I need to set up remote access to my HDD connected to my WDR4300, so I can always go online when I am out to retrieve the saved files in the HDD. However I have zero knowledge of network setting of the FTP servers, I can gain access when I am home and connected to the Wireless network, but how to gain access remotely.

ISP : I have an external HDD that I regularly use in any computer I have access.It's an HDD enclosure 2.5" 3.0 USB, with a 750GB WD HDD inside. I use it in computers with all versions of USB, even in my TV. It doens't require an external power source, and just have 01 input/output, which is a USB port.After plugging it in the router (running with the last available firmware from TP-LINK - 3.13.27 Build 121207), I entered the setup screen of the router, and under USB Settings, pressed RESCAN, but the HDD wasn't recognized.What happens is that when I plug it in the router, the LED in it starts blinking (in normal usage, the LED becomes red for a couple of seconds, and then becomes steadly blue, when it gets connected into a equipment). It is probably a matter of power, as if the router wasn't providing enough power to it when it's plugged.Afterwards, I've made the following tests:
1) Used this External HDD in 3 different equipments (a notebook, a netbook and a TV), with different versions of USB ports. It was recognized and read normally in all of them.
2) I tested a pendrive with the router. After RESCAN, it was shown normally in Storage Sharing page.
3) I have downgraded the firmware to 120509 version, plugged the HDD in the router, and once again, it was an unsuccessful try.
What I can conclude from those tests is that:
1) My External HDD is working normally;
2) The router's USB port is working properly;
3) So, if both are working, it can only be a matter of compatibility between them.

I have a WR2543ND router and everyday it drops the wireless connection . all the lights on the router stay on and im still connected to the router but it looses the internet connection . the windows trouble shooter says that it cannot connect to the dns server , I have to reset the router and my computer to get it working again . I'm trying to use TL-WR2543ND to connect 50 tablets to my wireless network, but as it establish around 20 connections, no other tablet is able to connect to it.
I've made no custom configuration to the wireless settings of the router. Is there anything a need to do to get the 50 connections?

I have a notebook connected by Wireless and a desktop connected by cable.Sometimes my wireless connection are limited, but my computer (connected by cable) still working fine.I`ve tried to disable DHCP and input static IP address but I didn't work.I have used for almost one week without problem, and sometimes this problems happens three times in one hour.The only way to reconnect the wireless is restart the TP-LINK and my internet modem.I`m using the latest firmware version.

I bought new smartphone - Sony Xperia U, it is with android 4.Until then I have not any problems.As soon as i activate wifi on phone - all wifi on router is down, i cannot even ping it over wifi.Ping via lan interface is ok.Tried different channels, different max speeds, but nothing works.Only everything works if i have switch router to be only B/G.

I want to get cleared is the routers which have USB sharing option like WDR4300, WR2543ND and WR1043ND (I know it's the wrong section to mention this model but I also have this one in my list.). How much users can connect to the USB drive at a time?. I'm talking about 40 or more than 40 users here. Can these routers handle the load on the USB port?. Would there be any problem if nearly all of the users are connected to the USB drive at the same time?

I have a client that has a WR2543ND (House) and WDR4300 (Office/Internet) router that are located in two separate buildings about 40ft apart. He has each one hooked up to external antennas connected on the outside of the buildings. Back in December I got WDS working between the two routers and the PC in the house was able to use the Internet in the Office as well as share resources between the office and house computers. Two days ago I was down there working on his network and I was having problems setting up network shares. I discovered I wasn't able to ping from the Office PC to the House PC or vice versa and what's even stranger, I couldn't ping the House PC from the House Router (WR2543ND). I checked WDS status and on the House Router is says "Run" but on the Office Router it says "Int" but the WDS is definitely up because I am able to ping from the Office Router to the House Router, plus I am able to use TeamViewer to connect to the House computer from the Office computer. There are no firewalls enabled on Windows. Lastly the DHCP server is only running on the Office Router.

I'm having difficullty configuring a USB hard drive to my WDR3600
The WRD3600 is acting as a switch with my netgear cable modem router as the DHCP server. The DHCP server on the WRD3600 is turned off. the WRD3600 is accessible on my home network and I can connect to attached wifi and Ethernet devices.
when I attach my WD USB hard drive, I can see the device on the WDR3600 web GUI USB settings page. The WD hard drive service status is started and enabled. when I click on the open the disk link, nothing happens. When I try to access the 192.168.x.x/volume1 address, I get a page that says the username or password is incorrect.
When I disconnect the WDR3600 from the rest of my network and turn the DHCP server back on and connect directly to the router, i am able to access the connected usb hard drive.
is it possible to have the WDR3600 acting as a switch with DHCP server off and still access usb devices connected to it?

