I can not hold a wireless connection because it keeps telling me that there is a problem with the gateway, i just spoke to toshiba support who have said my wireless has been corrupted internally by viruses.

How to connect to wi fi in my laptop.I tried to power on the wireless by pressing FN+F8 together but at network connection it displays as No connection is available.Secondly I checked the device manager and under Network adapters there is only three driver Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network), Bluetooth Device (RFCOMM Protocol TSI) and Realtek PCIe FE Family Controlleer are working.I also checked the driver of this PC and found one folder named WLAN_B and even did the setup but still not working. I am using windows 7 Professional and 64 bit of OS.
View 5 Replies View RelatedBut i can still navigate around on a computer. So i have a gateway laptop, and a cisco router in my parent bedroom. They have computer's connected into it with a wired connection. My laptop is a wireless one. The connection will drop roughly 10 times a day. And the odd thing is , to get the connection to show back up on my wireless connection lists, i need to restart the router or it doesnt show. Its not a problem with signal strength, and obviously no problem with the router as my parent's stay connected during this. I called my ISP, they told me to call gateway. I did , and after that, i will never in my life associate with anything gateway ever, ever , again. I'm sure its a setting or software issue

However when I got to WPA encryption, the laptop works fine until I leave it in standby or shut it down. In order to connect it after leaving in on standby or a shutdown I need to reset my Linksys router.I have another laptop that never seems to drop the wireless connection, so I don't think it's a router issue, but something on the other laptop.

I should also mention that my Xbox 360 won't connect either, but both of my friend's laptops as well as my phone do connect to our internet. Also, using my phone as a wifi hotspot works intermittently.

It's a Vista Toshiba satellite laptop(was upgraded from XP)About 6 months ago it started dropping the internet and switching to local access only. I've tried to disconnect it and re-connect it but it doesn't work. It stays with the local access only.The only way I get it back is to disconnect it then reboot it. After about a day or two it repeats this cycle.

I am staying with some friends for the summer in a rural area-they no longer have Internet service ( Comcast modem is still in basement--are NOT going to reactivate service). The closest WiFi spot is a mile walk away ( Library at a State College). Every day all I get is frustrated as I try and try to access any wireless networks--Linksys is what keeps coming up--but says I am too far away from access point. The "local computer whiz" told me to purchase a Wireless Card-which I will gladly do IF it will enable me to access wireless networks from home. What, if anything, I can do or purchase to enable me to access wireless from my "rural home"?

Thought it maybe the the router so bought a new one Netgear and its was fine for the first 48 hours and now its keeps doing the same again. Its fine if I plug in the ethernet cable so no the modem and router are fine. Not sure what it is, my Toshiba laptop is probably about 5 years old - is it time for a new one? This problem only occurs with my laptop (other laptops in the house are able to connect no problem) and with this particular wireless box (my laptop has no problems connecting and staying connected to other wireless networks, wi-fi, etc.).
I am able to connect to the wireless but it lasts only for a few minutes before connection is lost, so I basically have to connect to the internet through a ether cable (?) plugged into the wireless box.
I can't work out where the problem could be as the wireless works for other computers, and my computer works with other wireless networks!

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I have a Toshiba Satellite L555D-S7005. When I put it into Hibernate mode (I dont like turning it off, takes too much time) it paralyzes my whole wireless network. It makes it so that anybody else on WIRELESS gets disconnected, and cannot reconnect easily (they must restart the router). This gets very irritating when my brother is on the X-BOX/Laptop and he cannot continue playing games or whatever. If I disconnect my laptop the network goes down for them, but not for me. I can log right back on and connect with no problems. The wired computer has no problems with internet when I turn off my laptop.

Other computers in the house have no problem detecting and connecting.Wireless is enabled, it happens no matter how close or far from the router. The network is set to broadcast the ssid, etc. I have not changed any settings on my laptop or router, this has suddenly started happening. Have updated drivers to no effect.Occasionally, the network pops up when I re-start the laptop. Rarely works and sometimes it will detect the network, then fail to connect, then the network can't be detected at all.

Anyway, I got a new CD for Windows 7 which was burned however, And once installed, I saw I couldn't find any wireless networks at all. It's like as if it's one of those old classic computers that didn't have wireless. So I bought a Windows 7 CD key online from my iPad. I have a Toshiba Satallite Pro L300 laptop.I went to the Toshiba site to find a download for the wireless adaptor but couldn't even find my model number on their system. I can get on the internet by plugging directly to the modem, and my internet provider suggests it must be the adaptor. View 5 Replies View RelatedSince yesterday evening, my Toshiba Satellite Laptop (L505D-ES5025) hasn't been able to register my wireless network, though it registered it perfectly fine yesterday morning. I can only detect the local area connection, and can only connect to the internet via the ethernet cable (which is what I'm using right now).Even when I go to the "Change Adapter Settings" from Control Panel, it won't detect the wireless network that I use. The other computers/laptops in the house work, but this one can't regiester to it, even though it's the closest to the router. When I troubleshoot the problem, the only solution is to use the ethernet cable, but I can't depend on it since the whole point of using a wireless connection is to go wireless.I have tried the Control Panel solution of going to the device manager, but I can't find the wireless network from there. This Toshiba computer also doesn't have a physical WLAN button; rather hot keys are used (though when I use this, it doesn't anyways).I also tried to find the drivers for it to update, but those won't either update, or they do update but nothing happens. In other words, I can't do anything because my laptop can't find ANY networks whatsoever except for the one that is found after I connect it to the ethernet cable.My OS is Windows 7, 64-bit Home Premium.
