Linksys Wireless Router :: Wrt160N As A Access Point For Canon MP620 Printer?

Nov 18, 2012

I have a desktop running XP.  I am using comcast as my ISP.  I have my printer attached to my Linksys wrt160N router via Ethernet.  My desktop is also attached via ethernet.  I also have a laptop attached to the router via wireless. How do I access the printer via the router from either the desktop or laptop?  I had it configured properly in the past then lost my motherboard.  Once the PC was rebuilt, I lost access.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Cannot Connect Canon MP620 Printer To WRT300N V 1.1

Oct 10, 2009

I cannot seem to figure out how to connect my Canon MP620 Wireless printer to my wireless router.  The router is a WRT300N v 1.1 with the latest firmware upgrade.  I am using WPA for security. I can connect to the printer wirelessly through my neighbor's open system so it has something to do with security I suspect.  I have enabled the AP feature and disabled it to see if that is an issue.  That has not changed anything.  I have looked at other posts with HP printer issues  and access point posts but none of those solutions have worked.  The Canon gives me an option to use the WPA, WPA2 and WEP?

Linksys Wireless Router :: Using WRT160N V2 As Access Point?

Mar 22, 2013

I have a FIOS setup with their Router/modem providing DHCP and Wireless routing.  The problem I have is that I have a mix of older equipment and newer equipment.  The newer equipment is capable of supporting WPA2, the older is not.  I would like the benefits of WPA2, but still would like to at times be able to use the older equipment. My solution was to use a WRT160N v2 router that I had as an access point and it also gives me switch capabilities for wired systems as the FIOS router in on a different floor than the Linksys router.  Wired access works just fine and the wireless worked fine until just recently.Since both routers have the same default IP addresses I changed the Linksys to a different static IP and turned off DHCP.  I left all of the other defaults the same.  I set up the Linksys for WEP and created the key for security.  Everything worked fine for the better part of a year, but recently I am having problems where some of the computers cannot find the network or find it then lose connection.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Use WRT160N As Access Point?

Aug 3, 2011

I have a WRT 160n I want to use as an access point.  The cable company has provided the main router so I want to use the 160 as the access point.  I have a switch attached to the router and have the 160 attached to the switch.  I can ping and access the 160, however there signal strength has not changed and is still extremely low.  I know that the strength on the router is very good when I plug it in to the cable modem.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Setting Up Access Point With WRT160n?

Sep 19, 2011

I just bought a Linksys E4200 wireless router. I have an old Linksys WRT160N wireless router.  I would like to setup the WRT160N downstairs to wire the DirecTv box and PS3 to it. Then wirelessly connect to the E4200 upstairs where our modem is connected.  Can the WRT160N be used as an access point to do this or do I need other equipment?

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT160N V2 As Access Point Inside LAN

Oct 13, 2008

I got this router and I need to set it as an Access Point (will not be using the routing functionality) in the far side of our building. Our LAN uses IP address in the range 10 with subnet 255.0.0.0, so I need to put the access point ino this subnet. The drop down box only allows me to set some predefined subnet masks, none of which matches ours. So how am I supposed to set this router in our LAN?

What configuration should be done on the router WRT160N to permit wireless signal to be repeated by WAP4410N?

Linksys Access Point :: Amplifying WRT160N Signal With Secondary AP

Mar 13, 2012

My Linksys Wireless-N router/access point (WRT160NV2) is connected to the internet in my primary residence, delivering 35mbps. I purchased a commercial Engenius product (EAP9550) to amplify the wifi signal over to a secondary house (about 180 ft away, traveling through 3 walls). Configured as an access point, the EAP9550 received and showed signal, but there was zero connectivity. The tech support at Engenius has advised me to configure the EAP9550 as an access point. My linksys router continues to deliver wireless signal for its range, but is only showing (not giving) full connectivity to the secondary access point.

Can't Access Canon MP495 Printer Through Network

Apr 17, 2012

My Canon MP495 3-in-1 inkjet XPS printer is connected through my mother's computer, and up until a few days ago I was able to print from it through our Home network. My mother can still print from it directly, so it is not a hardware issue. On my computer when I go to print, underneath the printer selection it says server offline. I have checked both computers and they are both on the Home network with all sharing options on. I can see her media and documents from my computer and she can see mine vise-versa. When I open the Network and Sharing Center and view the full network map, my mother's computer runs to a question mark then to the router, while mine is shown to be fine. When you click on the router within the map it brings up a page saying "Important Update. To avoid a conflict with your Internet Service Provider, your router's IP address has been updated to 10.0.0.1. You must now update the IP addresses in your router's configuration settings for each relevant service, such as port forwarding and IP address reservation." I do not know if this is the problem and it is starting to go beyond my realm of understanding. Also, possibly related, we had a bad storm that did NOT knock our power out, but the internet went down and we had to reboot the modems. This occurred right before the problems began. Last piece of information: We are going through 2 routers due to lack of jacks in the house. The line goes through the first router which connects to a second one in the back of the house. Both computers are linked to the second router, and it is the second router which shows on the network map. I go to an online college and it is necessary for me to access the printer.

How To Connect Wireless Canon Printer To Belkin N150 Router

Nov 26, 2012

I can't seem to get my Canon MG5220 Wireless Printer to connect to my Belkin N150 wireless router. The printer sees the belkin wireless router network name but cannot connect to it( after entering the correct security key). It worked fine with a previous wireless router. My desktop PC is connected to the belkin router via direct ethernet, and I want to be able to access my wireless printer which is located in another room from my PC. I think I remember reading that the canon mg5220 may not support WPA2 security, but Its only a year old and would prefer not to regonfigure my router's security setting. how I can get this printer to connect to my router? Any other ways to access this printer from my PC which is connected to LAN via ethernet?

Canon MF8300 Printer - Unable To Locate Printer On Network

Mar 21, 2011

I have 2 desktops (running windows 7), a Canon MF8300 printer, and an outgoing ethernet line, all on a Netgear Advanced Cable Modem Gateway CGD24-CPR. I'm only concerned with having the 2 desktops set up with the Canon printer. Both computers have been connected to the printer before and I have the startup disk. But once the new offices were set up and both of the desktops were moved, I can no longer access or find the printer.

I can IPconfig the Desktops for their IPV4 addresses and both desktops recognize eachother on a Homegroup, but I can't find the printer. I printed off the print configuration page from the printer which gave me an IP address (printer is set for auto-obtain), but using an IP search won't bring up the printer. All of the devices are plugged into ethernet ports set up for the three different office they are in and the actual location of the Netgear cable modem/router is over 100 feet away. My primary concern is getting the printer for the desktops, but I also need to add a wireless router into one of those office in the future.

Canon MG6120 - Can't Print To Wireless Printer

Have a Canon MG6120 wireless multifunction printer. I rarely print anything from my laptop, but wanted to do that today. Still same error that it's offline.

About a month ago, I did change the name of my router, but it never cause a problem with printing from my desktop, which I can still do. It's just the laptop that gets the "offline" error. What do I need to do to make the laptop recognize that the printer is on?
