View 2 Replies View RelatedMy Sony VAIO VPCEH36FX laptop has trouble staying connected to wireless for long. I've only had it for about a week now and it's been happening since Day 1. It alternates between trying to connect, to being connected but with limited access, to not being connected at all. However, if I unplug the router and plug it back in, the laptop will work fine anywhere from 30 minutes to a couple hours. But after that it goes back to trying to connect/limited access. I doubt it's a problem with the router, as all other devices in the house work fine with it. It's a Linksys Cisco router. It doesn't have a password or anything.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor the past few days my laptop (Sony Vaio VGN-CR353) suddenly unable to detect/find my home wireless network but my other devices (ipad2/ipod) can detect my own wireless network. My laptop can however still can detect my neighbours' wireless network.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had some problems in the last few days regarding my wireless router. i am using a Sony Vaio VGN-NS30E laptop with a TP-Link Wireless N Adsl2+ modem router. ISP = Utility Warehouse. Network Adapter = Atheros AR928X Wireless Adapter.
I can connect via Ethernet, but as soon as i try and use my wireless it comes up with "unable to connect". I also have a Print server running in the other room to allow me to print wireless. I have had all the wireless connections working up until this week (monday).
Called technical support after losing internet connection repeatedly and internet getting slower. ISP know reckons i should be getting up to 11.5mb's per second download, but connecting is the problem now.
Basically when I try and connect to my wifi (netgear router) I get a very strong signal but local only access & an unidentified network. I have my desktop & 2 more laptops running off this router so it can't be that. After failing to connect to wifi I tried to use an ethernet connection to try and update my drivers in hope that would fix the wifi problem. After plugging the ethernet in I was in exactly the same position, I kept getting 'Identifying' appear in network connections which then turned to unidentified and wouldn't allow me to connect to the internet either! The laptop is about 3-4 years old I think so I did update the drivers but that didn't do anything either,
View 5 Replies View Relatedwe have 3 laptops connected to our home network, 2 Gateways and my Sony Vaio. We have AT&T U-Verse and the 2 gateways get speeds of ~12Mb/s while I get speeds of less than 3Mb/s. I've searched countless forums but I can't seem to find the problem. We got U-verse installed in January and the internet on my laptop was on par with the other ones. But I went back to school and came back home for break and it's as slow as mollases.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a year-old Sony Vaio laptop which connected to the internet without any problems on my BT Homehub connection. However, I recently moved in with my girlfriend who has a Virgin media connection and, although I can connect to it without problems, it is extremely slow (around 0.30 mbps) whereas my girlfriend's laptop is fine (9.74 mbps), we both have iPhones which are also fine therefore I'm pretty certain the problem lies with my laptop. I have tried updating the wireless card's drivers (windows tells me they are up to date) and I've also tried disabling my Norton 360 but it didn't make any difference.

I have a desktop computer, Sony VAIO laptop, and a Motorola router. The computers are both running Windows 7 Professional. The desktop computer is running 32 bit Windows and the Laptop 64 bit.
My network appears to be Windows Homegroup which got setup after a crash of the desktop. Previously, I ran a network setup with Motorolas tech support and it ran fine (before crash and reinstall on desktop computer). I had access back and forth between both computers. I would rather not run Windows Homegroup but it looks like I am stuck with it if there is no way to remove it and resinstall another network or unless I can have two networks on my computer.
The error message that I get when trying access my laptop from the desktop is
"Windows cannot access \name-VAIOackups You do not have permission to access \name-VAIOackups"
I have set file sharing on both computers and am running all files as administrator. How can I regain access between these computers?
i just bought a new Sony Vaio VPCSB 490 X Laptop. I should preface this with the fact that my old vaio i had to get rid of because it stopped connecting to any wireless networks (among other reasons.) I had it looked at and was told the wireless card was broken.
My problem with the new one is that i can only get limited connectivity to the network, even though all other wireless devices in the house are fine. Here's the ip configuration i brought up when the computer was connected to the router with an ethernet cord:

View 14 Replies View RelatedMy Sony Vaio laptop is experiencing slow internet speed even though the signal level shows as excellent. This is only when using it upstairs, where it is normally used. In the same room as the router it is fine. This has only just starting happening and it was OK anywhere in the house until a couple of days ago. To make it even more confusing my wife's notebook and my iphone work fine on the network in the bedroom.
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy Sony Vaio was stolen and I dont have any tracking software on it. I was told it can be traced using the serial number this is not going to work as the serial number is not digital is this correct? If so is there any inbuilt device or software ect: that comes installed when you purchase the laptop? I am desperate to find my laptop as it has personal information stored on it of my partner who recently passed away and non of this is replaceable. I would prefer to find it without using the authorities as i know who this person is i just dont know where this person has stored the laptop. It would be best for the authorities not to be involved for my safety.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Sony Vaio Laptop VGN-NS20M and have rebooted it as had a few issues with it. Now the internet drivers have disappeared from device manager. The only thing there related to the internet is under modems. Which has nothing to do with the wifi or the ethernet port.So cannot connect via wireless or the ethernet. Seems strange both have failed. There is no ? or yellow! there, as there is no devices there.I have tried the drivers from the Sony website but they just do nothing, and the troubleshooting from the network icon just says Windows cannot find a driver for your network adapter. Its a dual boot laptop with Vista and Win7 and have the same issues on both OS.

View 6 Replies View RelatedNew laptop, Sony Vaio. At first it started having problems holding a wireless internet connection (kept dropping) now it won't connect at all, wirelessly.I have a Dlink DIR 625 modem which was working perfectly. I bought a new one, thinking this was the issue. Same thing happened. Contacted my ISP, they said the modem was fine (even came out to confirm). It is a Scientific Atlanta modem. Contacted Sony and their tech did a lot of R.C to my laptop and tried a number of things. They couldn't solve it, thought it was a hardware issue (loose wire in the network card) so they had me bring it out of town to be fixed. I did that, they said it wasn't hardware that it was software and that it was working in their store. I got it home and it still didn't work.To be on the safe side, I swapped out the modem and got a new one. Still not working. I followed instructions in previous forums to do a 'stack reset' and it still didn't resolve my issue.I updated the network drivers from Sony's site, disabled AVG firewall entirely and it still doesn't work. I can connect now only by hard line connection but even still it drops. [code]

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought a Sony Vaio SVS15 and all I've done is set up the OS (Win7 Pro 64bit) and thus far, have not been able to connect to the internet wirelessly. I can use the internet if I plug in the ethernet cable but it does not detect any available networks using wireless even though I can connect wirelessly using other devices. I have updated the laptop using Windows Update and downloaded the latest driver for the wireless adapter (Intel Centrino Advanced N-6235) and still have had no success. Also, I have not yet installed any kind of Anti-Virus Software.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Sony Vaio Model VGN-NS20E (Vista) that has built-in Wireless. The PC was heavily infected by Virus and I had to re-install Vista Operating system. The system is now running fine (picture, DVD drive, sound etc )although, it will not detect the Wireless Adapter, hence the wireless will not work.I went to the manufacturer's computer website and downloaded the driver and (I think ) installed the driver on the laptop. The yellow "wireless" light on the front of laptop is not lit, even though it is switched to on.Am I right in thinking it is the wireless network adapter that isn't working and not the driver as when I go to "Device Manager" and look at the Network Drives, it only shows the wired Ethernet option. This added to the fact the yellow wireless light doesn't come on, on the front makes me think it is the adapter and not the driver.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Sony Vaio VGNFW378D that runs with Windows Vista. Ever since I got this computer (about 2 yrs ago), I have had problems with it suddenly disconnecting from the internet. When this happens it could never detect any wireless networks and I would have to restart the computer to temporarily solve the problem. It usually happened after the computer was in hibernation.
Yesterday this happened again, only this time restarting the computer did not solve the problem. When I could not connect to a network I clicked on "Diagnose why Windows cannot find any additional networks" and it said "Install wireless networking hardware, and verify that the correct drivers are loaded".
I went onto the Sony website to download the Intel Wifi link 5100 AGN wireless LAN Driver and updates. The download was not successful and I received a message indicating that the latest updates of this driver were already installed in my computer.
Representatives at Sony only directed me to links that had steps to finding out what my problem was, which I followed with no success. Most of the steps included enabling the adapter in the device manager, uninstalling and reinstalling the driver, etc...I could not do any of these things because the driver does not appear in the device manager at all.
I am trying to add an AP (1231G) with autonomous code (Version 12.3(8)JEC2) to WCS (v7.0.172.0). I recieved the following error:
