Linksys Wireless Router :: EA4500 - Cannot Access Websites
Dec 24, 2012
Got a new EA4500 for Xmas. After setting up the new router I could only access you tube and Google at a very slow speed, however I can not access any other website - Facebook, yahoo and etc... it would ping yahoo and Google no problem friend told me to do a tracer to some ip address and his conclusion was the router is fully functional
Â
ISP uses PPPoE, Im sure that the username and password are correct. upgraded to the latest firmware manually, and holy hell accessing the router with no internet access.

I have had my router for about a month and all the wireless lan stuff seems to be brilliant. Recently I signed up to an ISP (Plusnet), and can't access most websites. The ISP has told me that I should take this up with my Router company. I seem to be having the exact same problems as this guy was having [url]....

I installed a X3000 yesterday. I notice I can't access parts of certain websites - it seems to be just those parts of each site where a logon/password is required. My wireless dongle on the same laptop works OK, so it seems to be a router problem?

I recently bought the E4200 v2. When I first installed, I ran the firmware update and then performed a hard reset (push reset button for 20 secs). I then began to enter all the PPPoE information and network settings into the new router (verified these settings with the existing WRT54GL router I'm current using and they all matched). I then disconnected the old router, and powered up the E4200. I was able to access the new router (192.168.0.1), I could see all previously shared files/computers with the new router, but I could not access most websites - usually I got a timeout error, or they eventually loaded in 10x the usual speed. This was typical of both laptops - one wired, and one wireless. Â My wireless handheld device could connect to the wireless network, and ran a speeedtest.net test, and upload/download speeds were normal - but I could not access the internet from the device. When I switched back to the old router, everything worked perfectly again. Â I have tried some suggestions on changing MTU values, but that did not seem to make any difference.
Â
As a work-around, I have ended up keeping the WRT54GL as the main router and using the E4200 in bridged mode for wireless only (not what I ideally would like)..

I've been on DSL with British Telcom Infnity (FTTC) since March and had no problems with the service. My router, however, an Apple Time Capsule, was not so reliable and needed a reboot every few days,So I just purchased the E4200 V2The Setup completes OK and PPPoE logs into my ISP fine. But then I hit the problem. Most of the websites I use simply won't load . In Safari on my OS X Lion, Macbook, I get an error like this "Request Timeout. The server timed out while waiting for the browser's request. Reference #2.525fdd58.1336048435.0" In IE on my Windows XP laptop, the error is "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"But some websites still load fine. So [url]..., loads instantly. Most other sites I try, including [url]... - won't load at all. (Plusnet is my ISP)If I connect to my work VPN, I can browse as normal

I've been having a strange intermitent problem with my E1500 wireless router. When we first bought and installed it everything was working well with no known problems. After several months no one using the router was able to access certain websites as well as a game server that we play on. No one had made any changes to the router settings and I assumed at first that it was an ISP problem. After talking with our ISP tech support they finally suggested plugging my PC directly into the modem rather then the router. I did and found that the websites and servers that previously wouldn't connect while using the router were now reachable. Any changes to the router settings since installation.I decided that just in case someone unauthorized had made changes to simply revert the router to factory settings and reinstall the software. After doing this I found that I could again reach the websites and servers that I previously could not. So time went on with no problems until a few months later when the same websites and servers were again unreachable by anyone on our router. I again reset the router to factory settings and changed passwords as a precaution, but this time the websites and servers were unreachable even though I had just reset the router.Â

I have an EA4500 wireless router. Would like to allow guest access to the internet without requiring a password. Is this possible, and if so, how? I know how to set the guest password, but it won't let me set it to be blank.

My EA4500 has the newest firmware and is properly configured to support 20+ wireless and wired devices. It does this job well.Guest Access, however, is a problem. It works for about a day, then stops.Guests can access the login screen and enter the password. Then nothing happens. The screen appears to "load", but it does not connect.I have tried returning to default settings and reconfiguring and reupdating firmware. I have tried turning Guest Access on and off, as well as resetting the password. The only that works is rebooting the router. This is obviously not practical, especially for a contract client.

I just bought the new EA4500 router and I'm experiencing problems to access the my bank website [URL] I can't access this website.
Â
I thought that the problem could be with Comcast, but I tested my Mac with a cable directly connected into the cable modem and it worked fine. I was able to access every site.
Â
It could be a problem with browser security, but I even tested with different computers (Mac, PC's, Ipad, Smartphones) and none of them were able to access the [URL] wirelessly.
Â
It seems something strange with the router. I tested some forum solutions (MUT, QoS) but they didn't work.

I upgraded from a E2000 to a EA4500 today and I am experiencing slow wired WAN speeds. On my E2000 I get approximately 60Mbps down and approximately 2Mbps up, and when switching over to the EA4500, I can only manage about 20Mbps down and about 2Mbps up. I can switch back and forth between routers and replicate the results every time

I have a 500 GB HD connected to the router to the usb port and It bothers me that whenever electricity fails in our city and it comes back I can still navigate and access my files on the LAN from the hard drive, but I lose the connection to the router management either by my smart phone application or by accesing trought my laptop. The only way I have figured out to solve this is connecting the drive directly to my laptop and erasing the configuration files created by the router when you set the shared folders, etc. then plugging again and setting all shared folders etc.

I am looking to extend the range in my house by replacing my E200 with an EA4500 (N900) and using the E200 as a wireless access point. Â My question is, will it work even though I will have two switches between the two routers? Â Second, will I be able to use all of the functionality of the new EA4500? Â Specifically I want to hook up two cameras in the house?

Setup: Cable Modem --> EA4500 --> Switch (1GB) --> (1(GM) --> E200

Just got my Linksys EA4500 router today. The only confusing thing, not not well explained by Linksys . Is the USB storage set up.One thing (very important) Linksys has failed to explain how to gain access to the USB storage once connected to the router. Once the USB storage drive it set up. Or at least I think it's set up. Nothing shows up on my network page. So how am I to get access to the drive? If it don't show up?I need to know how to gain access to the USB storage drive that is connected to the Linksys router.
This is how I think it is to be set up. Again the instructions are not all that clear how to set up. And where is this widget on the homepage to be located? Â

Do you plan to support L2TP protocols Dual access.and / or the ability to enter static ip address (as in pptp) to connect l2tp.in Russia in the past few years, dominated by the type of connection L2TP Dual access, ie provider gives the internal ip address (static), and address of the VPN DNS server. to access the Internet using a protocol l2tp.as the network provider has the internal resources, which can be accessed if the router supports dual atstsess.of the protocol pptp providers moving away.

I've been researching this for a day now and have just confused myself further. Â Long story short, I just picked up an EA4500 and there's still a dead area in the house. Â I already have one ethernet cable that's being used which runs from the one side of the house to the other. Â After researching this, I believe I can set up the E1500 as an Access Point to further the range of the wireless signal via the ethernet cable and 2 routers. Â I just have a few additional questions that the articles and walkthroughs I've read through didn't seem to address.
Â
I set up the EA4500 and have 2 SSID's, one for 2.4Ghz and one for 5Ghz band. Â When I set the SSID on the E1500, should I use the 2.4Ghz SSID from the EA4500 or should I reset the EA4500 to factory defaults and only use the 1 SSID instead of splitting them? Â Or, should I use a totally different SSID altogether on the E1500?I think from what I read, you should use different channels for each router; does it matter which ones you use as there's not that much traffic in my area and do I need to change the channel on both bands of the EA4500? Â Or can these all be left to Auto? Can you still use the ethernet ports on the AP/E1500 or are they rendered useless if you set it up in this mode?

EA4500 Is there any way to enable parent controls on everyone who logs in over guest access? We have a lot of youth who use the network, but we only give them guest access so that they can't access network machines. I enabled Parent Control, but I couldn't find a way to say "Parent Control enable for Guest Account".

I want to do with my ea4500 is assign it a static IP and access it after doing so. But, no matter how many times I try, I cannot enter its IP address in the address bar and see its settings. I change its IP to192 168 1 200. Subset 255... DG 192 168 1 1 DNS same.Under router address 192 168 0 1I CANNOT access this router at 192 168 0 1 at all. The thing is, the **bleep** settings are not any different the. How they were when it was WORKING. I literally took a screenshot of my setting in case a scenario like this would come up, yet it more problems arise. The only way I can access the router is by doing a factory reset and accessing it at 192 168 1 1.

I use the Smart Wi-Fi app on my iPad3 (IOS 6.1.3) to access my EA4500 remotely. When I want to add a port forwarding, it shows always 192.168 as start of the ip address related to the ports. But I have a 10.71 network installed and cannot change the 192.168 to 10.71. I suppose this is a bug.

I just purchased the EA4500 router and went through the setup with no issues. Â The only problem is I cannot access the router either locally or through the Smart Wifi dashboard. Â Everytime I go to the page with "Access Router", enter the password and clikc the "Submit" button it does nothing...no incorrect password prompt or idle prompt...almost like the page is broken somehow. Â I've done all of the usual, restart router, restart PC, restart cable modem, etc. and always having the same result.

I have recently purchased an EA4500 router. I assigned my sons XBOX a static IP via DHCP reservation (outside of the standard DHCP range). I set up single port forwarding on all the standard xbox required ports. Once I click the "enabled" box, I am unable to access the internet from any of the computers connected to the router. If I uncheck the enable box, I am instantly able to access the internet.

I'm trying map the USB hard drive connected to my EA4500 router as a network drive in Windows 7, and it works perfectly until I enable secure folder access on the router.
Â
After enabling secure folder access, and not changing any other settings on the router I first unmount the drive since it was set up without credentials and doesn't work that way any more. When I try to remap the drive I use the same address, but select "Connect using different credentials" When it prompts me for the log in info I try using the router admin account, but it fails to connect.  Windows network diagnostics tells me the device refused the connection. I proceeded to set up an account on the router under the folder access settings with the same username, and password I use on my computer, and tried to connect it without checking "Connect using different credentials" (And typing them in manually if that matters) with the same results.
Â
Even with secure folder access enabled I can still reach the drive just fine by typing "ftp://192.168.1.1/" into file explorer. It prompts me for a username and password, I put in the admin credentials, and I'm in. Even the account I created with the same username/password as my computer works this way.
Â
After disabling secure folder access everything works perfectly fine again... I would MUCH rather do this with it though.
Â
Following these directions: [URL] When clicking the browse button the router shows up when secure folder access is disabled, but does not after it is enabled. I've looked through my windows sharing settings, and haven't noticed anything that should cause problems, pretty much everything is enabled. I've also tried turning off my firewall with no success.

I have a Linksys EA4500 setup on my corporate network for wireless access.  I have enabled the guest network and from all I can tell it's on a seperate subnet from my internal network like it should be. 192.168.x.x  My internal is on a 10.x.x.x network. I conenct to the guest network using a laptop and I'm prompted for a password to get to the internet, which I like. The one issue I'm seeing is when I'm connected to the guest network I can still do an RDP session to internal resources.  How is this possible if the guest network is on a seperate subnet?I take a laptop which has not been joined to my domain, connect to the guest ssid, and then open an RPD session and enter an IP address for an internal server and it connects.  Is there a setting to keep this from happening
