Linksys Wireless Router :: E2000 Connected To RVS4000 As Access Point

Feb 26, 2012

I use a E2000 as a wireless access point to the Internet, by connecting the LAN of the E2000 (set for x.x.x.5) to the LAN of an RVS4000 (Set for x.x.x.1).  The E2000 is set for Automatic Configuration, and everything works fine..... Until a power failure occurs... Then, after everything boots up again..  I get the "NO INTERNET" prompt on the wireless....
By using Ping Plotter, from a computer on wireless end, and another computer with Ping Plotter on the wired side of the x.x.x.1 LAN,  I've determined that it's the E2000 that has disconnected from the RVS4000.
I have found a work-around, though....No matter How the setting boots up, If I toggle away from and then BACK TO: NAT DISABLED in Advanced Routing, Everything is back operational.....  Until the next Power Failure....
Is there any way of making this Automatic.
In another forum, there was a suggestion of putting the E2000 in Bridge mode in WAN settings... I can't find it....

Linksys Wireless Router :: Using An E2000 As Repeater / Access Point?

Aug 3, 2011

We have a wireless network and would like to extend the range for it and I was told that a E2000 could be setup to extend the range. If we say that our existing wireless network has the SSID network1, can the E2000 be setup so that it is connected to a LAN socket and then wok as a wireless runter with the same SSID (network1) so that pc's can connect easily ?Or must the two wireless routers be connected with a dedicated cable ?Or must I setup the new E2000 up as a new wireless network with a new SSID like network2 ?

Linksys Wireless Router :: Turning E2000 Into Access Point / Switch?

Dec 6, 2012

we got a At&T Modem/Router upstairs, and then we got a long ethernet cable running from there to the basement. The problem is that this only allows for one LAN connection at a time (an issue for LAN parties and such). I do have an E2000 Linksys router however and I want to be able to use that as like a switch/access point.I am pretty sure this is possible but I have forgotten all of the steps to do it.The att modem/router is running on, and my Linksys which is now directly connected is on, so I have a different address in that regards.Do I need to edit my Linksys settings now, or do I have to edit the at&t settings? Also I will be using this for Xbox Live at points so will I need to re-open all those ports up on my Linksys, or at least set the DHCP to the Xbox's static IP to keep my NAT good?

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2000 - PS3 Error / Ethernet Cable Is Not Connected

Nov 19, 2011

Problem: My PS3 displays An Ethernet cable is not connected almost immediately after logging in. I am connected through a Linksys E2000 router.  If I reset the cable modem, it will work for 10-15 minutes until it errors out again.  If I plug the PS3 directly into the cable modem, it works fine. I'm really confused. I do not believe it is the router, as my computer is also connected to the router, and works fine. My Touchpad is connected wirelessly and also works fine. I do not believe it is the PS3, because it works fine if I plug it directly into the cable modem. I tried switching to wireless and it finds a lot of other signals (including mine), but I have the same problem if I choose wireless.I first had this problem with a launch PS3 and a Netgear router after almost three years of no problems.

Linksys Access Point :: WAP610N No Devices Connected To Wireless

Jul 21, 2011

I have a big house so I have a e4200 on one end of the house upstairs and the WAP610n on the other end downstairs linked via CA6.  I am having no issues with Laptops etc..just with Apple devices.  I spent a lot of time with chat support (waste of time).  WAP was flashed with latest firmware via hard wire no devices connected to wireless, has same ssid and security settings as router running on 2.4 ghz wpa2 personal AES.  I am using 2.4 due to iphone4 does not support 5ghz and wap does not support dual band (another bummer). I am using AES instead of TKIP/AES mixed mode due to apple devices will not acquire dhcp with this setting and if they do they lose it right away.  I have tried everything imaginable with the settings even changed beacon to 75, 50 RTS to 2304 etc...the current setting are the only ones that seem to work the best however when i run LA server or SD server the performance is horrible.  On windows laptop i can achieve 27mbps down 2.5mbpsup, my apple devices use to achieve very close numbers to that on a simple configuration with two Dlink DGL-4300's one as router one as AP (G mode).  So two major issues i have noticed is WAP610N has issues passing DHCP to apple devices and has extremely poor performance.  So my question is will there be a firmware to correct this issue or a new hardware version that i can exchange this for if I RMA it or would it be best to call it a day and just get a E3200 and use it as a real simultaneous dual band AP???

