I'm looking at a dual-channel wireless-N router that transmitts at 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz, but none of our newer laptops even recognize the 5Ghz channel. Is there a configuration setting to change what frequency laptops can recognize? Looking to put 2 newer modle Toshiba loptops on the 5Ghz channel and leave two other...older systems on the 2.4Ghz channel.

trying to upgrade home network and found a dual-band 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz router. Appears that none of out newer Toshiba laptops and neither of our brand new Asus laptops recognize the 5Ghz network sitgnal. Only PC in entire house that sees the 5Ghz signal is the old PC in the house running Win XP.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've recently purchased the E2500, done the setup but am facing some issues.I'm unable to see the 5GHz channel SSID, I can only see the 2.4GHz channel SSID.Have tested all the laptops and devices at home and all can't see the 5GHz channel.The list of devices are:
a) iPhone 3GS
b) iPhone 4G
c) iPhone 4GS (some sites says it doesn't support, some says it does, I'm confused as a result)
d) Samsung laptop
e) Dell laptop
f) Momo11 Little Bird Edition tablet (Made in China [MIC])
g) No name MIC tablet
Secondly, is there any tips / tricks to tweak the modem to increase the internet speed?
My desktop pc has an Asus PCE-AC 66 PCI card (supports up to 1300 mbps wifi) and is only 5m or so away from the the EA6500 router without any obstructions - yet i cannot connect at 1300 mbps AC wifi. On the EA6500 router, i have selected 'mixed' as network mode under 5ghz (since i have some other devices which connect on wifi N on 5ghz) but if i select channel width as 80mhz, i have issues connecting to the 5ghz network on the desktop pc. The desktop briefly connects and under status it says lan speed as 1.3gbps but then it disconnects and i can't connect again. If i select channel width as 'auto' then no problems, the desktop can connect but lan speeds are only 400-600 mbps. why i cannot connect at 1300 mbps?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have an E3000 Dual Band. On my 5Ghz channel, I can select Auto(DFS) or I can manually select a channel.First of all, what does the DFS stand for? My 2.4 GhZ channel only has Auto, not Auto(DFS).
Second, when I select Auto(DFS), my wireless speed defaults to 144Mbps, and is only a single channel (I can see it in the in SSIDer utility). When I manually select a channel, no matter what channel it is, I get 300mbps and I can see that the signal is two channels (for instance, 36+40). Why Auto(DFS) doesn't automatically select the best channel and fastest speed?
I would like to know how many port channel can i configured in the switch 3750 X ? and if there is a limitation by IOS ?

and i see output "show interface Po4A" up up on switch-1, "show interface Po4B" up up on switch-2
5.- In the show running-config not appear configured Po4A and Po4B. it only show on outputs
6.- Po4A and Po4 was not configured on neither switches, my question is why appear Po4A and Po4B on switch-1 and switch-2 respectively? and why Po4 appear in down down.
7.- I solved this issue by shutdown and not shutdown to the interfaces on both routers, currently all is OK.
we have cisco 6500 series switch and configured port channel on both switches with 2 gig interfaces on both switches.
When we enable the port channel mode to as desirable to the interfaces on both side and applied the port channel to physical interfaces switch will go down and if we remove on any one side switch will come up. we have enabled globally the following commands. [code]

I am staying with some friends for the summer in a rural area-they no longer have Internet service ( Comcast modem is still in basement--are NOT going to reactivate service). The closest WiFi spot is a mile walk away ( Library at a State College). Every day all I get is frustrated as I try and try to access any wireless networks--Linksys is what keeps coming up--but says I am too far away from access point. The "local computer whiz" told me to purchase a Wireless Card-which I will gladly do IF it will enable me to access wireless networks from home. Thought it maybe the the router so bought a new one Netgear and its was fine for the first 48 hours and now its keeps doing the same again. This problem only occurs with my laptop (other laptops in the house are able to connect no problem) and with this particular wireless box (my laptop has no problems connecting and staying connected to other wireless networks, wi-fi, etc.).
I am able to connect to the wireless but it lasts only for a few minutes before connection is lost, so I basically have to connect to the internet through a ether cable (?) plugged into the wireless box.
I can't work out where the problem could be as the wireless works for other computers, and my computer works with other wireless networks!
I don't know if it matters but I am using a Toshiba satellite running on Windows 7.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I have a Toshiba Satellite L555D-S7005. When I put it into Hibernate mode (I dont like turning it off, takes too much time) it paralyzes my whole wireless network. It makes it so that anybody else on WIRELESS gets disconnected, and cannot reconnect easily (they must restart the router). This gets very irritating when my brother is on the X-BOX/Laptop and he cannot continue playing games or whatever. If I disconnect my laptop the network goes down for them, but not for me. I can log right back on and connect with no problems. The wired computer has no problems with internet when I turn off my laptop.
