Apr 6, 2011I have a home network that consists of two routers. First I have my cable modem that is connected to an Apple Airport Extreme Base Station. I tend to use that as the 'n' network for my computers so any devices using n networking connect to that.I then have a cable that goes from my Apple Airport Extreme Base Station to a Linksys E3000 router. I tend to use that as my g router and connect many devices that only have g wi-fi to it.Here is the problem:Because of a couple children that have iPod Touches and Macbooks I like to have them connect to the E3000 since it has great website blocking. I wish the Apple Base Station had website blocking but as far as I see it doesn't. Also, this website blocking has worked great since I installed the router but here is the problem. They frequently have to print items and they're unable to print since it won't find the printer.
The printer that I have is connected by Ethernet cable to the Apple Base Station It appears I have two ways of connecting the E3000 router to my Base Station. The way I currently have it connected is the E3000 is connected to the Apple router through the Internet port on the back. By doing this I get full internet and website blocking but I am unable to print through it. Yet if I connect it to the Apple router through one of it's numbered (1-4) ports, I still get internet, I'm able to print, but yet the website blocking does not work.Since the Apple base station doesn't have website blocking as far as I know the only way I can think of getting around this is to replace my Apple Base Station with another E3000 but I don't want to do this unless I have to.

I have a BSNL BB connection. When I use the connection directly, without adding TP Link router, all the websites open flawlessly. Once when I connect the wireless router, certain websites for example Yahoomail, pepperfry.com, yepme.com don't open at all. These are just examples, but I'm unable to access many sites which is a bit annoying. But sites such as gmail, youtube, facebook open clean, there are no issues. I didn't make any configuration changes too. I tried it more than three or four times, but there is a restricted access only.

May 5, 2011Over the past few months I've noticed that, although my USB adapter picks up a good signal from the router (never less than 65 - 70% signal strength) and stays connected to it I am at times unable to access any websites. It started off happening once or twice a week and could happen for about 5 - 10 minutes at a time but now happens several times a day and can stop me accessing the web even though the USB adapter says that it is still picking up the signal from the router. After a period of time it will just start working again, I don't have to restart the router or anything.I've tried changing the channel to a few different ones after using a utility to see what my neighbours were using but this hasn't made a difference. I'm using a Netgear RangeMax Dual Band Wireless-N USB Adapter. It has the N technology so should work pretty well.The current firmware version is 1.00VG dated 5th May 2009. In the router settings it allows you to search for an update for the firmware however it told me that my current version is the most up to date.

Aug 16, 2011On my server I host several websites.Last Monday we got our FttH-connection and I'd set up my D-Link DIR 655 to manage our server and other computers.In the webconfig of my router I set up the Virtual Server for several applications (Telnet - 23, HTTP - 80, HTTPS - 443, FTP - 21, SMTP - 25, POP3 - 110, IMAP - 143 and also ports 20, 22 en 81) redirected to my server's IP address.For these items the private port and the public port of each item is the same port number; the protocol is TCP for these items. I didn't change the options Schedule ("Always") and Inbound Filter ("Allow All").
The DNS of my domains (samendienen.nl and some other domains) is set to my new IP-address.May be I forgot some other settings in my D-Link-router.what I have to do to make my websites reachable?

Jun 23, 2011I got a new DIR-655 RevB today, and set it all up. It works fine right now in terms of speed, but certain websites (specifically, facebook.com) load very slowly on wireless. I've tried on two computers with different browsers / operating systems and it still loads slow. I also have comcast which I use a linksys router with, and it loads instantly. Connecting through wired works. Also, I get no slow down when connecting wirelessly if I use a VPN. When I do a speed test, I get my full speed, so that's not a problem.
A few things I have tried:
-Changing the wireless channel
-Disabling QoS
-Disabling traffic shaping
-Changing DNS servers
-Transmit only N/G
-Reducing MTU size
-Disable Dynamic DNS
-Disable advanced DNS service
-Connect to facebook through SSL and not
-Turning router off and on again
Also as a side, unrelated problem, whenever I enable a few ports to be forwarded, I can't connect to the internet when either wired or wireless?
