I would like to set the router's dns entries but I don't see how to do that. Basic setup page has DNS setep for the DHCP scope but I don't want to push dns to my pc's. What I am looking to do is to use an alternate dns to what my service provder pushes and still have the abliity to route on my internal network.

My E1500 enters a state where the LAN-side (broadcast, etc.) works, but the WAN-side (internet connection) just goes away. If I go unplug and replug the E1500 the internet connectivity comes back.When this happens, the wireless indicator on my desktop (Dell with Intel wifi) says I have an internet connection, but I clearly don't.
View 2 Replies View RelatedDevice: Linksys E1500 - firmware: 1.0.01? I've got a static IP setup for a small remote office and want to keep tabs on their internet connection by pinging it via a monitoring program we use. However, the router seems to not responding to ICMP.
- Filter Anonymous Internet Requests is unchecked.- I've verified that the Static IP is correct.
- I've tried pinging from several remote locations on different connections, with no avail.
I can't seem to figure out why i can't ping this device. I just want to make sure there isn't a setting in the wireless router that is preventing echo replies.The only other thing i can assume is that Comcast is filtering ICMP on their side of the WAN connection.EDIT: Here's a traceroute from my PC to the WAN side of the Linksys....

View 1 Replies View RelatedIt's been a pretty darn good router for about 8 months now, then today one of the wireless connected PC's started to go intermittent internet, and then dropped the connection.
At first I thought it was the PC, but after checking other connected items (wii, PS3, another pc, 2 ipods, and 2 printers) I discovered all the wireless connections were dropped, and no one could see the SSID. An hour unplugged fixes nothing. 2 wired ports are working fine though.
When it's uplugged and then plugged in, all the little lights come on, then go out, and then, only the 2 wired port lights come on, nothing else.
I am using Linksys E4200 wireless router. I connected two machines, this way.

On the Linksys E4200, the Internet wired connection side, I gave static IP address which is in the same network range as that of LAP2.When tried to ping from LAP1 to LAP2, ping doesnot happen. Any settings by which I can ping from LAP1 to LAP2.
My Linksys WRT110 doesn't seem to have the range to make it to the other side of the house. What range expander is compatible?
View 5 Replies View RelatedE3200 works great until I enable QoS. The device uses QoS and works find until reboot. If QoS is enabled and the device is rebooted, its stops routing from LAN side to Internet side. Administration-->Diagnostics allow me to ping/trace route to Internet sites and local LAN clients but cannot reach Internet from local LAN.
Windows networking icon indicates "No Internet access". I can ping other devices on local LAN.
Disabling QoS restores routing and you can re-enable QoS after that and all is well. Unfortunately, if there is a power failure when I', not there to disable/re-enable QoS afterward, other household members can't use the Internet till I get home.
Wondering if any other QoS users have observed the same problem.
I have an E4200 functioning with a new Comcast/XFinity cable modem on the public IP (Internet) port. That modem provides a DHCP address to the router (currently 50.129.x.x./255.255.254.0) The problem is that this new setup is leaking COMCAST DHCP responses through the E4200 to my WiFi clients. Most of the clients (newer iPODs, laptops) are smart enough to behave correctly and use Wifi Protected Setup. This problem means that one older iPOD seems to be receiving the Comcast DHCP (as 192.168.33.0/24 range) instead of E4200 Wifi DHCP range (as 192.168.1.0/24 range). I imagine the most direct solution is to pull the public connection briefly and allow the iPOD to fetch a valid WiFi DHCP from the remaining DHCP server on board the E4200. HOWEVER, I'd like to configure the router to suppress all DHCP packets from the Comcast network - or otherwise make sure the WiFi clients only receive DHCP from the router and not the Comcast modem.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI can connect to my router but either way it seems like i can't get any internet access (both wireless and by cable): url...I have tried the steps that the linksys FAQ suggests shall fix this problem, but this has not worked. I have also tried to reset the router without any luck. I know it its not the modem that is causing the problem because I'm wired to it now.On the E2000 every light is blinking as it should be (hence the FAQ) so it indicates that there might be a problem with the connection between the router and the computer (tested on other computers too without success).

This 'should' work fine, I just seem to be having an issue where the ASA seems to be blocking traffic from the voice network as it passes through.So here is the LAN setup:ASA: 1.1.1.1UC540: 1.1.1.2The UC has a voice vlan 10.1.1.1/24 and a service module at 10.1.10.1/30My PC uses the ASA as its default gateway, 1.1.1.1The ASA then has static routes to the UC networksRoute 10.1.1.1/24 1.1.1.2Route 10.1.10.1/30 1.1.1.2Ping from PC to the UC networks works fine. However, ping from the UC networks to PC fails. ASA logs show traffic being denied due to not having an established connection or something.My guess is that the traffic is being blocked because the egress and ingress paths are different? Traffic from the PC goes to the ASA, then gets routed to the UC and it works. However in the other direction, traffic from the UC is going directly to the PC and bypassing the ASA, because its a directly connected network and doesn't have to route through the ASA to get to the PC. The reply traffic from the PC DOES go through the ASA following its route table, thus the issue of the ASA not seeing the established connection?Same-security inter and intra interface is enabled.So I think I see the issue, I just don't know how to fix it. Is there something I can configure on the ASA to allow for this? My only other option would be to configure a /30 on a new vlan to handle the routing between the UC and ASA or something, but that seems like its going to make this simple setup way too complicated with extra networks, vlans, trunks, etc.I am running ASA version 8.4.5?

