I got a refurbished E2000 on Amazon. Last night I set it up and when I tried accessing this website [URL], I could not connect to the server. First I thought it's the server problem and let it go. This morning it's the same probelm. I called my local cable technician and he told me it's the wifi router is blocking the website. I called the CISCO guys and they refused as it was out of warranty.

After a period of time the entire house goes off line. I have to reboot the power on e2000 router and then disable the access restrictions. System then works. Problem is repeatable. What is the deal. I have updated firmware already. Otherwise the system works great. Never dies. Just when i set access restricions for a SPECIFIC time it kills entiore houese. BTW i can deny him outright 24/7 and the system idsables his access fine. Its just when i set specific times
I have a Linksys E2000.
It worked fine until one day, without any change at all, it simply stoped working. I mean, I can still connect through my wifi laptop connection (it shows connected to my router and says that I have an excelent signal). But, I can't reach the internet. But, If I unplug the internet cable, and plug it in my laptop, the connection works fine. A friend told me that this could be caused intentionally by the internet provider, that they would block my signal to avoid me using a wireless router, trying to force consumers to sign their own wireless service. Thus, by this friend advice, I've cloned my laptop's MAC address to the router. It didn't work either.
I can connect to my router but either way it seems like i can't get any internet access (both wireless and by cable): url...I have tried the steps that the linksys FAQ suggests shall fix this problem, but this has not worked. I have also tried to reset the router without any luck. I know it its not the modem that is causing the problem because I'm wired to it now.On the E2000 every light is blinking as it should be (hence the FAQ) so it indicates that there might be a problem with the connection between the router and the computer (tested on other computers too without success).
View 9 Replies View RelatedJust a day or two ago I was able to do what the title says, didn't make any adjustments to my E2000 while in it, had to find something though.Anyhow, connecting to http://192.168.1.1 results in "Unable to Connect", etc. Also tried it in IE9, Firefox Beta is my primary, and it still didn't work. Tried using Cisco Connect and it says it cannot connect to my router. I am wired to my E2000, which in turn is wired to my DSL modem (Actiontec GT701D-Its firewall not in use). I sitll have full connection to the internet as well as other wireless deveices do in my house.

I can't get these on the network through the e2000. They can access the internet through the e2000 but only as a guest and therefore don't have the same level of security. What do I need to do to successfully put the above devices on the network?
E2000 about a years old.One of the rule is to block internet access from 1am to 4am for certain internal IPs.Working fine until a week ago. Once the time kick in, the E2000 will not route any internet access for any internal IP until the unit is power off and power on reboot.If that rule is disabled. then the E2000 will route all days and nights with no problem.Updated firmware to 1.0.0.4 already.I replaced the WRT45 because of the same problem a year ago. Now just about a year, this E2000 keeps blocking all traffic.

Friday morning was the last time I could connect to this page. I cannot hit it via web, ssh, or ftp or ping. I can view it at work and on my 3g internet. But no more from home. I have determined that it has to be the router (straight connection into cable modem and I'm in). I've reboot the router and even restored to factory spec, neither works.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI use a E2000 as a wireless access point to the Internet, by connecting the LAN of the E2000 (set for x.x.x.5) to the LAN of an RVS4000 (Set for x.x.x.1). The E2000 is set for Automatic Configuration, and everything works fine..... Until a power failure occurs... Then, after everything boots up again.. I get the "NO INTERNET" prompt on the wireless....
By using Ping Plotter, from a computer on wireless end, and another computer with Ping Plotter on the wired side of the x.x.x.1 LAN, I've determined that it's the E2000 that has disconnected from the RVS4000.
I have found a work-around, though....No matter How the setting boots up, If I toggle away from and then BACK TO: NAT DISABLED in Advanced Routing, Everything is back operational..... Until the next Power Failure....
Is there any way of making this Automatic.
In another forum, there was a suggestion of putting the E2000 in Bridge mode in WAN settings... I can't find it....
I just purchased 2 E2000 routers at BB and was assured the second one could be configured as a repeater access point. Some current messages indicate this is not possible.Will a Cisco moderator please confirm and clarify repeater options.

The problem is that this only allows for one LAN connection at a time (an issue for LAN parties and such). I do have an E2000 Linksys router however and I want to be able to use that as like a switch/access point.I am pretty sure this is possible but I have forgotten all of the steps to do it.The att modem/router is running on 192.168.1.254, and my Linksys which is now directly connected is on 192.168.1.1, so I have a different address in that regards.Do I need to edit my Linksys settings now, or do I have to edit the at&t settings?Also I will be using this for Xbox Live at points so will I need to re-open all those ports up on my Linksys, or at least set the DHCP to the Xbox's static IP to keep my NAT good?

