A couple hours ago I installed AVG free antivirus and pc-cleanup and decided to uninstall them after seeing poor results. When I rebooted my computer, I was unable to, and still am, to find any wireless networks. I've tried disabling Microsoft firewall and restoring but everything has failed.
View 15 RepliesMy Vista computer and my XP computer had been happily "talking" to each other, sharing files and printers. I got tired of paying $70 a year for Norton Internet Security, so I uninstalled it (using the Norton removal tool) and selected the Windows Firewall. I also installed Avast! and SuperAntiSpyware. Now neither computer talks to the other. When I run "\FamilyRoomHPOfficeJet" I get "Windows cannot access \FamilyRoomHPOfficeJet" . Check spelling, etc. Get error code 0x800704b3 "The network path was either typed incorrectly, does not exist or the network provider is not currently available..." What have I messed up by going from the Norton firewall to the Windows one.

Is it true that the FCC is investigating the Pogo game site because of poor security? Is Java the cause of this problem?I'm very leery of getting on the Pogo site because I've been told that my computer could get a virus and crash.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm new to IT, and have been put in charge of managing our servers hile my boss is on vacation.We currently have a Sonicwall Network Security Appliance that handles our Firewall/VPN and have web content filtering set in place.I have a user who belongs to 2 CFS policy groups that we have set up. I've double checked with Active Directory, and he is a member of both groups.
This person SHOULD have access to Job searches/ and Restaurants,but receives a "content blocked" message on his browser.It appears to me that the settings in Sonicwall are correct, as well with AD member groups.
I am trying to connect to a Security-enabled wireless netowork. I have the key. My problem is that I can't seem to figure out how to enter it. When I try to connect I open the "view available networks"window. I see the network name and it shows a strong signal (all 5 green bars).

View 3 Replies View RelatedA couple of weeks ago, my laptop (vista) suddenly started not detecting any wireless networks anymore. Wired internet still works. Wireless suddenly went 'poof'.Since then, I tried basically everything. I rebooted the wireless adapter, rebooted laptop, the network is most definately in range of the laptop, updated the driver and all didn't work. Yes, the adapter is turned on, obviously. When I look into device manager, there are yellow exclamation marks next to the microsoft 6to4 adapter and the ISATAP adapter, so I also tried updating those. Didn't do anything. They still show a code 10. So i disabled both of them, also didn't work. I deleted and reinstalled both too. I even tried disabling 6to4 in the bios but didn't work.Device manager says my Intel (R) wifi Link 5100 AGN adapter works perfectly. Also updated it, un- and reinstalled it => no effect.
Though, even without those exclamation marks, i'm pretty sure my network doesn't send out much ip6 stuff, so it should still work... But it's not just my network at home, it simply won't detect any wireless networks anymore.Also tried windows recovery to put it back in the state before it wouldn't work anymore, but no effect.
the virus is no longer a problem. Now, I cannot get the computer to connect to the internet via wireless OR wired connection. The computer will connect to the router and I can see other computers on the network, but I continue to see the warning triangle that says "No Internet Access." When running the diagnostics on the connection I receive "Windows could not detect the networks proxy settings."

Now my problem started happening after my desktop computer got unplugged. When I booted back up, I was unable to connect to my access point. Or find any of the other networks it can always see. I took my laptop and set up an ad hoc network and it came right up. The wireless access point has not been changed and it is perfectly fine. I've updated the drivers from Ralink, nothing. Uninstalled and rebooted, nothing. Checked the BIOS for any settings, nothing. Made sure the radio was turned on, nothing.

i received a dell latitude D610 and installed the operating system and the drivers, when i open the network adapters in device manager it says i have the Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx gigabit controller. when i try to connect to the internet with a cable it works fine but it wont let me detect wireless networks or if i unplug the cable an error pops up saying A network cable is unplugged i dont know if i have the right driver(s) installed.

I have checked the device manager for errors and have found none. I have noticed that the BigFoot connenction manager does not seem to detect the network card.
Should I reinstall the card driver and the BigFoot helper?
What software might conflict with the wi-fi card? What services should I check to make they are running?
A few hours ago, I just restored my laptop to factory settings. Once it was done, I tried connecting to the internet but the computer could not detect ANY wireless networks!I already know it is not the modem or router because I have a Macbook Pro and two HP laptops that connect perfectly fine to the modem. I also made sure the wireless is on. The laptop with the problem is a Toshiba Satellite l645. It's running on a 64-bit Windows 7. When I try to look up wireless networks, it only shows 'MOBILE BROADBAND CONNECTION".

sometimes my net will randomly dc and wen i trouble shoot it says "windows could automatically detect this networks proxy" and then when i go to diagnose it says "your computer appears to be correctly configured but the device or resource (dns server) is not responding.

Anyway, I came on here because our computers use a Wi-Fi internet connection and I was wondering how much of my web activity (history, cookies, temporary files, etc) he could see from my laptop if his computer was a desktop downstairs.
