Can't Open Certain Websites Using Wifi
Feb 24, 2013I currently have a problem connecting to certain websites via wifi using our home connection. We have the same issue with an HP laptop, Nexus 7 tablet, and also with an iPod. We tried connecting to the internet using other methods or using other connections, and the devices worked as expected.For example when using our wifi, I can open the results page of Google, but when I try to go to the website it won't load. I can download using Google play on my Nexus, but I can't access social networking sites on all three devices.

Therefore something is wrong. It is a new HP DV6 running MS sec essentials and MBAM (unactivated). I just set up openDNS to see if it would change and still nothing. I have tried multiple networks and they don't work either.

Mar 18, 2012Unable to connect to certain websites. I can access almost everything except for a handful of sites. So far I've identified 3 sites. umkc.edu, nfm.com, and 7thheavenonline.com. I really need to access the umkc site for school. If I use a free proxy service I can pull the sites up, but with the amount I pay each month to Time Warner I shouldn't have to do this.

Nov 22, 2011As of last night, randomly out of nowhere I was unable to connect to any websites on my laptop, I had lost the connection completely. I was able to re-connect but not use any websites, although I was able to use Skype somehow. So I turned off my router, decided to try this morning to see if there was any difference on my computer instead, and although a few websites now work (like facebook) I'm not able to get onto my AOL email account, or [URL]
I turned my firewall off but there was no difference, I ran a scan for malware but there was no results, I've tried disconnecting everything and re-connecting everything. I've not installed any updates in about two weeks

Nov 13, 2012I have a router at college. An Asus RT-N16. I have DD-WRT on it. I used to own a wrt54gl until it crapped out on me.The problem is: Everything works fine, but I cannot access my colleges website. Like the .edu address. None of it. When I directly connect to the wall I am fine, with the router I cannot go to our .edu site. It just gives a generic error saying it cannot reach the website/address.I have tried everything. Static IP that is linked to my computer and allowed on the network. DHCP. I have done MAC cloning. It used to work on the wrt54gl.

To make a long story short, everyone I talk to can access the sites and I cant my hosting company says its a router problem. I contacted the service provider and reset the router but that didnt fix it. I have 3 computers on this router and none of them work to access the site. D-Link DIR-825 :: Won't Connect Some Websites
Nov 14, 2010Two weeks ago my DIR-825 stopped connecting to some URLs. I made no changes to the router nor did I add any new software. If I tether my laptop to my smartphone, I connect to those URLs without any problems. I connected my cable modem directly to the laptop and I was able to connect to the URLs also.

I've tried resetting my rooter, configured all the settings as they were when working, I have basically gone into my network & sharing centre and change adapter settings to make sure all the settings there are as should be, reset , & config all of those as well, I've also gone into cmd and reset my D-link completelly from the command, and also tried to restore my computer to an earlier stage which did not work either , Now all I can gather is that It has to be a block some where most likely with the rooter , which is blocking access to port 443.

Oct 22, 2012I am connected to the internet fine, but there are some websites that when I try to navigate to them, it just loads forever (White page) [URL] I Also, some download links don't work (Flash, or Skype)I have a DSL connection with a modem and a Linksys E1200 router and I am hooked into the router via Ethernet cable. I have no antivirus software installed and windows firewall is disabled The other computer on the network and my wireless device can access all websites just fine, and even when I plug my pc directly into the modem it. I have already checked to see if the websites are having issues; they are not. Oct 14, 2012I've had this setup for years now, custom ssid and password on my router, altho yesterday my pc said i was connected to "Slayer 2" (my ssid is Slayer) i found it weird so i went to wifi settings and i deleted all the ssids in an attempt to re-connect to "Slayer" thing is now, even tho my pc detects my ssid, when i try to connect to it, it says password is wrong. this is very weird cuz i can connect to it on my portable and tablet.My pc stills connects to other ssids with np, so i think the prob is not my network adapter.I've tried to change the ssid, didnt work.tried to change the password and didnt work either.googled a bit and did the winsock reset commands, didnt work either.currently posting this from my pc which has now an ethernet cable coming from the router.

I was connected to both at one point, and now whenever I connect to ethernet, I cannot connect to wifi either as it makes ethernet the main source. Currently in college so I do not have access to the routers/modems/servers. I have done a chkdisc run, tried different ethercords (Glowing), antivirus, reinstalled drivers. Whenever I run a diagnostic on both the wifi/ethernet it blames it on the DNS servers, which I do not understand why since I was connected to them just the other day.

Jan 10, 2013Problem: My USB wireless network adapter gets a limited connectivity message in the notification tray but no packets are being sent or recieved. It does, however, recognize my network on the available connections list - so it's not totally dead. When I switch to a wired connection I get "no connections available". This is the case even on a new PCI ethernet controller.
Details:Problem happened after installing new memory and clearing the CMOS (to troubleshoot a problem). LAN is working on a fresh Windows install on a different hard drive. Therefore, I've rulled out a hardware failure as the source of the problem.
Device Manager does not list any problems. Everything is recognized. In Network Connections, three Local Area Connections are present and Windows recognizes when the ethernet cable is plugged in. The hardware lights on the wired NIC function properly.Windows Network Diagnostis reports that "Windows couldn't automatically bind the IP protocol stack to the network adapter" and pings to IP addresses like 192.0.0.1 or 192.168.0.1 get a "transmit failed. General failure" message.Everything is set to obtain IP addresses and DNS automatically. Also, I haven't knowingly changed any settings from the time it was working until it/they stopped working.

Where I'm at: I can't figure out why both NICs would be giving me trouble at the same time. It seems like Windows just can't handle anything trying to use TCP/IP no matter what I throw at it. Jul 22, 2011Since thunder caused a brief shortage a week ago, I have been getting this error a lot:So when and how does this happen? Some of the time, all sites work perfectly. The rest of the time, about half the sites I try to visit yield this error. I might be browsing Website X for a while, and spontaneously, I start getting this blank screen error message for every page on that site. Unreachable sites usually start working within ~10 minutes though. Some sites always work (e.g. Reddit and Google, but not always the images in Google Images).If I try this on my laptop, using the same network cable, everything works perfectly. My computer is the only one in the house that has this error, for some reason.I have tried "ipconfig /flushdns", "ipconfig /renew", Google's DNS and OpenDNS, the "repair connection" thingie in Windows XP, restarting the server (well, my dad has), opening sites in Internet Explorer (I usually use Firefox) and unplugging/replugging my router.I haven't had any success although I have twice been tricked into believing that I've solved the problem, since all sites have randomly decided to work for a few minutes (non-reproducable of course).

I ran scans, restarted, flushed the dns and even tried changing it to a public dns (but it wont load though, so i didnt).
