TP-Link Dual-Band Wireless :: TL-WDR3600 - Create Virtual USB Port For Printer Controller In Remote PC

When using the USB printer port share function, I found that some PCs, which had never physically connect to a USB printer before, will not have the virtual USB printer port in the port selection. In this way, TP-Link's USB printer controller will not be able to setup the connection. The PC will not be able to use the shared printer from my WDR3600.how can I create a virtual USB printer port in the remote PCs (without need to physically connect a printer to them) or other method to use the shared printer?

TP-Link Dual-Band Wireless :: TL-WDR3600 Windows 7 X64 - USB Printer Not Working

Jan 6, 2013

Region : Spain
Model : TL-WDR3600
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version : 3.13.23 Build 120820 Rel.73549n
ISP : Portal Wimax

I have enabled USB Print Server on the router and managed to print from my main PC (connected by cable to router).

However, I cannot get it to work on my laptop.

I connected my laptop running Windows 7 x64 by cable to router, ran the USB print server software (latest version downloaded from web site). The USB server software sees my printer (Canon Pixma iP4200). It appears in the list to auto-connect but there is an X against it and if I try and set it to auto connect, I get the error "the port of auto-connect can not be a LPR/Raw TCP/SMB port". Apart from the occurrence of the printer I had installed before (so, yes the printer driver is installed), the USB-server printer does not appear in my system printer list.

TP-Link Dual-Band Wireless :: TL-WDR3600 - WDS Encryption Support

Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version : 3.13.17 Build 120508 Rel.45884n

I've got two WDR3600

the first one is the main router:
- connected to ISP modem
- DHCP on
- 2.4Ghz radio to serve WiFi clients security WPA-PSK
- 5GHz radio to link to the second WDR3600
protocol 802.11n only

the second WDR3600 is WDS of the main router:
- DHCP off
- 2.4GHz radio to serve WiFi clients security WPA-PSK
- 5GHz radio to link to the first WDR3600
protocol 802.11n only

All is working fine, however WDS connection works only with security off. WPA-PSK is not selectable, cannot test WPA2, no radius server available, WEP not supported due to incompatibilty with 802.11n protocol. Is this the expected behaviour? How to get WDS working with WPA-PSK encryption? Could this be due to the firmware or s it a limitation of Atheros chipset?

I have portable hard disk connected to one of the TL-WDR3600 router usb ports (another one has printer connected to it)

Write speed is about 3Mbytes/sec maximum.Real disk write speed is about 35-38Mbytes/sec - if I connect it to one of the PC USB ports (both router and PC ports are USB 2.0)Why write speed via router is so low?

My PC is connected to router via cable and is running Windows 7 32bit Ultimate SP1, hard disk partition is 465Gb NTFS single volume.I'm measuring speed simply by coping 1.4Gb file through Windows Explorer to \tplinklogin.net (following USB storage access instructions from router control panel) in first case and directly to hard disk - in second case.

I try to attach an external hard drive to my TL-WDR3600.

The hard drive: TOSHIBA Canvio Desk 3TB USB 3.0 Black Desktop External Hard Drive HDWC130XK3J1 Formatted w/ NTFS, 4kB Block Size (default)

When I attach the drive and click Rescan in "USB Settings" -> "Storage Sharing" nothing happens.Message is still: No volumes found. Plug an external USB drive into this Router, wait for 10 seconds and then rescan the volume.

No entries are made in the "System Tools" -> "System Log" when I attach the drive or click rescan.

The drive works fine on my desktop PC running Windows 8.

I realize that it is a USB 3.0 drive, but I understand that USB 3.0 should be backwards compatible to USB 2.0. In fact, the drive works on both, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports, on my desktop PC.

What are the requirements and/or restrictions for USB hard drives on the TL-WDR3600? The information I found was, that they need to be either formatted with NTFS or FAT32 (FAT32 is not an option here due to the disk size). Are there any size restrictions for external drives on the router? Why are they not listed anywhere (user manual, specifications).

The USB Printer Controller sees the printer as an "auto-connected printer" and I can select the printer as my default to print to. I'm using Windows 8 and checked to make sure the USB Print Service Client Setup program was compatible with Windows 8 before I attempted anything. The HP PSC 2410 printer is on the Print Server Compatibility list so I don't know why I'm having problems.

The error I get each time I try to print is: SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (TplinkUDSTcpBus.sys). One of the draws of this router was that I could hook up my printer via USB and print wirelessly

The 2.4 GHz band works perfectly fine, but when I connect to the 5 GHz band my device is not assigned an IP address and cannot connect to the internet (or even the router configuration page). Unfortunately, I don't have another device capable of accessing the 5 GHz band, so I can't check to see if the computer is at fault, but both the computer and the router have worked together with no problems before, and this computer has done fine in accessing other 5 GHz bands.
