How can I tell the names of the devices that are connected to my E2000 router? Cisco connect says I have 4 devices connected but I only have 3. I am trying to figure out where the 4th device is coming from.

However, a lot of these items such as smart phones with wi-fi, Kindles etc don't seem to have a name that identifies them on the device info page. All of our laptops and desktops are identified, but none of the phones etc. Is it possible to assign names to MAC addresses at all?

I can't get these on the network through the e2000. They can access the internet through the e2000 but only as a guest and therefore don't have the same level of security. What do I need to do to successfully put the above devices on the network?
I am connected to my ISP via Nanostation 5 IP Add:192.168.10.186 S.M: 255.255.255.0, the Nanostation Lan cable is connected to the WAN port of my Linksys E2000, I am using a PPOE connection with my ISP, the Linksys broadcast a new network using DHCP service, The broadcasted Network is 192.168.5.X 255.255.255.0, the thing is i am unable to get the Nanostation GUI, when i replace the Linksys with a TP-Link router i have no such problem becuase in TP-Link i can add an additional IP address which is the Nanostation's IP,Is there any way i can get the Nanostation GUI?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI use a E2000 as a wireless access point to the Internet, by connecting the LAN of the E2000 (set for x.x.x.5) to the LAN of an RVS4000 (Set for x.x.x.1). The E2000 is set for Automatic Configuration, and everything works fine..... Until a power failure occurs... Then, after everything boots up again.. I get the "NO INTERNET" prompt on the wireless....
By using Ping Plotter, from a computer on wireless end, and another computer with Ping Plotter on the wired side of the x.x.x.1 LAN, I've determined that it's the E2000 that has disconnected from the RVS4000.
I have found a work-around, though....No matter How the setting boots up, If I toggle away from and then BACK TO: NAT DISABLED in Advanced Routing, Everything is back operational..... Until the next Power Failure....
Is there any way of making this Automatic.
In another forum, there was a suggestion of putting the E2000 in Bridge mode in WAN settings... I can't find it....
Problem: My PS3 displays An Ethernet cable is not connected almost immediately after logging in. I am connected through a Linksys E2000 router. If I reset the cable modem, it will work for 10-15 minutes until it errors out again. If I plug the PS3 directly into the cable modem, it works fine. I'm really confused. I do not believe it is the router, as my computer is also connected to the router, and works fine. My Touchpad is connected wirelessly and also works fine. I do not believe it is the PS3, because it works fine if I plug it directly into the cable modem. I tried switching to wireless and it finds a lot of other signals (including mine), but I have the same problem if I choose wireless.I first had this problem with a launch PS3 and a Netgear router after almost three years of no problems.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI bought a Sonos multiroom-system, and connected the first player to my E2000 router through Ethernet. It then gets a dynamic address through DHCP, I can see the Sonos within the network when looking in the admin tool of the router.When I start the Sonos controller software on my PC (XP), the software can not find the Sonos when my PC is connected through Wifi.As soon as I connect PC to the router with ethernet cable the Sonos is found immediately and can be initialised. After that, I can disconnect the cable and control the Sonos wirelessly. (as long as I don't close down the controller software for too long)
From what I understood from the sonos.com website, the Sonos sends an UPnP multicast signal on port for SSDP on port 1900 for initial connection. Further communications port are described below.Somehow, this multicast package seems not to be transferred into the wireless LAN, only into the wired LAN. Do I have to open some ports, filter some ports?Forward them?
I've used Netgear & other routers for years; I was able to see the devices connected over ethernet & wifi through the router configuration utility. Cisco's interface looks poor; there is no way to see the connected devices.Many of the devices I have have a 5 Ghz radio and some don't so i need to see at what speeds they are connecting at.Or does Cisco not provide this utility? I am surprised that a high-end product from Cisco does not have this function.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have an EA 4500. Tonight I was trying to see what devices were connected. The window shows 0 devices connected, although about 20 devices are connected and working. When I click on "Devices Connected", I get the spinning wheel, and after multiple attempts by the application to list devices, I receive a message that the application does not work. I have the latest firmware installed. This is a recent issue. I have not made any changes to network configuration, nor to any of the devices that all have internet access. I will note that I did not set up a separate SSID for each band. But that did not seem to be an issue in previous months. I also cannot access the router ui from my windows 7 desktop. I can access the abbreviated ui through my Android phone. I tried connecting through smart wi-fi and by ip of the router. I just get the endless spinning circle of dots. I am running Windows 7 all up to date. All drivers are up to date.

It also seems to randomly shuffle which devices to show as connected, even though several more than nine are connected and online. Does anyone else's device list limit itself to displaying only nine devices? The Linksys phone apps also display a maximum of nine devices. I like the routers new user interface and understand that it has received a lot of praise, however this is the second bug I've experienced in as many months (the first being a failure of the device list to update once devices are upgraded to Windows 8, requiring a reset to default settings in order to fix).

