Linksys Wireless Router :: E2000 Will Not Load Certain Websites Through CM100?
Mar 30, 2012Short version: when running devices through my e2000 into my CM100 modem, internet access is unstable, packets are lost, and certain websites simply will not load. I am using my apartment complex's **bleep** internet (and I have no choice in the matter) which registered the MAC address of the CM 100. When I run through the CM100 directly, everything works fine. What can I do to fix this?
Long version: I have an e2000 router connected to my PC, Xbox, and wireless devices. The router is then connected to a CM100 cable modem. The modem is connected to my apartment complex's internet access. They required the MAC address of the cable modem. The routed showed an apartment complex domain when I went hunting around, but there is no login to it, and I was never told anything else about the connection.
When I run the router through the modem, the internet access is lousy. Certain websites will never load, the connection drops, and packets are lost. When I run directly through the modem, the connection works perfectly.
I note that the CM100 assigns IP addresses if it cannot get any from the ISP, and there appears to be no way to turn it off. I have tried disabling DHCP on the router, but it did not work. I have changed the router's IP address, but that did not work. I have even tried turnign the router into a simple wireless access point, but that did not work. The modem is at 192.168.100.1, while the router is on 192.168.1.1. Should I change my router's location to 192.168.100.x?

Once the time kick in, the E2000 will not route any internet access for any internal IP until the unit is power off and power on reboot.If that rule is disabled. then the E2000 will route all days and nights with no problem.Updated firmware to 1.0.0.4 already.I replaced the WRT45 because of the same problem a year ago. Apr 6, 2011I have a home network that consists of two routers. First I have my cable modem that is connected to an Apple Airport Extreme Base Station. I tend to use that as the 'n' network for my computers so any devices using n networking connect to that.I then have a cable that goes from my Apple Airport Extreme Base Station to a Linksys E3000 router. I tend to use that as my g router and connect many devices that only have g wi-fi to it.Here is the problem:Because of a couple children that have iPod Touches and Macbooks I like to have them connect to the E3000 since it has great website blocking. I wish the Apple Base Station had website blocking but as far as I see it doesn't. Also, this website blocking has worked great since I installed the router but here is the problem. They frequently have to print items and they're unable to print since it won't find the printer.
The printer that I have is connected by Ethernet cable to the Apple Base Station It appears I have two ways of connecting the E3000 router to my Base Station. The way I currently have it connected is the E3000 is connected to the Apple router through the Internet port on the back. By doing this I get full internet and website blocking but I am unable to print through it. Yet if I connect it to the Apple router through one of it's numbered (1-4) ports, I still get internet, I'm able to print, but yet the website blocking does not work.Since the Apple base station doesn't have website blocking as far as I know the only way I can think of getting around this is to replace my Apple Base Station with another E3000 but I don't want to do this unless I have to.

Aug 21, 2011I can connect to my router but either way it seems like i can't get any internet access (both wireless and by cable): url...I have tried the steps that the linksys FAQ suggests shall fix this problem, but this has not worked. I have also tried to reset the router without any luck. I know it its not the modem that is causing the problem because I'm wired to it now.On the E2000 every light is blinking as it should be (hence the FAQ) so it indicates that there might be a problem with the connection between the router and the computer (tested on other computers too without success).
