No Internet Access - Wireless Network Does Not Have Valid IP Configuration
Dec 1, 2012
When I try to connect to the Internet it says that I am connected but have no Internet access. When I use the troubleshooter it says wireless network configuration does not have a valid ip configuration. I also tried using the Ethernet cable but it still says no Internet access.
I cannot connect to the internet. After running troubleshooting i receive and error message."Local area connection 2" doesn't have a valid ip configuration. [code]...
I am having a similar problem as others with the "wireless network connection does not have valid IP configuration" explanation. I have a Dlink DIR-655 wireless router and everything was working fine for a very long time, but yesterday the wireless stopped working. After trying a couple of things and having the same problem I reset the router and now I cannot get the wireless to work. When I run the Windows 7 network troubleshooter it comes up with the "wireless network connection does not have valid IP configuration" explanation, but I cannot figure out how to remedy this problem. I foolishly did not save the previous router configuration before resetting the router[CODE]
I have been trying to "fix" this issue on my laptop for the past month, on and off. I have been using other sources to access the internet reading up on resolutions on this issue and all kinds of forums. I am knowledgeable, but not able to understand some of the fixes and terms that I have come across. I feel like I've tried everything and still I cannot access the internet on my PC wired or wireless.I have a Toshiba Satellite L505-GS5038. I tried to release & renew my ipconig.
I'm getting the problem: "Wireless Network Connection" doesn't have a valid IP configuration Recently I had to recover my Asus G73J laptop with Windows 7 and now it's having trouble getting internet access once it connects to the router. I am renting a basement suite and don't have access to the router upstairs (don't know what brand it is because I've never seen it before and they're on vacation right now so I can't even ask them to reset it or do anything right now). They are with Shaw Cable.
i installed windows 7 on my desktop pc and every time i try and connect via wifi i get that error. only way i can surf the net is through ethernet what can i do to fix this issue

I have a desktop PC using Windows 7 Pro. and a Airlink N 150 Mini USB wireless adapter. My 2Wire modem/router from AT&T was failing to stay connected and was replaced today with a Netgear 7550 modem/router from AT&T. I installed the Netgear 7550 and am able to access the internet with my Asus Laptop, my LG Thrill phone, and my Samsung Galaxy 2 tablet with no problems. However, my Desktop cannot connect to the internet and the Window Network diagnostics returned the following message: Network Connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration. How do I go about connecting my desktop to the Netgear modem/router so that I have access to the internet? By the way I am able to connect to the internet using an ethernet cable and a LAN connection.

I have a new Windows 7 laptop which cannot connect to internet through my WRK54G Linksys router. Other laptops can connect through the same router, and the same laptop has connected through other routers. The laptop has it's TCP/IPv6 and TCP/IPv4 internet protocols set to get addresses automaticaly.
ipconfig shows that the IPv6 autoconfiguration address is 169.254.28.183 instead of 192.168.1.XXX. I tried the ipconfig/release and ipconfig/renew commands, as recommended by the knowledge base, but got the following error message: No operation can be performed on wireless network connection 2 while it has its media disconnected.
I live in a college dorm room, and my internet stopped working about 2 days ago. My roommates don't have this problem. I don't know what kind of details to give you because I know nothing about this stuff.

error: "local area network doesn't have a valid ip configuration" Problem on another machine: aCER aSPIRE w/ windows 7 Had internet previously; no changes made to machine EXCEPT swapped hardware internet connection from Links router to a temp set up on a laptop.Couldn't get laptop to connect via hardware - went wireless instead Upon return of cable to ASPIRE, got above error message. Running connection Wizard doesn't do it!
I am using hp pressario C7000 with window 7 32 bits. Can not access the internet. The reports 'local area network doesn't have a valid ip configuration'.
I have an Acer 7750G, running Windows 7,connected to our home network using a Dynex router. At the moment this is the only laptop in the house that is having problems with connectivity. Starting yesterday, it only connects intermittently. When I run diagnostics, it says the following problems have been fixed but it either solves the problem for a few minutes only or not at all: "Problem with wireless adapter or access point" or "Default gateway is not available".
