Have just changed my E4200 to EA4500 but can my computer has not IE access. Both router has same settings and the mac adr are both in the modem at the local cabel firm.

Just sold my computer and the plan was to buy a newer mac but we've been getting along fine without a computer with just using our iphones. So my question, I see that Cisco has the Connect Express app for the iphone, and I've read about all the features it has like changing settings, router features, etc. But I can't find anything on using the app for the initial set up of the router. I'm currently on an older linksys router (set up before we sold the computer) but it's time for a needed upgrade.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm thinking about changing my home router (have WAG300N now) and my big concern are GRE and ipv6ip tunnels. Righ now I experience that every few days WAG300N stops passing GRE traffic from inside of my network therefore my ipv6ip tunnel goes down. The only way to sove that is to completly reload WAG300N router.

passing ipv6ip and GRE tunnels through E4200 or EA4500? I see no passthrough in configuration option for those routers.Also performance question - I have 64Mbit symmetric internet connection. I guess both routers would easily handle that with SPI turned on and NAT?
Lets get this straight, right off! If I plugged my computer directly to my Comcast Modem, IPv6 works fine on the { url } So I do not think any of this problem is related to my computer

I bought a EA4500 Router so I would be ready for IPv6, and also wanted N as well as the storage USB port. When I got the router, it came I guess with the original release firmware. It looked "Classic", but the box said Smart. I did the firmware upgrade. I could not get a IPv6 from Comcast. IPv4 worked fine.

I then changed to the latest "Classic: firmware, and all started to work. So I decided to try Smart again. Same thing, no IPv6 from Comcast. After being on chat for I think close to 2 hours today and getting no where, I did a reset to start at scratch again. I then got a IPv6 from Comcast. Many moons ago, it was a real hassle to switch devices hooked to a cable modem. At least here you had to power cycle the modem, so I have always cloned my wired Desktop MAC. So when I put it back in, I lost IPv6 from Comcast. Turned off MAC cloning, and I got the IPv6 again. So it looks like there is a bug in the Smart Firmware and MAC cloning since it worked OK with Classic firmware. OK, I could live with no cloning since the issues of yesteryear don't seem to be there in getting a IP from the cable modem.Â

Then for what ever reason, my computer would not get a valid IPv6 on the LAN from the router. I got some IP, but no Gateway. I tried everything I could think off. And again, plugging the computer directly to the cable modem, IPv6 worked fine. So something is just not right with this router as far as I am concerned.

Also, it seems like navigating through the menus on a local connection (192.168.1.1), I constantly got a message to wait popping up on the screen, for many seconds. If I had no Internet connection it would take forever on some things.

I have spent many hours on this, and am just giving up and going to look at another brand product. I don't need or want the "Smart" functions anyway.
I just now installed a new EA4500 Router. It installed itself automatically without a problem, by running the setup CD. No devices other than my hard wired computer and modem are connected yet.Â

When I went into Start > Cisco Connect to look around and check it's version, etc., I immediately got a "There's an important update for your router" notice. My concern is not wanting to install The Cloud at this time (although I wouldn't rule it out later). There has not been a trace of it so far.

I currently have Firmware Version: 2.0.36.126507 and Software Version: 1.4.12100.0. What this Important Update may be? Is it the "dreaded" Cloud? I'd rather avoid the whole rolling back to pre-Cloud issue for now, if possible.
Since the EA4500 automatically updates via the Cisco Connect Software, does a copy of the firmware file get saved to the local computer?

there has been issues with this router, and I wonder if any of you have issues connecting to the 5ghz when you wake your pc from sleep longer than an hour. For some reason when I put my computer to sleep at night and wake it up in the morning, my computer will not connect to 5ghz. It will work fine with 2.4, both are set in auto, so I dont see any issues. I did try to put 5ghz to a manual setting; wpa2, 40 mhz, and channel 161. I still get the same results. I am doing something wrong or is the router's 5ghz faulty?Also when is the new firmware coming, I am getting sick of my Harddrive being awake 24/7, its killing the harddrives life span and wasting electricity. I should put this in another post, because they should really change the media server to Wild Media Server or Serviio it would be alot better.

