While there I had internet which was set up by a technician. However, now that I'm back, my computer shows that it's conected to the wifi here, but I am unable to get internet access. Is there perhaps a setting that could have been changed while I was in Peru that is preventing me from getting internet access in the U.S.?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have win7 on an HP Pavilion dv7. I came to my friend's house before, and his WiFi didn't come up as an option to connect to. I unplugged and plugged back in the router, and that worked and I was able to connect with no problem. But today, that didn't fix the problem. I have restarted my computer and the router several times, I have deleted the corresponding wireless profile under "manage wireless networks" list, I have turned off my McAfee firewall to see if that was blocking the connection, I have tried connecting manually through the network and sharing center, I have troubleshooted my wireless adapters (Atheros AR5009 802.11 a/g/n and Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter), I have turned off and turned back on my HP wireless assistant, I have updated the dirvers for the two adapters, I have installed the latest windows updates, I have done all I can think of. And it's not the router, because my cell phone can connect, as well as the other computers in the house, without any problems.

We just switched to ATT and I have a wireless desktop so I am not sure what is wrong. I have internet access, I can browse the web and everything but when I try to install software it gives me an error messgae saying I am not connected. I have tried everything I could think of: I allowed program into firewall, I called tech support, I clicked on non-proxy so it would know, I have messed with the internet options on my computer. 1.) "Connection timed out" in Teamspeak 2. (debug log not really yielding much useful information).
2.) Torchlight 2 reported "Connection failed - Firewall errors detected."
- almost all other online applications work just fine (including voice over ip and games) What I've tried (without any success):
1.) I could connect in either case using my old laptop! Thus it works on a different computer, from the same network, at the same/similar time. Thus I concluded it must be somehow related to this laptop (its a new laptop).
2.) The TS2 server & entered information is 100% working, same applies to torchlight2 - also latest updates installed and of course the game is totally legal.
3.) Windows firewall: all the mentioned programs are on the allowed list. Also check whether its correctly set to "home network". Futhermore I also tried disabling the windows firewall entirely.
4.) No other firewall program in use.
5.) Check all programs I know of which might be related to network traffic (e.g. Qualcomm Atheros Killer Network Manager - disabled it).
6.) Tried both, wireless and ethernet cable connection.
7.) I even tried running the game, torchlight 2, via Tunngle (explained in a layman's words: a program that simulates Lan over the internet).
Some Information about my system:Its a new laptop. Network card is labled as "Killer e2200 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller.Runs Windows 7 and did start out empty: i.e. I installed every single program running on the machine and as far as I know none of them should have anything to do with network. Virus scanner is the lastest version of AVG free (no firewall included).
My hp laptop will no longer connect to the internet thru both a wifi connection or cable connection. I've also tried to do a system restore to an earlier date and it will not let mme do this either

View 4 Replies View Related I have a Dell XPS 8300 desktop. The desktop recently got a virus which caused me to completely reformat the computer. I thought the PC came with a drivers CD but either it did not or I cannot find one. Now that I installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 it will not connect to the internet. I have tried downloading all network drivers, bios drivers and making sure BIOS is enabled but still I am unable to connect to the internet.
What can I do to fix this problem or is there any place that I can purchase the actual drivers CD for my PC so that this does not happen again? I have gone to the drivers and downloads page, put my tag number in and literally downloaded every single driver listed and still it is giving me the "no connection detected" error.
I can use my computer just fine right now, but whenever I need to restart it, when it comes back on the internet is no longer detected. I am connected through an ethernet wire directly to the internet, with no intermediate router or network.
After failing to solve the problem on my own, the only way Ive found that has been after to restore the internet connection is using the Windows Restore centre and restoring it to about a month ago; restoring it to only a few days ago does not fix the internet.
However, also when I use the restore function, immediately upon starting my system up again I get an error message saying that the system restore has failed and that nothing was changed. But the internet now works again.
Im not really sure what I should do to check out the problem further, let alone remedy it. I run Windows Vista, 64-bit. I can provide further info if need be.
Just recently my internet got slow, and when it got slow nothing worked. I can connect to the internet and get on skype and some websites but when i try downloading something it says No internet Connectivity Detected.

Everything but the ethernet is working. I can still get to my routers website but that's it, and I don't what to do there once I'm on it.Is it possible the storm messed up the settings? Or killed part of my pc/modem? On my computer the ethernet light next to the jack on the back is yelllow when its threw my rouuter, but when I plug my modem into it directly it doesn't light up at all.

Laptop connects to AP1 (wireless) AP1 connects to AP2 (ethernet cable) AP2 connects to AP3 (wireless)(AP3 is somewhere in the neighbourhood, i dont know where) Some of the APs or all of them may work as bridges, i dont know since i do not have access to their interfaces. You must realize that I live away from the city and only have an iPhone 4 for a hot spot. It connects via WiFi, Bluetooth and USB. I have found USB quicker, but it doesn't seem to work under Windows 8. So I connect via WiFi only.I have a LAN, based on a D-Link DIR-615 router. This router has a WiFi option and has a Buffalo File server attached to the device that we use as a backup/file server and personal 'cloud'. When I am connected via WiFi and I plug in the Ethernet connection, the computer overrides the WiFi and attempts to connect to the Internet via the Ethernet port. It does know that the WiFi is connected as it is displayed on the bottom of the status bar as 'Internet', but choices to ignore or not check. I have gone to the devices and changed the priority to be Wireless on top and Ethernet on the bottom. This is done via the "Network and Sharing Center", "Change Adapter Settings", ALT-F (to get "File, Edit, View, Tools, Advanced and Menu" options), "Advanced" and finally "Advanced" again.Then put them in the priority you wish. Ethernet still overrides this and times out when I attempt to access anything on the Internet. It works the same on my wife's Windows 7 Laptop. It returns to normal if you unplug the Ethernet cable. Since I wish to have other files available, it is a pain in the bottom to have to unplug the Ethernet cable every time you change over to do something else and I usually forget and have to deal with the 'can't connect' message.It might be a simple solution to connect via WiFi to the router then hard wire the computers to the router, but this hasn't been a workable option. The router doesn't seem to be able to handle that type of connection?
