Sep 1, 2011i want to block all internet access on all my computers from the time range of 9 PM to 8 PM. Yes, that gives 1 hour of internet access per day. However, it seems that there are certain rules of the router that won't let me do this. It seems I can't make 2 different policies for PC's within the same IP range (192.168.1.0 to 192.168.1.254) , it gives me the error: "The values you entered are invalid. Please try again."every time I try to do so. And when I try to give the time range from 9 PM to 8 PM it gives an error stating that the end time must be bigger than start time. I am using the WRT54GL with firmware v4.30.7.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54GL - Block Sites Like Facebook During Workday But Allow Internet?
Jan 15, 2013I want to block sites like facebook during my workday but allow the rest of the internet.
The attached settings block facebook as desired during the filter times but after 6:30pm the filter expires and the entire internet is blocked (not just facebook). All of my browsers act as if they are hanging and won't load pages until I disable the filter.
I've also tried creating two different filters (one at a time). The first allowed full internet access all the time and the second allowed access the opposite times of the work filter. But to no avail.

Apr 6, 2011I have a home network that consists of two routers. First I have my cable modem that is connected to an Apple Airport Extreme Base Station. I tend to use that as the 'n' network for my computers so any devices using n networking connect to that.I then have a cable that goes from my Apple Airport Extreme Base Station to a Linksys E3000 router. I tend to use that as my g router and connect many devices that only have g wi-fi to it.Here is the problem:Because of a couple children that have iPod Touches and Macbooks I like to have them connect to the E3000 since it has great website blocking. I wish the Apple Base Station had website blocking but as far as I see it doesn't. Also, this website blocking has worked great since I installed the router but here is the problem. They frequently have to print items and they're unable to print since it won't find the printer.
The printer that I have is connected by Ethernet cable to the Apple Base Station It appears I have two ways of connecting the E3000 router to my Base Station. The way I currently have it connected is the E3000 is connected to the Apple router through the Internet port on the back. By doing this I get full internet and website blocking but I am unable to print through it. Yet if I connect it to the Apple router through one of it's numbered (1-4) ports, I still get internet, I'm able to print, but yet the website blocking does not work.Since the Apple base station doesn't have website blocking as far as I know the only way I can think of getting around this is to replace my Apple Base Station with another E3000 but I don't want to do this unless I have to.

May 2, 2012I have both a Sony XBR52HX909 and a Sony BDP-S580 connected to my router (WRT54GL)via ethernet. When I try to connect to the internet, both show the wired connection as good but neither can connect to the internet. The BDP-S580 also has wireless connectivity, but it can’t connect to the internet wirelessly. I have two desktop computers connected via ethernet and two laptops connected wirelessly to the same router and all have internet connectivity. I have tried the “auto” settings on the TV and Blu-Ray player and also tried entering the network information in manually. I still can’t connect to the internet.

Jun 20, 2012I'm trying to use a WRT54GL with U-Verse. The problem is that the router does not get a connection to the modem. It can't ping the modem, and it doesn't show up on on the list of devices connected to the modem. DHCP assigns an IP address of 127.0.0.1, which is outside the range of the modem [192.168.1.1 ... 192.168.1.253]. The router is also showing a default gateway of 0.0.0.0, and a subnet mask of 255.0.0.0. (And yes, I have released and renewed the lease, rebooted the modem, and reconnected the modem.) The router WAN side is set to DHCP, and the operating mode was changed from gateway to router (the gateway setting doesn't work either, for that matter).

I am wondering if there is any benefit with using an 802.11n wireless router to access the Internet? The maximum theoretical speed of the WRT54GL router is 54 Mbps (802.11g), which is faster than the 15 Mbps provided by my ISP.
I know that 802.11n has a max bandwidth of 300 Mbps, and it would work for intra- house transfers, such as streaming video from one computer to another.
But is there any benefit to 802.11n for Internet activity, such as web browsing, gaming, and streaming video from Netflix.

Aug 26, 2011I had configured the AAA server on CoovaAP and was able to access the internet.I had configured the user name and password as a "testuser" and "password" respectively. With that user id i used to access the Coova AP router and internet.Now i want restore the WRT54GL firmware on Lynksys router. But with the used id and password which i had configured the router is not at all accessible. So i did 30-30-30 reset on the router 2-3 times. Now i can see openwrt login page with 192.168.1.1 IP address. It is asking for user id and password. I tried all the combinations of user id and password, but no luck. I browsed some link on the internet and some people have recommended that default user id as a "root" and blank password. But with that also the router is not accessible. I cant to do much on the router untill i will log in to router. I have spent lot of time on this. How to restore back the original WRAT54GL firmware on my router. Anyhow i want WRAT54GL firmware on Lynksys router