I thought that the problem could be with Comcast, but I tested my Mac with a cable directly connected into the cable modem and it worked fine. I was able to access every site.
It could be a problem with browser security, but I even tested with different computers (Mac, PC's, Ipad, Smartphones) and none of them were able to access the [URL] wirelessly.
It seems something strange with the router. I tested some forum solutions (MUT, QoS) but they didn't work.
I have an E2000 router with the most current firmware. I have a Sony VAio laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit,a Macbook with 10.6.8, and a new Asus Transformer Prime with ICS.My work desktop is a Dell Optiplex 380 with Windows 7 Pro 32bit. I frequently work from home and have no issues remoting into to my work PC from by Sony laptop via VPN and RDP.However I have never been able to connect successfully to my work PC with my Macbook(using Remote Desktop Connection 2.1 for Mac OS) or Asus tablet(using WYSE Pocket Cloud RDP app for Android). I can however connect to the VPN itself on the Macbook and tablet without issue same as my Windows laptop. The other interesting part is I can connect via RDP when I am connected to a Mi-Fi 3g hotspot. So it is definitely something in the my Linksys E2000 blocking the connection for some reason. I have even set Port forwarding of 3389 with the ip's of both the Macbook and Asus tablet.I have also tried connecting via ethernet to the router with the same outcome. I cannot ping my work pc from either device as well.In addition the firewall on my work PC is completely disabled and all services related to Remote desktop access are enabled and running.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've got a Linksys E2000 router and a Brother MFC-7840W wireless printer and they don't seem to want to play nice together. The set-up process was fine and I can usually print wireless without a problem, but every so often I'll try to print and my computer will say that the printer is offline. Other computers on my network also show it as offline. The printer confirms it has an IP address, but even after power cycling it won't be picked up by my machines. I've even tried a full reset of the printer and re-configured it, at which point it is able to successfully obtain an IP address, but it still shows as offline on my PCs.
The only solution I have found is to powercycle the router. This always works. Now that's not a terribly inconvenient workaround most of the time, so I've been doing that for a few months now. It obviously implicates the router as the point of failure, but wireless internet access is not affected when the printer appears to be offline, so obviously some packets are getting through normally.

View 1 Replies View RelatedBecause of limited budget and a paranoid boss, the MS Access database at work is running through a simple Linksys wireless E2000 N router rather than a more dedicated server setup.A desktop server PC is storing the Access database and 3-4 laptops are connecting to the split database linked tables via laptop wireless N adapters only.Upon having several people accessing and updating records we've noticed a huge amount of instability frequent network interruptions.I have several theories/observations:
1) While not an ideal location (one end of the building), signal strength is consistently shown as 4/5 bars to 5/5 bars, even through several walls
2) Interference: Several other routers, all on 2.4Ghz could be creating too much interference. (none of the laptops support 5Ghz)
3) Number of individuals accessing the database at one time. This is where I'm unclear. Could having 3-4 people working on the database at once pose any potential problems? I'd ordinarily think not but I am coming up short with explanations.
Last week two of us were working with the database, updating records and such, from probably 100 ft or more away with no issues. Then the last few days just to stay connected requires being within 5-10 feet of the router AT MOST. No settings have been changed and network disconnects/interruptions in Access are happening every few minutes.
I would like to set the router's dns entries but I don't see how to do that. Basic setup page has DNS setep for the DHCP scope but I don't want to push dns to my pc's. What I am looking to do is to use an alternate dns to what my service provder pushes and still have the abliity to route on my internal network.

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy internet cut out last week and after calling my ISP I found out it was in fact my router that was causing the problem (regular connection to PPOE works fine). I've only had my E2000 about 2-3 months and have not had any problems with it. I've restarted the router, done a factory reset, upgraded the firmware, renewed the IP and still I cannot get any connectivity. I can access the router UI fine and I get a response from pinging it and also I have tried replacing the cables but that didn't fix the problem either.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using E2000 currently and meet a wireless connection problem. The speed can up to 300M bps. When I confiured the E2000 to band auto (20-40mhz) and my wireless network card to work at also auto (20-40) mode, it always down to 144M speed when connection.
If I changed some settings in E2000's wireless configuration, in the status sheet I can see it works at 40MHZ. But after a while,(5-10 mins) it automaticly down to 20MHZ and my labtop connect only got a 144M speed.
how can I deal with that to make it always keep at 300M connection? Note the previous router I used to connect to my lattop can always keep that speed.
I need to extend the wireless range over what I have using an E2000. Can I use a WAP610N in repeater mode? If not can I use a WAP54G knowing that there will be a performance loss? Is there another option to add additional coverage to the existing wireless network?

I reset the router and now it won't let me connect. I have followed advice given to soembody else on here and went into router settings and cloned the mac, the IP address was there and reset my security settings. When I plug in to my E2000 it does that at first... but slowly over time, the speed degrades, usually down to about 5-6 down and 3-4 up. If I unplug the router, it typically restores full speed, but not for long (a few days maybe). Also, when I unplug the router, it is pretty hot.