Had a look my E3000 router IP is 192.168.0.1 but those problematic devices has IP 192.168.1.XXX allocated by DHCP not sure why. Currently I manually set up static IP 192.168.0.XXX for those devices.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor a while now, my wireless network at home has been very unreliable. I posted on these forums before, asking for assistance to fix crashes that seemed to be random. I was largely unsuccessful, and the problem continued. However, as I continued to experiment with different methods to keep my network up and running, I noticed that as long as I had at least one device connected to the network around-the-clock it never crashed. This was easy enough, as I own an iPod touch and a dock (I would leave it sitting it the dock unlocked all the time). But it's annoying to never be able to leave the house with it, and I'm ready to finally get a solution to the problem once and for all. I would prefer not getting a new router, but if worse comes to worse I will.
To sum it up:
-Works perfectly (when up) at full speed, never crashes unless there are no devices connected to it.
-When it does crash, it is very difficult to 'coax' it back into working again; it's been down for weeks at a time before.
-For some strange reason (and maybe this is a clue), newer game systems such as a Nintendo DSi or PS3 can make it start working again. I, of course, own neither of these.
-I'm using a WRT160N V3, latest firmware as far as i know.
I cant see in my network the devices connected to SE2500 just the SE2500 itself. The internet access of the devices connected to SE2500 is working correctly. Is this a problem?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the AE1000 adaptor on my wife's computer and direct wired on mine is the E2000.The e2000 is set to 2.4mhz and when connected to the wireless network, my wifes ae1000 shows it is connected at 144mbps.When I change the e2000 to 5.0 mhz and then my wife connects to the internet, she shows the ae1000 at 16-53 mbps. When I switch back to 2.4 she shows 144. I thought that when the e2000 is connected at 5.0 she should have a "faster connection".

I am running a Windows Home Server machine called "mserver" that has an IP address supplied via DHCP.There is also a local webserver running on port 8089 that I use to access media from several devices (Android Phone, Blackberry Playbook & HP Touchpad...i.e. not Microsoft).When I had the BT Homehub3 in use I could access the webserver via http://mserver:8089 and it would be loaded on all devices. With the WDR3600 used in place of the Homehub3 it cannot resolve mserver into a local IP address on a non windows device. I can access it via http://192.168.0.xxx:8089 so the route is there.Does the WDR3600 have any local DNS resolution? I repeat the BT HomeHub3 CAN do this, so why can't the TP-LINK?

Disabling hardware NAT
Turning off UPNP & Port Forwarding
Restoring to factory default
Disabling all ALG's in security
After upgrading two laptops to windows 8, they will no longer appear as a connected device under the "device list." They both access the router via wifi and wired, but neither appear in the device list any longer. I've rebooted the router twice, as well as both computers, disabled/re-enabled their wifi connections, but no effect.Every other non-Windows 8 device still appears normally under the device list.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a big house so I have a e4200 on one end of the house upstairs and the WAP610n on the other end downstairs linked via CA6. I am having no issues with Laptops etc..just with Apple devices. I spent a lot of time with chat support (waste of time). WAP was flashed with latest firmware via hard wire no devices connected to wireless, has same ssid and security settings as router running on 2.4 ghz wpa2 personal AES. I am using 2.4 due to iphone4 does not support 5ghz and wap does not support dual band (another bummer). I am using AES instead of TKIP/AES mixed mode due to apple devices will not acquire dhcp with this setting and if they do they lose it right away. I have tried everything imaginable with the settings even changed beacon to 75, 50 RTS to 2304 etc...the current setting are the only ones that seem to work the best however when i run speedtest.net LA server or SD server the performance is horrible. On windows laptop i can achieve 27mbps down 2.5mbpsup, my apple devices use to achieve very close numbers to that on a simple configuration with two Dlink DGL-4300's one as router one as AP (G mode). So two major issues i have noticed is WAP610N has issues passing DHCP to apple devices and has extremely poor performance. So my question is will there be a firmware to correct this issue or a new hardware version that i can exchange this for if I RMA it or would it be best to call it a day and just get a E3200 and use it as a real simultaneous dual band AP???

The thought is to not have the SSID of the secured network broadcast while allowing the SSID of the Guest network to be broadcast. With the convention of simply adding "Guest" to the end of the SSID for the secured network, it defeats the security option of not having the SSID of the secured network broadcast.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo whenever i plug in my computers with an ethernet cord to my router i get an older, different ssid name displayed in local area connections instead of the one being displayed on the wireless network. For one computer it displays the old ssid name 3011, with a 2 right next to it (i think thats because i had another router with the same name), i changed the ssid twice, but when i plug it into the computer it still displays 3011 2. The other computer displays the first newer ssid but not the official one listed on the wireless network. Either way neither of my computers display the name i have as the ssid when plugged into the router with a cord. do i need to do something else so the names match? i reset the router and updated the firmware before writing this, it didnt do anything. i have windows 7 business for both machines.

I have 2 problems and 1 question.
Question. The Dlink required that I enter the MAC for all devices, wireless and hardwired, to access in protected mode.
The E1200 doesn't seem to want or display any hardwired devices. Does that mean that any hardwired device gets unfettered access to the internet?
Problem #1. I entered real names when I setup any wireless devices. They do not appear anywhere, and especially not in the permitted MAC list.
Problem #2. I have a wireless printer (HP 3000) connected. It works OK on WIFI from the PC, but now not from my HP Touchpad, which doesn't see the printer. Does WIFI printing go through the router first?
