Two weeks ago my DIR-825 stopped connecting to some URLs. I made no changes to the router nor did I add any new software. If I tether my laptop to my smartphone, I connect to those URLs without any problems. I connected my cable modem directly to the laptop and I was able to connect to the URLs also.

I have a BSNL BB connection. When I use the connection directly, without adding TP Link router, all the websites open flawlessly. Once when I connect the wireless router, certain websites for example Yahoomail, pepperfry.com, yepme.com don't open at all. These are just examples, but I'm unable to access many sites which is a bit annoying. But sites such as gmail, youtube, facebook open clean, there are no issues. I didn't make any configuration changes too. I tried it more than three or four times, but there is a restricted access only.
When I connect through my router, GMail, Livejournal, Yahoo and Facebook and some other sites are really slow, especially Google and Livejournal. If I connect directly to the modem, they are fine. I've reset the modem to factory and it's still slow on both my Vista PC connected with a cable and my GF's Macbook on wifi. I clear the cookies regularly, use CCleaner, scanned for adware, viruses. What do I do?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm unable to open a few websites through the DIR-825. I can connect the PC to the ISP modem and these sites open just fine. It's not a browser problem.
I've updated to the very latest firmware and still have the problem. I've also researched this issue and can't seem to find a work-around for this issue.
I have dlink dir-600 router and I want to block access to website [ URL] for only one PC connect to router. i can either block web access to both PCS connected or block entire web access to one PC.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOver the past few months I've noticed that, although my USB adapter picks up a good signal from the router (never less than 65 - 70% signal strength) and stays connected to it I am at times unable to access any websites. It started off happening once or twice a week and could happen for about 5 - 10 minutes at a time but now happens several times a day and can stop me accessing the web even though the USB adapter says that it is still picking up the signal from the router. After a period of time it will just start working again, I don't have to restart the router or anything.I've tried changing the channel to a few different ones after using a utility to see what my neighbours were using but this hasn't made a difference. I'm using a Netgear RangeMax Dual Band Wireless-N USB Adapter. It has the N technology so should work pretty well.The current firmware version is 1.00VG dated 5th May 2009. In the router settings it allows you to search for an update for the firmware however it told me that my current version is the most up to date.
View 7 Replies View RelatedOn my server I host several websites.Last Monday we got our FttH-connection and I'd set up my D-Link DIR 655 to manage our server and other computers.In the webconfig of my router I set up the Virtual Server for several applications (Telnet - 23, HTTP - 80, HTTPS - 443, FTP - 21, SMTP - 25, POP3 - 110, IMAP - 143 and also ports 20, 22 en 81) redirected to my server's IP address.For these items the private port and the public port of each item is the same port number; the protocol is TCP for these items. I didn't change the options Schedule ("Always") and Inbound Filter ("Allow All").
The DNS of my domains (samendienen.nl and some other domains) is set to my new IP-address.May be I forgot some other settings in my D-Link-router.what I have to do to make my websites reachable?
I have 4 computers using the DIR-615. One of them works just fine (windows 7) the other ones (XP sp3) are very slow, one of which is on the wireless the others are plugged in.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI got a new DIR-655 RevB today, and set it all up. It works fine right now in terms of speed, but certain websites (specifically, facebook.com) load very slowly on wireless. I've tried on two computers with different browsers / operating systems and it still loads slow. I also have comcast which I use a linksys router with, and it loads instantly. Connecting through wired works. Also, I get no slow down when connecting wirelessly if I use a VPN. When I do a speed test, I get my full speed, so that's not a problem.
A few things I have tried:
-Changing the wireless channel
-Disabling QoS
-Disabling traffic shaping
-Changing DNS servers
-Transmit only N/G
-Reducing MTU size
-Disable Dynamic DNS
-Disable advanced DNS service
-Connect to facebook through SSL and not
-Turning router off and on again
Also as a side, unrelated problem, whenever I enable a few ports to be forwarded, I can't connect to the internet when either wired or wireless?
In Setup > Parental Control it is possible to set rules attached to specific website URLs. I want to block access from 1am to 6am.
However these rules only apply to websites URL. Is there a way to apply a rule to ALL websites at once? I tried to enter "*" or "*.*" in website URL field but it doesn't work.
Is there a way to block specific computers on the LAN from specific web sites by the domain name? All I can see is that if I put, for example, www.facebook.com, it will be blocked from all computers on the LAN, whereas if I want to block only 192.168.1.3 for example, I have to use the IP address through the Access Control, which is much harder and ****e to some "work around" by the user.

Recently, I noticed that I have trouble connecting to some websites (Twitpic.com, 4shared.com) which I never had any problems before I used the wireless router. It doesn't exactly block the websites but rather it won't load completely (i.e., with Twitpic, I can load the site but not the images; for 4shared I really can't load the page itself).Initially, I had problems updating JDownloader after installation. I tried using our old Edimax wired router, and the JDownloader update worked flawlessly. I also tried loading Twitpic while connected via LAN, and it also worked properly.I'm assuming the problem lies with the wireless router but when I set it up for use I only tinkered with the WPA/WPA2 security for a password-secured wifi connection at home, and nothing more since I can't understand the other features.