I have portable hard disk connected to one of the TL-WDR3600 router usb ports (another one has printer connected to it)
Write speed is about 3Mbytes/sec maximum.Real disk write speed is about 35-38Mbytes/sec - if I connect it to one of the PC USB ports (both router and PC ports are USB 2.0)Why write speed via router is so low?
My PC is connected to router via cable and is running Windows 7 32bit Ultimate SP1, hard disk partition is 465Gb NTFS single volume.I'm measuring speed simply by coping 1.4Gb file through Windows Explorer to \tplinklogin.net (following USB storage access instructions from router control panel) in first case and directly to hard disk - in second case.

wdr3500 problem with usb external hard drive when I try to transfer files from computer to usb on the router it'll work for small files like MP3. But files like MKV where they can be 1-2gb will cause a disconnect and fail to transfer the file. The whole drive would disconnect and windows will give an I/O error.

I've this dualband wireless router since a week.Now I found out, NFS is working very slow (actually NFS is not working at all).I have a Mede8er and a synology NAS server connected to the TP-LINK WDR3600 router.I have movie directories shared on the NAS using NFS.when I go to the NFS locations in my mede8er it takes very long before I can see the NFS mapping.When I connect the Mede8er straight to the Synology NAS server (Cross Cable connection) NFS is working as it should be.So the TP-LINK WDR3600 cannot handle the NFS protocol?

Recently I replaced my Linksys WRT54G for a TP-Link WDR4300. But unfortunately this did not result in an increased speed.On both the 5GHz and 2.4GHz speed is limited to roughly 2.5-3 MByte/s, which is OK for watching movies etc. but I could reach those speeds with the 802.11g router as well!
I'm using the WDR4300 as access point, so I disabled DHCP server and NAT functionality, left the WAN port empty. And I set fixed IP in the subnet range of my modem/router. (horrible Speedtouch device). All works fine and stable, but too slow.
In the wireless settings I tried the 20 and 40MHz bandwith, disabled WMM, tried to lower the transmission power, tried to set a fixed channel. But all those changes do not have a significant influence on the transfer speed. (both on 2.4 and 5GHz) I'm the only 5GHz access point in my neighborhood, so interference cannot be a problem.
The clients indicate a link speed of 300mbps very close to the router, and this drops to indication of 54mbps further away, but effective link speed remains fairly constant (and stable!) (I find it strange that indicated link speed already drops at 3 meters with clear line of sight to the router)
I did the tests with fixed IPs on two laptops and no devices connected on the LAN ports, to rule out problems caused by the modem/router or other clients.The tests were done using a Lenovo x220 and Asus Zenbook, both with Intel dual band 802.11n wifi interfaces. The Lenovo reaches 22MByte/s via the Cisco access point at my work (with less signal as at home).

I purchased a WDR4300 yesterday and have set it up. The internet is running smoothly although the transfer speed is rather slow. When transferring from my computer to my Seagate GoFlex Home i get about 6 - 8 mbps with Wireless N. The router is set to only use Wireless-N and my laptop has the latest drivers. I have also tried other computers in the house and the speed is the same. The GoFlex Home is connected to the router via a LAN cable. Prior to updating i used a Linksys WRT54GL and managed speeds of about 3 or 4 mbps over its G only connection. As for transfers between 2 computes the rate is about 1 - 3 mbps
As for distance the Wireless router is only about 1.5 meters from the laptop (across the room) with nothing in between them to cause interference. I have also checked what channels my neighbors use (using inSSIDer) and picked 13 as there is only 1 other person nearby on that channel and they are quite far away.

Just had my line upgraded to 50mbit down, and 10mbit up. Whenever the router is between the PC and the modem, my speeds drop to 30mbit. If i plug directly into the modem, I get the full 50Mbit. Upload speeds are always 10mbit.I've tried power cycling devices, and even replaced all cables with cat6 (which I know isn't the issue, but i'm just trying to eliminate everything)

Jan 29, 2013I have just bought a D-Link DWA-160 A2 network adapter and it is really slow.I have been using a D-Link DWA-125 N 150 A2 for a while now and it is faster, getting a higher signal.My new network adapter is suppose to be faster.The only thing I can think of is that the software coming with the adapter never installed. I get an error: Wireless adapter not found! insert the adapter now.Thing is, the driver is installed and I can surf the internet.I did some speedtest net tests and I see that my DWA-125 A2 is faster.

