I'm thinking of upgrading from my Linksys WRT54G router to the E4200 and though I've goggled. Also, are there no LEDs on this unit to tell you the status of what's connected?

I've used Netgear & other routers for years; I was able to see the devices connected over ethernet & wifi through the router configuration utility. Cisco's interface looks poor; there is no way to see the connected devices.Many of the devices I have have a 5 Ghz radio and some don't so i need to see at what speeds they are connecting at.Or does Cisco not provide this utility? I am surprised that a high-end product from Cisco does not have this function.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently installed some wireless IP cameras and when attempting to re-install a camera I went into the DHCP Client table to verify which IP a camera was using to set it up, but I could not...and still cannot see any of my cameras in the table even though I can access three of them directly through the IE web browser. I initially power cycled both the E4200 router and Motorola cable modem, and then later just the wireless router...but I still do not see the devices connected. I currently have 2.0.37 firmware even though I was told by Cisco support that there was a later version available, just before being informed that I do not have support available and could purchase it. I attempted to locate a newer version, but the online upgrade portion of the Cisco Connect software searched the net and then states that I have the latest version available. I also opened a Firefox browser to see if maybe my browser was causing issues, but the same limited table appears without all entries available. I even opened the Cisco Connect software on another laptop with the same limited results. Other than a factory reset, get me E4200 dual band wireless router to show all attached devices through the DHCP Client table as it previously did approximately two weeks ago?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have installed my new E4200 and it works beautifully. I have several wirelss adapters and a few wired connections through powerline adapters. I also have a second VPN router attached to the 4200.I can see the wireless connected devices with the associated IP addresses. If I plug a laptop directly into the Cisco, I can of course see it.However, I can see none of the devices attatched to the powerline devices? I have a securty cam connected via the powerline and want to know the IP address. I checked with cisco technical support via chat and they said it is impossible. I have used 2 previous routers with the same configuration and can see all devices.

I cloned the MAC Address and the Stus of the Router displays my current IP's (so I should have Internet). However, when I plug my computer into the Router I get no internet access.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have 2 Media Bridges, a Trendnet TEW-640MB and TrendNet TEW-680MB. Both are set as a Static IP on the devices 192.168.1.150 and 192.168.1.151. In the DHCP table for my E4200 I don't see those. I have no problem accessing them typing in those IP addresses but wondering why they don't show up in the table.Actually looking at it more closely, the devices hooked up that are active seem to show up.So I see the following below. And where is list LAN but no name those seem to be devices connected to the media bridges.

I have been using the E4200 for a few months now...and running access restrictions to cut down my kids internet hours.
Everything was working fine until today. I changed my Access Restriction password....and then discovered that I cannot 'Add' another device. The button is completely grayed out. I have other computers running on the network that are not in the Access Restriction list...so I should be able to click on 'Add' and select a device....
I can continue to edit the Access Restriction permissions for those devicescurrently in the list...but just cant Add any other device...
How can I get a E3000 or E4200 to manage more than 5 devices? Come on Cisco, lets get real. EVERYONE has more than 5 devices to manage. The average family of 4 has 3 or 4 computers, 4 smart phones and at least a couple of tablets and maybe some TV or game consoles. Setting access control policies is a must for anyone who is a parent.
Any good router that has a reasonable set of access control features? I've always loved Cisco up to this point, but I'm frustrated by this significant limitation.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWith all the WiFi ready devices that kids (and adults) have these days, a limit of 5 targetted devices for permissions is hardly enough. I suggest increasing that limit to at least 10.
View 5 Replies View RelatedAll my wireless devices are 802.11n and none of them can pick up the 5 GHz band on my E4200 router. I've tried all the different settings and channels on this band and still nothing. The only device i have been able to pick up the 5 GHz band with is a Desktop PC with a linksys AE1000 USB network adapter. This is quite frustrating because I would like to put my blu-ray player and game systems on the 5 GHz band. Laptop, PS3, XBOX 360, iPOD, and blue-ray player all can't pick up the 5 GHz band. Either my unit is defective (which I don't think is the case or not even the USB adapter would be picking up the network) or there is something I am missing (which I have tried pretty much everything as far as I know with the settings, have two separate names for the band networks and have tried each individual channel under 5 GHz). Also running current firmware version.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI was attempting to use my EA4200 in bridge mode but found out for some reason my devices weren't connecting to the internet. So I decided to try to access the router through the IP address of the router with no avail. So I pull the router and plug it in normally and notice that it keeps flashing. So that already gives me an idea something is wrong. I go through the process of unplugging everything from the router, and plugging my PC directly into the LAN port 1 of the router then powering it up. On my network connection list it keeps trying to identify the network but keeps failing (keep in mind that the router still is flashing). So I decide to attempt a 10 second reset, then a 30 second, then a 30-30-30. All with no success. The router keeps flashing.
Which gets me to the point where I am now... router flashing at me, and wondering if this now out of warrenty unit was a waste of money. I am noticing that a lot of people have had questions and issues with the E4200v2 which now concerns me, well hopefully this can be fixed.
I've got the E3000 set up and working. What I'd like to do now is monitor all the devices' connectivity to it. The bandwidth it consumes and stuff. Is there a way to do that on my router?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an EA 4500. Tonight I was trying to see what devices were connected. The window shows 0 devices connected, although about 20 devices are connected and working. When I click on "Devices Connected", I get the spinning wheel, and after multiple attempts by the application to list devices, I receive a message that the application does not work. I have the latest firmware installed. This is a recent issue. I have not made any changes to network configuration, nor to any of the devices that all have internet access. I will note that I did not set up a separate SSID for each band. But that did not seem to be an issue in previous months. I also cannot access the router ui from my windows 7 desktop. I can access the abbreviated ui through my Android phone. I tried connecting through smart wi-fi and by ip of the router. I just get the endless spinning circle of dots. I am running Windows 7 all up to date. All drivers are up to date.