View 1 Replies View Relatedi've lost the ability to view live streaming video (adobe flash, i think) on several websites. it happened gradually over several weeks and now videos will not load. the dir-615 has functioned flawlessly over several years but it might be showing its age now. connecting directly to my com cast broadband modem fixes the problem. can i tweak the router settings or do i need to replace it?
my setup: dir-615, H/W Ver. E1, F/W Ver. 5.00NA, two wired connections to X Box's and one to Win 7 PC. wireless connections to several Win 7 laptops and other tablets/phones. com cast high speed broadband with their Norton security suite.

Is Up -> Check if your website is up or down?Says it's up. Therefore something is wrong. It is a new HP DV6 running MS sec essentials and MBAM (unactivated). View 9 Replies View RelatedLike others I see on this board, we've got middle- and high-school age kids whose access to FB and other sites needs to be controlled/scheduled.
I thought the DIR-655 was great, in that it has features that, on the face of it, would seem to be ideal for blocking domains and restricting access.
My problem: I've never been able to get this to work.
I've set up schedules and created lists of domains that I want to limit access to according to the schedules, but the only constraint I've ever gotten to stick is blocking access completely to the router.
*None* of the schedule-based or website-based access controls have ever worked; I'll put the block in place to my daughter's computer's MAC address so she shouldn't be able to get to youtube or facebook, save, bounce the router, but then I go by her room and she's still busily chatting away online to her FB friends.
Based on similar posts I've seen on this forum, this may not be a unique problem.
So in a nutshell, this is what I want to do:
1) Block certain computers (identifiable by MAC address)
2) from being able to get to particular named domains (and any of their sub-domains)
3) according to a schedule that I can create and modify.
My preference would be to do this in the router, but again, responses I've seen here suggest that may not be possible.
I am using Comcast as an ISP and have a standalone Arris modem. I, obviously, have a DIR-655 router REV B with a firmware revision on 2.00NA. I have already turned off packet shaping and QOS. Also, I have set the firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for both TCP and UDP, and assigned static IP addresses to my computers. The problem I am having is that whenever I go to any secure websites, i.e. anything that starts with https, it takes an extraordinary long time to log in and to navigate to any webpages therein. I also cannot upload photos to a website and when I try the Speed-test.net website the download speed is OK but the upload test errors out, it doesn't connect.

We got the router about 5 months ago and it has been good, few losses of connection and you have to reboot which is understandable. The internet is always random so if the router needs reset/reboot its no problem.
However about a month or so ago its started redirecting constantly once you put a website in the address bar. Its not always the same sites either. Sometimes its google for part of the day, some times the site wont work for a week. It redirects me all the time to the D-Link Router Log In, and no matter how i try to access the website im trying to go to, it redirects me to the D-Link.
Unable to connect to certain websites. I can access almost everything except for a handful of sites. So far I've identified 3 sites. umkc.edu, nfm.com, and 7thheavenonline.com. I really need to access the umkc site for school. If I use a free proxy service I can pull the sites up, but with the amount I pay each month to Time Warner I shouldn't have to do this.

I was able to re-connect but not use any websites, although I was able to use Skype somehow. I have a router at college. An Asus RT-N16. I have DD-WRT on it. I used to own a wrt54gl until it crapped out on me.The problem is: Everything works fine, but I cannot access my colleges website. Like the .edu address. None of it. When I directly connect to the wall I am fine, with the router I cannot go to our .edu site. It just gives a generic error saying it cannot reach the website/address.I have tried everything. Static IP that is linked to my computer and allowed on the network. DHCP. I have done MAC cloning. To make a long story short, everyone I talk to can access the sites and I cant my hosting company says its a router problem. I have bought WR841 V8.3. Signal show is good, but i ping to router many timeout or delay when i open some website. Ping only geog when i near router.(some time delay)
can't access gmail or any https sites at all such as fnb.co.za or auction sites ect... I've tried resetting my rooter, configured all the settings as they were when working, I have basically gone into my network & sharing centre and change adapter settings to make sure all the settings there are as should be, reset , & config all of those as well, I've also gone into cmd and reset my D-link completelly from the command, and also tried to restore my computer to an earlier stage which did not work either , Now all I can gather is that It has to be a block some where most likely with the rooter , which is blocking access to port 443.

certain websites couldn't be accessed on any of our devices (mixture of PC's, android and apple devices)After trying everything I could think of and even phoning our internet provider nothing would get the sites to load (Facebook, hotmail to name but two)A friend of mine also said he was having exactly the same problems whereas no one else I know had any problems!.Anyway, after much scratching of head with resetting the router to factory defaults etc the only thing left to test was a direct connection with the modem where all websites worked perfectly!So the problem is 100% the router! Even after a factory restore it still doesn't work with those websites and after talking to my friend it turns out he too has a tp-link router but a different model.