IPV6 connectivity also shows 'no internet access' and sometimes IPV4 reports no internet. I've unplugged and rebooted the modem and router a few times but that hasn't solved the problem.
Edit: I ran troubleshoot again, and it says the following issue is not fixed: "Wireless Network Connection 2 does not have a valid IP configuration".
I have been facing the same problem with my wireless connection. I can connect to all the wireless connection except one, and it shows yellow exclamation mark in its icon.
The last few days I had been getting the error that: "Local Area Connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration" whenever I reboot my computer. I have to power cycle the router before I can get back the internet connection. Checked on the web and tried various solutions which did not work. So I tried using various firmwares for the WRT160N V2 like V2.03 Build 7 and Build 9. Still did not work. Finally reverted back to my old and trusted FW2.02 Build 8. And this seemed to improve the situation. However, the error will still appear from time to time though not as frequently.
I am setting up a new E4200 modem, and have not been able to use the wired connection. The Windows 7 diagnositic on all three computers tells me "Local Area Connection, doesn't have a valid IP configuration."Model: E4200v1..I am using a new E4200 router, along with a new SE1500 5-port switch and a new SE2800 8-port switch.I am using a wired network that consists of two desktop computers, a laptop computer, a network printer, three Direct TV recorders, two Roku streaming video players, a BluRay player, and an XBox gaming console. Here is what I have done so far.
1- I can bypass the router to establish a direct wired connection to the cable modem. This works to access the internet. It establishes a new wired connection called Network 2. 2- I can access the internet using the wireless connection to the router. It shows a valid IPv4 address. 3- With all cables in place, all the lights are flashing on the router and on the computers. 4- I had changed cables and swapped cable ends. 5- Using the wireless connection, I can access the router home page (192.168.1.1). It shows valid IP addresses.
The problem is that my old Linksys BEFSR81 stopped working, with the same eror message for the LAN connection, "Local Area Connection, doesn't have a valid IP configuration."How often does the WAN port go bad? On both a five-year old BEFSR81, and a brand new E4200?
Whenever I try to connect Windows XP with Windows 7 I get an error "Local Area Connection" doesn't have a valid IP configuration.I have tried a lot of tutorials and answers on different forums but could not get the answer.
I recently bought a desktop off craigslist, it has been working fine for the past month, but I was about to start up a program and it froze. (was beginning to overheat, so it froze.) So no problem, I reset the computer and when I logged on, the internet had a fashionable yellow ! sign. So I diagnosed it and received the "Local Area Network does not have a valid IP configuration." Now every single computer, wired or not, can access the internet so it is specifically my desktop. I have done literally everything suggested in multiple forums, and nothing I do seems to work. I figure instead of listing everything I have done, I will just assume that I either did it wrong, or was given false information on how to do it, so in case one of those hold true I won't be stuck thinking something didn't work.
-Internet was working -Computer froze -Reset Computer -Internet no longer working on my computer (does on other computers) -Local Area Network does not have a valid IP configuration
I'm having trouble getting my laptop to connect to the Internet over wi-Fi. If I plug it directly into the router with a cable it works fine. I have 10 other things in my house that connect over wi-Fi just fine, my pc just won't connect.
I know this question seems to come out a lot but I can't seem to fix it. I am a college student and my internet has worked 100% fine until I went home this weekend and came back. It worked this weekend when I brought my computer home and when I came back today it gives me this error when I try to troubleshoot. The only thing that could have changed is when I went home I set my DNS to be openDNS because it makes a huge difference there, but I changed it back when I got here. I don't know if that would matter, but unplugging and restarting are doing nothing.
