Server 20003 Keeps Dropping Internet?
Mar 23, 2012
have about 40 clients connecting to my server 2003 in my office. We have 2 other remote office so those clients connect by RDP. We have been having a strange issue where users loose connection out side the office but the people in the office say connected. The people that stay connected however can not reach Google or use outlook. When this happens I have to restart the server and then everything works fine. When the internet seems to go down we still can print (in office) and I can ping the server, workstations etc. I however cant ping my sonic wall or my gateway. My isp and I have had runarounds and they swear it is not them. They keep telling me we have not lost connection with them in over 14 days.
I do however want to learn towards a broken nic card or a messed up DNS. When I do nslookup it gives me a time out error and sayscant find server name for address 107.7.59.210Default server:unknown 107.7.59.210..I did not set this server up. The lady who did is no long with the company.[CODE]

I have 2 programs located and running of 2 different servers (both server 2003)due to the nature of the company I work for I cannot say what the progams are. Now how our network is set up is Program 1 runs and server 1 and program 2 runs on server 2. server 1 and 2 and all user pc's are connected to a domain run by server 3. The programs 1+2 are installed on user computers and connected to thier respective servers to run. now the problem is program 1 kicks a random number of users off everyday at 10:15AM and program 2 does the same but at 12:45. its the same time and its every day. I have checked all servers for errors or conectivity issues and have found nothing.

I came across a situation where a client had an old PIX 525 running PIX 6.2. There was a Windows 2008 R2 server running Exchange 2010 that was having trouble delivering email to a handful of email servers. We then found out that we could telnet to these servers on port 25 but got no return traffic. We then went back the old email server that was running Windows 2003 Server and could telnet to port 25 on these email servers and got a response, saw the banner and could issue commands. The first thought was reverse DNS which we thoroughly checked and it was not. I turned off the smtp fixup protocol and that didn't fix it either. From workstations on the network running XP or Windows 7 or Linux you could telnet to these servers and you would get a response but just not with 2008 server. I spent hours on the phone with Cisco support and it was determined that the packets were returning and we could capture the packets on the outside interface but they were then dropped by the firewall. Using the 6.2 version of PIX we could not determine why the packets were being dropped. I suggested upgrading to the next major version to be able to troubleshoot the issue further. We then upgraded the PIX to version 7.0(8). After the upgrade we were able to telnet to the problem mail servers from Windows 2008 Server and there were no issues. Is there a know issue with Windows 2008 Server and PIX 6.2?

I recently purchased a rvs 4000 wired linksys router for my business. Everything works great with the exception of my VOIP PBX server. I can receive a call and make a call one at a time. If a second line rings in and is picked up the first call and the second go dead air. I am sure that it is a security setting somewhere that I just can't seem to figure out. I sure would like to get some direction on this.

I've read all of the other guides about how to stop your internet from randomly dropping out but none of them seems to give me a specific answer. My internet is wireless through a Wireless USB adapter and i have broadband. It is not the USB adapter nor is it the internet connection as this is the only desktop in the entire house that has a problem with remaining constantly connected to the internet. It will stay connected for around 30 minutes before just dropping off for a minute. This infurates me as i have to keep on relogging onto games which require constant connection

ok so the problem is our old modem/router combo finally died after 6 years of doing good. After that we bought a new router and used an old modem, that seemed to work for about 2 weeks problem free. But after that the internet would just drop when someone would play a online game, stream a big video, or after a random amount of time would drop on its own. The connection icon would loose its globe and have two screens with each screen flashing say identifying. after that we got a new modem and still have the same problem. We have two laptops connected to it and they can connect to the router but not the internet as-well.

I keep dropping my internet connection.
I have a NetGear N600 Wireless Dual Band Router model WNDR3400 purchased 4/26/11.
I keep restarting it and it's ok for a little bit but intermittently keeps dropping and coming back. I am in San Diego on using Cox Cable as a service provider, I guess it could also be the modem??
how to troubleshoot to determine if it's the modem or the router?

For the last couple of months we've been having problems keeping a connection to the internet. The green light turns red and everything loses connection while it cycles back on. I've tried everything I can think of and am at a total loss as to how to fix this.
The ISP has been out twice to check and replace all the lines and install a cat 5 line to no avail. I thought it might be an ip conflict dropping the connection so I assigned everything its own address and that didn't solve anything. I have a brand new netgear n300 router/modem that replaced the Actiontec one the ISP provided because I thought that might be failing, no change. The next thing I tried is to turn off and disconnect everything from the network except my laptop to see if it was a certain device causing the problems. It seemed to be going well for about an hour when I lost connection again. The next thing I tried is to hook it directly to the router and turn off the wireless to see if that worked any better, connection still dropped. When the guy was over here replacing the lines, he mentioned that he had just come from another house on our block having similar problems so now I'm thinking maybe they have to fix the lines on the poles. It seems to me that the most likely thing is that the connection is dropping from the ISP to the router, what I could try before I called them up to tell them the problem is definitely not on my end.

