I had win7 32bit with working wireless internet.Deleted it and installed Win XP and now there is no wireless internet.Downloaded all kinds of drivers from realtek but nothing works for RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC.

I recently replaced the hard drive for m y laptop and I am desperatately trying to set up a wireless connection for it but when i open up the network connections box i can't se a wireless connection icon.I was able to get a wireless connection with the old hard drive.

This is issue is with my Dell laptop that--up till an hour ago--had a wireless area connection icon in the lower right corner and a Wireless Area Network option when I went to "Network Connections" (I still have my LAN option.) I was using a Driver Whiz program to update all my drivers when it said I needed some Intel Wireless Config program. So I downloaded it but at the end I had no Internet access and no icon, etc. So I uninstalled that program but it was too late. I've even tried a system restore to a few hours prior to this mistake of mine to no avail. My husband says I need to connect hardwire to the Internet and download a WAN driver...is that correct?

Drops connection drops wireless, wired, and the globe internet icon goes Lambert/orange. I've reset the router to default and it still does that. What could be the cause?
I've done a lot of changing around, disabling unicast, changing from WPA Auto to WPA2, etc etc, I just changed the router to Netgear WGR614 v7 and it works perfectly fine now.

Ever since I installed some Bluetooth software the internet connection icon has displayed a red X and is not reporting on the real name for my router. It only says 'Network 2 Internet access Unidentified network No internet access'. According to Device Manager I have two entries under Network Adaptors: NVIDEA nForce Networking Controller VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapter (I am using VirtualBox to run Windows 8 and Ubuntu). If I were to uninstall the NVIDEA driver what would I reinstall? The existing version on my hard disk somewhere? I used Update Driver and it said I had the latest drivers so I assume that's what I have available locally.

I have downloaded all the most recent drivers for this motherboard. I'm running an EVGA NForce 680i SLI Motherboard (model# 122-CK-NF68). However the problem Im having is that in the Network Connection window there is no 'icon' to configure for my ethernet connection. I have looked at the Device Manager and ALL components are working properly. There are no 'X' or '?' labelled on any of the Network devices. I have done a ton of research on this Forum and have tried a dozen things and still can't seem to figure it out. I dont have intermediate syndrome so I'm not willing to take any chances with something I don't know.

Since there is not local area connection Icon, I am unable to connect to internet.In the Network connection, I can find Dial-up(Bluetooth connection and Nokia USB modem OTA); under LAN or High Speed Internet, there is only this Wireless network connection. All of these are working fine. I have checked the device manager and BIOS, everything seems fine and Enabled. Since I've got it I get errors telling me the DNS server is unavailable randomly, so I reset my modem and router, do the ipconfig windows commands, but this time it seems as if the wireless isn't working. This computer is connected to the router via wire and can connect to the internet just fine, but any wireless devices cannot. On the front of the router the wireless icon is just blinking. Also, I am not able to connect to the router login page through it's IP address, it just times out.

The blue dot rotates and moves about but instead of showing a connection, just the signal bars showing, it shows a land line connection with a red X over it. This happened after one of those many Windows updates.
I know I could try a reset to an earlier boot however, I made too many changes, installs and such that I don't want to loose any of it. There has to be a workaround for this lousy problem. I though of perhaps deleting my wireless connection and reinstalling it from the modem on up to the router. I just don't want to keep digging a hole! Ya know what, I really miss my apple computer which I finally gave up on because the price was overwhelming.