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2000 Software Can't Find Sonos When Pc Is Connected Through Wifi

Aug 28, 2011

I bought a Sonos multiroom-system, and connected the first player to my E2000 router through Ethernet. It then gets a dynamic address through DHCP, I can see the Sonos within the network when looking in the admin tool of the router. When I start the Sonos controller software on my PC (XP), the software can not find the Sonos when my PC is connected through Wifi.As soon as I connect PC to the router with ethernet cable the Sonos is found immediately and can be initialised. After that, I can disconnect the cable and control the Sonos wirelessly. (as long as I don't close down the controller software for too long)
From what I understood from the website, the Sonos sends an UPnP multicast signal on port for SSDP on port 1900 for initial connection. Further communications port are described below.Somehow, this multicast package seems not to be transferred into the wireless LAN, only into the wired LAN. Do I have to open some ports, filter some ports?Forward them?

After a period of time the entire house goes off line. I have to reboot the power on e2000 router and then disable the access restrictions. System then works. Problem is repeatable. What is the deal. I have updated firmware already. Otherwise the system works great. Never dies. Just when i set access restricions for a SPECIFIC time it kills entiore houese. BTW i can deny him outright 24/7 and the system idsables his access fine. Its just when i set specific times

Linksys Wireless Router :: Can't Access Internet Through E2000

Apr 21, 2013

I have a Linksys E2000.
It worked fine until one day, without any change at all, it simply stoped working. I mean, I can still connect through my wifi laptop connection (it shows connected to my router and says that I have an excelent signal). But, I can't reach the internet. But, If I unplug the internet cable, and plug it in my laptop, the connection works fine. A friend told me that this could be caused intentionally by the internet provider, that they would block my signal to avoid me using a wireless router, trying to force consumers to sign their own wireless service. Thus, by this friend advice, I've cloned my laptop's MAC address to the router. It didn't work either.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Internet Access Regarding Linksys E2000

I have also tried to reset the router without any luck. I know it its not the modem that is causing the problem because I'm wired to it now.On the E2000 every light is blinking as it should be (hence the FAQ) so it indicates that there might be a problem with the connection between the router and the computer (tested on other computers too without success).

WRT54gl / N Access Point Connected To G Router

Jul 16, 2013

Any issues connecting an N access point via an ethernet cable to a G router?I currently have a wrt54gl router in one room (where it's connected by cables to various devices). I'm usually in another room and connect via wifi with other devices. Internet speeds over wifi are fine, but speeds are too slow when transferring files from wifi devices to other computers (windows file sharing).

I'm thinking of running a cable through a wall from the wrt54gl room to the other room and connecting a small N router, in access point mode. I'd then connect to the N access point and, through it, to the main router and other devices in the network. All wifi devices can run N.

Are there any issues in doing this? Anything I should know about configuring this? From other questions, it's not clear if I should use the same SSID for both routers. For that matter, should I turn off wifi on the wrt54gl?

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2000 / Remote Desktop Access With Mac And Asus Transformer Prime?

Jul 31, 2011

I have an E2000 router with the most current firmware. I have a Sony VAio laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit,a Macbook with 10.6.8, and a new Asus Transformer Prime with ICS.My work desktop is a Dell Optiplex 380 with Windows 7 Pro 32bit. I frequently work from home and have no issues remoting into to my work PC from by Sony laptop via VPN and RDP.However I have never been able to connect successfully to my work PC with my Macbook(using Remote Desktop Connection 2.1 for Mac OS) or Asus tablet(using WYSE Pocket Cloud RDP app for Android). I can however connect to the VPN itself on the Macbook and tablet without issue same as my Windows laptop. The other interesting part is I can connect via RDP when I am connected to a Mi-Fi 3g hotspot. So it is definitely something in the my Linksys E2000 blocking the connection for some reason. I have even set Port forwarding of 3389 with the ip's of both the Macbook and Asus tablet.I have also tried connecting via ethernet to the router with the same outcome. I cannot ping my work pc from either device as well.In addition the firewall on my work PC is completely disabled and all services related to Remote desktop access are enabled and running.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2000 Internet Access Is Not Affected When Printer Appears To Be Offline

Jun 10, 2011

I've got a Linksys E2000 router and a Brother MFC-7840W wireless printer and they don't seem to want to play nice together.  The set-up process was fine and I can usually print wireless without a problem, but every so often I'll try to print and my computer will say that the printer is offline.  Other computers on my network also show it as offline. The printer confirms it has an IP address, but even after power cycling it won't be picked up by my machines.  I've even tried a full reset of the printer and re-configured it, at which point it is able to successfully obtain an IP address, but it still shows as offline on my PCs.
The only solution I have found is to powercycle the router.  This always works.  Now that's not a terribly inconvenient workaround most of the time, so I've been doing that for a few months now.  It obviously implicates the router as the point of failure, but wireless internet access is not affected when the printer appears to be offline, so obviously some packets are getting through normally.
