this means.
I know the laptop has the wi-fi turned on but when the printer searches it doesn't find it.

For reasons I will explain in a separate thread, following a firmware upgrade to version 2.00.21, I am no longer able to connect to my WRT300N using the web interface. The device seems to be working fine (but for the lack of the web config access.) I'm loathe to leave it "inaccessible" and would like to use the Setup CD-ROM described in the manuals to connect directly to the device to see if I can fix the problem.
I have been through my "filing system" (read "junk room") to try to find the original device packaging, wherein I am sure I would find the original CD-ROM. Is there anywhere I can download an image of the original Linksys Setup CD-ROM for the WRT300N version 2.0 device?

I have 2 desktops (running windows 7), a Canon MF8300 printer, and an outgoing ethernet line, all on a Netgear Advanced Cable Modem Gateway CGD24-CPR. I'm only concerned with having the 2 desktops set up with the Canon printer. Both computers have been connected to the printer before and I have the startup disk. But once the new offices were set up and both of the desktops were moved, I can no longer access or find the printer.
I can IPconfig the Desktops for their IPV4 addresses and both desktops recognize eachother on a Homegroup, but I can't find the printer. I printed off the print configuration page from the printer which gave me an IP address (printer is set for auto-obtain), but using an IP search won't bring up the printer. All of the devices are plugged into ethernet ports set up for the three different office they are in and the actual location of the Netgear cable modem/router is over 100 feet away. My primary concern is getting the printer for the desktops, but I also need to add a wireless router into one of those office in the future.

Have a Canon MG6120 wireless multifunction printer. I rarely print anything from my laptop, but wanted to do that today. What I get is an error message that the printer is offline -- which it isn't; it's on. I tried going thru the setup on the printer, re-entering the SSID, and it said it was connected. Still same error that it's offline.
About a month ago, I did change the name of my router, but it never cause a problem with printing from my desktop, which I can still do. It's just the laptop that gets the "offline" error. What do I need to do to make the laptop recognize that the printer is on?

Recently i converted a customer's APs to LWAP and installed a 2504 WLC. Everything came up and is acting good, but the printer is no longer printing. It can neither be discovered using windows networking, nor bonjour. It worked until LWAPP conversion.
It is an AirPrint device, a Canon mx892. Trying to print using an IP port fails, AirPrint fails, and sharing it through the attached Mac also fails. I dont know enough about printers or AirPrint to effectively troubleshoot. The customer opened a case with Canon, who says its a network issue. I cannot get it configured on the wire, apparently setting up a printer isnt as easy as it used to be.

After enduring some protracted problems with wireless connectivity, I decided to bite the bullet and upgrade my Linksys WRT300N from firmware version 2.00.08 to 2.00.21.I found the links to advice on how to achieve this, via a two-stage upgrade url...I followed the following steps: Upgrade firmware using file "wrt300n.bin" file, as per the above link. This brought the firmware version to 2.00.17. Upgrade went smoothly - config page refreshed after rebooting the router and all was well.Upgrade firmware using file "WRT300N-EU-ETSI-ML-2.00.21-code.img" file, downloaded from the Linksys support site. Again, the upgrade went smoothly (apparently) ... except that after rebooting the router, my config page failed to refresh.I have since powered the router off (wait 30 seconds) and on again. Still no web access.
The device, however, does seem to be working OK. I have wireless access, and wireless access, via computers on my network. The only thing I cannot do is access the web config page - but that's not quite satisfactory. I have a number of customised settings on the device, saved to a config file. Included among those is a changed IP address for the router of 192.168.1.10. I am tempted to do a hard reset to factory defaults, connect via a dedicated cable connection and then reapply my custom settings (either manually, or from the config file.) However at this stage I have no confidence that the device will have web access after reset - and then it won't be working for me at all!
Does firmware version 2.00.21 require http access via a specific port (i.e. not 80)? Is there some other way I can access the device for modifying configuration, other than by the web utility? (I have posted another question about obtaining a copy of my long-ago-misplaced Setup CD-ROM.

I unplugged my router and when I plugged it back in, it stopped working. The 4 port lights and the ethernet light come on immediately when I plug it in instead of the normal boot sequence.
I tried resetting it, leaving it unplugged for long periods, using the power supply from my other router,... nothing works.

Just got WRT300N for connecting my ps3 thru wi-fi. I got everything works but the signal that I got from my PS3 is around 50% only. I am using latest Linksys firmware. My ps3 is located around 25 feet away one floor down from my wireless router. But there is no major wall inbeween the connection. My WRT300N should be a cutting edge product for networking. How come I still got 50% signal strength? Besides moving the router or pS3 closed to each other.