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy internet cut out last week and after calling my ISP I found out it was in fact my router that was causing the problem (regular connection to PPOE works fine). I've only had my E2000 about 2-3 months and have not had any problems with it. I've restarted the router, done a factory reset, upgraded the firmware, renewed the IP and still I cannot get any connectivity. I can access the router UI fine and I get a response from pinging it and also I have tried replacing the cables but that didn't fix the problem either.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using E2000 currently and meet a wireless connection problem. The speed can up to 300M bps. When I confiured the E2000 to band auto (20-40mhz) and my wireless network card to work at also auto (20-40) mode, it always down to 144M speed when connection.
If I changed some settings in E2000's wireless configuration, in the status sheet I can see it works at 40MHZ. But after a while,(5-10 mins) it automaticly down to 20MHZ and my labtop connect only got a 144M speed.
how can I deal with that to make it always keep at 300M connection? Note the previous router I used to connect to my lattop can always keep that speed.
I have a BEFSR41 (wired) router. On the LAN side, I'm using all static IPs, and have the local DHCP server turned off. On the WAN side, I'm using DHCP. When I plug my laptop (which runs Windows 7, and has a static IP set up) into the router, sometimes I can't connect to any hosts on the WAN side, even though other machines on the LAN side can connect to hosts outside. If I run Wireshark, I see the following happening over and over. [code] When this occurs, the laptop can nevertheless connect to the embedded web server running on the router, and, there, I can tell the router to release and renew its WAN-side DHCP lease.

It worked fine until one day, without any change at all, it simply stoped working. I mean, I can still connect through my wifi laptop connection (it shows connected to my router and says that I have an excelent signal). But, I can't reach the internet. But, If I unplug the internet cable, and plug it in my laptop, the connection works fine. A friend told me that this could be caused intentionally by the internet provider, that they would block my signal to avoid me using a wireless router, trying to force consumers to sign their own wireless service. Thus, by this friend advice, I've cloned my laptop's MAC address to the router. It didn't work either.
I have a Cisco E2000. When i connect to my cable modem directly, I get 30-35 MBps down and about 10 up. When I plug in to my E2000 it does that at first... but slowly over time, the speed degrades, usually down to about 5-6 down and 3-4 up. If I unplug the router, it typically restores full speed, but not for long (a few days maybe). Also, when I unplug the router, it is pretty hot.

I have an E2000 router that has an intermittent issue where Bonjour drops out. Suddenly my Apple TV won't see my computers, and my iPad won't see my network printer. This happens whether the Apple TV and computers are connected via wired or wireless interfaces.
Restarting the devices does not solve the issue.

My router is version 1.0, with 1.0.04 firmware.
I have a e2000 router and a wmp600n wireless card in my desktop pc. Everything works fine until I enable 40 mhz for faster speeds in the e2000 router. When I do this the router switches from 20 mhz to 40 mhz and I get the faster speed. But the effect of this is that my pc gets all "choppy". What I mean is that everything freezes up every few sec. For example when im minimizing windows, the windows freeze half way for about a sec then unfreezes. My mouse does the same thing, even my sound is choppy. I have to switch my router back to 20 mhz and then everything is fine again.
Using windows 7 64 bit
Using newest dirvers and firmware from Linksys.

Also, I have an XBox 360 connected via ethernet cable. Her MacBook however is constantly not getting an IP. I set her up with an EZ Key, but every time she connects we have to go through the EZ key process where I run Cisco Connect from my laptop. Why can't she just log in every time? This is frustrating me as all other aspects of this router work fine. I had her plugged into it as well with no problems. Again, it works after a dual computer Cisco Connect cycle, but my computer isn't always home.

First I thought it's the server problem and let it go. This morning it's the same probelm. I called my local cable technician and he told me it's the wifi router is blocking the website. View 1 Replies View RelatedE2000-RM router has been working fine until about 2 days ago. Wired connection still works fine, but the wireless signals seems to be dropping in and out. I have a couple wireless devices and they all seem to be experiencing problems. Using the network connection bar on my laptop sometimes it shows a strong signal and connects no problem. Then all of a sudden the signal is gone (drops off list). It can be both the main and guest signal dropping, other times it might just be the main, etc., etc. Sometimes it shows a signal but will not connect and then a few seconds it might connect, or drop entirely. I guess the best word to describe it is highly erratic. Distance does not seem to matter. I can be 2 feet away and get the same behavior. The indicator on the box shows a signal at all times.