Nov 20, 2011i have a newly formatted (i.e. empty) 2TB WD my book elite which when i connect it to my computers usb port, can transfer a 6gb video file at over 100MB/s according to the win 7 detail box. However, when i connect it to the usb port on the back of the e4200 and try to transfer the same file, it only goes at 8MB/s max ... it appears to be going at usb 1 speed. i've got the latest firmware on both the e4200 and the my book 1111 and everything seems to be working fine for both, except this transfer rate when connected to the e4200.granted, cisco doesn't specifically list this drive as being tested, but the router does recognize it and shows it as usb 2.0, but yet the transfer speed is just too slow.8MB/s is just not workable...i could just connect the drive directly to the computer and share it that way, but connecting it to the e4200 was one of the reasons i bought the e4200.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 - Incredibly Slow Transfer Speeds?

I am seeing something pretty bizarre: when trying to copy files between two computers (both Windows 7 SP1 64bit), both physically plugged into the back of the E4200, I see extremely slow transfer speeds: 1.0-1.1 MB/sec. Both computers are fast (i7-2600K, both using SSDs) and both have gigabit ports (and the 4200's web UI shows both ports in question as operating in gigabit mode).
This is so slow as to be sort of funny. Each of these computers see speeds well in excess of that when transferring between the computer and outside internet sites...so it's kind of funny that two computers plugged into the same switch in the back of the 4200 see 1 MB/second.
Linksys Wireless Router :: E3000 Slow Network Transfer Speeds Over N
Jul 11, 2011I'm having very slow file transfer speeds between the 2 computers on my network. One is a gigabit pc wired (cat6) to the e3000. The other is a wireless N laptop. Both computers running Win7. Speeds are like 1.5 - 2 MB/s. when I connect the laptop to the router with a cable (cat6) I get proper high speed. Trying to figure out if it's a problem with the router or windows or what. Speedtest.net says I'm getting 16 MB/s DL wirelessly to my laptop. Shouldn't wireless N be capable of higher speeds than 1.5 MB/s?? Tests are done approx 10 feet from the router.

I'm using a WDR3600 router, and I'm having difficulty with getting internet access on the 5 GHz band. Right now the router is broadcasting in both 2.4 and 5 GHz as two separate APs. The 2.4 GHz band works perfectly fine, but when I connect to the 5 GHz band my device is not assigned an IP address and cannot connect to the internet (or even the router configuration page). Unfortunately, I don't have another device capable of accessing the 5 GHz band, so I can't check to see if the computer is at fault, but both the computer and the router have worked together with no problems before, and this computer has done fine in accessing other 5 GHz bands.

Mar 7, 2012Im having a problem transferring files to a shared network folder (my server's folder), its transferring files at ~20KB/s Thing is, I can copy files from the server to my computer at 90MB/s.I can also copy from my computer to my brothers computer also at 90MB/s.And copy from my brothers computer to the server at 90MB/s.But only 20KB/s from my computer to the server.My server is running WHS2011 by the way and my computer and brothers computer is running Windows 7.My entire network is wired and tested with a 1Gbit connection. and im using a Linksys WAG320N router.

One PC has a drive bender drive pool on it that I'm trying to read/write from. Testing the pool w/ crystal disk mark on the local pc shows fast speeds (650 MB/s read, 67 MB/s write), so I drive bottlenecks aren't the issue.
Connecting at 450 Mbps i would expect to see something like at least 200 Mbps actual speeds, or is this off? Using LAN Speed test I'm getting 41 write and 52 read. Not great

I've plugged in a USB flash drive and enabled shared storage on my TL-WR1043ND router. With "Access shared storage with password" unticked, I can access the share using both my Windows 7 Laptop and Motorola Defy+ (with ES File explorer) and successfully play any Music off of the network share using the Android App, ES File explorer.
If I enable "Access shared storage with password" and attempt to log in using any of the user accounts I've set up on the device, I will be able to access the shares using the credentials on my Windows 7 Machine, but not with my Motorola Defy+, instead I will simply receive "Login failure". I'm Picking it has something to do with the network share type?