As the topic says the internet keeps dropping at what seems like random times, Only for a few seconds but its enough to ruin the games I do play.Sometimes it will stay on local for like 5-10 minutes if its really bad but usually not, I've tried the regedit thing, updating wireless card driver and been searching on google for different stuff but it just doesn't seem to work.

For the past week my laptop will just drop the internet for some reason... it says the signal is strong and that it's connected but it won't load browsing pages and my IMs don't get sent and I don't receive any. This is becoming bothersome as it happens off and on constantly.

I am having problems with my internet connection dropping every day, usually around 2-3 times per day. Internet goes off for a second or two and it comes back. Usually this wouldn't be a problem for me but I am a professional poker player and every time internet goes off, I loose all my active tables in poker lobbys (due to reconnect) which is unacceptable and a serious problem for me.

Recently been taking my Laptop installed with Win7 Pro to a Friends and was sharing his Wireless connection from Belkin ADSL2+ wireless router and notice that every now and again the wireless connection would drop out and the only way to regain a connection to the reset the router. My friends network has two laptops on it connected wirelessly with Windows XP home edition SP3, and a Desktop PC with XP also on connected to router Via Ethernet, also a Windows Home Server and XBOX 360 also connected by Ethernet, My friend since updated his laptop to Windows 7 Home Premium and is using the Wireless connection which now finds intermittent loss of connection which can only be restored by Resetting the Router. why a Router should lose connection just by connecting a Win7 laptop wirelessly or is there more to it than that.

My router at work is working fine, at least for LANing...as for its connection to the internet, it keeps dropping the connection. The router will be connected to the internet for say an hour or 2, sometimes more, and then it drops the connection. Usually a router restart(either from the web interface or by pressing the on/off button) fixes it, but only for a while.

My internet connection keeps dropping when using my router. I will have internet connection for a few hours and then it will drop. I thought it was a bad router (I had a Netgear N300 that is about 2 or 3 years old) so I bought a new Cisco Linksys EA2700 N600 router and the same thing happens. I can connect to the internet through just the modem and it works fine. Is is just a setting or something? BTW, I have an Arris cable modem that is several years old and my ISP is Suddenlink, and am running Windows XP Professional SP3.

Randomly the internet connection for either my, my son's , or my husband's pc drops. This also can happen with the X-box. The router lights indicate it is working and the rest of the connections will be fine just randomly any one of ours will fail until we reset the router. Two of the pc's are wired, one is on a plug (devlo) and the xbox is wireless. I phoned BT, our isp, who sent an engineer out. It turned out the BT rep told the engineer I had reported no dial tone on my phone line and if I had allowed them to investgate this fictitious fault it would have cost me £150 for a call out.

My internet is dropping literally every ten seconds. Sometimes it's more stable, but I don't hold my breath. Websites will basically not load while it's dropped, if I'm on a game, I'm immediately kicked off, etc. And then it comes back on in literally seconds.Same speed, no less. All the while my computer's showing that I'm fine and still connected to the internet.Last time something like this happened, it turned out it was my computer not installing Windows updates correctly. I had to reformat as my problems were beyond repair. My internet was instantly fixed: no more dropping connection, no more slowing down. But I'm having this exact same problem again, and I don't want to reformat again. The reason I mention this is because the day this started, I just installed some new update.

Basically for no apparent reason one day when I came home several weeks ago my wired internet connection has become almost unusable. The connection to the internet severs every couple of minutes, sometimes every few seconds. The only way to get my connection back is to either wait around half an hour and it fixes itself, or to use the ''diagnose connection problems'' in the INternet Explorer tools menu. For some reason this tool fixes the problem nearly everytime, how often I have to use this tool and wait for the internet. I cannot download many important things I need as the connection keeps severing and the download is 'interrupted' (within Google Chrome).I first tried reformatting my whole system, but to no avail. I am running a fresh installation of Windows XP service Pack 3.
I have a cable running from my wall (ADSL conection I believe) that connects into a router. This router is then connected to ANOTHER router via a blue network cable (Im not quite sure the reason for this my step-dad had it set up like this when I moved here. I think it is because the 2nd router does not have a jack that fits the ADSL line coming from the wall). I am wired directly from my computer into the first router. I have tried connecting to the other router to no avail. Chrome generally tells me that there is a DNS error when I try to load a page and the connection drops out. [code] Could it be a faulty router, faulty cables, or a software issue? I have the latest network adapter installed and power save mode is switched OFF. I would like to know if replacing the cables/router would fix things.