It also seems to randomly shuffle which devices to show as connected, even though several more than nine are connected and online. Does anyone else's device list limit itself to displaying only nine devices? The Linksys phone apps also display a maximum of nine devices. I like the routers new user interface and understand that it has received a lot of praise, however this is the second bug I've experienced in as many months (the first being a failure of the device list to update once devices are upgraded to Windows 8, requiring a reset to default settings in order to fix).
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy E3000 has been working fine with 1.0.04 build 6 FW. Recently some devices (kindle, iPad) can't connect to internet while connected to E3000 via WiFi network. Had a look my E3000 router IP is 192.168.0.1 but those problematic devices has IP 192.168.1.XXX allocated by DHCP not sure why. Currently I manually set up static IP 192.168.0.XXX for those devices.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor a while now, my wireless network at home has been very unreliable. I posted on these forums before, asking for assistance to fix crashes that seemed to be random. I was largely unsuccessful, and the problem continued. However, as I continued to experiment with different methods to keep my network up and running, I noticed that as long as I had at least one device connected to the network around-the-clock it never crashed. This was easy enough, as I own an iPod touch and a dock (I would leave it sitting it the dock unlocked all the time). But it's annoying to never be able to leave the house with it, and I'm ready to finally get a solution to the problem once and for all. I would prefer not getting a new router, but if worse comes to worse I will.
To sum it up:
-Works perfectly (when up) at full speed, never crashes unless there are no devices connected to it.
-When it does crash, it is very difficult to 'coax' it back into working again; it's been down for weeks at a time before.
-For some strange reason (and maybe this is a clue), newer game systems such as a Nintendo DSi or PS3 can make it start working again. I, of course, own neither of these.
-I'm using a WRT160N V3, latest firmware as far as i know.
I cant see in my network the devices connected to SE2500 just the SE2500 itself. The internet access of the devices connected to SE2500 is working correctly. Is this a problem?

I am reluctant to upgrade; however, my iMAC is picking up the 5GHz broadcast setting, but the rest of my wireless devices only recognize my lower 2.4GHz setting. I have changed channels, my router address is changed because it conflicted with my Verizon DSL. I do not have FIOS. What can I do to fix this problem. I have an ipad, 2 iphones, 2 ipod touches, 2 laptops (PCs), an XBOX, and a PS3 that needs to connect to a higher broadcast. The connections are slow and at times get dropped.

Also is there a way to see rx/tx bytes statistics for all wired and wireless users (including ones that are no longer connected)? I've upgraded to the latest Cisco Connect software and to version 1.0.0.3 router firmware. I get the message "A non-supported device is connected to your router's USB port. Disconnect that device and follow the steps below to connect a USB printer to your router." Cisco support was not beneficial.

However, After installing the router using the disk provided I was unable to connect to the internet even though my computer was able to connect with the router. What can I do to solve this prob.