The problem is that it almost don't work at all with cable, even if i turn off the wireless network, the speed is about  2-3 mbit in and about 6-7 mbit out All other computers, tv. printer wireless work very fine.

ISP uses PPPoE, Im sure that the username and password are correct. upgraded to the latest firmware manually, and holy hell accessing the router with no internet access.
I have an EA4500 wireless router. Would like to allow guest access to the internet without requiring a password. Is this possible, and if so, how? I know how to set the guest password, but it won't let me set it to be blank.

It works for about a day, then stops.Guests can access the login screen and enter the password. Then nothing happens. The screen appears to "load", but it does not connect.I have tried returning to default settings and reconfiguring and reupdating firmware. I have tried turning Guest Access on and off, as well as resetting the password.The only that works is rebooting the router. This is obviously not practical, especially for a contract client.

I thought that the problem could be with Comcast, but I tested my Mac with a cable directly connected into the cable modem and it worked fine. I was able to access every site.

I upgraded from a E2000 to a EA4500 today and I am experiencing slow wired WAN speeds. On my E2000 I get approximately 60Mbps down and approximately 2Mbps up, and when switching over to the EA4500, I can only manage about 20Mbps down and about 2Mbps up. I can switch back and forth between routers and replicate the results every time
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a 500 GB HD connected to the router to the usb port and It bothers me that whenever electricity fails in our city and it comes back I can still navigate and access my files on the LAN from the hard drive, but I lose the connection to the router management either by my smart phone application or by accesing trought my laptop. The only way I have figured out to solve this is connecting the drive directly to my laptop and erasing the configuration files created by the router when you set the shared folders, etc. then plugging again and setting all shared folders etc.

Is the USB storage set up.One thing (very important) Linksys has failed to explain how to gain access to the USB storage once connected to the router. Once the USB storage drive it set up. Or at least I think it's set up. Nothing shows up on my network page. So how am I to get access to the drive? Â I already have one ethernet cable that's being used which runs from the one side of the house to the other. Â After researching this, I believe I can set up the E1500 as an Access Point to further the range of the wireless signal via the ethernet cable and 2 routers. I set up the EA4500 and have 2 SSID's, one for 2.4Ghz and one for 5Ghz band. Â When I set the SSID on the E1500, should I use the 2.4Ghz SSID from the EA4500 or should I reset the EA4500 to factory defaults and only use the 1 SSID instead of splitting them? Â Or, should I use a totally different SSID altogether on the E1500?I think from what I read, you should use different channels for each router; does it matter which ones you use as there's not that much traffic in my area and do I need to change the channel on both bands of the EA4500? Â Or can these all be left to Auto?Can you still use the ethernet ports on the AP/E1500 or are they rendered useless if you set it up in this mode?
I just switched to the EA4500 Router and I'm now unable to remotely access my camera devices.  I have done the port forward.  I can access the cameras from my local LAN both when using the local 10. ..and external 99 .. Addresses.  When I go off the local connection -  Access does not work. Slingbox did its auto configuration and I can access it.  I just cant get to camera devices (Panosonic, Foscam, etc.). Â

We have a lot of youth who use the network, but we only give them guest access so that they can't access network machines. But, no matter how many times I try, I cannot enter its IP address in the address bar and see its settings. I change its IP to192 168 1 200. Subset 255... DG 192 168 1 1 DNS same.Under router address 192 168 0 1I CANNOT access this router at 192 168 0 1 at all. The thing is, the **bleep** settings are not any different the. How they were when it was WORKING. I literally took a screenshot of my setting in case a scenario like this would come up, yet it more problems arise. The only way I can access the router is by doing a factory reset and accessing it at 192 168 1 1.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI use the Smart Wi-Fi app on my iPad3 (IOS 6.1.3) to access my EA4500 remotely.When I want to add a port forwarding, it shows always 192.168 as start of the ip address related to the ports. But I have a 10.71 network installed and cannot change the 192.168 to 10.71. I suppose this is a bug.