I am having problems with my Netgear wireless moderm/router DGNG3700. since getting home tonight my internet connection has dropped out 3 times. The moderm /router is only 2weeks old and I have rang the Netgear technical support 4 times. The man I spoke to tonight said they are having trouble with this model and he told me to get the DGNG3700 version 2. I have changed the configerations and am very frustrated with the whole thing. Should I get a different Model altogether.

I've had the new BT Infinity connection for about 4 months now, and everything has been ok - its very fast. But over the last 2 weeks the internet keeps dropping for some reason. The wifi connection is strong, but the internet isn't working. It works perfectly with Ethernet cable, but wifi doesn't want to work. I've used the inSSIDer program to find a free/empty channel as there are many bt hubs around, but it has no use.

I have seen several posts regarding internet connection dropping. Mine does the same. I have a cable modem in front of the router. The router is setup with two SSID's (one 2.4GHz, and the other 5GHz). So often the connectivity to ENET drops, forcing me to power cycle the router. Other then the two SSID's, the router setup is factory default. I need to debug this. I have noriced that the DNS IP addresses do not show up under setup. Where do I start?

This has been happening for a few months and I have had to reset the router every time and it usually works. I have 3 laptops, normally 2 are used and a roku streaming player connected to the tv. Both laptops are on windows 7 and sometimes the wifi suddenly stops working [sometimes only stops for some devices] even though i am still connected to the my router. Some times, a popup comes up that says that windows has detected an ip address conflict, so I think that that is the problem, but when I try to do ip/release, renew, it says that the media is disconnected to wireless network connection 2 even while i can access the internet.

We have a dlink DIR 615 router that keeps dropping the internet connection. I checked with our internet provider about the connection and it is fine. The desktop has no internet issues just the wireless devices. We run a laptop, iPod, cell phone and tablet. Everything was fine until we added the phone and the tablet.

I'm using a 2wire 2701 HG-B (AT&T). Throughout the day (sometimes even 5minutes apart) the DSL light will turn red, the internet will turn off green and 20-40 seconds later they'll both become green again. It's irritating because it sometimes happens so frequently and causes me to close EVERYTHING I have opened in my browser. If I'm on xbox or an online game, it disconnects completely (even if the light is only red for 15 seconds)I have data error stats .tl;dr: 2wire modem giving me problems. DSL light turns red randomly for 20-40 seconds, sometimes up to twice in 5 minutes.

We recently moved in with some family, and we brought with us a Belkin N wireless Router. I set it up to their existing internet modem (I'm not sure what type it is or anything, I just know that the ISP is Optus) about halfway through January.
It's been working fine until Friday. Since setting it up, both my brother and I have (at different times) been playing Star Wars Battlefront II online. On Thursday night I was playing online fine, with no lag or anything (with a ping of about 138), however, ever since Friday it has been lagging non-stop. I have the same ping so I thought it must have been because we've gone over the limit for the month and the internet slows down.
However, every few mintutes (1 or 2 normally) the connection between my laptop and the network drops, and then within another few minutes connects again. I am running Windows Vista Business. My brothers laptop has the same problem, and he has Vista Home installed.
At first I thought it was a problem with the router, so I updated the firmware and restored the factory defaults, but the problem remains. When I get onto a website (if I'm lucky enough for the connection to stay) it normally loads pretty fast, so I dunno if we've gone over the limit or not (and I don't know the password to check).

I have the unfortunate experience of persistent connection issues with my Comcast cable internet. Periodically (sometimes several times in an hour) my connection dies, and then resumes within a minute or two. It is not a long downtime but it is long enough to disrupt whatever I happen to be doing on the internet (Skype, messaging, online gaming, uploading, downloading, etc.) which can be very irritating. I know enough about computers that I've built several of my own machines, but I am no expert in networking by a long shot...
Here are my internet specs: Comcast broadband with RCA DHG535-2 cable modem plugged into a wireless Linksys router model WRT54GX.
I know the connection issues don't lie with my wireless card because I have two computers and they both drop at the same time. The issue HAS to be either the router or modem (or Comcast), but from all the other posts I've read of similar issues, I suspect it might be the modem.
