I should also mention that my Xbox 360 won't connect either, but both of my friend's laptops as well as my phone do connect to our internet. Also, using my phone as a wifi hotspot works intermittently.
When I do ipconfig /release it says the following:

My desktop with Windows Vista is connected to the modem with a standard ethernet cord, and when I try to plug the same cord into my laptop I don't get any internet access. My laptop is running Windows 7. I have tried powering the modem off for 15 seconds multiple times, but to no avail. I am just trying to make this connection work until I purchase a router.
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy DIR-825 stays on even when I flick the power switch, for as long as I don't disconnect the externally powered Belkin USB hub from it. Some lights do come off, Internet light turns orange, but it stays on. If I disconnect the hub before trying to shut down the router, it turns off instantly.
I feel slightly worried by this because as far as I am aware, a USB client device shouldn't be feeding power to the host. On the other hand, the host shouldn't be accepting power from the client either.
Also, sometimes after days since last reboot, the USB light on the router is not on despite connected devices, and they may or may not appear in Shareport.
Is the CAB-C15-CBN - Cabinet Jumper Power Cord, 250 VAC 13A, C14-C15 Connector, supported on the Cisco Catalyst 3750X/3560X. I need to plug the switches into a UPS PDU, that requires a C14 plug.

It's a Vista Toshiba satellite laptop(was upgraded from XP)About 6 months ago it started dropping the internet and switching to local access only. I've tried to disconnect it and re-connect it but it doesn't work. It stays with the local access only.The only way I get it back is to disconnect it then reboot it. After about a day or two it repeats this cycle.

How to connect to wi fi in my laptop.I tried to power on the wireless by pressing FN+F8 together but at network connection it displays as No connection is available.Secondly I checked the device manager and under Network adapters there is only three driver Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network), Bluetooth Device (RFCOMM Protocol TSI) and Realtek PCIe FE Family Controlleer are working.I also checked the driver of this PC and found one folder named WLAN_B and even did the setup but still not working. I can't get it to connect to my home wifi--it just says "Can't connect to this network" and nothing else. I did unplug and plug back in the router (does that count as resetting?) and it didn't change anything. I just went to the library and it connected to that wifi without a problem. While there I uninstalled all Norton security products and installed AVG Free 2013. Still not working.

Uninstalled the program and now none of the web browsers will connect to internet (have IE, Chrome, and Firefox).I shut down Avast and Windows Firewall, but had no effect. I just got my router a few weeks ago. It's the Netgear r6300 802.11ac, which supposedly has insane speed and great range, although my speed hasn't changed at all and i disconnect more often than with my old router.
When my laptop disconnects my iphone still remains connected to WiFi, even though it's the same distance away from the router, also no other computer in the house has these problems, though they are a floor above me (routers on the top floor).
I think my wireless card is the Realtek rtl8191se wireless lan 802.11n pci-e nic.
Okay so I have been troubleshooting my husband's toshiba laptop. Its only a couple years old, has windows vista, and works fine other than it wont' connect to the internet wirelessly. They have computer's connected into it with a wired connection. My laptop is a wireless one. The connection will drop roughly 10 times a day. And the odd thing is , to get the connection to show back up on my wireless connection lists, i need to restart the router or it doesnt show. Its not a problem with signal strength, and obviously no problem with the router as my parent's stay connected during this. I called my ISP, they told me to call gateway. However when I got to WPA encryption, the laptop works fine until I leave it in standby or shut it down. In order to connect it after leaving in on standby or a shutdown I need to reset my Linksys router.I have another laptop that never seems to drop the wireless connection, so I don't think it's a router issue, but something on the other laptop.

I've owned it for over a year now without any difficulties, but it's suddenly unable to access the internet. The wireless icon in the tray shows that it's connected to the router (a Netgear N300), but that it has no internet access. I ran the Network Troubleshooter and received the message: "Your computer is correctly configured but the device or resource (www.microsoft.com) is not responding."
I thought that it may have been a problem with the cable modem (a Motorola SB5101) or with my ISP (Comcast), but I found that the Wi-Fi was working just fine on my cellphone.I tried connecting the laptop via an ethernet cable (to both the router and the modem), but it still wouldn't work. I tried turning everything off and then on again, and still nothing.I then started the computer in Safe Mode with Networking. In this mode, it WAS able to connect to the internet. I don't know what exactly this means, or where to go from here.
I have a Toshiba Satellite L745, just a few days ago it stopped connecting to the Internet it still connects to the network but not the Internet. It's done this before but normally all I have to do is reset the router. I have tried everything I know ( which being a teenage girl isn't much) and nothing seems to be working. Also as far as I know the computer does not and has never had any problems with malware/viruses n' that stuff.

I am able to access the internet fine with two Dell laptops with XP, and the Wii to play Netfix movies. The Toshiba computer with Vista says it is connected, but I can't access the internet. When I change the network setting to unsecured I can access the network fine. The Toshiba laptop is set to WPA2-PSK when it does not access network successfully.

I have a desktop and four other laptops that are connecting fine. I can't connect with Ethernet or wireless. It just says identifying and when I run a troubleshoot it say "Windows could not automatically detect this network's proxy settings". I have already try many things, disabling and enabling adapter, uninstalling it, downloading drivers, and I try some cmd stuff that I found looking around, but nothing is working.