I am having this problem on my acer intel core i3 laptop I think my Network adapter is corrupt I cannot connect to my Netgear(home) router anymore... I use to be able to troubleshoot/diagnose and fix the error but now it doesn't fix it anymore.Wireless works though...the problem only occurs when I plug a network cable into the NIC... I have tried other network cables and the router at work but it gives me the same error.things I have tried to fix NIC that did not work
cmd- iprelease/renew changing things in the registry changing mac address updating netgear firmware updating NIC driver uninstalling the bonjour service
I have tried putting the ip address...dns in manually?i am running on windows 7?
the same thing happened to me Thursday as well. All the laptops and my friends computer(same exact build as my own.) had been able to connect to the internet via wireless/ethernet. However my computer does not. For quite a while it would say the address doesn't have a valid IP, now it thinks there is nothing wrong... I had wiped and reinstalled windows 4 times in a sorry attempt to fix the issue. Also, I had checked the driver for my internet and reinstalled the latest version several times. I've exhausted all the resourses I can think of
I'm using an ethernet cord to connect to my internet and it has been working well until Thursday morning when I turned on my laptop (Windows 8) to see a yellow triangle sign in the bottom right hand corner, in front of the ethernet connected symbol. Since then I haven't been able been able to access the internet from my computer. When I hover over it, it says that it is an "Unidentified network" and there is "No internet access". I've run the Windows 8 troubleshooting and it says that the problem found was ""Ethernet" doesn't have a valid IP configuration", but I'm unsure how to fix it.
I'm thinking that the problem is to do with my computer rather than my network, because I've tried another laptop (Windows 7) through the same ethernet cable and connection and the internet works fine on the other laptop. I've tried so many fixes that I've found online, with none of them actually working. Yesterday I even tried a full system reset, where I reinstalled Windows 8, repartitioned and wiped everything off the hard drive, but it still appears have the exact same problem.
Today I also purchased and tried a new ethernet cable which didn't work, so I then purchased a USB to Ethernet adapter, to make sure that it wasn't my ethernet port on my laptop that was faulty. That didn't work either, and the same problem still remains.
I have been having a lot of trouble getting my computer to connect to the internetIt is only one computer on the network that consistently has problems. It was working ok recently, except that I would have to turn the router off and back on fairly often, because the computer would say that the DNS lookup failed. Today it stopped working, and now says that the adapter does not have a valid ip configuration. I do not know what to do.
I am using an ethernet cable to connect my desktop to a Linksys router but I am getting the following message "Local Area Connection" doesn't have a valid ip configuration.I have connected to other routers so I do not believe that the card is at fault. So far I have tried the following:
Swapping ethernet cables Connecting to router connecting to modem power cycling router/modem/computer downloading new driver
Randomly today my internet cut out I tried resetting the modem/powering it down etc nothing worked. I then tried the windows network diagnosis and it resulted in this issue "local area connection 2" doesn't have a valid ip configuration. I'm also directly connected to my modem if it matters. I never had this issue today. This issue keeps randomly occuring. I have a modem/router combo
I recently hooked my computer back up after moving and the Internet is not working. After going through the troubleshooting steps it gives the message local area connection does not have valid ip configuration. I have a net gear router and the wifi works fine on my phone and laptop.
I had my computer hooked up to the internet thru a wireless adapter and it broke so trying to hook it up thru a direct connection Ethernet cord into my router but its not working been giving me a couple answers to the problem one being that the local area connection doesn't have a valid up configuration and one other that hasn't popped up recently for me to write down but I've been searching all kinds of forums and trying all the usual problem fixers but I don't have a disk to reboot my operating system or anything and can't restore to previous settings cause the person I bought it from had it set to not make a back up recovery file I was thinking it might have something to do with the wireless adapter being installed but I can't find anywhere to uninstall that or change my settings off of a wireless adaptor situation... What should I do?
Windows 7 Connects to local network ok, but No Internet Access, i tried to reset dns, tcp/ip, but the same problem appear, but when I'm trying using modem, internet is working fine..i get the yellow triangle with exclamation point in the taskbar saying "No Internet Access". I've tried shutting off the firewall, setting the connection to public, etc. with no change. I've also gone through the Windows Network Diagnostic process and it says... "local Area Connection 2 doesn't have a valid IP Configuration"
